Amazing experience at Mimoza Mediterranean in San Diego! From the moment we walked in, everything was perfect. Our server Tugba was absolutely wonderful—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. She made us feel very welcome and took great care of us throughout the meal. A big thank you to the owner and her daughter as well—both are incredibly kind and welcoming people. Special thanks to Devrim and Selin for creating such a warm, cozy atmosphere. You can truly feel the passion and heart they put into this place. The food was delicious, authentic, and beautifully prepared. Combined with the great service and atmosphere, it made for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend Mimoza Mediterranean. We will definitely be back! 🌿🍽️✨
We had such a wonderful experience at Mimoza Mediterranean, and Tugba was a huge part of what made it so special. Her level of service was truly refreshing- warm, attentive, and genuinely caring in a way you don’t come across very often. Tugba made us feel welcomed from the moment we sat down and checked in at just the right moments. The food and drinks were incredible across the board. The Cherie Amor and the Mistral Mojito were both fantastic, the branzino was absolutely delicious- everything we ordered was a hit! Tugba is a standout and a true credit to Mimoza. We’ll definitely be back.
This place is absolutely fantastic! I've been to a lot of Turkish restaurants and this is one of the best I've ever been to! My Turkish coworker also vouches for the authenticity of the food. We loved it so much that we went here for lunch twice in two days and had to roll ourselves out because we were so stuffed! As a vegetarian, I was also able to find a lot of great options. It's a bit on the pricey side but worth every cent in my opinion!
Amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious - fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. We had a wonderful time overall. A special shoutout to Tugba, who took such great care of us. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. Her warm attitude and genuine effort really elevated the whole experience. Highly recommend this place - great food and even better service. We’ll definitely be back!
Great experience for a fabulous workday lunch beyond! Server Tugba was attentive, knowledgeable, gracious and timely, allowing me to be in and out in less than 45 minutes, even with multiple courses. I ordered the cilantro and jalapeño hummus, which was served with a generous portion of soft and warm pita, and the House Salad add Falafel, served with a tangy housemate dressing that felt light, but satisfying. Best falafel I've ever had. Moist and fluffy inside, crispy fried (and again somehow light) exterior. Will absolutely be back and recommend! Cute decor and vibes, plus a fair share of whimsical holiday decor this time of year.
Tugba served us tonight. We were seated promptly & throughly enjoyed every dish! We ordered the lentil soup, arugula salad, Turkish meatballs, followed by a lovely Turkish tea & Turkish coffee. But I must admit I was astounded by their beautifully presented Kunafa dessert. It was absolutely delicious.
Fantastic! The food was amazing, as was the ambiance and service. The falafel & hummus appetizer and lamb shish kabob plate were both delicious. I accidentally left my camera behind at the restaurant, and the owner went above and beyond in getting it back to me. Parking was easy to find in the very cute Gaslamp Quarter, and it is a short walk from waterfront hotels. Highly recommended!
Just wanted to try a new spot for Greek food and saw this place juat opened up so we decided to go check it out. Glad we did. Our server Tubja (sorry for mispelling) was so very nice and offered great choices for us to try. The food was awesome and the drinks were even better. Bit pricey but its worth checking out.
We had a reservation for 7 pm on a Friday evening, it was quite busy so glad we had that reservation. Initally walking in, there is a very nice vibe and decor to the restaurant. We ended up ordering the Beef Borek as the starter. This we did not like as much, we were fortunate to try some really nice authentic borek over the years but this one seems to be a very health conscious version of it. For the main dishes we ordered the Adana Kebab (served with rice and green salad) and the Iskender (doner with fried bread, tomato sauce and yogurt). I've been looking for Iskender for over a year and this definitely hit the spot. For dessert we ordered Kunefe which was made perfectly. It had the right amount of Syrup, a good amount of cheese inside and the crispiness was on point. Overall great service, great food and great restaurant!
I stopped by this place with some girlfriends before we watched a comedy show at Balboa! Service was quick and efficient, food was delicious, and the restaurant was nice with plenty of indoor and some outdoor seating. Parking is difficult in this area per usual, but there are plenty of paid lots nearby. Food/cocktail review: Summer rose: (3/5) It was OK. It was refreshing but the flavors didn’t blend well. Pistachio espresso martini: (5/5) I personally cannot drink coffee, but I did take a sip for review purposes lol. I really liked the foam on top, very tasty and different than anything I’ve tried before. Hummus trio: (5/5) The different types of hummus were delicious! It came with plenty of pita for dipping. Dolma: (5/5) Delicious!! They’re the perfect size and are very refreshing and tasty. We ended up ordering 2 of these because they were so good! Mimoza house salad w/chicken: (5/5) Refreshing, tasty, and a good portion for sharing. I could’ve eaten this as my main course, the dressing was delicious! Cheese borek: (5/5) Cooked to perfection. It was flaky, warm, and soooo good!! We ended up ordering the spinach one as well (not as good, in my opinion)
We're from the eastern part of the country; come to visit, and they're definitely better than most restaurants in the US. The mixed appetizer platter quickly became our favorite. The cocktails were also great. The service was smooth, everyone was friendly, and the atmosphere and location were perfect. I'll definitely be back; it's a must-try.
