One Saturday night, we decided to go out to a restaurant with a couple of our friends. We called a few places to make a reservation, but everywhere was full. Eventually, we picked this spot based on Google reviews and headed over. When we first walked in, it looked really quiet, and we were a bit worried about why it was so empty. Turned out, there was a private event on the terrace, and that’s where all the people were hanging out! Anyway, we ended up having a great time. The appetizer was good, the drinks were nice, and the food was really delicious. The best part was how polite and attentive the servers were—they were super responsible and kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a really nice experience and I’d definitely recommend it! Oh, and one more lovely detail: they actually treated us to a complimentary dessert at the end! They brought out a few desserts that we hadn’t even ordered, and it was on the house. That was such a nice surprise and really made the evening feel extra special.

I was dining alone and rather early - around 5:30. Every staff that passed my table assisted each other to look after me. My waiter led my choices to exactly what I wanted. The view wasn't stellar but I could see a long ways across the marsh, some water, the sunset was quite open view. A train came by in the distance. People walked by on the sidewalk with dogs. The indoors was higher end, linens, glassware, uniform waiters. The choice of appetizer was ample. The waiter suggested the melted goat cheese. It came with toasts and was served inside a ring of hot pesto with toasted garlic. The lamb shank was large, on the bone, the meat easily slipped off the bone with my fork. It was smothered in a roasted carrot / tomato. The mashed potatoes were really good. It was the special of the day and I didn't ask the price - $48! I wouldn't have ordered it... The other items on the menu were more commonly priced. I had a cocktail of gin/champagne/lemon wedge. $12. I only drank half but it was a great change up from a mimosa. The waiter suggested sparkling water and brought a San Peligrino. There was a large table of maybe 8 people near me. They were having a good time but their sounds weren't engulfing the restaurant. Multiple waiters tended to them. Their dishes were ample and looked great as they went by. There were 2 or 3 other tables at the same time as my stay and they all looked like they were enjoying the same experience. There is another restaurant just down the road and as I drove by I could hear the noise of the music and people. It was really busy. Im glad I didn't go there.

We savored every bite, from the rich clam chowder-with whole tender clams to the creamy braised short rib pasta and lobster baked salmon with fingerling potatoes. Every dish was well crafted and cooked to perfection. The service was warm and attentive. We’re so glad we stopped in—we’ll definitely be back.

Clam Chowder was excellent. Unique in that it’s served in the shells. Bread to dip into the bottom of the bowl so as not to leave any traces of liquid. Personable attentiveness from staff. Great location.

Very happy that my husband found this last minute for our anniversary date night. Beautiful aesthetic and absolutely phenomenal food! Got the Tropicale Salad to start. And it was quite a nutritious and hearty salad. Fresh mango and tomatoes and hearts of palm with the rugula and that dressing was unbelievably good! We asked for the dressing on the side and added only a little and it was just perfectly enough. Added some grilled shrimp on top and that flavor was really lovely! Only downside is that there were only four shrimp there and portion size of the hearts of palm and the mango was also quite little. So it was a lot of arugula with very little of the extra toppings. Mussels in Coconut Curry - real good! What a large portion size of the muscles and the sauce was also very smooth and had a nice distinct coconut flavor with a nice herbiness as well. Grilled crusty bread on the side was very soft and perfect on the inside and crusty on the outside. The combination of the muscles with the sauce and the bread was really lovely. Del Mar Crab Ravioli - UNBELIEVABLY GOOD! I have no words to say how good this was! Really large raviolis with a good amount of filling(real proper crab not just some mixture of stuff) + very delicious creamy sauce. Super good! It was only 4 raviolis, but they were large!! That also got us a Figgy Bread Pudding on the house when I happened to mention that it was our anniversary dinner. The bread pudding was SO soft and warm and cozy and just wow! Super yummy and indulgent. Server also recommended a vanilla ice cream on the side and it was just the perfect sidekick. 10/10 recommend this place. Everything was a hit and service was really nice as well!

