Opinions de Lavash San Francisco
I have come here for dinner before (I forgot to review), but this is a review about how delicious their pistacio ice cream is! We were seated on a weekday afternoon in their "garden" seat and just ordered their pistacio ice cream, which has about 3 scoops. Their outdoor garden seating was so cute, it would definitely be a good spot for wrapping up a date.
It’s by far one of our favorite restaurants in the city and in California! Family owned, warm atmosphere, and friendly staff delivering amazing Persian food. We have been to many restaurants and have experienced really great Persian cruises and I have to stay Lavash is on the top of our list, even internationally! Highly recommend!
Lavash reopened recently after being shuttered for two years due to fire. It was well worth the wait. We had the Lavash Special combo for two and eggplant spread on New Year's Eve. The Persian cuisine was excellent and portions plenty. Hosts were attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back to enjoy their other offerings.
We just arrived from Dublin-Ireland to attend the Irish movie festival here in SF, long haul and carving Persian rice while trying to adjust to the jet lag. We tried to call to reserve a table but the call was not going through so we decided to drive there anyway, thinking how busy can a Persian restaurant be… boy we were wrong! The owner was a lovely lady who tried her best and managed to give us a table on the lovely patio outside. The food, the service and the atmosphere just did our day! I Highly recommend this place!
We had a great time here, the food was fantastic my kids and I loved it!
One of my favorite restaurants in SF. Lovely family-owned restaurant and they clearly put a lot of love into this restaurant. It's beautiful and the outdoor space was very cozy with the heat lamps and decor. Really warm service. Their lavash salad is my favorite salad of all time - lime, apple, walnut, mint - so fresh and divine. Their dessert with saffron ice cream and faloodeh is one of my favorite restaurant desserts of all time too. Rose and lime leaving you with a feeling that you are living la vie en rose, at least for that meal and for that evening. Brought parents here for their first time trying Persian food and they fell in love with it. Healthy yet fancy and comforting at the same time.
got the darya platter for two: skewers of salmon, shrimp and two salads. very tasty and flavorful! also, a wonderful elegant ambiance and yet very laid back and friendly. the mint tea is wonderful too, with all those fresh mint leaves. will definitely be going back for more. the appetizers are just ok but the salads and entrees are simply spectacular! generous portions too. the check came to $46 per person including a big tip.
This cute Persian restaurant has good service and great vibes. The food selection is extensive. I would love to see some impossible/beyond meat options for stews and kebabs. I really enjoyed their fish and sabzi polo, although the fish preparation could be tweaked a bit, especially for Nowruz. Their Fesenjoon was a bit too sweet for my taste. The Gheymeh bademjoon was tasty, but its presentation could be improved. The Ghormeh sabzi was also good but a bit watery. This is why I gave 4 stars. The food is very good overall but could be enhanced in authenticity and presentation. My least favorite aspect is the noise and vibrations from the nearby Muni. I still highly recommend this place for a great 4-star Persian dining experience and plan to return.
The best Persian restaurant in SF ! I’ve been to many different ones that are supposed to be decent, however, none is better than this place. I usually order lavash special and fesenjan and they are out of world . The mean is so tender, juice with lots of flavors they marinate. Rice is buttery with full of saffron flavor . I probably come here every month and the quality of foods is always consistent. Highly highly recommend this place if you want to try Persian foods !
Amazing persian restaurant. We stopped by here after a long day visiting the Golden Gate Park. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor sitting. There are many beautiful plants and flowers around the restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly. Try the Ghormrsabzi with tadig. The pomegranate ice cream with dark chocolate chips were absolutely amazing.
