Opinions de Dynamo Donut & Coffee San Francisco
I clicked my heels three times and ended up at my own personal slice of heaven in San Francisco - Dynamo Donut! From the moment that you step in, you are embraced by the aromas of freshly fried donuts and delicious craft coffee. The options in terms of donuts are extensive and each unique in their own way. Highly recommend the maple bacon donut - it literally melts in your mouth and the crunch and saltiness of the bacon makes it truly dynamic. If you're looking to get a bit of fresh air, their garden in the back of the shop provides a relaxing setting for enjoying their delicious donuts. The garden is absolutely beautiful and well-kept. There are also vegan and wheat-free options too.
What a gem of a shop in the Mission District. Donuts are delicious, my favorite is the maple bacon. Our dog goes crazy for the doggy donuts. See video
Dynamo is my favorite cup of coffee on the East side of 24th Street. ALL the donut flavors are amazing! They are almost all cake style, (can't say I've ever seen a deep fryer there.) and they usually have about four flavors that are gluten free. Their Coffee is great. People are always kind And the back patio is a magical spot of sunshine. Bonus: if you bring your pup, be sure to check out the doggy donuts!!! Good boi approved.
Best gluten free donut I've ever had. A must try if you are gluten free!! It has the texture like a real donut, which lots of other places fall short of. Innovative and unique flavors as well.
Dynamo Donut & Coffee was founded in 2008 as a local artisan donut shop featuring seasonal locally-sourced ingredients. This location in the Mission is a short walk away from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, making this a perfect stop for those in the area (as I was on this morning). I decided to get an iced pistachio matcha latte paired with an apple cinnamon donut (it is fall after all). My selections were prepared in record time, and I decided to take a seat inside their cozy storefront to enjoy breakfast before embarking on the rest of the day. The apple cinnamon donut was fluffy, flavorful, and not-too-sweet. The pistachio matcha latte was absolutely amazing - the light flavor of the pistachio completed the earthy matcha perfectly and was an instant favorite of mine (makes me wonder why there aren't more pistachio matcha lattes out there now). With their delicious drinks and wide variety of donuts, I'll definitely be visiting Dynamo Donut & Coffee again when I'm in the area!
We have been coming here for years! It’s always my first stop post San Francisco Marathon. The donuts are baked fresh all day long, the flavors are unique spice combinations. My favorite is the chocolate rose. The coffee is excellent with free refills. Located in the Mission District with lots of fun eclectic shops and restaurants. A fun area to explore. We like to walk around and take in all the graffiti art. There is a friendly staff and plenty of seating inside and out back on the patio. Dog friendly too! Plenty of paid street parking, we have never had an issue finding a spot.
Our family love Dynamo cafe. Previous owner made place cozy and friendly. Now there is a new owner and so far the taste of donuts hasn’t changed. About coffee, funnily enough it depends on the barista. It might be the same Vanilla Latte or (Lavander before), but some barista can make it a bit sweeter and the other less sweet. It’s a street level place so it’s easy to come in even for strollers or people on wheelchairs. They have a big variety of donuts, so everyone will find their favorite. My personal choice is classic vanilla donut with chocolate on top as well as vegan spice chocolate. There is always a line, there is a good foot traffic so you can order from the window and take it to go or sit inside, or even on the quiet backyard. They are kids and dogs friendly!
I'm usually not a donut person, but this place has me smitten. The prices are about what you would expect for a nicer, craft donut place, and imo it's worth it for the creative flavors and overall quality. I love the texture of the donuts--they're very moist and soft and cakey. I also love that despite some of the more adventurous sounding flavors, none of the donuts I tried are overly sweet. I usually feel disgusting after a bite or two of a donut, but I ate two whole donuts this morning and didn't feel sick nor did I experience a sugar crash. I wish I had discovered this place sooner, but it's probably for the best that I didn't 😅 I will absolutely be back next time I'm in San Francisco.
