Opinions de Mr. Frostie San Diego
Quick and efficient. Great products for reasonable prices. Love the quality of care. The portions are wonderful
A fun little place to get ice cream while out walking around shopping and having a nice day. Friendly super quick service and tasty treats! I couldn't finish mine and neither could my friend.
This place is a local institution. The customer service is great and so is the ice cream. My only complaint is that they aren't open later!
The large hot fudge Sundays are excellent. Soft serve ice cream with more than enough hot fudge.
It’s a rare and wonderful day to have a delicious dessert that is inexpensive without feeling cheap. This is a true spot to take the family and everybody comes away happy. There will almost certainly be a line, but it moves fast, so not much waiting. And it’s a great vibe. Walk to the counter, order, pay, and grab your food at the next. The place is almost always bumping, so it’s unlikely you’ll be able to sit down. Honestly though, you’re in PB. There are almost limitless numbers of excellent places to walk.
My husband and I are in San Diego for a few days. We were craving ice cream but didn't know the best place to go. After finding Mr. Frostie on Google, we headed there. What a gem this place is! My husband had one of the best-looking, tastiest banana boats he has ever had. I ordered the chocolate cake hot fudge. It was so good! The ice cream is creamy and good, the hot fudge was delicious and generous, and the chocolate cake was moist and good. We almost passed this place by because it's so small. I'm glad we didn't! If we ever return to San Diego, we will visit here again! Who knows, maybe we'll go again for ice cream before we head back to Missouri!
I swung by this ice cream shop last weekend and honestly, it was a pretty nice experience. The place has a cozy vibe, and the staff were friendly, greeting everyone with smiles. I tried the salted caramel and cookies & cream, and both flavors were smooth and creamy without being overly sweet. The portions felt fair for the price too. It’s not a huge spot, but it’s perfect if you’re just looking for a casual treat. I’ll probably come back next time I’m in the area, especially on a hot day.
We have been going here for over 40 years. We brought our 3 sons after swim lessons. Now our grandchildren enjoy coming with us. The soft serve is creamy and they serve generous portions. Good variety of menu choices and I highly recommend the peanut butter milkshake. Try one of their many great sandwiches aa well.
The chili dogs were great, and we tried the blueberry shakes, which were delicious. Parking is tough anywhere in Pacific Beach, but they have a 20-minute limit so you don't have to wait too long to get a spot. We will definitely be stopping by again.
I don’t know Mr. Frostie’s first name. Maybe it’s Francis. Maybe it’s Jean-Paul. Maybe his first name is actually Mister. Is he even real? What nationality is the surname “Frostie”? These are questions the average customer might brush past, but not me. You can’t distract me from the truth with delicious ice cream. Upon combing through the Mr. Frostie website, you will find that there is no information on this Frostie fellow. We’re told that the current owners aren’t the original owners, so the origin of the Frostie name is either a secret or it’s lost in time. And of course, there’s the possibility that Mr. Frostie is merely the mascot and nothing else. But does it make sense? Would an anthropomorphic ice cream cone be the guiding force behind an ice cream shop? Isn’t that a conflict of interest? Anyway, I had the Hot Fudge Cake. My wife had the Dirt Cup. They were delicious. The Hot Fudge Cake was the better option, in my opinion. She disagrees.
Some of the best soft serve in Pacific Beach. Have so many great memories of coming to Mr Frostie's, and would really recommend checking the place out. Offer great dessert combinations.
Read the reviews and had to come check it out. I’m a native of San Diego and never been here. Great prices and the ice cream is even better. Hangin out with my son and his friends for his Birthday. He didn’t want cake and wanted ice cream after lunch. Glad we came and will be back soon. Thanks Mr Frostie.
The best ice cream in town if you like soft serve. Soft serve from wienerschnitzel and McDonald's has a weird chemical taste to it that I can't stand. Mr frosty's ice cream doesn't have that, it tastes like real ice cream. You also can't beat their prices. I've tried their chili dog it was not so great. The ice cream is what you go there for. So I highly recommend their ice cream.
My absolute favorite ice cream spot in all of San Diego ❤️! They always have vanilla and chocolate soft serve but they also rotate flavors (the coconut and pineapple are amazing)!!
Mr. Frostie rules! So delicious, affordable and family-run since 1949. I grew up here and we come back every time we're in San Diego. Now my son loves Mr. Frostie, too! Next time, I'll get a T-shirt. 💜🤙🍦
Mr Frostie's has the best chicken salad I've had. No where else compares or even comes close to being so good. They have very good food and good ice cream, too. I drive From East county with friends & family when I want chicken salad!!! Never change!!!
Went to Mr. Frostie today and the flavor selection was amazing: pistachio, dole whip, mango, etc. a small cone was ~2.50 which I think is very reasonable and my sandwich was nine dollars which is good for an on the go meal. Everything was absolutely delicious, we got a mango pineapple swirl cone.
This place is unbelievable. It's an icon of PB as a whole, and it's been around since the 1940s, long before I was born. Their menu is fairly straightforward, and the service was pretty fast. I've never had one of their shakes, though I hear it's good. I got their dirt cup, the cheapest option on their menu, but it hits the spot, with gummy bears and chocolate ice cream.
Love this place so much! Reminds me of the soft serve place I used to visit during my childhood 😄 The soft serves taste so good, the quantities are very good for the price and the angel cake is extremely fluffy and light! You will get addicted to this place 😁 It has such a fun vibe too, with little benches to sit outside and kids playing around.
It’s hard to not love Mr. Frostie. A San Diego ice cream staple, this spot has never disappointed me. They have a pretty big selection, ranging from sundaes to splits to various dipped ice cream cones. I’ve always been partial to the odd combo of cherry-dipped coffee ice cream. It’s also pretty cheap and the location lends itself to a nice stroll while eating/licking (they also have outside seating). Definitely gotta hit Mr. Frostie whether you’re exploring San Diego or just a native on another beach day.
Stopped by Mr. Frosty in Pacific Beach on a Sunday afternoon, and even though there were about 10 people in line, it moved surprisingly fast. They have a great variety of cold desserts to choose from, which makes it fun for both kids and adults. I ordered the twist, and it was really good — creamy, smooth, and refreshing, especially on a warm day. Great spot for a casual dessert in PB, and I’d definitely come back again.
I walked into a horror scene tonight. Must’ve been over 5 thousand flies swarming the shop. Kids were screaming, other guys yelling bugs were in their face. I got out of the car and bugs were flying in and on me and my wife. Why were they even open when having such a horrid bug problem? I have no idea but surely they are in the ice cream as well. Just nasty.
