The vegan menu has many options and are very tasty. I will definitely be back.
this place improved a lot, the dim sum is great (by SF standards) and affordable which is a rarity these days in the city. definitely Imperial became a hidden gem spot in the last reopening after the last bout of covid. i'm personally glad it's not so crowded and impossible to walk in and get a table on the weekends, but it's only matter of time...
Menny’s vegan dim sum is incredibly flavorful!
I heard this place is under new management as of a year or so ago, and it shows! We (4 adults 5 kids) came on a Saturday at 12:15pm. Only had a 5 minute wait as they cleared a table for us. I'm guessing it's not as busy since it's rated low, but with the new management you can see how much they've improved. They have a regular menu AND a vegan menu, which was awesome. All of the food was great, easily 4-4.5 stars. They basically had a vegan version of everything - dumplings, rice rolls, siu mai, even egg tarts! But the best was the service - all of our servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. They accidentally messed up an order and immediately took it back and replaced it. We will absolutely be back.
Imperial Garden’s vegan menu is awesome (and I’m not even vegan). Love this place.
Vegan options at location by Sassy foods!
Great dim sum restaurant in the area. They offer many dim sum favorites and also very heavy on seafood dishes. The service was was very tentative and pleasant even the hostess was very helpful on how to order. Definitely have to come back on the weekends to see how the menu change or the special dish they may offer
Big vegan menu, which is technically by Sassy Foods? Right now it exists as a menu printed on receipt paper. Good portion, no placeholder ingredients in the dumpling fillings. I love their siew mai, but I love the deep fried dumpling 咸水角 even more! They now have multi flavor egg tarts too! The only thing is the location is still a traditional Chinese seafood restaurant, and has those fish tanks of to be killed fish. Not the most welcoming setting for vegans.
We went in to try the vegan dim sum, and really want to return with a bigger group for the weekend brunch. It was all so good and the service was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to come back to try everything else on the menu!
I’ve been to Imperial Garden Seafood Restaurant for both weekend dim sum and weekday dinner and everything was DELICIOUS. Don’t hesitate and come get your Chinese food fix here :)
Have been coming here ever since I was a kid. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is great. Love that they now offer so many vegan options for dim sum. Wow!
The food was amazing and the people working there were very kind😍 also there is a free parking area for customers
Imagine a very cold, rainy winter day, you're heading home in the afternoon with no desire to cook, and you pass by this place and decide to stop in their parking lot next door and take a chance to see if you can still get a hearty meal. The service, even though it was almost closing time, was excellent, and the food didn't take long and was delicious. I even wanted to order another dish, but they informed me they were closing, so I took some to go to prepare at home. I will go back there again when I have more time to eat and try other dishes. Their attentiveness captivated me; it's a Chinese restaurant in a not very traditional or well-known location in the San Francisco community, although it's in an area with a predominantly Asian population.
The vegan dim sum menu is one of the biggest I’ve ever seen and absolutely delicious!! Best vegan xiao long bao I have ever had, as someone who grew up eating them but went vegan a few yrs ago it made me really happy. Ambiance and service was great too.
This restaurant has been around for a long time, and of course, it's changed owners several times. But the food is still very good, so I don't understand why business isn't better?
We came here specifically for the new vegan dim sum menu, and it was delicious! We ordered the Siu Mai (my favorite), sticky rice, vegan shrimp dumplings, wood ear mushroom salad, steamed BBQ pork rolls. There are more options than what is featured on this little menu. Very happy to have vegan dim sum. Highly recommend. (2024) Edit: Came here a second time! Extremely happy with vegan "beef" noodle roll, siu Mai, fried "chicken" and "fish" rice, turnip cake, coy sum garlic, and dumplings. Even non-vegans were so pleased. This food is AMAZING. (2025)
Imperial Garden SF & Sassy Foods catered our all-vegan wedding, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! Elaine, Menny, and their team truly went above and beyond. They made sure everything ran smoothly so we could focus on enjoying the day, which we're extremely grateful for! The food was SO GOOD - our guests couldn't stop raving about it, and everyone had different favorites, but a few standouts were the vegan xiao long bao, turnip cake, and fried glutinous dumplings (ham sui gok). Being from Hong Kong, it meant so much to me to be able to serve vegan dim sum to our family and friends, and show everyone that vegan food can be both authentic and delicious. Thank you, Elaine and Menny, for making our wedding day so special!
Great authentic dim sum! Service was okay, it was faster the first time I went and a bit slower the second time. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the food is super yummy! Definitely ask if there is meat in a dish if you are vegetarian because they don’t always list it on the menu!!! They have a vegan menu by the way!! A bit pricey but worth it for the experience.
I had my wedding here this past January and it was amazing! They were very accommodating to what my husband and I were looking for. Anytime we went in, one of the managers were ready to sit down and talk. I love their space! An entire floor where all my guests would be able to see the stage, plus an entire floor upstairs to change into my many different outfits. I had a few guests who cannot eat seafood and the restaurant were very accommodating and told me to choose the other dishes. I couldn't make up my mind and they chose for me. According to my brother, the non-seafood table had really good food, so I'm glad it worked out. The day of the wedding, my wedding people (Florist, Band, Decor, and lights) were able to set up with ease. After the wedding, I heard from my guests that this restaurant offered the best service they had ever gotten at any Chinese banquet wedding. Thank you Imperial for making our big day more beautiful!
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant!!! Great food and service. I love the mango piggies they have on weekends, the purple yam buns, and I especially love the salt and pepper pork. Great staff too. Good selection of vegan dishes. Lovely ambience, especially good vibes at lunch on the weekends.
This place was soooo delicious. Service was exceptional, they were very attentive and answered all our questions. The dining atmosphere is quite beautiful. We will be coming back again!!