Located right across from the Los Penasquitos Lagoon this little brunch and lunch spot is on the border of Del Mar and Carmel Valley. I have driven down this street countless times over the years and I’ve seen all the different versions that have been in this place and will say West End is my favorite of those. We usually stop in for breakfast and every time that we do it is consistently good. Inside is also recently remodeled and they did a really great job with the bar area especially. There is a free parking lot attached out back otherwise neighborhood parking is also easy to find. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. We started off with the Shrimp Ceviche, which is pretty good, although it was a little too watery in my opinion. It almost was like a soup with some ceviche in it. For my breakfast, I chose the Crab Cake Benedict and thought it was fantastic. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the crabcake was full of crab flavor and I just loved it. They were also perfectly crispy and I really enjoyed the meal as a whole. They also have other great options on the menu so I would highly suggest to anyone in or near the area to give it a try.

Our server Robin was fantastic, very patient, not pushy and great at steering you in the right direction on menu choices. Bloody Mary was not too spicy and bottomless Mimosas were a nice offering. The food was delicious and the kitchen got the food out right away. This is a great location with views of the wetlands and plenty of free parking behind the restaurant.

This is my third year in a row going to brunch here before heading to the Del Mar horse races. We made this a little bit of a tradition because how much we've enjoy this place. The service and bottomless mimosas really has us returning year after year. My friends and I ordered a variety of dishes and, of course, their bottomless. My boyfriend ordered a few of their bloody marys, which I imagine were pretty good since he ordered more than one! This is an adorable brunch spot that's affordable, that comes with a view overseeing the bay.

We stopped in for happy hour after seeing the restaurant featured on a local TV station. The food was very good and served promptly. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Nathaniel was great, friendly service and helpful suggestions. We shared the duck potstickers, goat cheese with pesto and the burrata, everything was delicious and well prepared. We had wine and the well cocktail from the HH menu. We went back this week with our daughter. We had the burrata, goat cheese appetizer and the flatbread from the HH menu plus a Caesar salad. All delicious and good cocktails from Nathaniel.

The westend kitchen was awesome. Our waiter was very tentative, very patient. He did not mind answering any questions we had he took his time to hear our questions and answered us. Our orders were processed food did not take long to come out the presentation of the food was very nice. The restrooms were large and clean only one stall. I would rate this a restaurant a 5 out of 5

Nice place not far from the beach. We had brunch here on a Saturday morning, it was pretty packed around 11am. The brunch menu is very long, probably you can get whatever you want at this place. I had a Brie salad and my husband ordered tacos. He likes his food. For me, the salad is nice but the dressing is away toooooo sweet. The waitress is very kind to get another unsweetened dressing for me which is perfect. I definitely think the good service makes this place a 5 star.

Loved it!! We went on a Saturday around 5pm and it was awesome, not too crowded. Service is amazing, I don’t remember his name but our server (from Iran) was incredibly attentive and helpful, his suggestions were really delicious. Have in mind after 6pm gets a little bit busy. They have parking in the back of the restaurant. You can make reservations through OpenTable to get points and it’s very recommended on weekends. Their outside patio is really nice also. We tried and liked the Greens Salad with grilled salmon, ribeye and tiramisu. Got gotta give it a try. :)

Small restaurant with a small menu. All four of our entrees were excellent. I especially liked my prime beef and short rib stew - very good and filling as well. Our Caesar Salad was excellent too. They served some excellent bread too. Desserts were also very good. The main dining area is very small. They have a bar and a covered patio as well. The service was excellent. Fairly pricey, but worth it. Parking can be an ordeal if using their lot, but you can park on the street or in the adjacent neighborhood.

The best cioppino I've had in my entire life. Everything in it was cooked to perfection. The fish melted in my mouth, the shrimp and mussels had the perfect bite. The broth had so much depth. The biggest shame is that I am only a small woman and could not physically eat the full portion, though trust me, I tried. I wish I lived here, I would come to this restaurant all the time. When I visit again, I'll return. If the cioppino ever comes off the menu, I will be despondent. Our waiter, Sunny, was also incredibly nice. Everyone come here!