I've had lunch here and bragged to my husband so much that he used Lavash to cater a surprise party for me with 60 people at Temple Bar's party room. Food and setup were awesome and friends and family LOVED the food! Ample portions- which you don't always get -was so appreciated1
I have had the pleasure of dining at Lavash on two separate occasions, and I must admit that this Persian restaurant in San Francisco's Sunset neighborhood continues to leave an indelible mark on my palate. Lavash is not just a dining destination; it is a culinary gem that is unquestionably worth the drive from outside the city. The food at Lavash is nothing short of phenomenal. On each visit, I have explored different aspects of their menu, and I cannot recommend certain dishes enough. The Sabzi Platter is a splendid introduction to the vibrant and diverse flavors of Persian cuisine. Lavash bread, fresh herbs, tomatoes, cucumber, walnuts, grapes, and delectable feta cheese create a harmonious medley of tastes and textures that are simply irresistible. The Shiraz Salad is another standout dish, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients. Crisp vegetables, fragrant herbs, and a zesty dressing come together in a perfect symphony of flavors that refresh the palate. One of the highlights of Lavash's menu is undoubtedly the Lavash Special. This dish is a true celebration of Persian culinary expertise. The tender and succulent meats, perfectly seasoned and charred to perfection, are paired with fluffy saffron-infused rice and grilled vegetables. It's a culinary journey that every food enthusiast should embark upon. Lastly, the Makhloot, a delightful Persian dessert, is the perfect sweet ending to a remarkable meal at Lavash. It is half Faloodeh and half Bastani - its combination of pistachios, saffron, and rosewater, creates a dessert that is both exotic and comforting. Definitely a must-try with cherry juice and/or lime juice, which they serve on the side. (I even joked with the owners if I could buy a whole gallon of Bastani and have it in the comfort of my home. It's that good!!!) In addition to the exceptional food, Lavash boasts a warm and inviting ambiance that complements the overall dining experience. The attentive and knowledgeable staff adds a touch of hospitality that makes each visit memorable. Lavash has earned its place as a true treasure in the Sunset neighborhood.
High quality and authentic Persian food with one of the prettiest outdoor seatings possible. I've ordered a lot of different dishes here (and I forgot to take pictures of in the past) but the Barg and Koobideh (shown) are my favorite. They also provide appetizers with flat bread+cheese (also shown). Easily my favorite Persian place in SF.
Loved the food, the presentation and our very friendly and attentive waiter. Lavash is very popular so the noise levels are significant. It was less noisy after 8/8:30 when the earlier diners had cleared out. We enjoyed an eggplant appetizer (Kashk-e Bademjan), the Shiraz salad, and the koobideh and joojeh kebabs. Portions were huge and we took boxes home to enjoy lunch the day after. Public parking was free and easy at a lot around the corner on 7th Ave
Lavash has some of the best Persian food I have tried anywhere in the United States. The name is shared with a thin Persian bread and that theme is shown on the food with the lavash bread being served with feta cheese and vegetables as well as with the kabobs and rice. The interior is warm and inviting and the koobideh is cooked to perfection. Be sure to have the ash e reshteh soup on a cold day.
Amazing food and good service (no dine-in yet). Highly recommend it, if your want to taste some good Persian food in San Francisco area. We stopped by for lunch and tried their Koobideh (minced beef kabab). Koobideh had a nice char on outside but yet were juicy inside. We liked it so we took home their Lavash Special (lamb, chicken, Koobideh combo) for dinner. Their lamb chops were absolutely perfect for our taste (nice char outside and tender juicy inside). Chicken pieces were flavorful, but because they were breast meat, I thought they were a little dry. The chicken thigh meat pieces would have been more flavorful, I think. The fresh herbs mix (including tarragon) provided on the side complemented well with the dish. Lavash bread was soft and rice was flavorful. We will definitely be visiting this place whenever we are in the UCSF/Golden Gate Park area. Updated 17 Mar 2023 with pictures from our recent visit.
This is my second time writing a review about this restaurant (unfortunately I had to delete my last comments in order to write this one) great restaurant. The owner whom I’d like to call Nazzy (short for Nazila), is so dedicated to her business that years of experience, have made her a problem solver, strong with amazing skills. How do I know? I just feel and see it in her face. They we’re kind enough to accommodate us even though we had no reservations. Her son is so attentive and quick. We noticed the fall foliage in those beautiful large vases had changed to beautiful spring blooms which cheered up the entire restaurant. All the servers were so responsive and the food as always was superb. This is perhaps the best Persian restaurant in San Francisco area. A must on everyone’s list.