This is my favorite coffee shop in San Francisco! Without a doubt the most creative latte art I’ve received on the lavender latte (delish by the way! Easily my favorite coffee) and other drinks. Their vegan donuts and gluten free options are pretty darn tasty, if I might add. Service is usually friendly and quick to medium (I prefer they take their time with my bev), music is a variety, and the donuts… Killer! I love the passionfruit flavor they have here. I highly recommend the spot on 24th st. The one in the Marina is a bit complicated to get to, but worth it if you’re out on a bike ride, or planning an outing to the greens. I believe their latte art is unique and challenging to do so consistently! What I have found impressive is the baristas’ ability to avoid spills down the side of the cup while pouring these masterpieces. Check out the pictures for reference! Thanks for keeping your doors open , coffee flavorful, and your cups hot! ♥️☕️ $1-$10 if you go drink only $10-$20 if you do drink plus a donut/ bread (focaccia tasted 10/10 last time!)
We love Dynamo Donuts!! No visit to San Francisco would be complete without stopping at Dynamo Donuts! We’ve been coming almost since they opened 16 years ago. Lots of classic and creative flavors and always something new. Really friendly - great service! You can tell a lot of locals come by and are here often by the friendly banter - always a good sign! One of our favorites is the maple bacon. You’ll find yourself craving it! Everything is freshly made and the owner of Dynamo even makes her own jam (jelly??) for the filled donuts. The lattes are great as well. You can order from the outside window and take it to go, sit inside on the stools at the counter where you can watch all the movement in the kitchen, or head out back to the cutest courtyard patio when the weather is good. Super cute! When you are done, there’s lots to explore and so many finds and hidden gems around the Mission district. Wander down and check out the local graffiti art on Balmy Alley! So much going on in the Mission! And Dynamo is a definite can’t miss!
IMHO the best Bay Area Donut is a close competition between Dynamo Donut and Johnnys Doughnuts. I love the flavor variety and the seasonal changes at Dynamo. Perhaps so far my favorite is the spiced chocolate. Simple but delicious. I recommend picking up a box (reasonably priced!) for your next get together :)
Simply delicious way to start the day! We came here in the morning for coffee and donuts and both were delicious. All the flavors are so creative and out of this world! They have only vegan options. They make it fresh here and you can see them making it right behind the store. Great indoor seating and outdoor area as well. What a nice gem in the neighborhood
Their donuts are not your typical donut. These seem to be moist like not dry at all. And I loved that. They are less fluffier than the usual donut, but its density is needed for the flavors. We got maple bacon, toffee coffee and wanted to try something outside the typical donut and it was a corn fritter. The fritter had corn, Tajín and a lime taste to it, don’t think it’s corn bread. It works! But not sure it’s my thing. Their flavors are unique and definitely coming back. The pictures I took them at home after a long walk in the mission so they took some damage and some nibbles.
Cute little donut store that offers delicious donuts and coffee to the early birds. I love that they open early, when I stopped by on a Saturday morning, there was already a tiny line before 8am. I had two donuts: Chocolate Rose and Caramel de Sel. Both are pretty tasty and aren’t too sweet or too heavy so I liked them. But there is something that bothers me: once the donut is placed in the small paper bag, its glazing would get smeared and in my case, a lot of the glazing stayed on the paper bag rather than on the donut :-/
Great flavors but I wasnt impressed with the donut itself. We tried the Chai, Passionfruit chocolate and raspberry filled. The flavors were on point but the donut itself left a lot to be desired. It almost tasted day old, just not fresh.
Walk-up donut window with a nice back patio. Coffee is good. Donut flavors are interesting and change seasonally, but are often too fancy for me, and a bit dry. Donuts are also a bit pricy at ~$5 each. Cute neighborhood spot, but it won't replace a classic chocolate glazed in my heart.
Not being from San Fran I was just looking for an incredible donut place that had some element of gluten free. I found this highly rated and I and my family were sadly disappointed by the donuts. They were avg. nothing to rave about. Cute, Grundy, artistic location, very urban- which is fun. But the fluffiness wasn’t there for the donuts and flavor was lacking.
I'm not picky about donuts, I love them most of the time. But these were just not good, especially for the price point. The vegan chocolate rose was dense for no reason, no flavor. The vanilla milk chocolate was literally salty. I’ve never experienced anything like that. The vanilla bean was fine but basic and I'm probably rating it higher becase I'm comparing it to the first two. The coffee glazed donut was decent and the only one I liked. And my almond milk latte was just ok. I’m very confused by the reviews- there are way better donuts for MUCH cheaper in SF.
