Great dim sum selections. Everything is made to order and come out steaming. One of the best dim sum I’ve had in a long time.
We booked a private event in the upstairs balcony area. The food was hot and delicious, Sam, Jenny and the rest of the team was quick, efficient, and very helpful with our questions and requests. Our guests and family all commented how delicious the food and how excellent the service was. Larry helped us set up the event, he was very patient and very thorough in his explanation. He took the time to ensure the layout of the tables were to our liking. This will be our top option for events moving forward.
I visited the place a few times because the food there is so good. But one night, there was a wedding in the mezzanine upstairs; it’s not a separate room. They had a dance floor in the main dining room and the Chinese dancing music was extremely loud, making conversation impossible.
Great for dim sum (only during lunch hours) and large parties. Family friendly and roomy inside. Traditional Chinese food and fast service despite having multiple lunch gatherings on a Saturday. We had a reservation for 10 via Yelp. Was seated quickly and our favorite dishes were chow fun, rice noodles, fish porridge, pork bbq buns, fried wings and deep fried milk.
I googled and yelped for a dim sum restaurant in the North Bay and came across Grand Palace Seafood Restaurant, which had strong reviews. It’s a large banquet-style restaurant, clearly designed for events and weddings, with two floors and live seafood tanks. I stopped in early on a Thursday around 11:30 a.m., and it was fairly quiet—just about five large families and me as a solo diner. Parking is paid, either on the street or in a nearby garage a block away, but it wasn’t too expensive (minimum one hour). The manager greeted me warmly, seated me, and brought water right away. I skipped the tea, and my dim sum arrived promptly. Here, you order directly from the menu rather than selecting from pushcarts, which is more common these days. The nostalgic pushcart style from the ’80s and ’90s isn’t really the norm anymore. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and service was efficient. I imagine weekends get busy with families, but for a weekday lunch there was no wait and a very relaxed atmosphere. One thing I’ve noticed when searching on Yelp or Google is that “dim sum” often gets mixed in with juicy dumpling (Mandarin-style) spots, which isn’t the same as Cantonese dim sum. It’s a bit unfortunate that the apps don’t distinguish, but I was glad this restaurant satisfied my craving.
We recently celebrated a red egg first birthday at Grand Palace, and it was an unforgettable experience! The atmosphere was perfect for such a special occasion, with elegant decor and a warm, inviting ambiance that made everyone feel welcome. The food was outstanding, as always. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, each one bursting with authentic flavors and beautifully presented. The Peking duck, dim sum, and seafood dishes were all highlights, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and taste. The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure the celebration was perfect. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations that pleased everyone in our party. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Grand Palace truly knows how to make special occasions memorable with their exceptional food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommended for any celebration or a fantastic meal! Five stars all the way!
Delicious and authentic dim sum and more! Was really glad to find out that dim sum is still available for dinner, as is only ever been here for lunch. Food is excellent. Service is normally very good and fast, but if you come too early in the dinner service, they may not have enough staff for the demand. Nonetheless, strongly recommend for good quality and tasty offerings!
July 2023: Ordered a set menu for dinner. Everything was really tasty 😋. The appetizer plate was delicious. The roasted pig 🐖 was probably one of the tastiest that I have had in a long time. Tasted like a baby pig! Soup fish maw was very good. Light and not overly salty. Tofu with mushrooms and greens was excellent 👍. Beef cubes was great. Peking duck 🦆 was nice and crispy. Steamed whole fish tasted very fresh! Lobster noodles was perfectly cooked. Lobster tasted fresh! Overall, the dinner was excellent 👍. Service was balanced. Would definitely come back again for more delicious dinner!
Came here right as they opened at 10:30AM on the Thursday before Christmas weekend. Large dining room with a secondary dining room overflow area. Easily able to accommodate large parties. Started to get a little busy around 11:30AM with 10-12 tables used but still over half the dining room available so almost no wait time to be seated. Ordered a variety of dishes from beef tripe, to sautéed pea shoots, the staples like shrimp dumpling, egg tarts. But the masterpiece and the thing I'll remember forever is the perfectly cooked sautéed whole live Maine lobster. This thing was cooked to seconds of perfection and perfectly opaque but not a second over done to become rubbery and not a second under where you can see translucent flesh. Flavors were absolutely delicious, well executed and prepared making it easy to fish out all the meat from inside the shell. Every dish from the lobster to the staples were all of similar quality and execution. Wouldn't hesitate to come back here again.
Great place for Dim sum. Ever have deep fried calamari where the batter was a shrimp chip, no? Well you can here and it is amazing. When I ordered it and it came out I was like I don't know about this but damn it was good. Loved the piggy mango pudding bites very entertaining for the kids. The jung was perfect had those baby dried shrimp in there so tasty. Highly recommend coming here for Dim sum.