Highly recommended! The lovely waiters, delicious foods and the nice environment made my night. The waiters were handsome, polite, fast and well experienced. The quality of the food was great and we enjoyed from the delicious meals, specially Baghali Polo which had a unique taste. The presentation was good enough for a 5 stars. The environment was so lovely and it provides a nice atmosphere for spending your time. I will go there again if I have the chances to visit SF more. Also don’t forget to try Persian tea at the end :).
“We had our post-wedding dinner organization in Lavash and everything was perfect. The tables were prepared with great care; the attention they attach to detail is really admirable. Everything from apetizers to main food to desserts was perfect. They also decorated our cake very well, which made us very happy. I love Lavash and thank them for making this experience unforgettable.”
Lavash in San Francisco truly impressed us! The kabob barg was absolutely phenomenal — tender, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. It’s easily one of the best I’ve had outside of Iran. The ghormeh sabzi also stood out; it had that comforting, homemade taste that immediately reminded me of traditional family cooking. A special thank you to Mr. Rostam, who took care of our table. He was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made our experience even more enjoyable.
Possibly the best Persian restaurant in Northern California (Shalizaar is a close 2nd). Service is pleasant (something usually lacking in Persian restaurants for unknown reasons), food is pretty good with decent portions, and the ambiance is lovely. We tried the signature Soltani, barg and rice were great while koobideh was medium good. Mast moosir was excellent and the house doogh (yogurt drink) was well presented as well as delicious. Parking is a bit tricky but doable. Probably a good idea to call ahead and ask for a table if you're going with a big group.
Lavash has the best home made quality food in San Francisco! The food is really delicious and the service and ambience is always excellent. I am so grateful to have this beautiful Persian restaurant in the city I live !!
I’ve been coming to lavash for years, by far my favorite Persian restaurant. The service is amazing and I leave feeling uplifted everytime. Fresh ingredients and authentic dishes. Highly recommend to anyone visiting San Francisco
I have nothing but praise for this place. Great food and given the space constraints they are always accommodating and the entire staff is nice. Portions are appropriate and the food tastes great. It’s a family run business with family recipes from the old country. 5 stars in every category.
We had a reunion with nine friends and the whole experience was five stars. The food was delicious and the service was hyper attentive. Our server was awesome, she helped us pick the right dishes, the best drinks, just the appetizers we needed, and she made sure that we were well taken care of all the time we were there. And we were sitting in one of the outside booths while it was pouring in SF! Food wise, my favorite was the mixed chicken breast and beef kebob, so tasty and cooked to perfection! Will come back 100% sure!
Our visit here was truly enjoyable from the moment we walked in. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of great flavor. The staff treated us with genuine kindness and professionalism, which made us feel very welcome. What really stood out was the atmosphere. The music selection, the decor, and the overall flow of the evening created such a relaxed and inviting setting. Everything felt seamless and carefully put together. A wonderful dining experience all around.
I had an absolutely amazing experience in Lavash. Maybe the only persian place I could find which was vegetarian friendly. The staff were very friendly and helped through my journey with persian cuisine I highly suggest it for vegetarians who wanna experience these tastes are generally gated. The doug was amazing, I’ve been told it is not everyone but it was for me. Tahdig was unique and polo was hearty. Word of caution, the portions are quite huge and the polo caught off guard. Overall a 10/10 experience and I will be back
I had a fantastic meal at Lavash! The Shishlik (lamb chops) was absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. If you are looking for great Persian food in San Francisco, I highly recommend this spot.
Lavash is one of my new favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The owners greeted us warmly at the door, the service was professional and friendly and the food was beautifully presented and delicious! This restaurant is very special and highly recommended.
