Opinions de Tapas and Beers San Diego
Our favorite spot for fresh delicious food and Julie and her husband are so welcoming and personable. Food is so consistent too
The Crème brûlée-Flan is to die for! Julie definitely made our night making the best recommendations for food and desert. Her friendly demeanor and customer oriented attitude is outstanding and extraordinaire. Located in the Gaslamp Quarter's historic Spreckels Building, Tapas & Beers offers a delightful fusion of French and Spanish cuisine. This cozy restaurant boasts a menu filled with delectable tapas plates, perfect for sharing and sampling a variety of flavors. each dish is a celebration of fresh, seasonal ingredients. Je reviendrai absolument!
This is one of my favorite places, recently open and the menu is stocked with fusion Tapas, i love the food here. The brussel sprouts are to die for, the calamari strips were cut different and so delicious, the crab cakes are served with 🥑 slices, Mmmmm! The chorizo deviled eggs were different but savory. We loved the truffle fries with bacon, OMG! 🤤I believe the owner served us, she was French 🥰🥰🥰. So far the best place for Tapas in the Gas Lamp Quarter
Great night at Tapas and Beers. With a wide variety of tapas and great service it’s a great spot in San Diego. Recommend making reservations as the space isn’t very large. Most of the beers are IPAs so if you’re into light beers may not be the best spot. Nevertheless there’s a wide variety of tapas
Such a great hidden gem! We had the absolute best time here, with amazing food and drinks, and even better service! Definitely recommend!!!
Incredible! From the warm service from the owners (a lovely couple!) to the delicious food. 10/10. They were incredibly busy and it was just the two of them and somehow, they didn’t skip a beat and we felt taken care of from start to finish. Would highly recommend this place. The best brûlée/flan I’ve ever had! Merci!!!
I was blown away by this place! The ravioles were incredible and the French burger is among the best burgers anywhere. The service was A+ also.
Great little place hidden down a non-descript road. We had paella and meat and cheese boards to split between 2 (ended up with plenty leftover) and all was so delicious and done with care. The server was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back and in my husband's words "amazing". Thanks for the unexpected great meal to end our weekend visiting San Diego.
A perfect spot to grab a bite to eat before show at the Civic Theater. LOVE this place! The owners are super nice, food is great, lots of great beers on tap. Be sure to make a reservation as it gets very busy. Interior has a cool vibe with some upstairs seating, plus there's tables outside........and just steps away from the theater, what's not to love?!!
Truly one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in a while. We were able to get a last minute reservation for 6 during Comic Con; they had no issues setting up a wheelchair accessible table on short notice. The owners are absolutely delightful and incredibly passionate about their food. Everything we had was delicious—we tried Steak Frites, the baked brie, flatbreads, sausage sampler... amazing desserts as well. We will 100% be back here when we visit San Diego next year, highly highly recommend!
This is a charming family run restaurant with delicious food. Highly recommend on all counts.
So I went here about three months ago and forgot to write a review but this is my absolute favorite restaurant. The owners are phenomenal, the beer selection was killer and the food, well, months later I’m still thinking about it. Back in Baltimore now but desperately trying to get back on the west coast for their mushroom Brie baguette app. I’m serious. I’d catch a flight to come back here.
Tapas & Beers is an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting—with a perfect mix of rustic charm and modern flair. The menu is a thoughtful fusion of French and Spanish flavors, offering everything from rich, savory tapas to perfectly balanced mains. We tried the patatas bravas, garlic shrimp, and duck confit—all cooked to perfection and beautifully plated. The wine and craft beer selection was impressive, with options that paired wonderfully with every dish. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff clearly knows the menu well. If you're looking for a place to unwind, share flavorful small plates, and enjoy a cozy evening with amazing food and drinks—this is it. Highly recommend for date nights, group dinners, or anyone who appreciates authentic European cuisine with a creative twist!
Great place, which you leave with the solid intention to come back. Service is fast and attentive, food is fresh and delicious with French and Spanish influence dominating the menu (plus classic American items like burgers). Don't forget to pair it with tap beer or a glass of French wine. Cheers!
This cantina style Spanish/French restaurant has all of the features to make it a winner; good food, attentive service, and conveniently located in the GasLamp District. All tables are high tables, no booths. We dined here on a Monday late afternoon, we were greeted and seated promptly. Our server, Julie, was cordial and professional. For starters I selected the Butternut Squash; great flavor of puree consistency. For main courses we selected to share the Prosciutto Flat Bread, the Warm Goat Cheese Salad, the Peach Burrata, and the Brussel Sprouts; all were well prepared, and tasty, great choices. For desserts we chose the Cheesecake and the Crepe; all we can say, YUMMY. We will definitely patronize this establishment again.
We took a chance while down in San Diego and my goodness did this place payoff. The beer was the perfect kind of cold for a really hot day and the food I mean you see the pictures right OMG. We met one of the owners and had the most amazing day so I thank you Tapas & Beers for the great memories.
If you haven’t eaten at this restaurant, you are MISSING OUT! They had a handicapped accessible table ready when we arrived, the two owners and their crew cooked up an amazing dinner and dessert. The White Santeria was the best I have ever had! Ohhh and the food… mouth watering! This amazing atmosphere was magical, welcoming and excellence! Thank you for an incredible evening!
The atmosphere is fantastic, cozy yet roomy. The food is pure and clean, as fresh as it gets. This is a great fusion of what European food can be while being fresh from the local farms. Highly recommend it. Additionally, the beer selection and wine selection are both fresh and plentiful. Highly recommend
Close to the hotel I was staying at for the conference this place had a good selection of food and beers on tap. Service was really friendly and the food was enjoyable.
Amazing little restaurant tucked away in the Horton Plaza. There isn’t anything negative to say! Everything from the atmosphere, food menu and most importantly, the service was amazing!! Highly recommended as a must visit if you are vacationing or simply passing through the area to a must if you live or frequent the area. Menu had simple selections and everything from the appetizers to entrees were perfectly timed. My only wish is to be able to bring it to the East coast! We will be back ❤️.
Excellent food and vibe! The tapas are definitely “Americanized” so just be prepared for that. The flavors are excellent - we had the brussel sprouts, calamari, and smoked salmon plate. All delicious. I opted for the lamb as my main - it was DELICIOUS. Perfectly cooked, and a slight bit of salt and pepper to season - enough to compliment without overwhelming. The pallella was also authentic and incredible. Well worth the visit!
Fantastic food! This place is perfect if you want great food, great atmosphere, and a place off the beaten path away from the bulk of the tourists. The salmon was cooked to perfection and my wife loved the scallops!
This is definitely a great place to visit! Really warm and friendly servers, and of course truly yummy dishes. The size of the portion is great! We were able to order many different items to share and not overwhelmed. Their flatbread tasted so good, and the quinoa salad was delightful too. Love this place very much! Wish can come back soon! 🥰🥰
Google sent me here when I searched for tapas. I was fortunate to be served by the owner. What a kind and pleasant soul, he was. The restaurant is very lovely. But, the food? DELICIOUS. At first, I wished it was closer to the downtown area near the stadium for him to get more “action”. But then I realized that would take away from the ambience of his restaurant. I want to be relaxed to enjoy a great meal and this is that place.
What a nice place to grab lunch or a full dinner with drinks. I always walk away happy I made the trip. Everything is made from scratch and it shows. Wine is thoughtfully selected and pairs well with the food options. Watermelon sangria is very tasty. Excellent allergy awareness as well. There is a little conflict between the name (sounds Spanish), the food (French-heavy, with Spanish and American influence), and the decor (brewpub). But this is no reason not to check this place out.
Food was exceptional and service friendly even though it was close to closing. Could feel their appreciation for good food and feeding people! Julie is amazing!!!
Hospitality through the roof! Everything we ate here has so much depth in flavor, The moment you taste your first bite you will realize that each dish was crafted with passion. The best lamb chops I have ever had, and I had many! Will eat here every time I come back to San Diego. Great job in making us feel like we were a extension of your family:)
Great place with Tapas and entrees. Indoor and outdoor seating. Loft like area 4 events with 20 or fewer people I would imagine. Good service, good food. I had the pulled pork with pineapple and teriyaki as well as ahi tuna candies who h I would give a 5/5.