They are somehow fused with Sassy Vegan, and the food was incredible!! Very authentic and delicious. Any vegan in San Francisco should come here!! Get the Sesame Buns - you will not regret it! Also: ask the waitress about what they'd recommend, she pointed us to some amazing options and it was a 10/10.
Love that they have a pretty extensive vegan menu for dim sum! Got the vegan siu mai, beef noodle roll, BBQ pork bun, chow fun with mushroom and gai lan, and salty fish and egg fried rice. They were all very delicious and really close to the real thing. Siu mai texture is a bit softer than normal, and the fried rice could have been saltier. Overall I'm really happy that there is such a great option for vegan dim sum that is delicious.
Such amazing food!!! My wife and I got the Beef Pan Fried Mixed Vegetable Noodles and Half a BBQ Roasted Duck and they were both excellent! Carol and John treated us so well and we even received a complimentary Red Bean Soup for dessert that was so surprisingly sweet for a bean soup!! It's a little bright in there but the lighting wasn't aggressive and the seating is in a beautiful space. Great date spot!
Every time I come to imperial Garden food is excellent and the service is awesome. They always are very nice and they offer free fried rice or wontons. If you post a review doesn’t matter if it’s bad review or good but they don’t have too many bad ones awesome food great places to stop by
Really amazing vegan options. I hope they don't take off the vegan menu due to lack of interest. Everything was so good even the siu mai. If youre vegan and/or vegetarian and looking for an authentic place, come here.
Dimsum like hagao, siumai, chicken feet (falls off the bone), steamed tofu skin wrapped, cha siu bao, sesame ball, stuffed eggplant or mushroom, everything comes out fresh and very tasty. Go early on the weekend.
Vegan & non vegan options all STUNNING, delicious, big portions! Beautiful, simultaneously grand and cozy interior- or take your food to go and enjoy in the community garden (the green between) around the corner if you happen to stop by during the garden hours (fri-sun 8am-3pm)

Surprisingly good for dinner. I live near this restaurant and have never eaten there until recently. Reasonable price and large portions for the family style dinner offerings.
Authentic dim sum with traditional dishes, solid place for morning tea
Decent average dim sum restaurant if one lives in the neighborhood and doesn’t want to drive out to Chinatown or Milbrae. It is convenient for locals. There is a small parking lot but one can find parking on the streets a couple blocks away.

Nice clean. Reasonable price. We came for lunch - had the crispy fried noodles and the fried rice. Loved it and a couple of days later came back for the peking duck set. Portions were large and we will definitely come back again for the next trip.

Average dim sum restaurant to be honest. As my favorite dim sum is Siu Mai, I’ve been trying it at different restaurants over the world. If the Siu Mai is good, it would be a good restaurant more and less. The Siu Mai here cost usd7.90 before tax not cheap, it was very disappointed the taste was just liked $3.50 Dim Sum in Chinatown. Chicken feet were tasty but the size was smaller than other restaurants. Spacious, service was friendly. I might be come back again but definitely would not order their Siu Mai again.

Came on Mother's day. With it being a holiday I understand most restaurants will be busy and pack so I expected some extra wait time. However, after placing our order we did wait for about a hour and half before leaving because none of our dishes arrived including the soup. While some tables around us did get a dish or two of what they ordered. I'm assuming they were overwhelmed due to not having enough staff. I've been here before and the food was not bad, but after this experience I'm a little hesitant to come again
Vegans beware! They have vegan items on the menu, but they aren't careful about it. The waiter brought out some buns and said, "These are the vegan ones... wait, no, they aren't!" I almost took a bite of straight pork. After that, I wasn't going to eat anything. Sat there for 40 minutes while my party ate their food. Nope.
I would give zero stars if I could. It was a group of 12 of us yesterday and we ordered about $300-$400 worth of food. Food was average not bad. I’m originally from NYC so I’ve had authentic Chinese food and I’d definitely say some of the dishes we ordered tasted like take out food. They charged every little things. They claimed we ordered more bowls of rice but we didn’t not so they did not want to adjust the bill at all. Only good thing about the restaurant is that there is free parking.
Very poor customer service. They are very short staffed, we waited for almost 30 minutes to try to place a take out order. The hostess, kept on ignoring us and sat other guests who came after us. We felt like they did not want our business, very disappointing. My family and I have came here many years, pre-pandemic. The food is generally above average and the prices are on the higher side. We live nearby and prefer to support local business, instead of driving to Daly City or the Peninsula for our dim sum fix. They need to step if their game before we can support them again.
Do not come here this place gave me food poisoning and charged me 60 bucks for it! This place has no morals at all. Served some cold stir-fried broccoli that gave me food poisoning. Had to spend the night in the ER throwing up the whole night. Worst yet there prices are a ripoff and are not the same as the menu and they try to charge set amount of tips without even asking. Do not come here beware!
