Opinions de Kiin Extraordinary Thai San Diego
We have tried so many Thai restaurants from Las Vegas and New York to ones all around California and this is my favorite one so far! I ordered the yellow curry and it was perfect! I tried my sons and husbands dish as well and it was the same (perfection) … Perfectly spiced and the flavor was insane! Small seating area but in a HUGE open eatery space! Can’t wait to come back!
We’ve never actually been to the restaurant, but every time I’ve ordered delivery it has been exceptional. Which is atleast 5 times. Some of the best Thai food I have ever had!!! Really want to try the tamarind chicken bites but they aren’t recommended for take out… will visit asap and try them!
Great service from greetings, providing food recommendation to serve dishes. We ordered the Pad see Iw with roasted duck, Thai ice tea and braised beef Panang curry, I really loved how the roasted duck skin was cooked so crispy and thin! Highlight- They provide you several curries, meat and rice options so you can make your favorite combination! My recommendation is to order the wide noodles( Pad see Iw) if you prefer savory noodles than sweet noodles ( sometimes the sauce is sweet) Would definitely go back again and try the red curry with roasted duck!
Honestly, so far the best Thai noodles I've tried in San Diego. Simply put, Pad Thai is my favorite among all the Asian noodle varieties, however, in this restaurant, the undisputed winners were the so-called Drunken Noodles. They told me they were spicy, so I ordered them medium. They weren't spicy enough for me, so next time I'll go for a higher level. The Pad Thai here is really really good, with a perfect sweet and sour contrast. I have to admit that the tofu wasn't my favorite, but it was liked by my wife. The service was very good, we'll definitely come back!
Kiin Extraordinary Thai offers delicious food from a very friendly staff. This was my second time here and we all really enjoyed our meals. We shared an order of Fresh Spring Rolls to start, and then I ordered the Moo Yang Mixture. Both dishes were well presented and delicious. I would definitely eat here again.
Wanted excellent Thai and took my wife here. It’s in the trendy Skydeck portion of Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Pad Thai was phenomenal, it beat our favorite restaurant in Dallas. Chicken Tom Yum soup was great but not the pinnacle. Appetizers portion size was not generous, but the quality made up for that. Smallish dining area and shared ambience with the other 8 kitchens, which made it a little loud (but to be clear it was early on New Year’s Eve). Ginger tea was surprisingly rich and a little sweet. Noon was an attentive and skilled server. Kiin offers excellent Thai without breaking the bank.
My absolute FAVORITE Thai restaurant in San Diego!! Authentic, fresh creative dishes with friendly, efficient service. I always get the Panang curry (with shrimp) but this time I tried the sole with lime ginger sauce which was equally delicious. As a chef myself, I am super picky and usually don’t repeat destinations. But Kiin Thai has me addicted and coming back as a regular.
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Eating here was like experiencing what Anton Ego felt when eating the Ratatouille. It tasted so good, the food was the one of the best I ever had and the Thai tea was amazing!! I swear I saw the childhood flashbacks it was really a good place. I always hesitate when getting curry since I was never much a fan but it’s now my favorite ever. I would eat here everyday, don’t miss your chance and try this place out. I got the Braised Beef Panang Curry (mild) and also some Thai tea, the best food ever! The atmosphere was so pretty and the service was super nice and fast. 11/10 best place! Definitely my new favorite restaurant and food. (I’m not being sarcastic it’s just a reference from a movie since I thought the food was really good)
I ordered door-dash from this restaurant and it was amazing. The flavors were so good in the red curry and the veggies maintained their crisp and were cooked to perfection. I now really want to go to this restaurant to try it out!
Absolutely fabulous. I had the house fried rice and the pad see ew. Both were amazing. The meals did not disappoint. Looks like they have a strong take out system going too, though we chose to eat in. It’s a good atmosphere but it’s in a food court FYI but they have their own area with tables.
Found this one on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It is located in a large Del Mar heights town center. It has different restaurants around the area. We ordered the Tom Yum soup which is a bit salty but not bad. Ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken and it's so delicious. It is hot with "wok breath". The Penang curry with beef that comes with rice tastes very good too. The beef is tender and the curry included vegetables. Will visit again if we are in the area
Kiin Extraordinary Thai truly lives up to its name. The flavors are bold, authentic, and beautifully balanced, every dish tastes thoughtfully crafted and full of fresh ingredients. From their rich curries to the perfectly seasoned noodles and vibrant appetizers, everything is consistently delicious and packed with real Thai flavor. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, and the staff is friendly, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations. Portions are generous, presentation is excellent, and the quality stands out every time. If you’re craving Thai food that feels elevated without losing its authenticity, Kiin Extraordinary Thai is an absolute must-visit. Exceptional food, great service, and an overall memorable dining experience.