Here’s a polished, enthusiastic review you can use: --- **⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5** I had an absolutely wonderful experience at **Lavesh**, the Persian restaurant in SF! The food was truly outstanding — every dish was rich with flavor, beautifully seasoned, and clearly made with care. I especially loved sitting inside the shop; the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and perfect for enjoying a great meal. The service was also impressive. Everything was prompt, friendly, and attentive without ever feeling rushed. Overall, Lavesh delivered an exceptional dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back — highly recommended!
I'm a big fan of Iranian food before coming here, but I brought a nonbeliever and she really loved it! The service was super friendly and welcoming. We got a kabob combination to share and every bite was delicious. Washing it all down with a Persian tea tied the meal together. Excited to turn other people onto this place.
My favorite Persian spot in the Bay! I've only ordered takeout so I can't review the table service but the food is so good here! The rice and the protein are always cooked to perfection. I can't say enough good things about how flavorful the food is. I can't believe how well the food travels too because it's still so delicious after sitting on the drive home.
This is almost as good as it gets. I was supposed with the panir-sabzi appetizer on the house, which was so damn good. Ordered the Zeresh Polo and chicken/beef combo. Both were really good. Atmosphere is unique for a Persian restaurant and you’d be enjoying your time at Lavash. Tahdig was the only dish that disappointed. Prices were OK for SF
I recently had the pleasure of dining at an Iranian gem in San Francisco that left my taste buds singing with delight. This hidden culinary treasure boasts an impressive array of delectable dishes that elevate Persian cuisine to a whole new level. From succulent kebabs to flavorful stews, each plate was a symphony of authentic flavors, prepared with evident skill and passion. The ambiance of the restaurant transported me to the heart of Iran, with its charming décor and inviting setting. The warm lighting and traditional accents created an enchanting atmosphere that perfectly complemented the exquisite cuisine. However, I must admit that the experience was slightly marred by the lackluster customer service. The waitstaff, unfortunately, seemed disengaged and inattentive, which was disappointing given the overall exceptional quality of the establishment. While the food and ambiance were unparalleled, the subpar service left a noticeable gap in an otherwise outstanding dining experience. Despite this shortcoming, the restaurant's culinary prowess and captivating ambiance make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary taste of Iran in the heart of San Francisco.
Good food, good service, nice vibes, a bit pricey $$$. Came with 6 with a reservation for 6 pm on a Saturday night. We were seated outdoors. It was a bit windy so we would have preferred indoor seating. Unfortunately we weren't given an option. For apps, we had the eggplant dish. The dish was mediocre. I wouldn't order again. For entrees,The lavish special and Persian special were plenty for 5 people. We even had enough leftover for a sixth. The beef and chicken kebabs were solid options. Lamb was well done but small size. The beef and lamb kebab mix was a surprise hit. Thess type of kebabs are easy to dry out but the chef managed to keep the meat tender. The service was solid and the staff was really nice. The only minus was the lackluster mint tea. For other similar restaurants they have premade tea. Here they give you a small pot filled with mint leaves and a few sides and you have to make the mint tea yourself.
TLDR: 3.5 stars amazing service but flavors were a bit lacking for me We came in around 5:15 without a reservation and were seated with an ask to have the table ready for a 6:30 reservation. Our server was pleasant and welcoming, gave us a sample of the house drink to try in case we didn’t want a full glass. The presentation of the teas were very nice as well with rock candy to sweeten the tea. The salad dressing in the lavash salad was too salty and the lamb chops were cooked to the perfect temperature but the seasoning lacked a bit of flavor (the gaminess of the lamb was taken out in a way that eliminated the overall flavor). In this case, I rounded up to a 4 because of the amazing service but the flavor of the food was a bit one note
My experience starts strong, from the beautiful flower arrangements that elevate the atmosphere to the fantastic, well-designed menu and website. They set a high bar before you even take a bite. Despite following the website's policy (calling for same-day reservations), the initial interaction was jarring: a strict time limit was imposed before seating, making the start of the meal feel unwelcome and rushed. The staff should be better equipped to provide menu suggestions to guests. The service needs refinement to match the cuisine. Lavash has the quality kitchen and aesthetics of a top-tier restaurant.
