Oh my God the food is good 😭. I loved the Tex-Mex Omelette. Their Hash Brown are also delicious. Crispy af. I don't like sausages that much but their apple chicken sausage are delicious! We got them as sides and had to order some more 😁 We also tried their Crab Cakes Benedict and Lox Benedict. Both are delicious and come with hash browns. Get the English muffin instead of a toast. They're worth it.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pancake Boy, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and friendly staff immediately made me feel welcome. However, it was the lemon ricotta pancakes and homemade pork sausage that truly stole the show. Let's start with the lemon ricotta pancakes. As soon as the plate was placed in front of me, I was captivated by their fluffy and golden appearance. The aroma of fresh lemon zest wafted through the air, instantly making my mouth water. With the first bite, I was transported to pancake heaven. The pancakes were incredibly light and airy, with just the right amount of tanginess from the ricotta and zing from the lemon. The combination was simply divine. Each bite was a burst of citrusy goodness, perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the maple syrup drizzled on top. It was a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. Now, let's talk about the homemade pork sausage. I am a self-proclaimed sausage enthusiast, and Pancake Boy's version did not disappoint. The sausage was juicy, flavorful, and had a perfect balance of spices. It was evident that the sausage was made in-house, as the quality and taste were far superior to any store-bought variety. The meat was tender and succulent, with a hint of smokiness that added an extra layer of depth to each bite. Paired with the pancakes, it created a harmonious combination that left me in breakfast bliss. Aside from the exceptional food, the service at Pancake Boy was top-notch. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their menu. They were more than happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. In conclusion, Pancake Boy is a hidden gem that should not be missed. Their lemon ricotta pancakes and homemade pork sausage are a match made in breakfast heaven. Whether you're a pancake lover or a sausage aficionado, this restaurant will undoubtedly satisfy your cravings. I cannot wait to return and explore more of their menu offerings.
Came here for a quick brunch before our flight home. Small restaurant, but options for outdoor seating was available. They were very generous with refilling our coffee and the food was delicious. Their home fries are amazing! Really great crunchy texture and nice flavor. I ordered the fried chicken and French toast. Personally, the fried chicken was alright, it wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t the worst. I think it was just missing some extra flavor. But the French toast was delightful, the challah they use is really soft.
Second time coming. Just as good as the first time. Order the PB's plate with lemon ricotta pancakes, pork patty and scrambled eggs. Can't ever have enough of those ricotta pancakes. So delicious. Port patty is decent. Scrambled eggs are a really surprise to me. Even though they looks firm, they are actually very soft but still preserved some texture. A perfect meal for a lazy Saturday morning. Note: Generally have a short line. Unless come right after opening
The pancakes are well done, fluffy, colorful, with fruits and some made with buttermilk and served with real maple syrup. I think they should serve the maple syrup warm to add to the flavor of the pancakes. Their green chilequiles are excellent with the carnitas.
You need to order their lemon ricotta pancakes! They're tasty, light, and fluffy. I also tried the seaboard Benedict, which was delicious. I like how they make their hashbrowns. Then, I tried the Tex Mex scramble and I would order that again. Great breakfast. Small place inside and only two outdoor table sitting.
PB is a go- to breakfast spot. As others have written, the food is great. Portion Suze is very goid. Prices are typical. Inside cam be noisy but outside seating is great and since they built a hutch (covid style), it's a bit warmer than if we sat out on the street. The only issue, and frankly, not that important is that the staff is courteous, but not really friendly, if you get my drift. Almost robotic. Not a reason to not eat here though.
