Opinions de Mangrove San Francisco
Just an absolute delight! The spices mingled with the ingredients to offer the finest Thai flavor in town! Definitely recommend, curry catfish and honey duck that melted in your mouth
Of the several Thai restaurants we've eaten at in SF, this is our favorite. In ~2019, they changed their name and renovated the restaurant, and now with the excellent food, the ambiance is also phenomenal. Highly recommended!
The food was excellent, the server was knowledgeable and friendly, the interior is well decorated. We were there for lunch and it wasn’t very busy due to the rainy weather.
Loved the vegetarian ramen in red curry sauce
This is our go-to Thai place. Best pumpkin curry I’ve found in the city. Great for delivery, you can order from them directly and they will deliver.
This place is heaven. Don’t listen to the negative reviews. Delicious curries, noodles & veggies; everything is insanely flavorful & yummy. Eating in the restaurant—rather than taking to food to go—is a must. Highly recommend!
Great cocktails and delicious food! I had the nuea ramen with the red curry broth and it was absolutely delicious. It's a little different as far as ramen experiences go, but the noodles were excellent, the braised beef was phenomenal, and the broth was thick and very flavorful. I'll definitely come back here again.
Friendly staff, and the food was excellent. I didn't know Thai style ramen was a thing but it's like the best of both cuisines rolled into one, with broth like a light curry sauce. We only tried the ramen but I will definitely go back to try some of their other dishes. Only downside is it's a little on the expensive side.
Sooooo delicious the beef short rib curry Ramen was amazing. The beef was so delicious and tender. I got it twice in one day once alone for lunch and again with my daughter for dinner (her request) I did not fight her. I cannot wait to visit SF again to go here again
The food is really amazing. The coconut based ramen is very unique and tasty, particularly because you can choose your base (red curry, tom yum, yellow curry, and green curry.) The location looks very nice and the service is great.
I love to get takeout. The Ramen, curry, and Pad See Ew are all phenomenal. My favorite Thai spot in the city, and the service is excellent.
Great take out. They can make any dish really spicy but default to the safe so be sure to ask for it.. Super sweet staff - all Thai. But the place just doesnt get many sit down traffic.(the space is rather sparcely decorated but at least they dim the lights now and have booth seating!) I live down the street. The food is exceptional I love the fried spring rolls. They are dellicious and come with a great dipping sauce - no packets. - But BeWARE! The fresh spring roll - their default- Is for cud-chewers. There wasnt one of eight guests that would even take a second bite. The green curry- spicy is my favorite with the fried spring rolls and the best jasmine rice fir two. Mmmm
I’m not a Ramen girl, but their yellow curry ramen killed me (in a good way) :0 it was unreal, I finished the whole thing. The spice hit so well and if I’m ever craving ramen I think I found my favorite spot
Obsessed with their ramen! So far I've tried the red, yellow, and green broths and love them all. Super thick cuts of pork in the Moo Ramen. Delicious marinated eggs. Great portion sizing.
Omg so yummy! Ramen with a curry base 🤤. Get the Moo Ramen with Res Curry Base! So good Also the Spicy Crispy Bork Belly was great! I’ve been here several times and it’s always great!
Love mangrove. Best Thai spot in the area. I often get the Penang curry, pad Thai but don’t sleep on the ramen.
One of our go to neighborhood spots. Nice decor, delicious food, and doesn’t disappoint. I really like the ramen with the Tom Yum broth and the red curry.
We shared 3 dishes for under $30 ea. Including tax and tip. No drinks. Good options with varying levels of "heat". I get bad reflux and lean mild had no problem with any of the 3 we ordered marked with 1 pepper 🌶️ Pad Thai in coconut curry with chicken was my favorite. We also shared 1 with shrimp both were vegetarian with added protein options. We will probably visit again soon.
atmosphere is great, food is great. I can't rate lower than 5 stars just off one dish since I've had so many incredible dishes here but the Khao Mun Gai is offensively terrible and as one of the more pricier and objectively simpler dishes too - buy any other dish and avoid paying $22 for 1 dollar's worth of plain white rice and $3's worth of flavorless chicken giblets (cheap/fatty/rubbery part of the chicken)
YUM! I took a friend from abroad who had never had Thai food to Mangrove Kitchen, and I made a convert thanks to the really delicious food. We had spring rolls, pumpkin curry, and pad see ew, which was the best I've ever tasted. The servers were great; one of them at the door seated us at a table that wasn't for our reservation, and immediately another came to offer us a nicer spot that he had reserved for us earlier over the phone. I am eager to try other dishes on their menu!