We went there this past Saturday for dinner. The drinks were outstanding, appetizers were to die for, and the dinner was unexpectedly impressive! Thanks for a great night out!

From authentic Boston Clam Chowdah to Tommy's chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, West End met and exceeded my expectations. Portions are generous, as are the cocktails. Our service was exceptional. A 5 minute walk from Torrey Pines beach, this makes a remarkable spot for a romantic date or business lunch. They are currently renovating and updating the patio ( which has a lovely view of the Peñasquitos lagoon) and bar but this doesn't effect the dining experience. I cant wait to come back and see all of the updates completed by March 2019. Thank you, Todd & crew for a wonderful meal. We will see you again soon!

A wonderful surprise ! This small place is open and warm with outside seating. The server, Cristian, was professional, friendly and efficient. The food was just right and the coffee was good. Had a lunch meeting there yesterday and the staff food ambiance view were all 5 stars. I can’t say enough about the food other than the 5 things we ordered were all amazing. Calamari appetizer, two salads, bowl of tomato/pesto soup, and shrimp fettuccine.

Since my first visit was so satisfying, I took a chance to meet with my nephew. We were met with a warm greeting, the menu was appetizing, the food was still amazing, serving size was perfect and we never felt rushed or intruded upon. When more than a year between visits passes, and the ownership, food, service and atmosphere is the same, you actually feel a sense of relief! My nephew raved and will bring his friends. And of course, so will I.

We've been going to this location through multiple incarnations of the restaurant that seems to always be here, West End is the latest. Nice decor, definitely a blend of some old favorites, yes, thank goodness the baked goat cheese with garlic and pesto Still Remains on the menu! We had excellent service and our party of six all greatly enjoyed our dinner. It was night time, so we didn't get to enjoy the lovely View of the estuary and out to Torrey Pines beach that you would have during the daytime, but it's still a cozy place to eat. Glad to see it's still a great place to go.

M

Stumbled in here on a Saturday afternoon after hiking at Torrey pines. Staff were *super* nice. We brought our 4 year old and they gave him a little coloring book. He had pancakes and liked them. We got crab cake Benedict and the blackened fish tacos, which were both very good. I lived in the south for 10 years and usually blackened things are not good outside that area, but these were! Unexpected gem.

This is one of those sleeper restaurants that shouldn’t be missed. They have some of the best clam chowder in San Diego and their buttermilk friend chicken salad is fantastic. I’m not a fan of kale, but West End’s kale salad is on my list of favorites. Just ask for an extra wedge of lemon on the side. The location of this restaurant makes it a local favorite but not very accessible for visitors. It’s worth finding. While it’s on a busy street, it’s near the ocean and has views of the lagoon. With both indoor and outdoor dining, this small restaurant feels quaint and cozy, but offers enough space for those who are Covid cautious. The staff couldn’t be nicer and I always feel welcome whether I’m in shorts or in heels and a dress.

Love this place! The staff is really great and the food has been amazing. Seriously, the best duck I’ve ever had. They say their duck and lamb are the best sellers and I’ve been meaning to try their lamb too but I just can’t pass up the duck. So tender and crispy. I have to avoid gluten and the waiter is fantastic about which meals I can and can’t have. This is the place I take family/friends who are visiting!

It is cool and wet in San Diego. It's also Monday and it seems that many restaurants are closed. We searched Google maps and found the West End Bar. We walk in and we are the only people there. What?, we think. Anyway, we sit down and order drinks and food. Our server is very friendly does a great job. We have a wonderful experience and so will you. Adding to our list of places to go for special occasions. Food was excellent, location is great. On the higher end for cost but not any different than the type and quality of food we ordered. Lamb shank, Atlantic salmon, and the panko-crusted pork loins were dishes we ate. Portions were good sized. Tiramisu was larger portion than expected/experienced at other places. Worth going back, we will definitely be saving space for dessert and coffee next time. (and taking pics)

We’ve dined here for breakfast by chance twice & enjoyed a 5 Star experience both times! The regular coffee is an Italian roast that I particularly love. While my wife thoroughly enjoyed a decaf (weird I know) espresso. I had the salmon in bagels with greens & balsamic that was delightfully complimentary! My wife had the Avo-Toast topped with deliciousness & a side of crispy bacon. Next time you’re driving on Carmel Valley Rd in Del Mar Terrace, look for the blue awning & park! We will be back!!