I honestly didn’t expect fried chicken and french toast to become one of my ultimate comfort food combos, but wow, it really hit the spot. The balance of sweet and salty flavors was perfect, and every bite just felt so satisfying. It’s one of those meals that makes you stop for a second and go, “yeah, this is it.” The whole vibe of the place added to it too. Even though the restaurant was full, it didn’t feel chaotic at all. The servers were friendly, the place was super clean, and the area itself was really nice. It just had that warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. I’m definitely going back because honestly, it was that good.
Wow we just randomly picked this place and it was the best breakfast we had on our trip. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes - amazing Shrimp and grits - the best! Banana pancakes also looked super!
10 stars! 50! All of the stars! The food is incredible. So so so good, and fresh and fast! We had the ricotta pancakes and the gluten free pancakes - geeeeez they were AMAZING!!!!! The folks in the kitchen and the two people waiting tables are working incredibly hard and treat everyone with the utmost respect and professionalism. While we were there, they had to deal with some rather special customers and they kept their absolute cool and treated them with kindness despite the entitlement they were being dealt. The bathroom is clean. The vibe of the place has aspects of a New York diner, if you I know what I mean :) so charming. We loved it! We’ll come again!!!
As a local, I’ve heard great things about The Pancake Boy, and I finally made a trip there this morning. The area is near the Castro and exudes a cozy, classic SF residential vibe, free from visitor hassles, which I really like. The crew was friendly and attentive. We ordered by choosing dishes that other customers were having when we arrived. Everything looked so delicious, so we just pointed to various tables, and the results were fantastic. The ube pancake was well-balanced with sweet and fruity notes, while another dish featured a flavorful, spicy, and creamy combination of egg and other ingredients. Classic and chic altogether. We will visit here again very soon.
Their pancakes were fire! And hence the name! I had their banana mascarpone pancakes and honestly they were one of the best pancakes I’ve had in a while. They have a really nice selection of pancakes. Their eggs Benedict were very tasty as well. With a large selection of caffeinated drinks, it’s a great breakfast place! Their presentation is very nice too!
Cute little place with a great breakfast! Tried the mocha, French toast and coconut rice pancakes with bananas. All very tasty!
We checked this place out on a Sunday morning, and luckily, the line was short. Waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. We got the Ube pancake, chicken omelet sandwich, and fried chicken toasts—everything was fire! Plates were completely cleared. We were craving dim sum but so glad we ended up here instead!
WOW! This place is the place to go for breakfast. They close at 2pm. It was packed but we got a seat quickly. The waitresses hustle so even at capacity you're not waiting long for your drinks and food. I was blown away by the Ube and banana souffle pancakes. The red velvet latte was amazing but the pistachio latte was even better. My dad enjoyed his fried chicken and waffles. It was so fun to sit in the box outside and watch the city. I think the mouth watering photos say more than the review can.
Great. Lovely breakfast with delicious flavor. Got the Ube pancakes, huevos rancheros, king salmon tartine. Great! Ube pancakes too sweet for my liking but good texture.
The most delicious breakfast spot in Noe Valley! Could not decide and will definitely be going back to try more of this menu! My daughter got the French toast made with brioche and the fried chicken with maple syrup and bacon bits so delicious! I got the crab roll And her father got eggs amy style with bacon and home potatoes. Everything was so delicious! Next time I will definitely be trying the banana soufflé pancakes!
Good breakfast spot. First time here. Food was very good and filling. I had shrimp and andouille sausage grits w/2 over medium eggs. Sis had the same. Nephew had the breakfast sandwich with a pork sausage patty & roasted potatoes. He said it was excellent. We all shared the banana mascarpone w/vanilla curd, candied walnuts, banana, and sweet cream. Note, this pancake is a souffle style. It was 👍👍 delicious! Will go back for sure to try the French toast and chicken & waffle. This is a small place and usually a wait (line outside). Definitely try this place!
Parking was free on the Sunday that we went. There was no wait and indoor dining was available. It’s about $30 per person (including tip), so the food is on the expensive side. I liked the Aha Combo. The soufflés are incredible and I loved their bacon and tater tots!

