Opinions de Cholita Linda San Francisco
Puerto Rican food is SO flavorful. Delicious tacos, cubano or asado sandwiches, salads and more. They had me at the fried plantains! So crispy with caramelized burnt bits. Yummy and affordable too. I brought my fav group of people here so we could dine casually and enjoy the good food without paying too much. Love this place!
We came by after the Warriors Parade and were worried we wouldn't find a place to fit our party. Luckily, Cholita Linda knows how to handle huge crowds. Seating is self-service, and you wait in line to order your food. The food came out hot, and the rice plates were a definite hit. The margaritas are tasty, and the location is right in the back with a view of the water and ferry terminal. It was the right spot for quick, delicious food with a great view!
I absolutely love this restaurant! I have been going to their Oakland location for years, and needed a private space for a work event. When I tell you their team is incredible! They worked with me and my organization even though I had a tight turn around as far as time frame goes. The manager and lead chef at this location were so hands on for our event and extremely helpful! Look at this beautiful view btw!
I cannot attest if this is authentic or not but that sandwich flavor was so delicious. Can't go wrong with the little ham and pulled pork on a flattened bread. I was a bit nervous to have to eat so soon after coming off of the ferry, but this place did not disappoint and you got to sit outside in the beautiful weather.
If you have to get one thing, don’t skip the fish tacos! 🌮 They are delicious. The chicken carnitas tacos are amazing too. All of their tortas are super filling, rich, and tasty. I would skip the yucca fries, but the chips and guacamole were great as a side. I’ve been to the original location and the Ferry Building one is just as good. I really hope this place thrives because the food and service is amazing.
Great restaurant, if you want to eat by the water in the ferry building. They have Taqueria style food. They do not serve alcohol though. Street Tacos were fresh, be it chicken or fish. I always get Fish. I have visited this place multiple times and tacos have never disappointed me. The only complain I have is they don’t have variety of sauces.
June 2022: I've tried the Oakland location and was very excited that they opened a new location in the ferry building. Had a baja fish 🐟 taco and a carne asada taco 🌮. Both were really good. I think the fish taco is their speciality. I normally don't get carne asada because I like carnitas and al pastor better but today I was craving beef 🐄! I thought the steak 🥩 could have been grilled more. But that's just some minor feedback. Chips and guacamole were good. Got nice chunks of avocado. Chips tasted freshly made. Happy to see them open up a new location! Glad it's in SF so I don't have to trek over to Oakland for some delicious tacos!
Generous portions, fast service, and great location. I had the salad, one carne asada taco, and a mango agua fresca. The salad was only $9.95 and was massive. It was definitely enough for at least two people to share. I ate as much as I could, but I still left some. The taco, $4.65, was more expensive than the average taco, but made up for it with the pile of filling. My favorite thing had to be the mango agua fresca ($4.50) though. It was just really good and didn't have too much ice. My order was ready in only five minutes and totalled $20.75 before tip. Utensils and napkins are self-service. There's seating inside and outside and a great view of the Bay Bridge no matter where you're sitting. There aren't restrooms in the restaurant, but you can use one of the ferry building's public restrooms.
My boyfriend and I decided to stop by for lunch while we were exploring the ferry building market on saturday. Everything we ordered was very fresh and tasted amazing. My bf said that the chicken tacos were the best tacos he’s ever had in his life! My lechon sandwich was perfect as well. It was a big sandwich with a lot of flavor!
Update Review: tried the chicken taco and it’s also good. This time I took pictures. It’s very busy during the weekends around 1-2pm, there might not be any available seats so you might have to wait for seatings. Original Review: Shame I didn’t take pictures of the taco.. but I love the carne asada… it’s so tasty, juicy and delicious.. one is not enough. We are definitely going to come back. 👍 Also, this is just infront of the Larkspur Ferry, Gate C. So if you departed from Larkspur Ferry Terminal (parking is free there after 1 pm and before that is $2 for whole day), it’s a good spot to grab a bite before going back to Larkspur.
One of the best fish tacos I’ve had. Really loved the crème sauce!! Friendly staff.
as a cuban, i approve of the cuban sandwich. Perfect amount of mustard and pickles, and the bread wasn’t too narrow so they could actually fit on a lot of pork and ham, a tell of a good cuban.
Excellent value for San Francisco. They use huge variety of delicious spices in their cooking, so everything is yummy. Try the grilled plantains for dessert. Very fast service.
We are so glad we chose this place to have lunch. I ordered the Lechon, and I loved the flavors! The combination of everything in the sandwich was so good, especially the sweet potato fries. The bread was really good, it was a nice and crunchy French roll that added to the sandwich, so good! My husband ordered two of the Baja fish tacos, and he usually isn’t a fan of fish tacos but he loved them. He said he could tell the fish was fresh, the tortillas were good, and what really made the tacos were the delicious toppings. We ordered chips and guacamole, and the guacamole was pretty good. The churros were delicious, they had just the right crunch and were warm. Lastly, I got the strawberry agua fresca, and it was thicker than I’m used to, but I still enjoyed it and would order it again. We got to sit outside and had great people watching views. Overall, loved having lunch here and plan to visit again.