Excellent experience! Delicious and flavorful compositions, try the lamb or salmon, duck confit was excellent too or any other dish! Great selection of wines!

We went there last year while biking. We stopped for a quick bite and got the most amazing clam chowder we ever had, and we are from the bay area where we have a lot of clam chowder locations. We then went back the following day for dinner, got the clam chowder again, duck leg config and the lamb shank. All were so delicious. This year we wet back, same thing for a clam chowder and burrata. Two days later dinner again same thing. We highly recommend The clam chowder and this restaurant.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner for 1 complete with outstanding service. The quiet atmosphere of a Wednesday night in front of the sea was the perfect conclusion for my birdwatching venture. I had the Salmon Roman style which was both delicious and perfectly portioned as well as a lovely gin and tonic and and IPA. The bartender on duty, and the waiters were very attentive to my table. Amazing experience can't wait to stop by again.

Incredible views, food is phenomenal. Seafood is especially good. Unique dishes. The crab ravioli were the best I've ever had! Service is stellar as well. Can't say enough good things about this place.

We came on a weeknight with a party of seven to celebrate a birthday. They set aside a nice table for us by the window, but out of the way so we had some space from other diners. The service was very attentive and the food was spectacular! We enjoyed a multi-course meal with everything from wine and appetizers to delicious entrees and desserts. A member of our party is gluten—free and she had plenty of choices. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening!

My family and I have been coming to this hidden gem for brunch for some time now and always love coming back. Great atmosphere, food and service. Our server Christian always makes sure we have a fantastic experience. We've been recommending West End to friends who also love this spot now. Highly recommend!

We were in town for our kid's soccer tournament and we had a big party of 11. The food was all delicious, drinks were great and our waiter, Brian, was awesome! The rest of the staff was great as well. Would definitely go back.

We stumbled in here on a Saturday afternoon after hiking at Torrey Pines. The staff was incredibly nice and even gave our 4-year-old a coloring book, which he loved along with his pancakes. We ordered the crab cake Benedict and the blackened fish tacos, both of which were very good. Having lived in the South for 10 years, I usually find blackened dishes lacking elsewhere, but these were excellent. This place is an unexpected gem!

S

Great place. I had the blackened fish tacos which were really good, the crema was very flavorful. my server was able to make a substitution for me and get hash browns instead of the sides it comes with which was nice. the hash browns were decent, not very crispy like the menu said they were. my mom got the ahi tuna salad which was also great. everything was well seasoned. the stand out though was mom’s arnold palmer, we agreed it was the best either of us had ever tasted. waited awhile for the check but our server was very nice and overall attentive. also, we sat on the covered patio to enjoy the amazing view on a sunny afternoon and it was pretty warm and stuffy. wish they had window screens to let the breeze in or ceiling fans for circulation, that’s my only real complaint. overall highly recommend (:

We had an amazing dinner at West End Bar and Kitchen. The service was fantastic! Everyone on the staff was attentive and especially our server, Sonny. Everything from our artichoke appetizer, the veal ravioli, the lamb chop, and the shrimp pasta was absolutely delicious! We are only in town a few days, but are hoping to make it back for another meal.

We were staying nearby in May, visiting from Arizona…and stopped in for happy hour. We had an amazing experience from Nate. Fast-forward to mid July when we came back with friends and stopped in for happy hour. Nate remembered us and we had another amazing experience. It was so good our friends wanted to make dinner reservations before we headed home. Our friends were blown away as were we. Nate is one of a kind. Interesting menu, good food and great bar. The atmosphere was pleasant. Came back the next night for dessert and found it roaring with happy folks. Every seat taken for a special high-end wine night. The owner said he recognized me from the previous night. I said I just stopped in for a glass of Prosecco and dessert. He created a space for me and asked the chef to make me a special dessert. Old school class.

