Opinions de Juniper San Francisco
Juniper was so good! We only had the choux and coffee pairing, which was simple but spectacular. The manager or owner offered everyone a peach danish with Straus ice cream on top, just to thank us for coming on such a hot day. The Danish was delicious! Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Good atmosphere overall and nice seating area.
진짜 맛있움 라즈베리크로아상이랑 흑임자 퀸아망이 미챴어요 왕친절함 EVERYTHING THEY HAD WAS SO GOOD😭 Tried the raspberry croissant, black sesame quin amant, all three kinds of choux, and orange cinammon sticky bun and they were all so good can't tell which one is the best but if I had to choose just one ( actually two)I'd go for the raspberry croissant & the black sesame quin amant but honestly I'd rather get everything lol + staffs are super friendly!!!!!!!!
I have been to at least 10+ bakeries in SF. This is by far my favorite crossiant place. Yes, they sell other things. I actually got a strawberries and cream choux as well. I don't even like choux. This was so good! I also got the elote danish. Parking is difficult. I was walking with a friend from portero hill. The place isn't large so all the seats will fill up. I like this place better than arsicault, which was my previous favorite. Everything is also in stock when you come. I came later in the afternoon and there were still plenty of trays of everything in the store. High recommend!!
This is the best bakery in San Francisco! The croissants are incredible and I LOVE their black sesame croissant loaf!! The cream puffs are next level, and have the most fun flavors—they make such a cute gift!
A lovely shop! I stopped here as I was staying at the Holiday Inn just around the block and it was so worth it! The staff were so kind and patient with me as I scoured the treats trying to narrow down just one I wanted, and I ended up settling on two anyways! I got the chocolate croissant which was out of this world! Delicious, flakey, and the best croissant I’ve ever had. I also got a muffin which was just as good, and a latte that was very refreshing! This spot made my morning so great and I would totally recommend stopping by!
A chill destination and or neighborhood spot. Airly space on the corner of Polk and Pine. Good selection of craft baked goods and other goodies. Full coffee service and tea. Friendly accommodating staff. Contemporary indie music fills the room. Clean and modern. Tables and a counter line the side. Almond raspberry croissant had soft interior bursting with raspberry puree and a crunchy hard crust. A well maintained bathroom conveniently next to the dining area.
Let me just say Juniper seriously gets it right. I popped in on a sunny morning and ordered the avocado toast, and I’m still thinking about it. This wasn’t your basic avo toast situation—it was layered with flavor, texture, and care. Creamy avocado spread thick on perfectly toasted bread (crisp on the edges, soft in the middle), topped with fresh herbs, and just the right touch of citrus. Every bite was magic. The space itself is warm and inviting, and you can tell the team takes pride in what they’re doing. Everything felt intentional. I didn’t expect to be blown away by avocado toast of all things, but here we are. It’s that good. If you’re in San Francisco, do yourself a favor and stop by. Juniper’s the real deal.
One of my mildly guilty pleasures is wandering around SF hunting down great croissants—and Juniper totally gets me 😍 A coffee shop near me stocks their pastries, and after one too many flaky encounters, I had to go straight to the source. Worth it. Buttery, flaky, so good. Their chocolate 🥐? My Sunday morning off late. The choux? Not plagued by sugar and looks so sweet.
I’m a pastry chef and part time foodie. I love trying new bakeries. Juniper is underrated under known if that is a word. lol. This place got the best croissant in San Francisco. You can smell their flour and butter is different and how they use quality ingredients. If you ever wanna know if a bakery is good just try their plain croissant. It will tell ya~ please go try the best in the city!
