Such a wonderful first experience with Heytea San Diego. Staff was very kind as we had our newborn and puppy with us; expediting things with assisting us with popular options and ability to order ahead. There are plentiful options including boba. My girlfriend is a matcha lover so she got the supreme matcha latte while I got a mango variation. Looking forward to coming back now that a location has opened up in SD.

I really like mango drinks and this by far has one of the best mango drinks that I’ve had around San Diego. The coconut creaminess definitely makes the mango drink very refreshing. I would definitely come back and try their other fruit drink

It’s pretty amazing to see the No.1 Chinese Milk Tea brand right now in San Diego! I’ve had a grape drink one time in China, it was very delicious. This time, I tried 3 flavors, a light ice classic supreme matcha, a hot jasmine cheese tea and an iced mango coconut drink. All these are yummy! I can tell their ingredients are very fresh. You might expect long line since it’s just opened, but I believe it will be better. Their matcha series is always recommended and you should also try the mango one if you like mango.

Mango Coconut Blue: 4.5/5 Very not sweet and tastes like a more drink-ified Vietnamese che. It’s very refreshing and balanced. I love all the textures and they work together well. Compared to a more traditional boba shop, this drink tastes and feels very intentional, a cultural shift I see with boba and tea shops happening. Ambiance: Cool and casual. Enjoy the vibe, the smells, the drink, and get out because it’s small. Service: Fast but they have a lot of volume of drinks. Be kind to them, they’re going through it. Parking: Big plaza but not a lot of parking. Be brave because the other people will actively try to hit you.

Heytea at Del Mar serves some of the best fruit tea I’ve had—super fresh. That said, the pickup experience could really be improved. When ordering through the app, it doesn’t tell you the estimated wait time. By the time I’m notified that my order is ready, I still have to drive 15 minutes to the shop—and by then, the ice is mostly melted. They also don’t store the pickup drinks in a refrigerated area, so the drink ends up sitting out at room temperature. This feels like an easy fix—the app could simply show a wait time estimate (like many other boba shops already do), or allow you to set a pickup time. Even just putting the drinks in a fridge would help preserve the quality. They do show the number of drinks in the queue AFTER you purchased it on the app. Still love the tea, but I hope they improve the pickup process!

Tried Heytea for the first time and it was such a pleasant surprise. The drinks are refreshing with just the right level of sweetness, never overwhelming. The store is very clean, the service is quick, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. You can really feel the quality and attention to detail. Highly recommend for anyone who loves milk tea.

I loved my visit to this milk tea shop. The Jasmine Latte was incredibly fragrant—smooth, floral, and not overly sweet. The Brown Sugar Milk Tea had a deep, toasty flavor with just the right hint of caramel. You can really taste the quality of the tea. I’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely loved my visit to HEYTEA! The drinks were flavorful, refreshing, and perfectly balanced — not too sweet, just right. Per staff, the only difference between mango blue and mango boom is the blue coloring. That’s it. They taste exactly the same. The blue color is from food coloring not superfood spirulina powder or anything fancy.

The good thing is they have an app for ordering in advance, though I’ve had times when it was down. I finally managed to place an order today—just wish the cup size were a bit bigger.

Why am I paying one whole dollar for such a small amount? I’ve been to Heytea in Singapore, NYC, Boston, and Irvine, and Singapore and NYC are by far the most generous with their boba, which is how it should be. Staff is very friendly though. I love that they are still open after dinner, compared to other places in SD. Highly recommend their different grape and matcha drinks! Their seasonal cloud magnolia latte was great!

The store welcomed me with a very strong tea aroma which made me think that their drinks will have a nice, strong tea flavor, which I love. But I couldn’t be more wrong. Only the fresh tea drinks (with no sugar and no ice) had a very subtle hint of tea flavor and taste. I couldn’t taste any tea flavor in all other ones that had the tea base even though I ordered them with minimal sugar and less ice. That made me wonder if the tea aroma inside the store is probably from an air refresher, not from the tea leaves. Tiramisu milk tea was very mediocre. Heytea just dumped lots of cocoa powder on the cheese cloud instead of mixing them together so it didn’t give any actual tiramisu taste as in the drink name. The only positive things I like about this tea shop is they offer zero cal sweetener and the boba didn’t get harden despite being in an iced drink for a little while. After trying several different drinks here, given the high prices for fairly small sized cups, and the weak to zero tea flavor in most drinks, I’m just not a fan.

I have shamelessly frequented heytea since opening because of these reasons. However, over the last couple months, I’ve noticed a drop in quality, specifically with their pearls and some of the drinks as pointed out by other reviewers. Their pearls have been consistently firm/hard and unappetizing the last several times I’ve gone. Today, instead of soft, individual pearls, I received a giant clump that I can’t even really breakdown. Because of this drop in quality, I’m going to take a break from heytea and branch out to something new or go back to old favorites like yun teahouse.

such an unfortunate heytea experience 😔 they waited to scan about 20 drinks as ready when they were all ready and sitting behind the counter. not sure why they stockpiled the drinks instead of bringing them out as they were made. my drink had melted some by the time it came out. i’ve ordered the same drink (green grape slush) at 3 different locations and it’s always tasted great, it didn’t hit the mark this time. for some reason it tasted just like ice. i’m sad as heytea is my favorite tea brand, i wont be coming back to this location.