I was the only one there lol for the day before thanksgiving but Julie took wonderful care of me. The food was excellent, the beer was as it should be and reasonably priced for lunch. Can’t wait to try again.
I dont know what i expected or how we got so lucky. This place is amazing. We had neither tapas nor beer. Get the brie with the homemade strawberry preserves. Get anything with the strawberry preserves! My husband had the steak, with the cream mushroom sauce and about fell out of the chair. I had the lambchops. They were outrageously good and cooked perfectly. We also had the Basque cheesecake top with the strawberries, and we are now ruined. Run do not walk.

For the most part, delicious food and great drink selection. They only had one server (the owner, manager?) but he was trying to keep up as best he could. My issue was with some of the food. The "caramelized onions" that topped some of the dishes were thoroughly cooked but about 20 minutes shy of becoming caramelized. Also, two people in my party ordered the mushroom soup and it was served about room temperature - they didn't say anything because of the single server...
We stopped here to eat before a show at the civic theater. With reservation, we didn't have to wait for a table. Service - waitress was attentive and quick with our orders. Food came out pretty quick so we were at good time to walk to the theater after our meal. Drinks and food - nitro beer was smooth and had a great taste! We ordered mostly tapas: 2 orders of baked Brie, mushroom flatbread, pull pork sliders, pan con tomate, and mac n cheese. We also ordered 2 orders of seafood paella. All end with a berry crepe as dessert. We all liked our food and will return for other tapas.
Came here to eat before seeing Hamilton and the food was delicious! Portion sizes were big and the owners are so sweet even though they were so busy, they even comped my mom's drink when they saw she didn't really like it! Food came out a bit slowly but that's to be expected when kitchen was slammed but we had such a great time here we can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.
I wanted to love this place. I was disappointed in the tapas. I tried the calamari and the mushroom and Brie toasts. Both were sweet, which I didn’t expect. I did like the panko crust on the calamari, but they were strips, which I didn’t expect. I wish the mushroom brie toasts did t have agave syrup on them, I think it would have been better without. The wine was pretty good though.
Good food, I recommend the tomato and burrata salad. A huge tap beer selection. The atmosphere is like a brewery, with two levels. I went on a Thursday night around 5:30pm and it was decently packed. There was a ply that night and it filled up FAST! The wait staff was very over whelmed and the kitchen slowed a bit, but they held their own. We will be going back again.

We ordered take out from here and the food was ready right on time. The staff was polite and kind and we are happy they were open on New Year’s Eve. Nice option if you are staying at the Westin gas lamp quarters for a quick bite! I ordered the burger and it was a bit well done for me, and the strawberry cheesecake for desert. I wasn’t a fan of the cheesecake being baked or charred on the top as this is how it’s made in France. A lot fo French options if that’s your cup of tea!

Went in at 7pm and the restaurant is completely empty. Only the salad and the fries is actually good , the pane con tomate and the butternut squash is really bland, and the sweet and sour calamari is really really sweet , it should be under the dessert item. When I complain about the calamari , only offer me some lime or lemon
