Opinions de Papa's Pizza San Diego
We were looking for a place to get some food. we tried at papas pizza. The worker were really friendly, the food was great.we had pizza and chicken strips with fries. The food was great and the price was better.
Me and my father are weekly customers of this place, sometimes I even just order ranch for my homemade food, everything they have is so high quality and delicious, I couldn't steer you wrong saying that everything on the menu is amazing. Never had any problems, best food you can get, even the appetizers which double as meals, are amazing and I've tried them all. We love you boys, thanks for amazing food. -Your neighbors at the apartment

You don't come here for the atmosphere, you don't come here for the service. You come here for some of the best pizza in the Clairmont/Balboa area near by. Does it take a while for them to make your pizza? Yes. Is it absolutely worth the wait? YES it saddens me that this place has 4.1 stars when the quality of their pizza is absolutely worth 4.6, and I've been having their pizza for over 3.5 years now. The first pizza I got has Mushrooms and Artichoke hearts on it and immediately I fell in love with Papas Pizza, they are not a big chain that can make a fake pizza in a matter of minutes, they are a place you go for quality pizza and that's hard to find. Good cheese, good toppings, good everything. I'm a thin crust or no pizza kinda guy, unless it's Papa's Pizza. I will gladly eat their pizza every time I order or see it brought home to reheat. Don't let the 4.1 rating fool you, this place pumps out some really, genuinely mouthwatering pizza, it just takes them a little longer than other places but is 110% worth the extra wait time.
Been ordering from here for years. Always fresh and delicious - excellent quality. I would add a picture of the pizza and meatballs but we ate it already. 🌟 so yummy 🌟
Found this place on a whim. Delicious and very pleased with this little establishment. Authentic Italian and a good price. Pepperoni Pizza, Spaghetti with butter and cheese, and tortellini with Pesto sauce. Pasta plates came with garlic bread and salads. Flavors were incredible. Store was clean and food came out quickly. Both gentlemen were nice and efficient. Sad that we live 2 hours away or this would be a regular stop for us. No pictures before my boys devoured the food.
Great food, great prices. Will continue coming back.
Really enjoyed the wings as they were actually cooked correctly with crunchy skin and the pizza was done well and tasty.

I like the quality of the food here. I have eaten hear many times, as it is in my neighborhood. I have not had a bad meal since they upgraded the ingredients a while ago. There are items on the menu not usually served a t a small family pizzeria l, but very good.
The pizza pie was delicious, crispy, fast and the customer service was fabulous! We will definitely be back.We had a sixteen inch pizza with extra sauce.
Ive been usin papas for a few years. The piza is not fantastic but is a good deal. Great to order ahead and pick up. But a few days ago, i ordered ahead for eat in. Allway in the past was a good time. Walk in, the place is empty, the tables are dirty, and the pie had just been boxed. Not on the platter. Then the guy grabs some cheap cheap paper plates, unpeeled 2 off since they were stuck together and walked away. We had to ask for silverware and a couple of glasses. Brought our pizza over to a table he brought over some silverware, cleaning them with a towel, an older gentalman came out, we complained of the smallness of the cups. Oh ya, the first slice bleed right thru the plates

