I made a dinner reservation here on a weekend to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Neither of us have ever been here, but it was recommended by a close one of mine and I heard a lot of great things about this place. Upon arrival, it was a busy night, was greeted by one of their host on the first floor where she directed us to the dining area. Luckily we made a reservation since it was a full house with people waiting outside and the benefit of the reservation was that our group was seated almost immediately. This place offers fine Cantonese dishes that uses premium and careful picked out ingredients and a handful of house made drinks. Their menu is simple that include a lot of delicious options such as Peking duck, salt and pepper crab which is a must, dim sum that is served all day, special double boiled soup in a claypot, baked black cod and much more to choose from. Also everything is made to order which is always a plus for me since it is quality over quantity. We ordered a bunch of dishes and I recommend the same since most of their portion size are quite small. The staffs here are very welcoming, well trained, understanding and polite where it made our experience a satisfying and issue free one. If you parked at the garage across the street, they can validate your parking ticket that can subtract up to three hours which is a pretty sweet deal. The crowd here is very diverse and any age group is welcomed here. They have a elevator for anyone who uses a wheelchair, walker or have limited mobility, but the max person in the elevator is limited to two. The interior of the restaurant is very authentic, with paintings, furniture, statues that are most likely imported from China. The prices here are not crazy and more on the reasonable side. I have to say this place is well known in San Francisco that is at a great location and they are Michelin recommended plus the time I spent here people were arriving non-stop to fill tables as ones were leaving. Overall I am happy that I got to try this place out with the ones that matter the most to me. I highly recommend this place to all Chinese food enthusiasts, if you are looking to try something new or if you just so happen to be in the area to check them out. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.
We had the crispy pork belly, stir fry beef, fried chicken and fried rice. We went around lunch time and were able to get a seat immediately. The service was pretty fast and the food was also great! I definitely recommend getting the fried rice. We werent in the mood for dimsum that day but it was the closest to us so we gave it a tey and we are pretty happy coming here! We will definitely order dimsum next time.
Harborview Restaurant was an amazing experience for first time. The food was delicious everything we ordered was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The roast duck with buns, fried rice, and noodles were all so tasty. You can really tell they use fresh ingredients and put care into every dish. It was pretty crowded when we went, but the staff stayed friendly and patient the whole time. I had my 15 month-old baby with me, and he was very active and made a bit of a mess, but everyone was so kind and understanding. That really made the meal even better for us. Overall, I'm giving Harborview Restaurant 5 stars great food, great service and a very family friendly atmosphere!!
If you’re planning a group dinner or special event in SF, Harborview is the spot. Super spacious indoor and outdoor seating with an amazing view. Came here for an Autumn Moon Festival creator dinner and we had an amazing experience! The space is beautiful (perfect for content), the staff were super accommodating, and the food was so good! We ordered everything from Singapore-style Chili Crab and Salted Egg Yolk Crab, Peking Duck, baked black cod, and a huge variety of dim sum. Don’t skip the BBQ pork buns with the sugar crust, they’re a must! And we also ordered a couple deserts, salted egg yolk lava bun, egg tart, and the black sesame mochi in almond soup. Bonus: they’ve got lots of cocktail options which makes it perfect for a fun celebration or night out with friends.
We decided to host our reception dinner here because of the convenient location, amazing food, and a nice view with ferry building as the background. We reserved half of the dinner area and the outdoor patio for the party at night. Tiffany was our event coordinator and she's amazing! She explained everything clearly and got back to us in a timely manner. Staffs at the dinner was very very patient throughout the whole event ~10pm. The service is #1. The manager of the bar even asked me to take a shot with him at the end. I was very surprised by the quality of the cocktail here. I loved the bartenders and they made the drinks super quick. The dessert table was a nice touch. I got no complains but tons of complements about the quality of the food. How fresh and how yummy they are.
This is a place where people come for tea every week. The environment is elegant, the food is delicious in color, aroma and taste, and the waiters are always smiling.