I've gone to Pancake Boy with a lot of folks, and everyone always leaves very happy! The egg sandwich is an delicious if messy breakfast. I'm don't get omelettes when I go out to eat, but friends have loved theirs. The benedicts could use more hollandaise sauce, but the rest of the ingredients are generous and good quality. Anything that has shrimp is recommended, as they're perfectly cooked, tender with zero rubberiness. The chicken and french toast is absurdly indulgent, and one of this place's best dishes - even if I can't justify the health consequences of getting it very often. The burger is huge, and surprisingly satisfying for a place that's more about their breakfasts. The drip coffee is great, and refilled constantly. And it's so nice that they have small bottles of bubbly.
Had the chicken sausage omelette with side of potatoes, WoW! The food was amazing, could eat it everyday. Also tried the red velvet pancakes, which are incredible.

Second time here. Not a bad brunch option if you don’t want to wait 30+ minutes for a table at Novy or Digbys. Decided to try their Papa’s burger this time around. The flavor was there, but it was extremely oily. If you’ve ever had a super duper burger.. oilier than that. Also wasn’t a fan of the fries because they were coated. I’ll stick to the brunch food like the corn beef hash, which I enjoyed last time.
As others have said, it's a solid brunch spot in Noe Valley. You can't reserve a table, so you have to get there pretty early to stand in line. Not sure if it's Asian-owned or just staffed, but the menu is pretty eclectic. The ambiance was interesting as it felt like a standard diner inside. I suggest eating outdoors if the weather is nice. We ordered the ube lattes (can't make these bad) and an order of ube pancakes (delicious and sinful). For breakfast, we ordered an SF omelet (huge and filling) and an avocado toast (delicious with pickled onions). We went home feeling satisfied! But if you don't like waiting in line, there are other spots that have similar offerings where you can reserve tables.
Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: A very good brunch option Would I come back: Yes! It’s one of my go tos. The extended review… Food: PBs Fried Chicken French Toast - 4/5 - Holy Cow. The fact that there is a knife through the middle says enough about the portion of the dish. Loved the portion size and the flavor of everything. Service: 4/5 - Friendly and attentive staff. Ambiance: 4/5 - It’s a little cramped inside which is why there usually is a line.
My pancakes were really dry(still had good flavor, but couldn’t eat past 3 bites) & the Arnold Palmer tasted like thick, syrup. We experienced great customer service! I kindly requested a few things (crispy edge pancakes that I see in most of their pictures) & 1 of the servers handled my request with kindness and patience. I didn’t get the pancakes I saw in pictures, but 🤷🏾♀️. Wish i would’ve gotten his name. He is really nice.
The Pancake Boy restaurant serves some of the fluffiest, most delicious pancakes I’ve ever had. We ordered the lemon ricotta soufflé pancake and the chilaquiles verdes, and both were fantastic. The pancake was light and airy, with just a touch of ricotta filling for subtle richness. The portion was generous, perfect for sharing or a hearty meal. The chilaquiles verdes were equally satisfying—crispy tortilla chips in a flavorful green sauce, topped with cheese and a perfectly cooked egg. With the rain outside, we chose indoor seating, which was cozy and comfortable. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, The Pancake Boy is a must-try!
I enjoyed it. Cute little place, staff was nice and we were seated quickly (Monday around 11:30am). We ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Banana Mascarpone pancakes and the fried chicken and French toast. The pancakes were really good . The banana mascarpone were my favorite. Cooked very well, flavorful without syrup and a good amount of pancakes. The way it comes out is very cute too. Ok, but the chicken was fried way too hard for the type of batter they use. The actual meat was good and wasn't dry, but the breading was not even almost enjoyable. The French toast was really good. To drink we ordered a Dirty Chai Latte and. Chai Latte and both were perfect. Ultimately, I'll be coming back. Just won't be ordering the fried chicken.
We didn't have the pancakes, but the brunch dishes were very very good. The crab was plenty in the omlette. Deducting a star was the salads and sides are just meh. Service was great!

Everything tasted rather bland and didn’t stand out for me - neither exceptional nor poor. The pancakes were dry and eggs and bacon were way too salty. Service was great.
Nice place. Seats both inside and outside (Under a patio or in front of the store) SUPER cold inside: they leave the door open to facilitate the service but it means that all customers have to keep their coats on (which is not really an issue tbh). Pretty disappointed by the menu: few pancake options, and all of them are oddly specific. Maybe you can ask for plain pancakes with your topping of choice, but it’s not on the menu. Waiters were nice, but not super warm, but there was a lot of people to serve so maybe that’s why. My girl took her ricotta pancakes and was super happy about it, they were fluffy. I took the soulfood option: fried chicken with French toast and was super disappointed; the fried chicken was not that good, weird taste, and the Maple syrup was super liquid and not sweet enough to contrast with the fried chicken.
A simple, small cafe located in the busy retail area of popular Noe Valley on 24th Street. The three of us ate brunch there the day after Christmas around 10:30. We waited 10 minutes for a table, but the table looked directly into the open doorway of the kitchen and the back of the grill cook. To the credit of the two stressed yet accommodating servers, when we saw a better table open up, they relocated us at our request. Portions are generous, so we ordered two entrees for our party. The Pancake Boy Plate ($25) with Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, 2 sunny-side up eggs and pork patty and Pb’s Burger ($20) with French Fries. We noticed tables were served their food one entree at a time rather than all entrees being served together to the entire dining party resulting in diners eating in shifts. Thankfully that didn’t happen to us. The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were five-star. The best in SF. The Burger was big but in this case bigger doesn’t make it better. It was ordinary. The French Fries looked promising. They were crispy but were not seasoned. There was no taste. We’ll definitely be back for the pancakes and the cafe offers many varieties.
On the one hand the crab scramble (more like an omelette) and the coffee were delicious. Apparently the TexMex scramble was really good too. On the other hand the service is not nice even if smily. They won’t accommodate simple substitutions (such as a bit of salad- which they have- instead of a slice of bread). Be aware that their “chilaquiles” are more like tossed nachos. Also ambient modern jazz is unbearable. So, yes… mixed feelings.

Nice setting and servers. Not much of a wait at 9:30 on a Sunday. Cool outside but they put on a heater. Food was mediocre. Home fries were the best item; crispy on the outside, creamy within. The Mexican scramble was surprisingly bland. Pancakes were nothing special, kind of dry. They charged an automatic 20% tip on a table of 6, which is fine, but then they presented a credit card receipt with a prominent box inviting us to tip 20-30% more. No one cautioned that we had already tipped so if we hadn't paid attention, it would have been easy to tip more than 50%. Thoroughly dishonest.
The service was great; everyone was very friendly. However, the food was subpar. The sausage patty had an overpowering cumin flavor and was oddly sweet. The pancakes were overcooked and dry, like bread. The presentation was nice, and the staff was friendly, but I wouldn’t come back.

They add their own 20% gratuity to check and then they ask for an additional tip on top of that. (There is nothing saying they add their own gratuity). Wait staff was horrible. Restaurant was not busy at all. There was on other table and and the waitresses just talked the whole entire time. Horrible service! Never going again!