I visited Juniper on a Saturday at around 10:40 AM. The line went out the door but it moved fairly quickly (we had our food in about 15 min). We tried the choux buns (pina colada, hazelnut florentine, and juniper lemon), raspberry almond croissant, yuzu macadamia cookie, elote danish, black sesame kouign amann, traditional croissant, Cubano croissant, PB&J blondie, and orange vanilla pandan latte. The choux buns were excellent - they were small which was perfect for sampling and they were crisp despite being filled. The hazelnut florentine was my least favorite of the flavors we tried - it didn't taste very strongly of chocolate or hazelnut. The yuzu macadamia nut cookie is a great spin on the classic white chocolate macadamia nut cookie - would definitely recommend it. The PB&J blondie was OK - it's gluten free so it has a bit of a gummy texture. All of the pastries were wonderful. My least favorite pastries are the black sesame kouign amann and elote danish. I thought the black sesame kouign amann was really well caramelized and flakey but that black sesame flavor was lacking. I wasn't a huge fan of the elote danish just because I don't really like elote (nothing wrong with the actual pastry). However the traditional croissant, Cubano, and raspberry almond croissants were amazing! I would come back to Juniper to get the Cubano and raspberry almond croissant. I was really excited to try orange vanilla pandan latte but time honest, it just tasted like a slightly sweet latte. Not bad but I thought it was going to have more flavor. Overall, I would highly recommend a stop at Juniper for baked goods - particularly the raspberry almond croissant, Cubano croissant, and yuzu macadamia nut cookie. The staff was very friendly, there is a decent amount of seating inside the bakery, and they have a restroom!
The orange pandan vanilla latte is delicious—-not overly sweet, and the flavor reminds me of those chocolate oranges you get during Christmas. The croissants are a bit too buttery on the ends upon the initial bite, but very flaky and delicate outer layer which contributes to an overall satisfying texture. The Yuzu macadamia cookie was a favorite as well. Would come back to try more pastry items!
This delightful coffee and pastry shop offers a charming experience under one roof. I particularly appreciate that the pastries are made fresh in-store. Although it was quite busy when we arrived, with a line forming, it moved swiftly. The selection of pastries is extensive, featuring unique options like kimchi croissants. Seating is limited, so keep that in mind. Parking could be a challenge too. If you're just in the mood for coffee, you can bypass the pastry line and head straight to the coffee section. Simply let them know you're only ordering coffee. We tried the latte, cortado, and matcha, all of which were excellent. Additionally, we sampled a variety of croissants and cookies, each one delicious. The service was prompt, and the prices were reasonable. This could easily become my go-to coffee shop whenever I'm in town.
OMG thier croissants are world best! 💯💯💯 Cubano croissant, which has pork in it, seems very unfamiliar to me, but the taste was amazing 👏👏👏 They say that their croissants are award winners 🏆 oh yes, if I could give an award to them, I would like to award them a biiig prize! The only cons are they only have a couple of tiny tables which don't have much space in between, and there is always a long queue.
This is one of my son's favorite spots and I see why😊. During my visit he treated me with a visit to Juniper Cafe. It's a must-visit, especially if you're a pastry lover! They earned their title of "best croissant in 2024" for a reason. The Traditional Croissant is absolute perfection—light, airy, with a beautiful crunch and that ideal buttery taste. Seriously delish😋. Beyond the classic, don't miss out on their unique creations, like the rich Black Sesame Kouign Amann, and the sweet and satisfying Chocolate and Banana Croissant. The Juniper Lemon Choux is a bright, delightful finish, and for a savory start, the breakfast sandwich is a winner with genuinely fresh ingredients. Pair it all with the refreshing Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte or a Latte for a perfect morning! The staff is polite and attentive, clean facility, but limited seating. Love it! 💜 I can't wait to come back! 👍👍
Lovely place! Delicious French pastries — especially the croissants, fresh and perfectly made. My oat latte was a bit on the bitter side, maybe slightly over-roasted, but still good. The vibe is great — cozy, calm, and clean. It’s a nice spot to work or relax, though I found it a bit dark inside. Staff are friendly, but seemed quite busy chatting with each other — I almost missed when my coffee was ready. Not a big issue, just something to improve. Love that you can see the baking process — adds to the charm. Overall, definitely recommend!