The pad thai noodles really set this place apart from other pad thais I've eaten. They're a bit thinner than the usual pad thai noodle, and I think it really elevated the dish, it was so good! I believe they're known for the noodles too. The service was great, and the place had a nice atmosphere. It was a tad loud/hard to hear, due to it being in the Sky Deck, so any restaurant in the Sky Deck will have this situation. Overall yummy, and I would go back!
We really enjoyed our dinner here. We went on a weekday around 6pm and were able to get seated before the rush soon after. People had to wait to be seated around 6:30pm onwards. The food was delicious. There were many vegetarian options. My friend mainly ordered vegetarian and chicken dishes. Everything was really full of flavors and I especially like their yellow curry.
We ordered: Money Bags Tom Yum Coconut Soup Beef Curry Chicken & Veggies Blondie Beer Mango Iced Tea Mango & sticky rice for dessert! All items were delicious!! I'd like to try the entire menu, mild was a little spicy for me and the curry, money bags were yummy and cute! Mango dessert was a great way to end the meal. They pack up your left overs for you and pay for tab at the table. This entire food ball had a lot of other great options that I can't wait to try out!
Great food, wonderful service and excellent prices. We ordered 4 different dishes and all were delicious. We also tried their hot tea and iced Taro milk, both of which were great. The servers were very nice and the space was very clean. Your food gets ready quickly and you don’t have to wait as long for your food. Make sure to try their Duck meat and their fried rice.
Update: Have yet to find a better red curry here in San Diego. It’s creamy and rich, and the duck is fantastic. Upgrading to 5 stars. Also loved the green beans, which were crispy and crunchy, and the yum moo yang salad. The pork was incredibly tender and tangy. Both are easy reorders. I also tried the ube cheesecake and the passion fruit shortbread. Both were well made, but leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. Decent red curry. Think I prefer mine a bit more sweet and tangy. But nice veggies. I also liked that I could sub rice for more veggies. The duck was tasty too! Would order again.
Wow mango rice 10/20 stars. Thai tea coconut is 8/10 stars. Great place great atmosphere great vibe here.
We ordered fresh spring rolls with shrimp to share and was surprised my 3yr old ate some though he didn't want any sauce with it. I think he liked the fresh crunchiness of it. My husband and I couldn't decide whether we liked the peanut sauce or the other dipping sauce better so I used them both! For our entree I ordered the braised beef panang curry and boy was my husband jealous! He ordered the ginger wok dish and it was good but I tasted it after mine and it just couldn't compete! The beef was so tender and the curry had a nice sweetness to it. Awesome! I ordered it "as mild as you can make it" for my little ones, and myself really, and it was perfect. Just the slightest heat to get them used to it but didn't bother him or my 9 month old. I ordered an additional side of rice to soak up the Curry and have more to share with my kids and I was able to take some leftovers home which is nice since the price was a bit more than we usually spend for lunch.
Kiin is the best Thai food in the area (and most likely San Diego)!! The Panang Curry Beef is a must try. You will notice the aroma and taste of fresh herbs. This is definitely not something out of a can. I spoke to the owner and was told that the beef was simmered for over three hours. No wonder it was tasty and tender. We also noticed how fresh and crunchy green beans were. We also had Pad Thai shrimp (my baseline to figure out if a Thai restaurant is worth going back). It was perfectly seasoned like what you would taste in Thailand. Shrimps were perfectly cooked. The service was great too. Didn't have a chance to try dessert since we promised the kids to get ice cream. Will definitely go back.
What a cute place! I love the modern and unique style of Sky Deck. And this Thai restaurant is so delicious. I tried the red curry, which they will ask you how spicy you like it. It is flavorful, coconuty and satisfying. For rice, you can also choose from brown or jasmine rice, and they will service it on the same plate with curry in a lovely heart shape. My husband ordered their signature Siamese beef dish, it comes with a papaya side salad and sticky rice. We love here, will recommend!
Delicious Thai spot located in a modern food court. The dishes we had were amazing and probably the best Thai food I have had in a while. I got mild for spice level and was pleased. Had a bit of a kick, so if you are sensitive to spice go with mild and you can always add more spice! I went with the chef special beef panang currry and we also had the yellow curry. Both fantastic tasting and we will be back!
Could not recommend the Beef Panang Curry more! The beef is so tender and the vegetables in the curry are so flavorful. We also loved the fried fish dish. Everything came in generous portion sizes and service was excellent.