Both the Turkey Club and the Salmon Burger were amazing. The fries however were overcooked. Great portion size and great cut for the fries, just sat a bit too long in oil. The atmosphere and service is great. Prices are adequate for the area.

Really great spot. Menu was good though the pancakes that the adults wanted was on the children’s menu (but they accommodated), and the folks that got the eggs Benedict didn’t like the hollandaise. I tried it too - way too lemony. Not traditional at all. Hashbrowns tasted of smoke from the grill. So while the pancakes and French toast were good, the eggs Benedict wasn’t so much. Service was really great. Location can’t be beat.

Overall we had a nice dinner. Server forgot our salad we ordered but that happens sometimes. Braised oxtail ravioli was amazing!! Definitely kid friendly and service was good too even though they were busy (Sat night) and our server left during our meal with a bad back. Pro tip...check your bill if you are a group larger than 6. We were told no tip was added and the server added a hand written tip (but we had been charged 20% then another $50 on top of that). We got it all squared away (15 min later) but double check before signing!

I'll start with the location. It feels out of the way in a good way and has good decor. I'm comfortable there with relaxed, friendly wait staff and an incredible feel on the porch. I never sit inside, so I don't have an idea of the main dining room. The food is solidly good with no disappointments. I do not have any favorites and can order broadly across the menu because there are many, many appalling offerings.

What a lovely spot! Gorgeous views from the patio, nice ambiance, and good service. The food leaves something to be desired though. We had the veggie frittata and wet breakfast burrito and neither were anything special. The hashbrowns were also flavorless…

Came in at 7pm on a Wednesday night for dinner. We had reservations and were seated right away. The food was delicious. We ordered the veal ossobuco ravioli, duck confit, pesto and sausage flatbread, chocolate pudding, and figgy pudding. However, I am giving 4/5 stars because service was painstakingly slow and inefficient. It seemed like the owner(?) was the only one taking orders and checks, which caused a bottleneck in the service. This wouldn't have been a problem except he was chatting up select tables, giving them free dessert, making long conversations about their life story and neglecting our table.

View is gorgeous, service is poor, and the food is very average. Won't be visiting again. I just don't know how you serve cold coffee? Then when they took my card to pay the bill, the hostess asked for my PIN? Topped it off by asking if I wanted a receipt. Who does that?

I’ll give the benefit of a second try and visit again but disappointed this time. Maybe didn’t help that I stopped in for drinks after dinner elsewhere. But the kitchen was closing within a half hour. The fact that I was in for drinks and a pause to review the day seemed perfect. That said, it shouldn’t matter why a guest is visiting. When you go to the trouble to spell out very specific top shelf ingredients for a rye cocktail and substitute a lesser ingredient with no mention until it’s called to the servers attention it calls the entire the drink into question 🤔 Serving it under chilled,l doesn’t help. And charging full top shelf price as if all ingredients are there- not OK, as well. A need to substitute an ingredient can happen. I get it. But say something ... and do something tangible to show you notice and care that you’re delivering less than promised and regret doing so. Are expectations too high? I think not 🤔

The service and ambiance was outstanding. Genuinely friendly service, comfortable yet classy environment, and a great view. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the food. The calamari appetizer was good. I got the pork loin and my husband got the meatloaf - neither was good. The pork was very thick, tough, and tasteless. My husband thought the meatloaf was ok. I was hoping to like this place more but probably won't be back.