CROISSANTS REVIEW ONLY: croissants are living up to the hype! Very fluffy and buttery! However they were on the sweeter side (compared with other award winning croissant stores) so I feel they "cheated" a bit with the extra sugar.
This place exceeded expectations. I loved the tomato tart for a savory breakfast. The black sesame kouign-aman also extremely good. Vibe inside is great with high ceilings and big windows. Feels fresh as everything is made in front of you. No long line. Decent coffee and nice baristas.
I visited Juniper on a Saturday morning. The interior was packed, but the line moved quickly (5-10 min from the front door to the counter). The staff was friendly and efficient. The croissants were good enough for me to think of them two weeks later and feel compelled to write this review. My favorites were the cubano and the pain au chocolat, but all of them are worth trying.
Every sf local knows juniper and for good reason! They’ve gotten an award for their croissants so I had to go and check it out for myself. I got there around 11:30 on a weekend and was luckily able to order without a line. I got their ham and cheese croissant and it was phenomenal! Their croissant is super flakey and perfectly buttery, in a way that doesn’t make you feel heavy after eating it. The staff was kind enough to warm my croissant up, so the cheese was gooey and paired so well with the ham, a perfect savory treat in my opinion. Their options are quite diverse so you can enjoy sweet and savory and they also serve breakfast as well. Would def come back to also try some of their drinks they offer!
Breakfast was incredible, every single bite of everything we ordered was amazing. You can really taste the quality. I’ve tried ordering over medium eggs at so many places and they always come overcooked:( but here they were perfect!! 1000/10
Love juniper!!! Amazing unique pastries. You can taste the care put into each one.
One of the best croissants I've ever had. Flaky outside and pillowy inside with amazing brown butter bites both in aroma and taste. Exactly what I look for in a good croissant!
Been in SF for 8 days and came to have breakfast on my first morning. Best decision I’ve had. End up coming to have breakfast 5 times during these 8 days. Everything is simply delicious, staff is adorable and the place is super nice
Amazing croissant based pastries and muffins. Easy to understand why they win awards. Queues on Sunday morning attest to quality. We went back for the next 2 days in SF.
Great: - Friendly staff - Smell of pastries - Lots of seating Questionable - Homeless dude walking in to have a sip of someone’s leftovers - Dirty tables - Seats are very close together - Cold & okay cream puffs - Sweet latte was indeed not sweet The guy next to be inhaled his croissant sandwich in 5 min (understated) so that’s probably the way to go
Really delicious raspberry almond croissant. Perfectly flaky, sweet and sharp jam and a crisp cookie frangipane. Can’t wait to return to try more. Seating is somewhat limited and it is not the best for parents with strollers.
This quickly became our favourite bakery in SF. Some of the BEST pastries we have ever had! The morning bun was by far our favourite! We ended up coming back for a second time the same day to enjoy the amazing treats.

Ahhh. Delicious, wonderful pastries. The egg wash is strong and makes them extra crunchy. I had the pain au chocolat and loved the high quality dark chocolate.

I came shortly after 3pm on a Friday but to my surprise as soon as the staff heard that I was visiting from Toronto, they gladly gifted me some croissants, choux, and a muffin. It made my day!

juniper serves inventive pastries/drinks with great technique. skip the lattes but try all the pastries. overall, there’s a reason there’s a line out the door on the weekends and juniper easily belongs in the top 10 sf bakeries, but personally doesn’t crack top 5 for me. black sesame kouign amann: just the right amount of black sesame and still heavily focused on the base of the pastry. loved it. cubano croissant: started off decent but when i got to the center filling with the juicy shredded pork, i was amazed. might be the best savory croissant i’ve had. raspberry almond croissant: too tart, wasn’t a fan
Overall I enjoyed all my visits here. The coffee based beverages selection is extensive with the lattes, cappuccinos, etc. being prepared nicely. The pastries and baked goods were always fresh and enjoyable as well. It can be very crowded at certain times of the day so you can expect lines and wait times. However, the staff are usually pretty efficient.
