Opinions de The Rabbit Hole San Diego
we stumbled upon this gem while visiting San Diego and staying nearby — and what a find! The moment we heard Blink-182 playing as we approached, we took it as a sign we had to check it out, and it did not disappoint. The vibe was laid-back yet full of energy, with a great mix of music, ambiance, and personality that immediately drew us in. I ordered the Pisco Sour craft cocktail, and it was absolutely top-notch — perfectly balanced and so refreshing. Cody, our bartender, made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and clearly knows his way around a cocktail shaker. Being within walking distance of our Airbnb was a bonus, but this place is worth going out of your way for. It’s officially on our list of must-visit spots whenever we’re in San Diego!
Turning into one of my favorite spots for an after work drink. Cocktails always executed perfectly, bartenders always friendly (shoutout to Jasmine, Shayne & Eileen), and free popcorn to munch on. They also have a great happy hour!
Love the vibe, it's cozy and retro with well priced drinks and a good happy hour. They sometimes have live music on the weekends (website says every Thursday but we were there on a Saturday night and they had a band playing.) The patio out back is great too!
Quant little bar with an old Western flare. Friendly upgrade service and a get DJ in the house in this night. Nice patio in back and I love the wallpaper in the bathroom. Very impressed with the quality of their popcorn. A must try.
A cozy cabin with a delightful patio and signature drinks that tie it all together! Despite the rush and limited staffing, drinks still came out quickly and to the highest quality.
Updated for 2022: the pandemic didn’t touch this neighborhood gem. Still charming, old-fashioned but laid back bar. No dress code, low prices, and cheesy movies on the screen. An easy recommendation.
Fun place to go. Great drinks and service. Had fun playing music trivia bingo.
A+ bar in normal heights. Sometimes the music can get so loud it’s hard to have a conversation, but still a really fun atmosphere. Street parking only.
Great cocktails, friendly service, quality cocktails, some fun games (if that’s your thing), and super cool homey vintage vibe. Cocktails are $3 cheaper on average than, say, Polite Provisions. Give this place a go! PS— free popcorn!
I absolutely love the atmosphere here! 😍✨ The whole place has such a cozy, retro vibe that instantly makes you feel comfortable. It’s the kind of spot where you can relax, unwind, and just enjoy the moment. The drinks are reasonably priced, which is always a bonus, and their happy hour deals are definitely worth checking out. 🍹💸 They also host live music from time to time, which adds so much character to the experience. 🎶 The website mentions shows every Thursday, but when we visited on a Saturday night, there was a band playing and the energy was fantastic! It made the evening feel even more special and lively. Another highlight is the patio in the back — it’s a great space to hang out, especially when the weather is nice. 🌿🌙 Whether you’re inside soaking in the retro charm or outside enjoying the fresh air, this place has a vibe that keeps you coming back. I’d happily return again! 💛
It's perfect, don't come here! Great dive and cocktail bar mix. Great crowd and amazing bartenders! Order a beer on tap or an espresso martini, the range is top tier here!
Just moved in to the neighborhood Justin kp Eileen made feel home! Can’t wait to be back
The best cocktail bar in Normal Heights, hands down. Fantastic, friendly staff always make it a fun night.
Stopped by Sycamore Den for a quick drink, and I have to say, it didn’t disappoint. The vibe was laid-back with great music, and the place had just the right energy—not too loud, not too quiet. I started with a Whiskey Sour, which was perfect, and followed it up with a Wolf Ticket—smooth, easy to drink, and made just right. The bartender was on it, making sure my glass didn’t stay empty for long. It’s little touches like that that make a place stand out. If you’re looking for a spot with solid drinks and a chill atmosphere, Sycamore Den is worth a visit!
One of the few bars in SD with consistent, amazing service. Everyone is so friendly and attentive, very refreshing. Great atmosphere and drinks as well :)
I just recently moved to the area and had been to some other places on Adams. Last night was my first time at the Syc and I had a great time. Danielle was my bartender and she was polite, friendly and professional. The service was absolutely top notch and worth every bit of the $3 tip I left. Even the bartender who clocked in to relieve her was on point. She clocked in and literally turned around and asked if I needed another drink. She was ready. I will definitely be back often and see myself being a regular here. Atmosphere was very chill. I was alone so that’s what I was looking for. They had live music which was very entertaining and fun to watch. I love this place! P.S. I was kidding! I did not leave a $3 tip. Please spare me 😭
Great happy hour that runs every day from 5-7. Cold beer and fast service. When Eileen plays music it takes the bar to another level. Thank you !
