Opinions de Fog Harbor Fish House San Francisco
What a wonderful dinner we had at Fog Harbor! We were celebrating my friend's retirement and Shawn our server was great and joined in to make it a really fun evening! The scallop & crab risotto (with grilled shrimp added) and crab gnocchi were both delicious! Best seafood we've had in San Francisco! Laughter, great customer service and wonderful food made our evening so fun! And the dessert was fabulous too!!
Fog Harbor Fish House was absolutely amazing! The restaurant itself is beautiful and the view or the harbor and ocean with the sunset is incredible it makes the whole dining experience feel really special. The food was fantastic. The oysters were perfect! super fresh and full of flavor. Everything we had was delicious and you can really tell they care about quality. Our waiter, Andres, made the experience even better. He was excellent, professional, friendly, quick, and totally on point the whole time. He made sure everything was perfect and we felt really well taken care of even offered to take our pictures! If you’re looking for great seafood with an incredible view and top-notch service, I highly recommend Fog Harbor Fish House. I’ll definitely be coming Back next time im in SF!
JUJU is the best server ! She helped me enjoy the perfect lunch with nice scenery of of the water! The food was overly delicious I had the crab cakes which Juju recommend, i definitely waned to buy more. The Mixed Grill was the perfect way to try shrimp, cod, and salmon. The Biscoff cheese cake, omg I’m having flash backs. and lastly my Lychee martini. Everything was great, I highly recommend!
Fog Harbor Fish House is a great place for delicious seafood in San Francisco. The food is fresh and very tasty, and a big plus is the availability of gluten-free options. The restaurant also offers beautiful views of the bay, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended!
We enjoyed the friendly service. Food was good. Love the clam chowder in the sourdough bread bowl. Everyone seemed pleased. The view is incredible. They have happy hour menu at the bar. Drinks were not that good. We still enjoyed our meal. We have been here many times over the years and will continue to come back .
The food is great. Served quickly. I love the cioppino and my baby’s clapping for their clam chowder! Our server Pedro is so sweet & attentive. But everyone there are friendly. Kids friendly. They have a high chair & gave us a large paper bib, wet tissues, without being asked. Clean restrooms.
We stopped for dinner at Fog Harbor Fish House during our stay at Fisherman’s Wharf. The atmosphere and the views were amazing. The food was fresh and delicious—we especially loved the Caesar salad with avocado and crab meat. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we never felt rushed during our meal.
We enjoyed a special dinner on December 24th in a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere with stunning views of the Bay. I ordered a seafood combination plate with salmon, shrimp, and fish, served with green beans and creamy mashed potatoes. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My partner ordered a fish dish with potatoes and really enjoyed it. We also shared a bottle of white wine, which paired perfectly with the meal. The dessert was delicious, a warm crumble served with ice cream, and the service was excellent—very attentive and friendly. Everything was beautiful and made the evening feel truly special. Highly recommended for special occasions. ✨
Reservations are a must here if you want a spectacular view, especially at sunset. Most restaurants in SF do not require reservations in our experience, but if you want the view, plan ahead. Our server, Elle M, was fantastic: attentive, warm, and excellent at her job. I ordered the sourdough clam chowder, and my spouse had the fish and chips. Both dishes were great, but what really sets Fog Harbor apart is their house beverages. I had the Fog Harbor Pale Ale, and my spouse enjoyed their red wine. Both were excellent. From an international perspective, after living in Korea for many years, one small improvement would be adding call buttons at the tables so servers know exactly when they are needed. That said, Elle’s service was already exceptional. Overall, this was a memorable experience with great food, great drinks, and unbeatable views. A perfect spot for a sunset meal
The food here is truly excellent. It's important that seafood be cooked well, and this was not even slightly overdone. Everything was salted gently, just enough to bring out the other flavors and not a bit more. The meal was also well paced. We got drinks, then complimentary warm rolls and butter, then my salad, and our entrees maybe 7 or 8 minutes later. We split a creme brulee for dessert and it was excellent. Smooth, rich, with a not-too- sweet custard, full of real vanilla bean flecks. The atmosphere was great. Beautiful dining room and clean tables. Being seated next to the servers station isn't always the best, but it did get us very quick attention when we needed it.