Doesn’t feel like authentic Persian place since the crew are all non-Persian and even the design has nothing to do with Persian tradition but a painting of Manghal with Kabab’s grilled on top of it. Barg was really good if you add a bit of salt (8.5/10) Koobideh was 7/10 since the proportion of beef was more than it should’ve been.
Ambiance: The place has a lovely patio and a cozy, welcoming interior, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Service: Incredibly friendly staff with amazing service that made the experience feel warm and inviting. Food: The Fesenjoon was absolutely outstanding — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Baghali Polo was good, though I wish the sauce had a more full-bodied consistency. Overall, a wonderful Persian dining experience.
I really enjoy this place — have been twice. we got a spot without a reservation during prime time. Ambiance is nice with a fireplace and fancy table cloths. Good wine, reasonable prices. We enjoyed the Persian dinner for 2 — the chicken was very good! Also enjoyed the eggplant appetizer and meat.
MAKE RESERVATIONS. Always saw this place busy and tried walking in for an early dinner when there were few customers... Couldn't even get a table, but they were kind enough to arrange a spot in the outdoor area. Food wise, tasted amazing! Never had Persian food before, so I don't have a good comparison, but the dishes were flavorful, meet very tender and the eggplant was divine! It's on the pricy side, but definitely worth a try!
On june10th, we had a dinner at this place. I couldn.t reserve a table that was my mistake. But when we came in at 5pm they were empty. Hostess said all table reserved so we sat right next to door and front of staffs corner. We spent just one hour and only 3 tables filled when we were there. Like they reserve tables for the ghosts, i guess. Food was fine, we liked it. Main problem was staffs. All the waiters and waitresses were stand right behind us talking so loud, making jokes and laughing so loud like they dont care our experience. Even we couldn.t hear any music, i dont know maybe they dont play music inside or they were too loud like i cannot hear that music. After food served on table their chit chat was still loud and soooo unconfortable to dine. We tried to leave asap so i requested a bill and to go boxes. Right after brought boxes waiter started a clean the table even we were still sitting there. If he gave our bill first we can leave and he can clean up after us. Super disrespectfully. Then we requested the bill again and finally got able to leave. Never dine again.
We were deciding where to eat and settled on Lavash, a Persian spot. The outdoor sidewalk patio area is cute but didn't see any heaters (only a few blankets). No lunch options sadly. - Armenian coffee ($5.00 USD) - 2x Kashk-e bademjan ($9.00 USD) - lavash bread was a touch dry, eggplant dip was solid. - Bademjan ($27.00 USD) - lamb was slightly dry, eggplant was great. - Lavash special ($53.00 USD) - rice was nice and buttery. Chicken slightly overcooked. The mixed ground beef & lamb skewer were better. Lamb chop were easily the best bites. - Taste of Persia ($57.00 USD) - beef fillet was nicely cooked. Decent Persian eats but pricey. Nothing we can't find back home. 3.5 stars.
The food was just okay—too dry for my taste. The atmosphere is cute, but the experience felt overly fancy without basic things like salt, pepper, or even offering a spoon. I won’t be returning, especially since there are other Persian restaurants in San Francisco with better food and bigger portions.
I had ash-e-reshteh and koubideh at this restaurant a couple of days ago. Personally, I didn't like the quality of aash-e-reshted overall (esp. the garlic pieces in it) but the koubideh was fine; the amount of sumac they offered and also the rice besides the kabob was really good and more than enough. The service, area, and atmosphere was all fine. Overall, I think the prices must be a little bit expensive for this level of quality.
great atmosphere, super friendly staff. The food is decent. But not the greatest koobide it’s not professionally hand crafted as it should. It tastes pretty good tho. The 3 star is because of the price to portion ratio. the portion size compared to price is not great value. but 16 bucks for tahdig is just ridiculous.