This Mediterranean restaurant impressed me with its flavorful spread! The mozzarella sticks were crispy and tasty, and the falafel was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the perfectly seasoned calamari and the juicy, well-cooked chicken kebab. A special mention to Tugba, our waitress, who was very helpful and did a fantastic job throughout our visit. The restaurant's ambiance was also amazing.
The food here is amazing and affordable! Our server was super friendly and helpful, and the food arrived fast. We had the cheese borek with feta and mozzerella (delicious--different than other boreks we've had in that this one was flat), the Mimoza Appetizer mix (lovely!) and the chicken wrap (amazing!). The rice pudding with cinnamon was a highlight. The atmosphere is decent as well, though perhaps a bit kitsch. Generally, I'd absolutely recommend this place!
I had an amazing experience at Mimoza! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with authentic Turkish décor and a cozy ambiance. The food was absolutely incredible—each dish was packed with rich flavors and perfectly seasoned. The kebabs were juicy, the mezes were fresh A special shoutout to our waitress, Tugba, who made the experience even better. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She took the time to recommend the best dishes and made sure we had everything we needed. Her warm personality and excellent service truly made us feel at home. If you’re looking for authentic Turkish cuisine with top-notch service, this place is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Mimoza Mediterranean Restaurant – Authentic Turkish Kebabs in Downtown San Diego A Turkish friend recommended this spot, and it turned out to be a solid choice for authentic kebabs. Located at the corner of Fourth Ave and F St, the restaurant isn't huge but has a classy and stylish interior, with artistic wall paintings and four large TVs playing sports—perfect for watching a game while dining. Food & Drinks Drinks: Extensive selection of wines and cocktails. Appetizers: Fried Calamari – A big disappointment. The flavor was off, with an unpleasant sour-salty combo, and the batter fell apart easily. Wouldn’t recommend it. Beef Börek – A must-try! The flaky dough was crispy outside, creamy inside, with a nice balance of beef, onions, and cheese. Main Dish: Mimoza Mixed Grill – A huge platter of kebabs (Adana, Chicken Adana, Lamb Shish, Chicken Shish, Doner, and Kofte), served with rice and salad. The lamb kebabs were the highlight—juicy and tender. The chicken was slightly dry but still flavorful. Although meant for two people, the portion is generous enough to share among four. Service & Atmosphere Attentive staff, frequently checking in to ensure we were satisfied. No outdoor dining, so not dog-friendly. Parking is difficult due to its location in the busy Gaslamp Quarter—be prepared to walk a bit. Despite the underwhelming calamari, the mixed grill and beef börek made up for it. A great spot for kebab lovers, but avoid peak hours if you don’t want to struggle with parking!
We came here to have a quiet lunch for my wife's birthday. Mimoza did not disappoint. We ordered fried calamari and hummus as our starters, then chicken kebab plate and gyro plate as our main. The portions were generous and delicious. Parking on the street is hard but less than a block up is a public parking lot. Tugba, our server, was so kind and lovely. She brought out our baklava with a lit candle and sang happy birthday to my wife!
This place has its pros and cons. Pistachio Martini and there was another off the menu drink with lavender was the standout. Tugba was the server and bartender and I think she needs a raise. The service was slow but it was due to lack of staff. She made drink, brought the food and was cleaning up later. Massive props to her. About the food.. it was mid at best. Chicken felt dry, lamb was overcooked. But the Kunafa was probably the best I have had in this country. Having stayed in Dubai for a couple years .. this Kunafa was the closest I've had here.
While visiting San Diego, we decided to have dinner at this Mediterranean restaurant. The hummus was decent, and the falafel was quite good. The doner kebab wrap was a little dry on its own, but the tahini helped balance it out. Tugba, our server, was incredibly sweet and exceptional—she made the experience even better. We especially loved the desserts: both the künefe and kazandibi were outstanding and easily the highlight of the meal. Overall, a pleasant dining experience with good service and delicious desserts.