Best steak and beer in my whole San Francisco trip has been here. Who would have thought? The $50~ filet mignon smoked a $100 steak from Burbon Steak house. My wife loved her clam chowder bread bowl with crab. Service fast and friendly. This place is efficient and it’s impressive. I don’t eat seafood and I’m rating it 5 stars. I’d do 6 if I could.
I presented at the Pacific Ancient and Modern Languages Association 122nd Annual Conference at the Intercontinental Hotel this morning, and we came here for lunch immediately after because I had heard positive reviews back when I was planning for this trip. Our experience was beyond our expectations! Our server Kiel was very sweet, and upon learning we are visiting from Texas, he took it upon himself to handwrite a few places for us to check out! So kind! The clam chowder in the bread bowl was divine 🥰 my husband thoroughly enjoyed his lobster roll. We got a scenic view, and it wasn’t too busy when we went. 5/5 would do again gladly!
We celebrate our 22nd anniversary with my boys. They able to accommodate with only two days in advance reservation. The receptionists were great with big smile, they are lace us next to the window for the night view to the golden gate after I asked for a favor. The food and services was wonderful. We had a walk derail evening and a place I will suggest to visit for a memorable evening.
Exceptional dining experience at Fog Harbor Fish House! We had an amazing meal with a beautiful view of the bay. The calamari was perfectly crisp and flavorful, and the miso-glazed salmon was cooked to perfection; tender, flaky, and full of flavor. Our server, Jorge, made the experience even better with his friendly attitude and attentive service. He made us feel welcome from start to finish. Highly recommend this spot if you’re visiting San Francisco and want fresh seafood with great service and atmosphere!
Every dish was exceptionally prepared and well-balanced in flavor. The scallops with risotto were tender and meaty, while the mixed seafood grill offered a generous portion with a perfect char and tangy, well-seasoned finish. The salmon was flawlessly grilled, and the cod, paired with a creamy sun-dried tomato sauce, was rich and satisfying. The penne chicken pasta carried a bright pesto flavor, tying the meal together beautifully. Nothing was over-seasoned—just thoughtfully crafted, flavorful dishes from start to finish. We paired it with the California Sauvignon Blanc.
We had such a great time on our 6th Anniversary at Fog Harbor! The food was soooo good! The service was top notch. We were welcomed by one of the Manager named Arif. He was very professional, very welcoming, very polite and very attentive. Our server's name is Jordan. He was very friendly and always checked in with us if everything was alright. He was very smiley too! Thank you so much for making our 6th anniversary so special. We had such a wonderful time and it was also my mom's first time in the US and our first time at Fog Harbor! It was all worth it :)) The ambience was so great. We had a table with sea lion view :)) The ventilation was good. Although the tables are kinda close to each other, it does not feel like crampy. I would recommend this place as well if you are looking for a place to celebrate your anniversary in a way that does not make you feel uncomfortable. I felt not being myself when I went to fine dining experience. This place not only can fill your stomach but also offer great experience. Recommended! This establishment lived up to it's reputation. The atmosphere to include the views of the bay were outstanding. Staff were very personable and efficient. The food was outstanding. We had two appetizers which consisted of sourdough blue cheese garlic bread and sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder, crab, and bacon. We also enjoyed the Cioppino. I also enjoyed the Fog Harbor Lager. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I made reservations while we were in town on our anniversary vacation. It was no hassle to make the reservations and our table was ready when we showed up. It is a busy place so if you want to guarantee a table, make the reservation. Haleigh was our server and she was phenomenal. Very easy going, quick to answer questions and made accommodations swiftly as we changed our minds on her. We could not have had better, Haleigh is simply the best. The food was amazing and just how my husband remembered it from 20 years ago. It is easy to see why the clam chowder is renowned. The steak was cooked to perfection and the lobster was finger licking good. We even splurged on the duo desert with the chocolate cake in raspberry sauce and mini creme brulee which was a perfect ending to a perfect meal. We highly recommend Fog Harbor, we highly recommend Haleigh as your server, and we highly recommend saying yes to the dessert menu. You will not regret these choices.
Great convenient location on pier 39. This is a popular destination so expect wait time at the restaurant during peak times. We got lucky and was seated for early dinner around 5 pm right away. Our table was all the way in the back on the interior side by the kitchen... Felt stuffy, but that's the trade off for getting seating right away. Food prices were reasonably compared to Miami, our base. Famous clam chowder in sourdough bread bowl at $13 is a bargain.. Not to be missed... Delicious! Shellfish platter for 1 had greatly prepared fresh seafood. Heavy on the butter but great tasting noodle. Kid plates $11---what a bargain.... Great tasting too.. Dessert was spot on as well.