it says they close at 10 and me and my friend came in at 9ish ordered our food and they wouldn’t allow us to eat inside. so we ate in the car which sucked. they ended up closing at 9:15 which is kinda annoying. huge portions. pasta was good. our salads were wet like they didn’t fry the lettuce at all. they don’t serve soda.
Eats: Mushroom Pepperoni Pizza, Greek Salad, Spaghetti with Chicken, Garlic Bread This is a local joint that's pretty hidden in Clairemont Mesa. Most that frequent here know this place for coupons and delivery. I did the complete opposite and dined in. The small dining room area could accommodate about 5 groups and is surprisingly clean and bright, but other than that the amenities are pretty bare. A request for water would come with a disclaimer that it's straight from the tap, but adversely no offer for ice. Funny is that when our salad came out it was a big bowl and 3 forks. We had to ask for plates the next time he came and dropped off our garlic bread. The garlic bread was a bit plain, with barely any garlic flavor to remember. Spaghetti was pretty traditional, but had a familiar from-the-can feel. Still palatable nonetheless. The pizza redeemed this place a bit. The others proclaimed an abundance of sauce and cheese, but I did not have the same experience. If anything, I felt the flavor of the sauce was lacking. The bread was also pretty standard with no notable flavors or texture. I would probably consider other places before I return, but if the after-coupon price is right, this is a college town anyway.
Well, this is the 2nd time!! Papa's what happen to your wonderful Pizza???? 4 week ago we ordered a pizza was so bad!! Smelled like old greese...we waited and decided everyone has a bad day. So ordered today 4/4/20. While the old greese smell and taste was gone the pizza was a lot less on toppings and cheese. One more time, 3rd times a charm if bad. Im done... Please bring back the Excellent fully loaded Papas Pizza!!!

Dont usually write reviews but this place is an exception. If the customer service isn’t going to be good I’d at least expect the food to make up for it. But I was otherwise proven wrong. Got the calamari and it was not edible, was hard as rock and burnt. Pizza was very mid. Looks like the guy who made it was in a rush to get Home and was too lazy to make another batch. Would not recommend this place.
Yeah don’t order these… worst representation of garlic fries. Can’t believe I paid money for this. Their signature pizza was also trash! Customer service? Again horrible!! 0/10. Try another place!!!
How annoying is it arriving somewhere and realizing it's closed. We arrived at 9:15pm. The sign clearly says it's open and Google and yelp say it's open till ten, but we arrived and the doors were locked. If you look close there was a guy there in the front making boxes. And instead of just confirming with us that it's closed he just completely ignored us when we were at the door. So my review is based off the service. We didn't even get to try the food 😒.
Ordered a pastrami sandwich and got 90% lettuce, would not recommend and won't go back.

They try to hide the fact that they charge a surcharge on all items. Their website does not mention it, the in-store menu does not mention it, and they initially would not provide an itemized receipt, so you never see what you are being charged. When I pointed out that I was overcharged, the cashier said it was just tax. I asked for a receipt, and he tried to give me the credit card receipt, which does not show item prices. When I pushed for a full itemized receipt, I saw that every item was priced higher than what was listed on the menu. He again claimed it was tax. When I pressed further, he said it was credit card fees. If that is the case, those fees must be clearly disclosed and listed as a separate surcharge on the menu. The fact that he tried to hide what was happening and gave multiple misleading explanations is not ethical. Businesses are required to clearly inform customers of added fees. Dishonest business. I will not be back.
After 30 years of being a regular customer of Papas Pizza it saddens me to find myself having to provide a one star review and that one star is only provided out of respect for the many visits that I made where there were no issues. I moved to Bay Ho ('the best kept secret in San Diego') in December of 1989 and have been a customer of Papas Pizza at least once a week since then. just to offer my honest experience with the establishment. Over the last 30+ years with an average of one visit a week I have over 1,500 visits to reflect on. The issue that ruined a 30 year relationship began with a Calzon not having the extras that were ordered and paid for. Not the end of the world but when calling to point out the error they respond by treating customers with hositility. I ad this same problem with them years ago on a sandwich order but choose to ignore the way they treated me when I called to point out the problem. Papas Pizza has good food but zero customer service. If you are willing to blindly pay for food that was not made as you ordered without question then you will be happy with this place. After this disagreement I didn't place an order for 6 months and when I finally did call in for an order they hung up on me and have hung up on my nephew when he called to order a sandwich a few months later. A pretty extreme and unusual way to treat a one time very loyal customer. How do you feel about this type of service?
I’ve never had chicken picatta made with spaghetti. I wish I would have known I would have ordered something else. Meanwhile the chicken was tough and inedible 😫