Folks, very nice atmosphere and Mike at the bar was great. And if you are loving some New England Clam chowder, this is an AWESOME place. I had a cup but could guzzle a gallon, and the three freshly opened clams were an incredible touch! No bread comes with it though, and a toasted baguette would have been perfect! Now for the not so great... The lamb shank sounds great, and was offered as the dish to go with by the bartender and the patron sitting next to me. It was not good. Overcooked, and the tastes didn't go together at all for me. The risotto, although really tasty, just felt like gooey rice because it wasn't hot. The guy who suggested it to me, raving about it, was celebrating his birthday today so I didn't have an opportunity to speak to the bartender about it fully. He knew something was wrong though when I only tasted it and didn't want a to go container. Shame. But I will be back if only for the clam chowder... that was absolutely delicious! BTW.. this is a pricey place.. significantly higher than the two dollar signs depicting price!! Tom

Got food poisoning about 6 hours after eating here. The food was really good with great presentation, but not so great tasting and even worse presentation when it came back up. I wanted to make it our new regular spot, but apparently they have some food handling issues. I’m guessing it was their salad. Also oddly their drinking water has an odd cleanser taste, almost like STAR SANS. Still giving 3 stars because I really did enjoy the food, although I won’t be returning.

Beautiful restaurant, great view, food ok, service still to improve! We decide to have a family breakfast in this place since we past so many times in our way to the beach. We arrive to and the host immediately told my wife the tables in the patio area are by reservation only and for that morning was imposible to get one, so we still took a table in the inside area, the restaurant is really beautiful and the play list awesome!! Stand up ovation!! Our server arrive with such a hurry, she didn't even get what I wanted to drink, she didn't look me at all, she keep staring other places but us. The food came and it was pretty descent! We decided to spend a good morning so we didn't get upset. The staff still much to learn!

We ordered duck, duck potstickers and clam chowder. Everything except the duck was bland and the duck sauce tasted super sweet.

Great location very comfortable restaurant party of 7 , very large menu selection but food was just barely okay had grilled turkey club sent it back had one slice of turkey and it was toasted. Fries average not great and ahi tuna appetizer was very dry not good no flavor. Just okay would not go out of my way to go back. Omelettes okay , eggs Benedict’s and breakfast sandwich good. Salads and presentation could be way better. Timing of food was poor , appetizers come before entrees. The waiters were very attentive and nice but cook makes them look bad.

Mediocre af. The blueberry pancakes were good, but that’s the best I can say about this place. It took forever to be acknowledged by a server - over 20 min, in fact. The breakfast burrito was actually terrible. I make a better breakfast burrito at home, and I am not a skilled chef by any means. The hash browns were fine. The most egregious part of the experience was the “fresh squeezed orange juice.” Arrived with no pulp and was so obviously out of a bottle it was a joke. When I told the server, he tripped up and then doubled down that they “out source” the orange juice. Yeah, from Tropicana. Wish I would’ve gotten breakfast burritos from the hole in the wall nearby. Would’ve been cheaper and most definitely better. Verdict: avoid if you like food and people not insulting your intelligence.

Not great. The waiters are polite, but the service was very slow and my friend explained that he has a severe allergy to garlic/onions, which the waiter seemed to take seriously, but then the food came out with some amount of garlic/onion powder in it and he was immediately very sick after eating. I get that it's a hard ingredient mix to avoid, but I thought considering the high cost of the food it would be more thoughtfully prepared. Other than that, the quality was just meh (but I'm vegetarian so I could only order the kale ravioli). I'd recommend going further into Del Mar for better service and menu options.

After seeing this place have high reviews my colleagues and I decided to try it. Unfortunately it’s not what we expected. The menu is quite complicated and seems to be a flashback to the 80s. I ordered an entree and a side salad. The salad arrived first which included a plate of mixed greens that most likely came straight from a prepared bag mix. The lettuce was completely drenched in a balsamic dressing this removing a nutritional value that may have previously existed. I’m not even sure I can call what I received a salad. There were no additional vegetables in the “salad”. No cucumber, no carrots, no red onion, no tomatoes...nothing but mixed greens. My entree came next and it was a seafood crepe containing crab and shrimp meat. I’m almost certain that the crab was not fresh and the meal lacked seasoning. I only ate half of the dish. Unfortunately I can not recommend this place just ok the simple fact that there are so many other choices in the area that would be better options. On a side note, my coworker inquired about the salmon to see if it was wild caught and was unfortunately told that it was farm raised.

