Opinions de Crazy Pepper San Francisco
We're visiting San Francisco from out of town and decided to take the J line to the end and we saw this place. When we came in it was empty which I found slightly odd but the amazing smell coming from the back told me to give it a chance. We weren't disappointed! The food and service were great and we will definitely come back next time we're in town. For reference we ordered the vegetable spring rolls, pork pot stickers, mango chicken and bbq pork with tofu. All amazing!
The food here is to die for - best sweet and sour sauce ever! They have killer vegan options, offer free delivery and are open late. The other night when my guy and I were feeling indecisive, we didn't end up calling until 15 minutes before closing, and they still took our order! When we got there to pick it up, we saw they had done the same for a lot of other people and were staying open a little late to make sure everyone could get their food. As I said, we picked up the food so I can't comment on table service or atmosphere, but just walking in, I noticed the place was clean, cozy and tastefully decorated. Parking near here is a lot more forgiving than in other parts of the city, as long as you're okay with walking a block to get there. Highly recommend, especially for fellow veg heads!!
This review is only for their Korean fried chicken. I love how crispy the actual chickens, despite being drenched in this glaze. It's honestly not too spicy nor is it too sweet. The location is right across the street from the Balboa Park station. The actual restaurant from the outside doesn't look like much, but once you go it it looks like a nice sit in place.
Ordered delivery. Good quality Chinese food. We’ve tried a bunch of spots and this is our favorite.
The Crazy Pepper is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Every dish is flavorful and delicious. The best place in SF
I keep forgetting to take a picture of the food because once I get it I’m always in such a rush to get home and eat it! Get the Korean wings with some fried rice! I promise you will not be disappointed!!
I order delivery from here nearly every other week if not more! Their soups are absolutely delicious, but so is everything else! Try the salt and pepper pork chops and hot and sour soup! I order them all the time.
Delicious, fantastic and wonderful place for Chinese food! Everything is flavourful and not too greasy. I love the butter beef, walnut prawns and sizzling rice soup! Great service and easy to order for delivery. Thank you!
The Korean wings are AMAZING! On a regular day the wait isn’t long. However on busy nights, definitely order ahead. Service is great, and the wait is definitely worth it!!! There’s a reason why they get so busy 😄
Crazy Pepper is our go to. I found ordering on their website much more convenient than using 3rd party delivery apps. As always, the food was hot, crispy and delish. The delivery driver was courteous and arrived early.
I got what I ordered. Good price Good taste I can’t complain. I would come again.
This was our first time ordering from Crazy Pepper. While it took a long time to get take out, the food was absolutely the most freshest food we have ever had. We ordered BBQ pork chow mein, szechuan eggplant and spring rolls. All the veggies in all the foods were fresh and crisp and the egg rolls were not greasy. The flavors were balanced too. Will definitely order again.
One of my go to Chinese restaurants in my area and in the city. Please try the pan fried noodles!
Great food and affordably priced. Each and everything I’ve ordered on the menu has always been great. Not a bad dish on the menu.
Stayed in USA for month and it was our last meal before going back to Sweden. Stayed near airport Hotel and had difficulty to choose from, but happy to land on this restaurant. For was perfect, best Chinese restaurant we had in USA. Maybe we just got lucky, but everything was great! Portion size, not too spicy, not soggy - just pure pleasure! Ordered House special pan fried noodles - loved idea that noodles was delivered dry and sauce with meat and shrimp separately, just mix few min before eating and get perfect mix of crunch and flavours. Fried rice came as expected and Kung Pao prawns was fresh and flavored. Orange chicken was sweet, but not overdone or soggy, not too much artificial taste - I really enjoyed everything! Hope you enjoy your order, as we did. We found it tasty, hope its not just European thing...
Crazy pepper has amazing food! I feel like it needs better ratings. There are so many vegan options as well! I have always had a good experience ordering take out here
We go out of our way to get take out from here. Yesterday we ate crazy pepper filet and basil tofu. The food is still delicious. The crab rangoon is still amazing, with more crab than cream cheese, as it should be. I also enjoyed the eggplant, chicken wings (both delicious kinds) and other items from the menu over the years. We ordered pickup, but they seem to have dine in again.
I love Crazy Pepper! I have been coming here for years, do yourself a favor and order straight from the restaurant the prices are better and they deliver so quickly. I will say I miss the buy one get one rice or chow mien, when they first opened, but that was just an added bonus! I have tried so much on the menu, but my favorites are the Korean wings OBVIOUSLY, Mongolian beef, general so chicken, and walnut prawns. Attached is my most recent order, came piping hot with favors to die for.
The Sesame Chicken and Walnut shrimps hits. Ordered multiple times and they don’t miss. Let em’ cook