Good family spot for dim sum! Lots of variety and good ambience. Would highly recommend
Amazing food and service! The xiaolongbao is very tender and juicy and the service is great too. Would come again!
Nice atmosphere, good food and service. Food was good quality and the temperature was perfect . The wait staff was attentive and friendly .
The food is absolutely delicious and thanks so much for service I enjoyed the view on Port of San Francisco really lovely. \n\nRate: 9/10

We couldn't have picked a better restaurant for our stay in San Francisco. The food is super fresh and comes out hot, right away. The flavor is incredible. We ordered the kung pao chicken, ribs, …
Very busy restaurant that needs booking, while not cheap the food was delicious. Very comprehensive menu, we asked the waiter for advice on what to eat, and we’re not disappointed. Nor did he try…
The tofu skin goose was delicious, it has great texture and rich, savory flavor. Honestly, almost everything we ordered tasted really good. Solid spot for flavorful Chinese dishes. Would definitely come back.
I attended a private party during Happy Hour here last night. The staff was so friendly and helpful especially the bartender Eric. The food and drinks were amazing. The location is perfect!
We went to Harborview last night for my sister’s birthday and it was a really great experience from start to finish. When we walked in through the bar area, the bartender immediately greeted us and asked if we were there for dinner, then served us while we waited—a nice touch that set the tone for the evening. They set us up with one of the Lazy Susan tables, which is always fun (just ask my nephews!). The service was diligent—they showed up, got the job done, and got it done right. They worked as a team and a couple managed to sneak in some friendliness. You could tell they’re all on the same page. The structured approach makes sense though, because the food is incredible. And I mean incredible. I’m going out on a limb here, but Harborview has the best pork buns I’ve ever had in my life. The bread was freshly baked and remarkably light, really allowing the pork’s flavor to come through—such a departure from the thick, sticky buns you usually get. All of the dumplings were delicious, as were the duck and crab dishes. The sesame balls deserve special mention as another best-I’ve-ever-had moment. The pastry was light and crispy rather than the usual thick shell, letting you fully appreciate the gooey filling and all its flavors. I wish I’d taken pictures to capture it all. We took our time, ordered more as we went, and they let us just hang out all the way through dessert without any pressure. They even brought out a complimentary dessert with a candle for my sister’s birthday. We ended up staying two or three hours without even noticing the time pass. The only thing keeping this from being a five-star experience: The atmosphere could’ve been more polished, and a true view of the bay that matched the name would’ve gotten me there. Hot tip for anyone planning a birthday celebration or special event: Harborview is ideal when there’s an important game on (last night it was 49ers vs. Seahawks). You can start at the bar, slip away for dinner, and return to the bar afterward without disrupting the focus on your celebration or the person you’re honoring.
We visited Harborview Restaurant & Bar at the Embarcadero in San Francisco in Dec 2024, and it delivered a memorable upscale Cantonese dining experience with stunning views of the Bay Bridge and Ferry Building. Here's what we tried: * Steamed Chicken Feet with Black Bean: Tender and flavorful with the perfect seasoning, the best so far. A great start to the meal. * Deep-Fried Vegetable Spring Rolls: Crispy, light, and filled with fresh vegetables--a satisfying appetizer. * Kurobuta Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai Dumplings: Deliciously juicy and packed with flavor. These dumplings are a must-try! * Shrimp Har Gow Dumplings: Perfectly steamed with a delicate, translucent wrapper and juicy shrimp filling. * Chicken Fried Rice: Well-seasoned and fragrant, though it could have used a bit more chicken. This was a let down. * Congee with Sliced Beef: Comforting and bland with tender slices of beef that melted in our mouths. This was also a let down compared to other places that we have tried the same dish. * Dry Chili Sautéed Tiger Prawns: Bold, spicy, and absolutely delicious--the tiger prawns were perfectly cooked and packed a punch of flavor. * Pan-Fried Chicken Pot Stickers: Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside--exactly what you'd hope for in a pot sticker. * Beef Rice Flour Rolls & Shrimp Rice Flour Rolls: Both were silky and perfectly seasoned, with generous fillings. Ambiance: The restaurant has an elegant yet lively vibe, with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing beautiful views of the Embarcadero. However, it was quite loud when we visited. Service: The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dishes arrived promptly, though they had way too many tables to handle. It takes a while before someone can attend to you but you place the order and they have processed it, then it works like a charm. Overall: Harborview delivered a fantastic Cantonese dining experience with standout dishes like the siu mai dumplings, chili tiger prawns, and har gow. While the noise level can be a bit high during busy times, the food and views more than make up for it. Highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking authentic Cantonese cuisine in an upscale setting!
The restaurant is nestled at the bay with a good view if you sit outside at the terrace. The decor inside is exceptional along with pretty clean fish tanks. They offer a wide variety of dim sum and dishes and are pretty good. Our favorite is the roast pork belly (crispy skin and moist meat).
Visited this restaurant today for dim sum, and it was a solid experience. The food was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. The service was just okay—nothing exceptional, but it got the job done. The atmosphere was incredibly busy, with a packed restaurant and a lively crowd. A nice bonus was the unexpected $50 voucher for the next visit, which made the experience even better. Overall, a good spot for dim sum, but be prepared for the hustle and bustle!