Great place! Good selection of food and beers. They even had holiday cocktails. Several TVs to watch sports and I know they have trivia and live music.
Loved the food, drinks and vibes. We stopped in for lunch and the food definitely was worth the wait. Great selection of beer and cocktails. Yummy menu items. Decently priced.
Loved it! We got the chicharrones and garlic Parmesan wings to start, and the wings were some of our favorites that we’ve found in San Diego. The chicharrones were super fresh and delicious! Lots of drink options, the service was quick, and we were able to bring our dog on the front patio. For our meals, we got the chicken club and Caesar salad. Both were good, but will definitely just get more wings next time.
The Rabbit Hole is a great sports bar to watch sporting events. We went there on a Sunday for lunch to watch some NFL games. The indoor & the outdoor areas are well designed and have comfortable seating. The outside patio has plenty of seating options to watch the games comfortably with your group. In addition, the Rabbit Hole has plenty of TVs showcasing all the different games to support your favorite team. They also have a nice fire pit in the middle of the back patio. The service was fast, several alcohol selections available and the food was very tasty, while affordable. Our favorites were the dry rub wings and the side salad. Overall this is a great place to go with friends to watch sports!
We stopped on a Sunday afternoon and easily found a good spot, straddling inside and out. First thing we noticed is that they had heaters ready over the outside seating, which is great this time of year. We mainly stopped for beers/drinks, but we also ordered elote dip with chips and that was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and the experience was fantastic. Stop by the Rabbit Hole if you’re in the area.
A trusty watering hole, the Rabbit Hole is Just a reliable good time as you can always expect the same thing. Even better that it’s a good place with plenty of TVs that for any big event, it’s hard to not find a spot to see a screen if you want to. The food is better than average bar food with some more variety which is always a plus. Inside and outdoor dining depending on the weather.
Came here Easter Sunday with a friend. Tree drinks were recommended by our server and they were delicious. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was calm and open. I'm disappointed that we didn't stay for three live entertainment but I had an overall great time. If I'm in the area again I will definitely go back
Only walked in to check out more options in the neighborhood. Was super busy and live music playing when I was there...which added to it's ambiance. I'm willing to give it a try.
Went there to watch a football game. Didn't expect much and it exceeded my expectations. Good space for a game. Great server. The wings were cooked perfectly but a little bland (tried three flavors.)
Great food, once we got it! The bartender was super cool, good vibe at the place, but our short stint there was a little rushed, so when the kitchen took over 20 minutes to get an order out we had to take it to go. Otherwise, had a good time and enjoyed a slushy drink that was pretty good!! I'd go back. To the owner: a brisket taco (delish!!), a pretzel, and the elote dip (bangin'!!!). We ate in the car as I had to rush out - this was on 7/19, I believe.
I’ve been to The Rabbit Hole a few times in the past and stopped by again during happy hour for beer and wine. The nachos were great and probably the highlight of the visit. The space is open with a fun and laid-back vibe, although it does get pretty loud. There are plenty of seating options, including both a front and back patio. Service was fine. It wasn’t exceptional, but there were no issues. Overall, it’s a solid spot for casual drinks and bar food.
Even tho the place was unusually busy, our server was very attentive and took time with us. The elote dip was incredible, the wings were very good (able to mix two sauces/rubs), and the gyro was ok (nothing to write home about in my opinion) Great selection of local beers and they have lots of space inside and a nice outdoor area. With the big open doors you can still enjoy the weather from the bar area. Will definitely be back!
Review just for the Chuck Norris burger. Love: Meat quality, seasoned well. Great bun. Overall flavor Don’t love: Came with onion straws and bacon jam, but not enough of either to really taste them. Can’t order burger without fries Price: $16 dub with fries Rec Level: A very solid burger I’d eat again. Tip: Don’t add anything to the burger. It comes with stuff on the side. Leave it.