Visited for Lunch and enjoyed our meal. Fired Rice and Noodle tasted great

by far THE BEST THAI FOOD I have ever had!! We ordered the pineapple fried rice, massaman curry, pad thai, and drunken noodles this has been the best I have ever tasted! So flavorful and tasty! the egg rolls were so good! the sauces are free from fish and oyster sauce but you can't even tell! I HIGHLY recommend this place. I don't think most people could handle a spice level higher than medium (3/10), the food is pretty spicy.
I ordered door-dash from this restaurant and it was amazing. The flavors were so good in the red curry and the veggies maintained their crisp and were cooked to perfection. I now really want to go to this restaurant to try it out!
Ordered take-out yellow curry which was filled with color, chunks of carrots, potatoes, bok choy and green beans; very flavorful and the right amount of "mild". Recommend adding mushrooms to liven it up just a bit more. Kind staff at the front assisting with directions in finding this location. *Hint to owner: perhaps increase rice portions considering entree prices. Overall a pleasant experience.
Restaurant is inside a well decorated food court with its own sitting area. Ambience is kind of relaxing. Didn’t dine in. Ordered a take out. Ordered drunken noodle (spicy noodle) and it’s very tasty. Noodles are fried to excellence, has the nice “breath of wok” of stir frying. All the side veges are very compatible with the dish ( bell peppers, onion, carrot). Would be great if there is some broccoli in the mix. Fried tofu is a little bit on the dry and the inside is not juicy enough. Other than that, all is good. Recommended.
Tom Kha Soup 4 sour creamy coconut milk, shrimp not juicy Banana Creamcheese Eggroll 5 multi-layer crispy wrap, creamy, refreshing, not too sweet
Love to come to sky deck for a beer and to watch the game. This time I got hungry upstairs and tried to see if they had anything good here. My single plate of Se Ew was over $23 and it was not anything special. Was pretty decent at first but the egg noodles began to fall apart very quickly. Maybe it was what I ordered?
The food was average compared to most other places. The pad Thai was much more sweeter then norm but the spicy noodle 🍜 was great. Atmosphere was pleasant.
The service was okay….Food was not too tasty to me, but the soup was pretty good. I expected much more for my fried rice, but it was sub par. Also, the food tasted very sweet as if they add sugar to it. If you want real authentic Thai, I’d search for a different place and location.

Shrinkflation seems to have hit them in the past few months. We used to be regular here, every Friday evening, so we can tell that the portion size of menu items like spicy noodles had reduced drastically. Would love to rate them higher if they fix the portion size. The taste is on the sweeter side, but I don't mind it. They are vegan friendly.

I have been here several times, but this is the worst experience ever. I ordered seafood salad and Tom yum soup. The soup is very good I even got two, but the salad was horrible. First of all, the whole sale is lukewarm not like the cold salad I was expecting, which makes the vegetable soggy and bad. Secondly, the sauce doesn’t have enough flavor, making everything taste bland. Thirdly, the fish in salad is very odd and the fish doesn’t taste fresh at all. When I talked to the waiter about it he said that’s how it is made in Thailand. I am pretty sure they don’t put fish in salad and their salad is not warm. I’m even asking for a refund I just want some acknowledgment that their salad tastes bad, but no, the waiter insisted that it is the way of making seafood salad in Thailand and implied it’s my problem that I don’t like it. By the way the salad is $18.95.

The Pad Thai noodles were glass noodles and not very flavorful. Portions were small and sauce tasted fishy, not balanced. After ordering online via the restaurants website for pickup, we arrived just after the “quoted” ready time and I arrived to find my order buried under a pile of already prepared orders. The timing was obviously not very accurate indicating a need for better order response integration. My daughter ordered the Pad Thai at a #2 and she was crying- I ordered mine at a #7 and was disappointed with the spice level. I ordered a green curry since we were trying it out, the flavor was OK, definitely have had better curries than this one. Disappointed as they were mentioned in a prior review and didn’t deliver. Overall, I’d not recommend- at least until they work out some of these issues. Definitely not the quality you’d expect for the location and price.
I had a pretty bad experience here. I love Thai food and have tried many Thai restaurants, both locally and in Thailand, but this was a letdown. The food was excessively sweet, and when I asked the waiter about it, he rudely said we don't need to mention about sweetness and you should know Thai food is sweet. He started arguing, insisting that adding palm sugar to curry is standard and that all Thai restaurants serve this sweet food. His response was rude and unhelpful, making the whole experience frustrating. This level of customer service was unacceptable. Overall, this was my first genuinely negative experience with a Thai restaurant and the rude unprofessional waiter.
We eat here every week because it’s closest to our house, but every time especially this time the service was awful. All of the people that work here are insanely rude. We asked for a side of chili oil and they said they didn’t have any. We normally get a side every week. Then they bring our food out and it’s seasoned with chili oil. We asked for a side after all of the trouble and the rudely gave us a side of the chili oil after all and we paid 1.00$ for it. Which we are happy to do, but they were so rude from the moment we sat down! Will not be eating here again primarily due to the service. I don’t recommend coming here for hospitality reasons.
Maybe it’s the bad economy in 2025, but every Thai restaurant owner & chef has to make a choice: go authentic or go sickly sweet. Kiin (eat) Extraordinary Thai, with its upscale atmosphere, and excellent service is serving horribly sweet Thai food. It’s Thai in looks only. It’s exactly what you would get at a European resort in southern Thailand. In the past the cuisine made at KET was delicious, similar to what you might get in Bangkok. But now, I’m sorry to report, it’s oozing with sugar. If you’re a diabetic, don’t come here. If you like authentic Thai food, don’t come here. If you have no clue and no pallet, do enjoy the candied cuisine. The spicy papaya salad is served in sugar water, the sun-dried pork, is ground & grilled- looks like hamburger and has no crunch. There is nothing spicy. There isn’t a Thai condiment anywhere to be seen, and if you ask for them, they don’t have them. Lots tell tale signs here: no spoons, knifes on the table. KET is extraordinary in that the cuisine is sickly sweet.