Great dim sum and great views. The food came out fast and so fresh. We got bbq buns, sui mai, chicken feet
The food was very good . A very busy restaurant on a Friday night. The service was great no real complaints… lost a star due to grumpiness of the hostess… other than that solid choice.

I am local to SF and chose this restaurant as we had a group visiting. The service was not good and the food was marginal and expensive. And you get only a limited view.

We had lunch at Harborview on 02/21. Even though the food was good, our service experience was rather poor. 1. No one refilled our glasses 2. No one asked whether we’d like a drink 3. No one ever checked whether we needed anything On top of that, they automatically add 18% gratuities even for small groups such as our family of 3. I was not expecting this from a Michelin star restaurant. I will most likely not return here.
Food was delicious. Need to try their beef and that pork bun was the best pork bun I’ve ever had in my life. The ambience was so nice overlooking Embarcadero but the service was poor. Never checked on us. Thought we were waiting for the carts to come out but they don’t you have to order ahead of time. Would definitely come back again. But thankfully the food was amazing because that is what gave them the two extra stars. Service needs to improve drastically.
While the food was quite good, the terrible service completely ruined the experience. The staff was impatient, and we were met with stares for a simple request like asking for soy sauce. A restaurant's service should match the quality of its food, and this one fails completely in that regard. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We got a tried a mix of classic canto cuisine and westernized dishes like the beef and fish but it was honestly a really disappointing experience. Everything was way over seasoned and the beef had questionable sweet profiles. The fish was cooked wonderfully but the sauce did not go well with the fish.
My husband and I went to Harborview restaurant on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. We were sat down right away however we had to flag the server down several times to place our order. I ordered a spicy chicken and it tasted horrible. The Peking duck was not bad. I had to ask three times to different servers for hot sauce. The service was really bad. Won’t return.
It might be a dish I do not know about but please don't freak out by the dead fish and suspicious ecosystem growing in the water tank in the corridor to access the restaurant because the worst is yet to come. Firstly, the costumer service is below decent standards given that the waiters didn't understand the concept of being friendly or polite, there was also a waiter that seemed to have a cold and wanted to demosntrate it to all of us. The atmosphere was chaotic and loud. Lastly, the food was what we call "decent" some sauces are surpises because you can't really descifer what they contain and the fried food is near to tasteless.

Food was so bad. Worst Cantonese food I have ever had. Servers were not helpful and charged mandatory 18% service fee even at bar table. Really noisy on Friday night.
We were there twice for lunch & dinner . Food is fine but the service was terrible. We ordered some ding sum as well as desserts to eat there & to go for lunch. The to go items was come out right away then the dessert. We told them the entree has not even arrived and the hot dessert will get cold. Waiter and waitress didn’t really care. They automatically charged you 18% service fee so there’s no motivation for good service. For the dinner banquet , they did not even change the plate for a 10 courses wedding banquet. Service again was terrible for a Michelin recommended restaurant.
Can we get the 2 hours back we spent there? There was 8 of us and was charged the mandatory service charge. Please be sure to send me the check and W2 for doing the job of the waiter and wait staff. Really. I had the waitress come back to the table, had to waive her down to come over 5 times over the course of 2 hours to find out just where the dishes were ordered and at what time were they going to be served to the table. I had to flag down the other waitstaff to point out the few empty dishes and glasses that were collecting dust on the table and would they be kind enough to pick them up and off the table, several times. Not all dishes we order were served and when the bill came 2 entrees that were never delivered were on that bill. Nice try! Had to get the bill rewritten, the the waitress said she would get those entrees out asap. Are you kidding? 2 hours after we ordered them? Really? On the bright side we had $10 credit for parking validation, so thanks for that…. Folks, go to yank sing or some other place for dim sum. Service was absolutely awful here.