Always delicious! Their fish and carnitas tacos are so tasty! We'll see you soon. Likely will visit your SF Ferry Building location next time.
We ate here a few times before. The food is pretty good. We had the fried fish plates $15.65, some tacos $5 each, steak sandwich $15 and pulled pork shoulder $14.50. Service is as expected for an order at the counter type of restaurant and you get a buzzer. I'm not sure why I tipped for restaurants like these. It is a good restaurant to sit outside and watch people walk by on a nice day.
My wife & I were in vacation in San Francisco and we decided to eat at this restaurant. We are so glad we did 🙏💪🏽 The food was incredible and super tasty😋 If you are close to the Ferry Bldg. Market stop by because you will no regret it 👀
Absolutely delicious!!! Definitely recommend going here when the hunger strikes and you're around the ferry building environ. We went for lunch, right around 1pm when the queue was very reasonable (although it moves quickly anyway), and got the papito and lechon sandwiches along with one taco each. The tacos were good, very enjoyable, nothing to really write home about but the sandwiches were placed on this earth by some divine being for the sole purpose of gracing our taste buds; crispy yet soft bread, perfectly cooked and juicy meat, and delicious complimentary flavours. You're not getting the most fancy of experiences, but what you're getting is absolutely mouth-watering food. 100% would recommend to anyone who is a fan of this type of cuisine.
Lively casual Cuban/ Latin restaurant in most beautiful iconic ferry building. Ferry building is center of attraction for tourists as well as locals who live to dine in one of the local places. Wide open seating across the Pacific ocean, great food choices from tacos, sandwiches and full plates of rice, beans and chicken or pork, this is one of the best places to try a meal. Very casual, you order and receive a table service. Basic option for drinks including red and white wines and beer would round up your meal in summer as well as winter. Please do not forget to tip your servers....thanks you.
Loved the lechon sandwich. The bread light but flavorful, the sauce is rich and the sweet potato is great at lightening up the sandwich. Fish taco was really nice. Churros are solid here and worth getting.
El Pollo de Cholita plate was delicious. One entree and three sides made it worthwhile. The only thing missing was a plate of tortillas. The Mango drink was very special. It had a Tamarind flavor which made it unique.

A wonderful little place. Their fish tacos are out of this world and they have salads and other delish dishes. The staff is friendly and patient with the customers who are not quite sure what they want. And it's inside the Ferry Building so you can watch the Ferries depart as you're enjoying your food. I highly recommend it.
Ferry Building hums, San Francisco Ferry Building breathes brine and footsteps. Pilgrims of the screen thumb-scroll sacred menus slow gatekeepers of air. Line bends like a spine, held hostage by hesitation, then they drift away. Courtesy thinned out, like fog burned off too early. Salt sticks to the mood. Crowds bloom, shoulder-bright, voices stacking upon voices, a human tide pool. Then a narrow glow, tortillas warming the dusk, cilantro lifting. An oasis hums, simple as lime on steel heat, order, flame, done right. Vegan, clear as bells, no riddles hidden in grease, made when spoken for. Hands cradle soft corn, fresh steam against restless palms. The world grows smaller.
Fantastic spot at the Ferry Building! Everything was on point. The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, and the location right by the water couldn’t be better. Prices were also very reasonable for the quality and setting. It’s the perfect place to enjoy great food with a beautiful Bay view. One small note: I noticed plastic straws are still being used, which feels a bit surprising given how close the restaurant is to the water. Maybe they’re biodegradable? It would be great to see an eco-friendly option in the future

Looking to eat some good tacos? This is definitely the place. I ordered the Baja fish, carne asada, and pollo taco. I enjoyed each of them very much. The hot sauce adds the right amount of heat to them without masking the flavors in the tacos. The service was good, and the price was spot on.
A First-Time Asado Sandwich Experience It was lunchtime and I wanted to try something new and different for lunch. So, I took a short walk from my office to the Ferry Building and decided to try Cholita Linda for the first time. I wasn't very hungry and needed to get back to the office, so I ordered an Asado sandwich to go. The Asado sandwich is a Peruvian-style roast beef with onions, arugula, and Jack cheese on French bread. I must warn you that it is a wet and juicy sandwich, so be careful not to drip stuff on your keyboard! Fortunately, I did not, but who pays attention to keyboards while biting into a delicious juicy sandwich?! I was so focused on the sandwich that I forgot to snap a photo of it for this review! Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, Cholita Linda is located on the back side of the Ferry Building and has plenty of tables inside and outside. The person who took my order was very quick and helpful. She answered a question or two I had while taking my order. As I was waiting near the pickup counter, I was looking at the trays of food that others were picking up. The fries looked so good that I almost added an order, but I thought better of it and, for the sake of my waistline, postponed it until next time! The Asado was delicious and filling. I will definitely go back to try other items, especially the fries!
This was my first time visiting this location. At the counter they told us they ran out of chicken. Half of my family’s orders were chicken plates so we had to step out of line to pick something else which was a little inconvenient. The rest of the food was delicious! I love their guac.