I ordered Uber eats ,let me tell you this is amazing top quality cooking . My general tsaos chicken and chicken chowmein were mouthwatering ! They provided napkins utensils and sauces . Thank you !
This is the greatest Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, and perhaps the best in the bay. I don't care about your favorite spot on grant avenue or how much you like the dry fry wings at San Tung. No, the staff is not friendly, no they are not going to make you feel like royalty. You sit down and you are served one of the best meals you will ever eat in your life. The waitress could call me a slur every time I go here and I wouldnt care. This is the undefeated GOAT and if you haven't dined here, you are wrong.
Great food and service. Came from out of town ordered our food to go but ended up dining in. Samantha was so kind and had amazing service. She seen we came inside cold and immediately offered us some hot tea. We stayed a bit longer than we should have but they didn't rush us and made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The food was a little wait but well worth it since it is very fresh and very delicious. Will definitely come back when we come back to town. Thank you for your hospitality!
I've come to Crazy Pepper a handful of times and it's always consistently good. The standout has to be their Korean chicken wings. They absolutely compete with San Tung's without the wait🤣 We also get a typically couple of rice plates and a noodle dish as well. All are well-portioned and delicious.
Like the food as compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. If you like spicy food, ask them to make it SPICY and you will not regret. Price to portion ratio is quite good. Not like other places where you pay a lot for small portions. Overall, nice place to have a good Chinese food.
Great service, good food and generally a great atmosphere. You may have to wait a bit during the lunch rush, but just be patient and wait. I for one say it is well worth it. If you’re a wing lover try the Korean chicken wings they are to die for literally. If you’re near the area or on campus come check it out.
The food here was so good! I ordered the Mongolian beef, potstickers, rice, soda and dessert. I absolutely loved the potstickers and the Mongolian beef. The portion for the beef was big. I took home half. The flavors were so good. This place is right across the street from the Balboa Park Bart Station. It was super easy to find. The Mongolian beef was spicy and yummy. You can request less spicy if you need to.
The food is amazing. Favorites include the tofu string bean w/ garlic and the Korean chicken wings. The wings especially are a favorite. Glad I live nearby. This is the #1 restaurant I go to for take out. Only downside is that the online ordering time estimates can be off during dinner service or other busy times. Estimate usually says 25-35 minutes but more realistically 45 min. But plan ahead and you’re good!

This is a solid American Chinese place. I wouldnt say this place is very authentic. Recommend ordering anything fried food except for fried rice. Not a fan of their fried rice with too much sauce. Again don't expect this place to be amazing- it's a good take out place with good fried chicken type of food and basic American Chinese like panda Express.
Had the lunch special beef and broccoli. It came with rice, soup, and an egg roll. The portion was kinda small and the pepper oil sauce on the side was flavorless. Everything was hot and well cooked. The service was fast.

Food are tasty, this place is busy with take outs. Older lady is nice but the young man at the cash register has attitude.
Szechuan Kung Pao tofu - okay 5.5/10. Have had far better szechuan and plant based chicken. Should have at least been sautéed and fried up a little to give it a little chew or crispiness of some sort. Ordering experience was a little awkward too. But appreciate the plant based options!
The food was good and it was a fast delivery, however I don’t know if this is new management but I have had three bad experiences and I will not be preferring from here again. First time I ordered and the call was somehow linked to DoorDash, I called the restaurant and they claimed they didn’t know how that happened I then called the number posted on THEIR webpage and asked how did I reach them and they told me they were in a partnership with the restaurant. I then called the restaurant back and let them Know what they said and they claimed I called them instead of the restaurant, I cancelled my order completely. The next time I ordered I received the total I then added two sprite, they then gave me the updates total .When the food arrived there were no sprites I called the restaurant and they said they didn’t charge me?! I then explained our entire ending conversation and he still said I wasn’t charged. I made my mind up than that I wasn’t going to order from then, however I did and this is the final straw, I sent the money down with my daughter and she came back and said it wasn’t enough I then went down and the driver was walking away I asked why wasn’t it enough he’s showing me 60$ the order was 47$ I said that’s enough and then I see he has a 20$ Rolled up in his hand literally lying and stealing at the same time. I am done, their food is good but they have some bad practice like scammers😩
Alright look people, this is very simple. Due to the effects of Covid, odds are that just like every restaurant out there, they are likely to be understaffed and overwhelmed by 'to go' orders. You might get it within an hour from when you ordered if you're lucky or ordered as soon as they open, but you should expect it to come much, MUCH later than that (like two and a half hours at most so plan accordingly). Take it from a former restaurant worker who experienced it first hand. Give them a break. That said, when the food came it was at least very warm to the touch if not hot and everything I ordered was there. In terms of customer service, well at least the person who made the delivery apologized for such a late delivery. Would have been nice if they called to inform me of any possible delays and maybe offered a can of soda for free instead of doing nothing but have me wonder if they have forgotten, but I guess I'm from the old crowd of restaurant workers who would do that.
Food was good and the two entrees I ordered were quite large but... My order was over 45 minutes late. I called the restaurant and they said it would be there in 10 minutes. Twenty-five minutes later I called again and they said it would be there any minute. I know many restaurants are short-staffed right now but some kind of update or apology would have gone a long way, or a more accurate delivery window. If you order delivery, I'd say order it knowing it would take a while. My food did not come with rice. All entrees except chicken state they do not come with rice, so I assumed the chicken dish would. They should update their website to specify this as it is deceiving.
First time here, The guy at the counter wasn’t welcoming whatsoever, I felt a bad vibe off of him, like he was sketched out taking my order. They definitely need to work on that. tried the Spicy Korean wings were hands down the best I’ve had after San tungs wings, very flavorful, crispy chicken and zesty sauce that you really can’t get enough of. 10 wings for $19, that’s typical SF prices, not surprised. I walked in at 1:58 and wanted to dine in, he said “we close in 15 minutes you can’t eat here…” okay.. I had to eat in my car which I don’t mind but common some customer service and respect goes along way AND if you’re going to reopen in 2 hours, an extra 10 minutes to eat won’t hurt, especially if you’re the owner or a close relative working. That being said the wings were on point and delicious and highly recommended.
Been disappointed in all of the Chinese food I’ve had since moving to SF. crazy pepper is NOT BAD. This moo shu pork is the most fun/fresh/well packed/yummy item I’ve had from delivery Chinese in the city. Disappointed in the hot and sour soup, at 8.99 I was at least expecting lots of contents but a few thin strips of tofu, mushroom and egg. The flavor was good but This soup should be less than half the price it is.
This place looks like a family owned business which is nice and cozy; however, the food, unfortunately, wasn’t that great. We ordered the hot and sour soup, and I felt like it was microwaved. It wasn’t hot enough, and it was watery without the “hot” component in it. On the other hand, the appetizer, Crab Rangoon(?), and pepper steak were good. I would order the appetizer again if I decided to go to the restaurant, but I certainly would not seek this place out.