Lavash was my favorite Persian place in the Bay Area, but over the last 2 years, food quality and portion went down significantly! Specifically, tahdig was very disappointing… nothing like the Persian tahdig you expect!
The atmosphere was cozy, but unfortunately, the poor service ruined our experience. I requested a well-done kabob, but it arrived pink. It took a long time for the waitress to check on us so I could mention the issue, though they did kindly address it. However, when the “well-done” kabob was brought back, it was still pink! To make matters worse, the waitress never returned to check if the food was satisfactory. I also had to remind her to bring the complimentary sabzi and bread, which should have been served automatically. It’s worth noting that the restaurant was, at most, half full, so the lack of attentiveness was disappointing. Tahdig with gheymeh bademjoon was delicious, but koobideh was so average.
I went it without a reservation and since the indoor dining area was completely empty, was debating getting a seat inside, the manager/owner lady audibly addressed the waitress that was greeting me to tell me they can’t seat me inside, without acknowledging me and with a very impolite tone and facial cue. I got sat outside. None of the chicken/meat options are halal (except the shishlik) so I got Ash Reshte and Kuku Sabzi. Ash reshte was OK. Could have used more salt, kashk, noodles. Kuku sabzi was truly the worst I have ever tried. The texture was off. The taste was gross. The ratio of eggs to herbs and veggies was also off. I could only manage one small bite and returned the dish (which they still charged me for). The presentation was also weird, one of the three pieces was half the size of the other two, and the barberry garnish had rice in it, which made me wonder it was scraped off of a rice dish and put there (and maybe the small kuku piece was also salvaged like that?). All in all, very bad experience.
Was very excited about this place given the wonderful ambiance and welcoming staff. The food however, was incredibly subpar and not worth the price for almost any of the dishes. Almost all of the apps, bread, dips are served cold with very limited seasoning or flavor. For example, the panir dish is some cold salad, nuts, and cold feta. The labneh also lacked much flavor. The menu options were also quite limited and often just variations of the same. The highlight item - kebabs - are served with 90% plain rice and very limited yellow rice. While the kebabs themselves were good, it wasn’t anything to write home about. The menu needs a lot more variety, substance, and most importantly, more hot dishes! The servers were incredible however, were very kind, prompt, and accommodating.
the old women who appeared to be the owner is the main reason we won't go back there anymore with her attitude also the worse rice I ever had . don't try using there restroom you will be disappointed
I brought my two daughters here to experience another Persian restaurant in San Francisco. My daughters are biracial/half Persian, do we have eaten in many Persian restaurants, in Chicago. New York, Vancouver, Arizona, Los Angeles and San Francisco. This was by far my worst experience after 40 years of dining in Persian restaurants. The low rating is specifically for the service and atmosphere. The racism and bias of the hostess/greeter was very palpable. We were not welcomed and it was obvious, this was due to our skin color. We were sat outside and no one approached our table for 20 minutes. We were then told our waiter is coming did we want any drinks. We had to ask for water for our table after 20 minutes. When our waitress did arrive, we we asked "Are you ready?". We were not greeted warmly and we had to chase the waitstaff for refills, extra bread, etc. The waiter and waitress did not offer their name and seemed very afraid of us, a woman with two teen daughters. My daughters were afraid and saddened by this treatment, especially since they have been warmly accepted by other Persian establishments. Conversely, the staff was warm and welcoming to their other guests. Their white customers were treated with smiles and courteous service. The behavior exhibited by the waitstaff was disturbing and disgusting.
Flavor of the kebab was disappointing . No refill for the drink! They charged the extra half of the tomato! We sat outdoor. Inside smelt like ghormesabzi! I used the restroom and there was no paper toilet or toilet sit cover! We asked them to split the bill and they didn’t even bother themselves to do it!