This place gives Cuban vibes. But its great. I'm only giving it 4 starts because when I tried ordering few items for my son they said they couldn't prep some foods on menu due to their kitchen not fully functioning. So only certain foods were available at the time. So I ended up ordering rice and beans, plantains and chiken Taco with a mango fresh water. Which everything was delicious. The environment was chill, and staff was friendly. You also get a nice view of bay / ferry. Which me and my family enjoyed.
Lovely spot for a quick and tasty bit, with shockingly ample seating and affordable pricing for an outpost in a touristy destination like the Ferry Building. We ducked into Cholita Linda on a Saturday afternoon, slightly desperate for some sort of nourishment and unwilling to wait in the long Farmer's Market lines (yet :)...we absolutely went out to the Market after a couple of tacos). The line was long and space very crowded, but we moved through the line quite quickly and got our food about ~10 min after sitting down -- not bad at all and 110% worth the wait. We shared three fish tacos, which were absolutely delightful -- the fish was super tender and flaky, contrasting beautifully against the crispy, perfectly fried outer shell. It was a surprisingly veggie-forward fish taco, with a generous helping of cabbage and herbs on top of the fish. Everything was wrapped in a double corn tortilla and topped with the most delightfully flavorful crema (and extra flavorful if you added a bit of their hot sauce as well). I did feel the double tortilla threw off the ratio and muddled down the other flavors a tiny bit, but I totally understand why they chose to double wrap it -- the taco was quite hefty and stuffed with plenty of filling, so one tortilla was almost definitely not enough to keep it together.
Great casual spot for Mexican Food. This place is better for lunch than dinner. I had the Tofu tacos and it was very filling. Highly recommend the chips and salsa as well.
TLDR: pretty well cooked tacos but still a bit too expensive (except for fish). I think $5 a taco for steak and chicken street tacos are a bit too high still, given it is meat, tortilla, onions and lettuce. The fish taco for weirdly the same price gives better value. I enjoyed the fish taco the best with a crispy exterior and soft interior as well as the hot sauce they provide, it had a nice acidity and spiciness that hits just right.

First time trying this place. Usual San Francisco restaurant aimed at tourists. Baja fish taco was nothing unusual Carne asada was so so Chips n salsa for $6.45 was too expensive considering the portion size was tiny. And salsa was super duper salty. Only go here if there’s a no other option available.
This place has fancy looks, good location, okay food. The tacos are 75% cabbage, 25% meat for premium prices. Bad combo. Wait times always long. Tourist trap. Better options exist in the area.
I had the Luchon. Pulled pork sandwich on a roll. It was OK. The meat was soft, the roll was soft and then it had sweet potato fries that were also soft. Great if you can't chew but would have been nice to have a different texture to break up the sandwich. Like maybe coleslaw or something. Made the sandwich kind of mushy but other than that it was good. I wouldn't order again
My stop for consistent and affordable food at the ferry building. Service was rough the last time. My wife ordered 3 carne asada tacos and I got 3 fish tacos. They missed it and only gave her one carne asada taco. So we had to reorder. In the last few years I feel that the hot sauce is no longer spicy. The ambience is nice where you can look out during the day and see the water. Come here for a quick, consistent and scenic bite. Best bite is their signature fish tacos
Overall great atmosphere, quality food, however better skip the chicken thighs. These are indeed rather dry as also commented by others here. All other food really nice.

Fish tacos just ok. You have to get the Pico de gallo as an add on aka extra. Fish fried taste like old oil.
I ordered tacos my order took forever. I had to go ask because my device didn’t even go off. My friends got their food but I got nothing. So I went to the counter and asked? the server lady just placed the small carton with the tacos and the drink on the counter and didn’t say anything to me or gave me a tray for the food and drink. Totally rude. No meat really just like tortillas with cabbage … and very small not tasty. The food was bad and the service just as bad. The ambiance was nice but I wouldn’t recommend it… how can you mess up tacos….
This man took the entire big family table to himself at this restaurant. We were 5 people including young children, and I thought maybe he was waiting for someone. It was a busy day, all seats were occupied. So we sat at the small table next to this one. Since we didn't find chairs around, and asked him if we could use one. Later we found out he is one of the staff there. I was so shocked. He was so unprofessional and impersonal. I would not go there again.
It’s a one star for the simple fact we showed up at 630pm (they close at 8pm) to order some food, sandwiches, I mean, they claim they are a sandwich shop. As we ordered our sandwiches we were told they were no longer serving sandwiches. Huh? A sandwich shop that isn’t serving any sandwiches an hour and a half before close? But we could get a taco! I’m writing this review before I have even tried the tacos purely based on principle. If you are a self proclaimed sandwich shop, you need to serve sandwiches.
Got 2 sandwiches. Chica pica and Cubano. Both are less than meh. Chica pica was spicy and that's it, I don't know if it was the sauce in it or something else but there was an overwhelming bitter flavor and just unseasoned at the same time? Idk. The Cubano is a joke. The meat is so tough and dry and 'porky' tasting. Once again no real flavor or seasoning. I could've made these at home with pantry staples. Super disappointed.