Tonight I dined at this place, West End bar& kitchen and had a truly disappointing experience. Despite the restaurant not being busy, and there were many tables available , the service was rushed and inattentive. We were enjoying our conversation and most of the food still was on the table, when a server unceremoniously brought us the check along with a box for our leftovers. It felt incredibly rude and like we were being pushed out the door. The food was decent, but the premature delivery of the check and the box left a sour taste in our mouths. We were looking forward to enjoying a leisurely meal, but instead, we felt pressured to leave. Such disregard for customers’ dining experience is unacceptable. I won't be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone seeking a relaxing and enjoyable meal.

I made a reservation for 7 people. I received a text confirmation that showed the date/time was confirmed. I showed up and the staff told me they tried to call me the day prior to tell me they'd be closed. They also said they tried to text me. I asked the person if the voicemail said my name. He said yes...well my voicemail doesn't give my name and I had zero calls or texts besides the one confirming my reservation. Once they showed me the number they called, it was incorrect. I get it, they were closing, however they shouldn't accept reservations during the hour they close and they could have been a little more apologetic. They didn't even apologize, just kept telling me they tried to call me and they were closing. I had to scramble and call 7 people and try and find somewhere else to go. It was a bit of a stressful situation.

Food wasn’t very impressive, somehow the food made the view worse. The service was also very slow and didn’t have military discount 🥀

I really liked the food and I have been there a few times, but the truth is that the service is very bad. The waitress is very rude and the times I have been there she is always sleepy and I think her name is Carla and I asked an employee that I wanted to speak to the manager and to top it off she was the manager, that is the last straw!!

M
Melissa Bolshinskaya

This was a very puzzling and disheartening dining experience. We ordered three standard menu items (no changes or substitutions), and all of them came out with ingredients not matching what was listed on the menu. Both servers we spoke to about it seemed to not think it was a problem, but agreed to "accommodate" our request for the correct items. We waited and waited. Because we were still hungry and tired of sitting there, we wearily asked if we could just pay for our stuff and leave. They were more than happy to charge us in full for our food items without so much as an apology for the poor experience. It's worth mentioning that one of the items we ordered was a basic margarita. It did not taste like a margarita. When we asked about it, our server said he'd made it with seltzer and lemon juice. He was certain this was the correct way to do it, and said that if we wanted something different we should have specified the margarita ingredients we wanted. There's a lot to unpack here, but I don't think it's appropriate to charge $13-14 for a drink not made by a bartender. In conclusion, if you want to eat okay food while getting gaslighted, you're probably just better off calling up your ex than eating here. It would certainly be less expensive.

Deeply Disappointed 12 13 days ago.. I’ve lived in Del Mar most of my life, and I can’t remember the last time I left a restaurant feeling so put-off( 2 weeks ago)From the moment we arrived, I could smell cigarette smoke — in the parking lot, in the restroom, and even right there at our table. At first I thought perhaps I was imagining it, but as we were leaving, I realized it wasn’t a guest at all — it was one of your own staff members stepping in and out of the kitchen to smoke. I happen to be extremely sensitive to cigarette smoke, and it was unbearable. It clings to everything. Who wants to smell cat urine, much less cigarette smoke, while dining in Del Mar? To make matters worse, during lunch I tried ordering a cocktail to settle my stomach, and the waitress made the whole thing feel like a math problem — both ladies, in fact, seemed completely unprepared. It was awkward and unnecessary. We had such high hopes for this place. Everyone’s been talking about the great food, the dinner service, and the cocktails. We were planning to bring friends in town for the races — many of them longtime locals as well — but after this experience, I simply can’t. It’s a shame, truly. In this economy, with so many good people working hard to uphold Del Mar’s charm and reputation, it’s disheartening to see a local establishment display such disregard for its guests. If this is the same staff running every shift, management might want to take a closer look. Del Mar deserves better. Sincerely, A disappointed lifelong Del Mar resident