This is the overall experience when I picked up order from this store.. they told me to wait for 10min I waited and then another lady comes in and again 10 minutes and again 10 minutes.. I waited more then 1 hour but they just kept lying.. if you ever even thinking about ordering from this store and pick up then you just forget about it.. they don’t treat you well.. they don’t treat well for other delivery driver who are trying to make it.. and they don’t respect the time of others..
Terrible! I had eaten at Lavash a few times before. I think the quality of food has gone down significantly over the past year. Our table (mixed of Iranian and non-Iranian friends) tried 7 different appetizers and main dishes and they were all disappointing. The service was slow and minimal too. We all decided we wouldn’t go back to this restaurant.
There was only one meal out of the six ordered that was worth eating and that was the chicken and steak kabob. The stews were terrible as was the bland salad. The teas had no flavor. The service wasn’t good either. First they brought out the wrong meals and then served the correct meals at different times. It was a long wait for bad food.
Didn’t even get to order. We got booted out for having a pizza with us from another place because that’s all our toddler will eat. Not a friendly or accommodating atmosphere by any measure.
I am shocked by how bad the Kashk-e Bademjan was, and the Borani description mentioned five different ingredients, but the only thing you could taste was low-quality yogurt. Dough should be one of the most authentic and beautiful cultural drinks, but it was completely tasteless. The place is called Lavash, yet the main entrées don’t come with any lavash. The only bread they served at the beginning was cold, store-bought lavash that you could easily buy yourself. When we asked them to heat it up, they said they could only use the microwave. That’s an interesting way to show business respect, right there. We tried $150 worth of main entrées, and I’ve had much better meals for $50. Nothing special here.
I ordered Kubideh and Bakhtiari (Barg and Jujeh). The Kubideh was dry and very bland, far below what you’d expect from a Persian restaurant. The Jujeh kabab was the real problem: it was completely raw inside, as if it had been on the grill for only a few seconds. We couldn’t even eat a single piece and had to throw the entire Jujeh away. Serving raw chicken is unacceptable and unsafe. This was a very disappointing experience overall.
Portion of the food was very small. 15 minutes wait time for using the bathroom. Overcooked rice. They are pushy to get you out of there once you don’t eating, not thinking you may wanna have desert. Overall the place would me much more peaceful without a lady manager on the floor.
The food was actually very good — fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. The front desk lady was extremely rude and had a noticeable attitude from the moment we walked in. What made it worse was that we were seated at a tiny table meant for two people, even though there were multiple four-person tables clearly available in the restaurant. It felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, and when we politely asked about it, the response was dismissive. Great food deserves better hospitality. Sadly, the lack of basic courtesy and customer service would make me think twice before coming back.
This used to be my go to place for Persian food in SF. Their portions, the quality of meat and everything was amazing. But over the past few years I have noticed that their food is getting so bad. The portions have gotten much smaller, the quality of the meat is awful now and the last couple of times that I got take out, the meat was so undercooked and looked so bad. I used to bring a lot of friends here when they would visit town and I would always hype this place up, but the last few times the food was so bad that I got embarrassed in front of my friends. I really wish they would work on this and improve this situation because I really want to continue supporting them.
Based on our previous positive experience, we chose this restaurant again. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. The owner (a lady) gave us the worst table and refused to seat us inside or at any other available tables. She claimed that those tables were reserved, yet no one occupied them during our entire meal. We were told we had one hour to dine, but after only 45 minutes she rushed us to finish quickly. This caused unnecessary stress, especially as my friend was experiencing swallowing difficulties. Despite this, we were pressured to leave. When we left the restaurant, there were still three empty tables. I tried to explain my friend’s medical issue to the owner, but she responded very rudely, saying, “That’s your problem.” This level of service and lack of empathy was shocking and completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable experience.
Very disappointing experience .. I used to really like this restaurant but the last two times I have been there recently had a terrible experience.. the appetizers were very low quality and don’t taste anything like the Persian names used for them .. the owner or manager working as the host were very rude and despite the fact that the restaurant looked pretty empty pretended to have many reservations. I won’t be back there any more and recommend that you avoid that place.