A very traditional seafood restaurant, with a beautiful view if you sit by the window. The prices aren't cheap, but since you're at Pier 39 in San Francisco, delicious stewed seafood is the perfect choice. The fish and shrimp are very fresh, the claim chowder is also quite good, and delicious sourdough bread is served before the meal. Service is friendly .
I love dining on the Pier! I haven't been to San Francisco in YEARS but when a work conference brought me to town, I knew I had to make the trip to Pier 39. Fog Harbor Fish House checked two major boxes: delicious food and a great view. We were lucky enough to be seated in the back corner of the restaurant which, in my opinion, has the best views. We were able to see Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge from our table (also some very entertaining sea lions). The restaurant is very noisy but the view made up for that. The clam chowder was good. I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had but I would certainly order it again. Next up, the shellfish platter for two was insanely filling. For whatever reason, shellfish platters never *look* like a lot of food but it almost always is. All of the seafood was delicious though I wish there were more garlic noodles. I was told the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna was delicious as well, it certainly looked like it. I also had a lychee martini, it was tasty but didn't have as much of a lychee flavor as I was hoping for. The service was okay as well. Our waiter was friendly but overall quite slow. We had to wait a while for drink refills and waited for about 30 minutes from the time we asked for the check to when we got it. Overall, Fog Harbor was worth the trip. Just don't plan in dining here if you don't have a decent amount of time...(minimum 2 hours, IMO).
Really good atmosphere, food was good (although I prefer the chowder from the crab house) the shrimp appetizer was really good, spicy and savory. The pasta was phenomenal as well. The only thing that I would point out would be the service, our server never gave us his name, and he seem like he didn't want to be there.. other than that food was great.
Great restaurant on pier 39, where you can see the sea lions just nearby. The highlight was the scallop risotto. The scallops were seared to perfection, with a nice crust on the outside and almost a buttery flesh that just melted away. The clam chowder was a classic and great to show guests who have never tried chowder. If the whole party has, I would probably order more from the menu. The cioppino was nice, a good mix of seafood, but no overwhelming strong flavours. Good sharing plate.
Tried the seasonal Cajun crab and the clam chowder in sourdough bread at Fog Harbor Fish House. The Cajun crab wasn’t my favorite — seasoning was pretty mild, herbs were a bit overpowering, and some potatoes were undercooked, so it tasted more like herbs and butter than Cajun. The clam chowder, though, was really good and definitely the highlight. Service was quick, and the ambience was good as well.
When we’re near the ocean, we always make a point to try the fish and chips. The fish was cod, but the batter was overly thick and quite oily. The fries were also disappointing, tasting like they’d been sitting out for a while. The clam chowder was another miss—the celery flavor completely overpowered anything else the chowder might have offered. On the other hand, the crab cakes were excellent. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo before we dug in.
I really wish I could give this restaurant 5 stars. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very upscale, though quite loud. However, the service was absolutely terrible. First of all, our waiter, Deniss (who never told us his name to begin with) never brought any bread and butter. Okay, small thing. Excusable. But then he then forgot an extra soup bowl I requested so I could share the chowder with my wife. I asked the guy who brought our food (a different guy) for a bowl. It never came. I finally asked Deniss a second time for a bowl and finally received it in between his socializing with the table next to us. After that, he came over again to socialize with the people at the table next to us. While doing so, he actually sat down on the edge of our table with us back to us while we were eating! Really?! He was totally oblivious to what he was doing and stayed there for a good minute or so. His squirming and gesturing shook the whole table. Of all the years of eating at restaurants of any quality, I've never had that happen. And to make matters worse, his socializing was very loud. For that matter the restaurant was loud in general. I'm not sure what they could do to fix that part. Lastly, toward the end of our meal when Deniss came to see if we wanted anything else, I said no, and he immediately handed me the bill. He had already prepared it! He didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. It felt as is we were being invited to leave. Terrible, terrible service. So, 5 for the truly great food, 1 (zero if I could) for the absolutely horrible service, which equals an average of 3. Sorry Fog Harbor. I really wish I could give you better, but you have some server problems to fix.
