Love coming to Mitsuwa. They always have unique Japanese stands, a crepe place, and towards the back it has a store that sells anime, pokemon , and hello kitty stuff. Come here at least once a week for ramens and snacks. When I was there earlier today I found out it is the last day the Okabe sweet shop is in San Diego and won’t be back till next Summer, so I bought some strawberry daifuku and a bunch of Sakura mochi from them. The strawberry daifuku was okay, but the Sakura mochi was super good!! It’s made with pink sticky rice with red bean in the center. It’s not super sweet . Even my dog love it!!
Cheaper than most Japanese market and has all the things you need to make authentic ramen and buy Japanese snacks and food to go. I love their small gift shop and selections on skin care. I wish there were more selections for meat and vegetables, but for the price and many Japanese speciality selection you can’t beat it. Staff is very friendly, cashiers are POC usually and the main cooking and stocker staffs are Japanese. It nice to practice some of my Japanese with them too. Overall makes me feel like home again in Japan from time to time when I miss Japan vibes. Currently they are selling fresh cooked pancakes stuff beans, amazing delicious when eating a min after
The sashimis are just super fresh and delicious. We couldn't help but bought a bunch of them for 2 meals straight. I would have have them every day if I could. The qualities are just super good and the prices are very friendly.
Good Japanese grocery store! I am so happy that it’s located in this area! I like Mitsuwa in general so it gives me comfort when I see it around! They are some restaurants in the store so you get to have hot japanese foods right there! :) Keep up the good work! Cheers 🥂
this was a very cute Japanese market! The prices there were definitely reasonable given that all the foods were imported. If you are looking for some authentic Japanese ingredients, this place is definitely the way to go. I was able to snag some good ice cream, as well as some amazing coffee and milk tea! The staff was very nice and helpful and getting me what I needed plus there is a great food court inside the grocery store. Can’t wait to visit again soon!
If you crave Japanese boxed cookie souvenirs from Narita, come to Mitsuwa. There is a whole section dedicated to them, plus a stand for coated peanuts and mochi. Actually, they offer plenty of hard to find products from Japan and quick store made foods: onigiri, bento, etc. Loved it.
So much sold in a rather small building. Lunch boxes (bento), quality cuts of meat, lots of Sake options, a little collectors shop, 2 restaurants, a crepe shop and prize arcade machines. All the grocery stuff and I found my favorite soda which I have been looking for. Successful trip if you ask me. Highly recommend you check this market out.
This is the only place I've been able to find my absolute favorite beverage, gokuri grapefruit. But we also come for Musashiya and their amazing katsudon. It's absolutely perfect, with the tender cutlet, flavorful egg, and perfectly cooked rice. I could have it three times a week and never get tired of it. They also do tonkatsu, udon, chicken katsu, tempura shrimp and veg, and several curries.
A big market to purchase almost everything necessary for life. There would be a special corner for sides appetizers. The Personal care part is with many products from different brands. The meat are somehow expensive. The vegetables are various in spices. Especially love their large fruit tomato as well as the Sea Urchin (Uni). The uni is so fresh from local just as what I saw in Japan.
TLDR: visit the place and have a look around there is gonna be some there for you. Very nice market to go to, has a lot of snacks and food you can’t find typically at a normal chain grocery store. it’s filled with a few other businesses which have a variety of items. They also have premade meals which are pretty tasty cheaper then a restaurant and filling. I usually come here after a workout to fill up on meats and carbs with a nice sugary drink. Good recover spot.

Very pleasant and clean. A great little market with a good selection of A great little market will a good selection of a great little market win a good selection of Japanese Goods. Also has three very good hot food restaurants. Fresh sushi and bento boxes made daily. I often stop there on my way home to pick up dinner for myself and the family.
Can't go wrong with Mitsuwa Marketplace!! All nationalities and genders are welcomed! The ambiance of this place is unbeatable. You have fresh Crepes available inside along with a food mart and a couple vendors as well that sell merch, anime, etc. Love it here! Always a good time!
Mitsuwa Marketplace is a must-visit if you love Japanese food and culture! The store has an amazing selection of authentic Japanese groceries, snacks, and specialty items you won’t find anywhere else. The food court is the highlight—Santouka Ramen, Musashiya’s katsudon, and the crepe stand are all fantastic. Everything tastes fresh and authentic, just like in Japan. I also love browsing the aisles for unique drinks like Gokuri grapefruit and Japanese sweets. The atmosphere is clean and organized, and the staff is friendly. Parking can get crowded on weekends, so I recommend visiting on weekdays if possible. If you’re in San Diego and craving Japanese flavors, Mitsuwa is the place to go!
This is a great grocery story to find all the ingredients you need for Japanese cuisine! Moreover, there are a few restaurants and ready to go food. I love to get some rice balls every time i come here!
I actually taken my grandson. I didn't go inside. But he did bring me a Sweet Potato dessert. It was delicious.
Pretty standard Asian market with a small produce and meat section, but the little stores inside are worth checking out. They also mark down the prepared foods half off when they are near closing time, so it's a great deal on musibi and onigiri.

I am not a local, but truly loved the concept. The restaurant is exceptional. The place is clean and has bento boxes and rice balls that are difficult to find in the mid west. Funny to find pictures of shoplifters scattered throughout the stores. My daughter couldn’t stop giggling about it for the day. There is really nothing to dislike about the place if you’re in search of anything Japanese. From ramen, curry, groceries, cookware, or anime collectibles, it can all be found here.
This market has a great selection of food, especially warm to-go options like onigiri, teriyaki bowls, and sushi. They also have a nice produce section, plenty of cold drinks, and a fun variety of Japanese candy. The store itself is clean, well-organized, and easy to browse. We tried the spicy tuna onigiri, it was just okay, nothing special. One small downside: they charge 15¢ for a bag instead of the standard 10¢ most places charge. Parking was also pretty hectic and hard to find. Overall, a solid spot for Japanese snacks and quick meals, just be prepared for the parking situation.
Decent Mitsuwa, one ofnthe smaller ones. Food court was small and could use nore Ac. Had ramen and was sweating. Ramen was ok, over price for portion and could go elsewhere for service and better ramen.
Good place to shop Japanese products and there are 2 famous ramen shops in there, a crepe shop and also sweets shop. Vicinity has Target and a variety of shops and restaurants too. Easy access and plenty of parking available.

Stopped to shop at Mitsuwa Marketplace to buy frozen onagi (Japanese freshwater eel) to make roll eggs today. I haven’t been here for a few years and everything is still the same and the place is clean and organized. I used to get their salmon bento box at the food court for lunch. I didn’t get that today as the size of the grilled salmon is now smaller than before. I bought many freshly made side dishes (pickled radish, gyoza, etc.) and the prices were reasonable. Mitsuwa has Asian groceries, wine, beers, cosmetic products, collectible toys, freshly made crepes and mochi, souvenir shop, snacks and other grocery items. There are two Japanese restaurants inside, Musashiya Japanese and Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. Food court has hot, cold prepared foods and fresh sushi. Parking can be a little challenging and the spaces are narrow and limited. Overall, you can get Japanese groceries, food and various specialty Japanese products all in one place.

It’s really gone downhill. The pork katsu was terrible — the worst I’ve ever had. This is the second time in a row they’ve messed up our order. The food court prices are high, and the quality is below average. We spent $70 for combination of lunch for two and left with a bad taste in our mouths. This will be our last visit.