I used to order from these guys ALL the time. I love that they have alternative chicken and shrimp dishes for vegetarians. UNFORTUNATELY, the last delivery, they delivered the wrong item. Immediately I called and they said that they would refund my money. It never happened. As good as the food is, I can't keep throwing bad money after bad money.
Wait too long for my orders like 45 minutes even l Pfeiffer.
Food is good & tasty. Service is poor. Under staffed. Wait time is long. Forced to do takeout, since they don't like to serve dine-in 30 minutes before afternoon closing at 2:30 pm.

Got there around 2pm. Only one customer eating. ALL the tables were dirty. I sat at the least dirty table. Finally server came, wiped the table with slightly wet rag, then without waiting for it to dry, put a single napkin on the wet table. Ordered shrimp egg foo young. The egg was dry and overcooked. The room temperature shrimp was on top of the egg with a DRIZZLE of sauce. I swallowed a forkful of eggs, and tasted/spat out what seemed to be a raw squid. Never saw the server again until he gave me the check, and I really wanted to order another can of coke to wash the taste of the food.
Terrible service. My orange chicken was raw and the chow fun taste off like it was old. When I called to address this issue, I was told its not their problem and was hung up on. I called back asking to speak to a manager who proceeded to raise his voice at me and once again hung up on me.
Showed up 50 minutes before they closed and would not take an order for soup. REALLY. This is while they had several diners still eating and I was a to-go order. Told me that they would not take the order because they were waiting to clean the floors. The restaurant was to close quite a while later... It is fine with me but just wanted to let people know how they treat customers. Will not be back
Disappointed twice! First time i ordered broccoli beef and it was 90 to 95 percent broccoli and a little bit of beef, second time i ordered string bean chicken with same result, a mountain of green beans and little chicken. I called to complain and the person in charge had the nerve to tell me that green beans are more expensive than the chicken.. my meal was $19 and most of it was green beans.
1st time ordering. Ordered through Uber eats so $23.00 for an order of tomato beef chow mein. Chow mein dry, slightly chewy. Not much flavor nor ingredients other than noodles. Didn't eat much, it was edible but was expecting much better.
This place was recommended to me by a friend and i'm not sure if it was because it was my first time and it was late. But in my opinion the food just isn't worth .. really didn't like it .
The worst Chinese food I've ever had Haha! They ran out of broccoli, that's fine. I got Mongolian chicken. Apparently Mongolian means onion in Chinese because after picking through like 5 small pieces of chicken, this is what was left. Yea, that is ALL onion... c'mon man. I live right down the street so this really bummed me out my closest Chinese restaurant is this bad.

Worst customer welcomer I have ever experienced. He is not nice at all for any customer. If you do not want to make money so go and do another things. The worst of the worst.
Owner's service attitude is absolutely appalling!!! Two of us went to Crazy Pepper to eat the CHAMPSS elderly meal this evening. We haven't been there for a long period. The experience of this time was about the same as the previous two times. They made us feel we were not welcomed as we are CHAMPSS members. When we entered the restaurant, after they found we were eating the elderly meal, they told us to sit at a small table although there were no other parties in the restaurant at the time. And then they said unless we both ordered the same dish on the menu, otherwise, we would have to wait for 45 minutes to an hour. We felt deeply disrespected and looked down by them. I suggest that if the owner of Crazy Pepper does not want to serve members of CHAMPSS program, they can just choose not to do business with it. There is no need to show such a bad attitude to the seniors.
