Tofu House is a popular Korean spot known for its delicious and affordable tofu soups and hot stone dishes. Many appreciate the generous portions and tasty banchan. Some find the galbi can be overcooked and the flavor inconsistent compared to other Korean restaurants.

Opinions de Tofu House San Diego
Our goto delicious & healthy dinner crave spots!Took my vegetarian friend to try this while on food hopping and she was absolutely gagged & blown away with crunch rice & kimchi concept!
Delicious, silky boiled tofu. The banchan was pretty good. Could maybe use a refill on the kimchi but this is a great no frills lunch spot. I’ll definitely come back and work my way around the menu.
I LOVE their seafood combo tofu soup. My friend got their dumplings tofu soup. Either way - order a tofu soup! Their bon chon are always great, I love their radish. They also provide a raw egg if you want to add it to your dish as well. Their portions are very sufficient and priced well. Highly recommend.
Enjoy a meal here. The portion size is fair and the taste of the food is worth the price. No fuss place to have a meal. No need for a one hour wait at the other restaurants in the area. Enjoy a comforting meal here with a hot bowl of soup, rice and meat if needed. Yum.
Tofu both fried and stewed was delicious. Broth was spicy and flavorful with nice seafood stock base. Service was great compared to some other restaurants in Convoy. Great ambiance and themed atmosphere, but also a bit noisy inside during the dinner rush.
We originally planned to eat at the korean restaurant across the parking lot but the wait time was too long. We opted for Tofu House and we were happy we did. No wait time, the dining area space and decor was much larger, but most importantly the food tasted delicious. We were hungry the combos made the perfect pick. I went with the galbi and soft tofu soup. Add on the korean pancake appetizer and we walked out full and happy. Will be back.

Never had the hot stone dishes before this and let me tell you they were HOT. The rice on the bottom of the bowl continues to cook as you eat and get SUPER crispy. I got the tofu bowl which was seasoned well. They give you a bunch of eggs that you can crack to put into your hot stone bowl to cook them. Lots of little dishes before which were nice. This place was hopping on a Wednesday. The plaza that it’s in is all food establishments so the parking here gets crazy busy at night.

Friday night walk in around 630pm no wait Love The food here but I wish they have sesame oil or chili oil Cucumber Is the best
Kind of what I expected. The food was good the servers were frantic and overworked. The place was clean and pleasant. They seems a bit shorthanded, by one or two servers, which is typical these days. The food quality was good, the service reasonably quick and the portions acceptable. We left satisfied. The beef dishes were nicely done. Expect to wait 15 to 20 min for your food and spend at least $20 per person.
Really enjoyed the seafood fried rice and chef's special combo meal. The fried rice had shrimp and scallops with the mixture of white and purple rice. It was simple, not super flavorful but good. The seafood tofu soup was delicious, filled with toppings. The galbi wasn't bad but it was too burnt, or charred. Their banchans were good as well, and refillable upon request. Service was prompt, too.
Tofu House in San Diego is a great spot for a quick and satisfying lunch. The place is clean, service is fast, and the food is solid. The kalbi ribs are a standout.
Reasonable priced flavorful food and good Banchan. However, I got the boil on tofu with chicken and it came with ground chicken and small overcooked vegetables. It would’ve been a lot better with pieces of chicken and more high-quality vegetable cuts.

Pretty good, but not amazing given the price and the atmosphere, not sure I'd come back. Pros: the food came out super fast, like insanely fast. There was also almost no wait to get a table. The food was super hot -- we waited much longer for our food to cool down to a edible temperature than to get to our table. Cons: The food was good, but not something I'd write home about, especially for the price. We spent $20 each including tip, no drinks or appetizers. The restaurant was also extremely smoky, as in health-code violation smoky. They really need better ventilation for the kitchen. It was nice that there were vegan options, but honestly I'm not 100% sure they were vegan. We explained we only wanted vegan (no meat, dairy, eggs) but they kept trying to bring us egg.
Not very crowded on a weekend. Compared to The Fire Spot, I would rather going to the Fire Spot but unfortunately that place has a super long wait-list... This place offers hot stone fried rice, tofu soups, combo with meat and soup. We ordered combo #1 and Fried rice meat party. The picture is deceptive for combo #1 as it is just short ribs with a mini bowl of seafood soup. The fried rice meat party was okay with the portion. The service is not good. The plates are very hot but they were not careful and it almost touched our phone on the table. They also wanted take away dish that was not done for us. The bottled water is from Costco but there was no upfront reminder that the water is not free. This came as a surprise to us. The side dishes are complimentary and you can order more, which is nice.
Want to leave before we order any food . The server makes us feel very uncomfortable. But he bring side dishes. Don't want to be rude so we stay. Side dish look dry and already eaten... We still continue with our adventure because this plaza is so hard to find parking. Food was not as good as expected. Will not come again.

What led to a mid review was both the quality and portion of food. The combo deal is way better than getting the galbi alone, as they are the same price but the galbi alone portion was the same as the combo deal’s portion. It kind of felt like a scam for money if you just got the galbi alone. Get the combo to get your money’s worth. The quality was alright, but there are better tofu places out there for cheaper price.
We were looking to eat next door, but the wait was too long. We ordered Bulgogi for the littles and soondobu (the Chef's special and Seafood special). While I appreciated the amount of seafood, we both felt the soups lacked flavor compared to other shops.

The Tofu House delivered a meal that felt underwhelming across several dishes, making the overall experience just average. The boild tofu was hot and comforting at first glance, but the broth lacked depth and richness, leaving the flavor feeling somewhat flat. The galbi was the biggest disappointment—they arrived slightly burnt, which overpowered the marinade and made the texture tougher than it should have been. The dumplings were serviceable but entirely forgettable, offering none of the crispness or savory punch that might elevate them. While the service was polite and the atmosphere comfortable, the food itself didn’t quite meet expectations, making it a place that fills a need rather than one you’d purposefully seek out again.

Worst Korean restaurant I have ever been to, side dishes were a joke, less than my leftovers. Order a combo with spicy tofu, our whole table’s tofu came all non-spicy. The Korean short ribs came burnt like charcoal. Service was bad. Food was bad,
Just to be clear, the one star is not for the servers—they were great. It’s all for the food. The galbi and stone pot rice were so overcooked and burned that you couldn’t even eat them—the smoke was a full-on smoky mess, reeking of that awful burnt smell. The side dishes were dried out, like they’d been sitting out forever or maybe even reused. 3 dishes for $70, If you don’t want cancer, I’d stay far away from this place.
The pictures say it all. The food is burnt to cancer level. The dish look dirty, crack on it and you have to pay for the water, they don't even tell you up front about the water. the cashier/manager is not friendly at all, keep looking his phone while we raised hand to get help. The hotpot doesn't look like the picture, tiny and more tofu than seafood. Tofu house used to be my favorite but for $17, a overcook and burn dish is definitely as a statement I don't care what customer think attitude. Btw, they don't have a print out receipt but still a hand writing receipt, no idea how calculate the cost and tax. If they miscalculate your bill, (very likely), who knows. Not recommend it. Btw, look at the other reivew two weeks before me, same bad experience.