It had been a few years since I've been there. My sister reminded me that we had a good time. So we went again and Im more inclined to go back bc its just Good. From service to food. Staff seem happy too for a Chinese restaurant. If you know, you know.
Solid Dim Sum offerings. liked the amount of varieties offered. We came here a couple of days after coming here for New Year's dinner with family. we liked the food at night and were impressed with what the kitchen was able to put out under stressful conditions of a very full house.
Throwing a new update of this place as I came here recently (1/4/26) I usually like to order the typical items I would get normally at dim sum. We ordered our favorite items, so it's easy for me to compare to other spots. Items we ordered: siu mai, har gow, steamed chicken feet, beef balls, tripe with turnip, chiu zhou dumplings, deep fried taro, deep fried pork dumplings, fried calamari, beef rice rolls, and steamed pork buns. My highlights were the siu mai, beef rice rolls, and the tripe with turnip. Most of the food comes out hot, except the taro dumpling. Servers are attentive and constantly removing empty dishes and checking on the water for our tea. Prices are decent and some are surprisingly well priced as compared to other local spots. Parking can be tricky if you're only looking for street spots. There is a convenient garage or lots around as well. -- Most of the dishes we got were barely warm. The cherng fun we order seemed like it was steaming when the lid was removed, but when we ate it, it was lukewarm. The lao sa bao was cold and the inside was solid. WHY??!? The custard buns shaped like a pig were cute, but I definitely remember seeing them at Ranch 99. 😂 Overall, not my favorite dim sum place, but there's not many options in the area.
Attended a banquet luncheon upstairs here on a Saturday around lunch for over 50 people. Service was quick, and there were lots of people having dim sum for lunch. There’s street parking and also a parking lot across the street. Your traditional dim sum items- pork, fried shrimp balls, seaweed salad, duck, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, noddles, shrimp hargow, sio mai. Wide variety and you can always take home the leftovers. Busy spot and events also can be held around there too.
We went there around 20:45. The restaurant closes at 21:00. They still welcome us for having dinner. So we had quick orders stir-fry Chinese broccoli (kailan) with garlic, Yangzhou fried rice, dim sum and bbq pork buns. For 2 people I think it’s too much but yes I knew we ordered when we were very hungry. For me I like Kailan with garlic and fried rice. The texture of vegetable is still crispy outside but inside it is soft. It didn’t hard to chew it and it didn’t smell green as I am not a big fan of vegetables. Fried rice is good. It’s not oily and there was a strong flavor of wok. Dim sum and buns for me were ok but not the best one I have ever eaten. There is parking in front of the restaurant but it’s limited (around 3 cars can park) as it’s public parking along side of road. You can find some but maybe with a bit of walking then. Inside the restaurant was clean and have enough space. You can feel comfortable during enjoy your meal.
Slightly below average Chinese restaurant for taste. Had a ten course dinner here and each dish tasted bland. Their lobster, steamed fish, walnut shimpans longevity noodles especially were bland. No flavor. Out of all the dishes I ate, only the almond cookies tasted fine. Interior decor is good for large parties. Includes a stage and enough room for dance performances. Street parking is difficult. Better to go to one of the free public lots around the corner. The restaurant is two stories and has plenty of seating for a wedding banquet. Service was average. This would not be one of my top selections to impress friends. Better to find another Chinese restaurant.
I am giving a low rating because I found at least 5 caterpillars in my take-out dish. I ate at this place and had gotten food delivery numerous times before, all prior to the pandemic years. Everything was good in my prior experiences. Recently, when my friend dined in at the restaurant, I asked her to buy me take-out of a tofu dish, which had a lot of broccoli in it. The food tasted good as usual; but to my horror, I found 5 "extra proteins" in the broccoli (there might had been more which I ate--yuck!!). They were nicely camouflaged, but not too hard to miss had the broccoli been cleaned well and cut a little smaller. I certainly did not appreciate that, and couldn't understand how the restaurant could have served food like that. This experience also told me about the quality of the vendor from which the restaurant gets their ingredients. Definitely, Grand Palace is now on my black list.
Went here for Lunar New Year banquet dinner. We made reservations for 12 people weeks in advance. Dinner progressed backwards with appetizers platter came out last. Soup was barely half a bowl per person. The banquet menu included a Peking duck. We were told that they were out of stock and would substitute with a nice chicken. Toward the end of the meal, we were told they were also out of chicken. They ended up subbing out out with a single squab. What a absolute disappointment for an $800 meal. Never going back.