I went for happy hour and finding parking wasn't bad. The place has a cool vibe and there are tvs to watch games. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and they just didn't taste that good. The beer cheese had a strange taste and and the cheese curds were mediocre. The drinks here are amazing and service is decent.
I use to love the wings but they were tasteless? They have a wide selection of beers, but after 3 samples I was told i had to pay a dollar for each samples after??? 12 wings, tater tots, and 3 pints was over $50!!!!! I will find a different spot unfortunately......
We’d never dined here before, so I chose the restaurant for my husband’s birthday celebration—eight of us in total. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a single table large enough to seat us all together, forcing me to pull up a bar stool at the end. Service began promisingly: drinks arrived promptly, and the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy at that point. The Trio appetizer and fried pickles were both enjoyable highlights. Things took a sharp turn once our entrées arrived. The fries were cold, overly hard, and completely lacking in flavor. By this time, attention from our server had dwindled to nothing. Soon every glass at the table was empty—no refills on drinks and, more concerning, no water served with our meals. I eventually had to track down the server just to request basic water. To make matters worse, as the evening progressed, the lighting was dimmed so low that we could barely see our food. The evening concluded on a similarly frustrating note: I asked for two to-go boxes and never received them, so I ended up fetching them myself from near the bar. Overall, the experience was deeply disappointing for what was meant to be a special birthday dinner, leaving us all feeling underwhelmed. I don’t place full blame on our server—she appeared to be the only one working the floor and likely became overwhelmed as more guests arrived (something any restaurant should expect during a holiday week). At minimum, though, keeping guests hydrated shouldn’t be too much to ask, and a simple heads-up about short staffing would have gone a long way.
This place can be great, but I went for the first time with a small child and they were so unaccommodating. We stood around for maybe 15 minutes and asked for help with seating twice and ultimately were sent away basically. They were much more focused on seating groups of adults. bummer for the parents and aunts and uncles With little ones.
- Nice outdoor patio / dog friendly which was nice - Service was ok - Food was underwhelming, besides the elote dip. That was pretty solid. We got the tacos on taco tuesday and the specialty burger, both options weren't great. - I was pretty disappointed with all of the drinks I got and did not finish any. I got a cider and seltzer, both on draft - both had very odd/unpleasant tastes. I decided to switch to a cocktail after those and got an espresso martini that tasted just like sugar syrup.
Overall the place is okay. The beer selection is weak and overpriced for some beers and great prices on others. The plates are overpriced for quality that it is. The children's food came out great and if you go during happy hour at least your can get half price appetizers. The appetizers are okay but not the best. No real parking which is normal for the area. For the price there are a number of other restaurants that do a better job on quality of food. The beer is normal and not special so I am not sure why so many 5 stars? I would like to know what there specialty is? Update September 19th 2021: I am going back through all my reviews of restaurants to be more stringent and to compete my due diligence of each. I have set forth three rules that all restaurant will need to follow to get a three star rating. The three rules for restaurants is the keep it fresh, keep it clean, and keep it simple! Getting a four or five star will become harder, but not impossible! Why? Well, people rating poor restaurants as five stars when they are barely a two or three is commonplace in Google Maps and I would like to fix this problem.
I ordered a Moscow mule and then took a sip. It was bitter and contained no alcohol. I asked the bartender if she put alcohol in it and she looked me in the eye and said yes. Epic Fail
Place is terrible now compared to what it used to be. So sad. UPDATE/EDIT: The owner’s response asked for specifics, so here they are: I’ve visited this bar many times over the years and it used to be great, but the quality has shifted. One of my specific issues was being charged for a double that I personally watched the bartender free-pour, fill with mixer, and end up being weaker than a standard single. When a customer pays a premium for a double, it isn't “berating” staff to expect the basic effort of a measured pour to ensure they get what they paid for. If management’s first instinct is sarcasm rather than addressing consistency behind the bar, it confirms my original point: the place just isn't what it used to be.
Ive never had a flavorless burger until I came here. If you want water, you have to get it yourself. 20 bucks for brisket nachos, literally a tablespoon of meat. Wanted to pay and there's nobody in sight. Shitty food and service