Been hearing about this place for a while so I was excited to try it! There was a small line when we came but we got in pretty quickly. We ordered a plain croissant and a chocolate croissant. The plain was pretty good! I did feel it was extra buttery compared to some other croissants I’ve had. But it was still delicious! I wasn’t as big a fan of the chocolate croissant. The chocolate felt a bit more bitter to me so I didn’t enjoy it as much. Still a flaky croissant though! I would like to come back and try another savory croissant next.
I visit Juniper almost every week. The staff members are all so kind! The coffee and pastries are to die for. My only issue is that some folks set up early in the morning with their laptops and use a table that would normally seat two. It’s incredibly rude and entitled. There’s often no place to sit. I adore the cafe but wish there could be some limit on using the space for work. Maybe have no-WiFi days or something. Love Juniper!
Bakery: 10/10. Coffee 2/10. Strange to me that being a Saint Frank outpost that the coffee is so mediocre. They have the beans, the milk, the machine, but you can order 5 flat whites 5 different times and get completely different quality drinks every time. Actually threw mine out this morning. The (whole)milk was absolutely murdered and it tasted like an ash tray. The croissants are 🔥 though.
the kimchi bacon danish was pretty good although i couldn’t really distinguish any bacon pieces. the bacon flavor was there but i was expecting crispy bacon pieces throughout along with the kimchi. i also tried the cubano croissant and i found the mojo pork to be a bit dry. the raspberry almond croissant was pretty good as well. loved the apple horchata. overall, i would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting or craving pastries. hoping to try the black sesame kouignamann next time!
I visited San Francisco for the weekend and decided to stop by Juniper Bakery today. I ordered an iced pumpkin latte, a ham and cheese croissant, and a banana chocolate muffin. Everything was tasty, and the croissant was definitely my favorite. I do wish the food had been a little warmer, but I didn’t ask to have it warmed up, so they may do so upon request. The coffee didn’t disappoint, and the staff were friendly with a welcoming atmosphere.
As I stood in line eying the $7.75 mushroom Danish, a homeless person was asking around for $1. SF makes me sad sometimes. I tend to get skeptical at popular bakeries, especially after visiting France where good bakeries are common and equitable, but Juniper is worth a visit if you're in the area. I first heard about it for its award-winning croissant. The croissants are expensive but solid ($5 for pain, over $7 for the fancy ones), and they have some fun creations like black sesame kouign aman (looks like a morning bun but tastes like a kouign aman), raspberry macadamia cookie ($4.50 each but it's such a perfect cookie), and the cinnamon orange sticky bun (zesty citrus goodness). They are also popular for their bite-sized choux pastry puffs, which come in interesting rotating flavors but are a bit small for what it's worth. Staff are friendly, the space is nice with tables and counter seating for a vibey breakfast, and the line moves at a reasonable pace. It's paid street parking and can take a bit of circling to find a spot, but not impossible.

I was trying Juniper for first time on a friends glowing recommendation. I ordered 3 drinks with oat milk. All 3 drinks came with regular milk. 2/3 drinks were cold. The hot drink was not what I ordered. I ordered 3 croissants and because it was in a box to go, we didn’t find out til we were driving that we were given a plain croissant instead of a Cubano croissant. Now everything tasted fine. It was just the mix up in service that I’m disappointed with.
Black sesame Kouign-Amann was very good....4.0 stars. Plain croissant.......3.5 Raspberry croissant was very flaky, good amount of raspberry filling, topped with almonds 4.5.. Morning bun was a little on the dry side and the flavor was okay with that little bit taste of citrus ......3.5. Price is a little on the higher side, but it is S.F.