I love this place! Great atmosphere, great service, and great food and drinks. The prices are excellent too; they match the quality of the dishes and don't make you feel like you are being gouged. Favorite Dessert: is definitely the Mango Sticky Rice! Favorite Dish: I can't choose. I have loved all the dishes I have eaten. Pumpkin curry, mango curry, all the ramen flavors, the spring rolls and crispy spring rolls. I have yet to be disappointed by any dish. I 100% recommend this restaurant for Thai cuisine. You will walk away full!
The food is so tasty - the most delicious unique vegetarian ramen around. I recommend the jay ramen with yellow curry broth. The service is friendly and the atmosphere and decor are chilled. The drunken noodles are SO good.
Great food. We only had curries so I can't speak to ramen, but the rice and curry, yellow with tofu, and panang with chicken, both very good. Chicken not just chopped chunks; cooked enough; lots of vegetables and sauce, quite a bit of food. Thai ice coffee and Thai ice tea were both good, in big tall tall glasses. Coke in a carafe glass, quite a lot. We've been twice, both servers were friendly, one super friendly, and it was relatively fast given there was a 12 person party there also. Nice décor with straw shapes from the ceiling. There are some bad reviews here but I think they are for long ago or maybe for the ramen or pad thai. Tofu spring rolls were fine, quite large, delicious sauce. Aug 2023.
The food was delicious! I had pumpkin curry and my girlfriend had the Aloha Fried Rice. Each dish was packed with flavor and it was a great space to dine in. Also had the 312 Divisadero cocktail, LOVED IT. Will definitely come back, and recommend to friends.
The food was more on the sweet side than spicy for my taste, but overall good quality. The food presentation and the ambiance of the restaurant were awesome. They were able to honor my vegetarian preference by offering curries without fish sauce. Lastly, I would definitely recommend their mango sticky rice!
Lovely restaurant, prompt service, very tasty food. The curry, noodles, and string beans were all delicious. Will be back.
Excellent tasting food, friendly quick service, and food came out quickly as well. We went on a Monday, so it was not very crowded. We got Ramens which all are cooked with a Thai twist, so if you are a traditionalist it may not be for you. But all the food was delicious. Would recommend.
I’ve been coming to San Francisco on weekends for meditation at Bodhi Meditation, and Mangrove Kitchen is right across the street—such a pleasant find. Parking is relatively easy around the DMV on weekends (free and no 2-hour limit), and there’s even a farmers market nearby on Sundays. The restaurant looks Western from the outside, but the menu surprised me—in a good way. Dishes are well-plated and flavorful, with most items under $20. Portions aren’t huge, but perfect for sharing if you want to try a few things. I had the spicy crispy pork belly—savory, slightly sweet and sour, super satisfying. My friend ordered the vegetarian spicy eggplant, which was tasty and beautifully presented. Mango sticky rice was fresh and solid too. Great spot for a relaxed meal after meditation. Would love to come back and try the tom yum soup next time.
Update 7/23/2025 order delivery - decided to give it a try again. I am so sorry I don’t know if I will go back. The portion has become very small. And I ordered “medium spicy” but it’s not spicy at all. —— **** Update: December 31, 2024. I’m not entirely sure if it was due to the overwhelming rush at New Year’s Eve, but we decided to revisit the restaurant. However, the waitress’s attitude was quite unfriendly, and she somehow managed to mess up all our orders. The food itself was disappointing; one of the dishes was excessively spicy. We are planning to return once more before giving up on the restaurant entirely. . The photos here were from our first visit ————————
Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, good food. Got thai fried rice and enjoyed the strong paprika. All the dishes looked good — friend’s ramen was well-presented. Went towards the end of the day, so we managed to avoid the crowd.
Delicious find! Lovely space with nice booth and open table seating. Cool decor. Nam Tok Tofu salad and veggie crispy rolls were perfect apps for our table; salad sauce was crazy delicious. I devoured my spicy crispy pork belly. The pumpkin curry and pad Thai were also favorites at our table. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town again, great energy, food, and service. My app and entre was $37 and totally worth it.
BEST THAI food in san francisco. I was elated to have tasted and visited Mangrove Kitchen. Loved the food and their amazing ambience. We ordered chicken satay - which was very savoury and had a nice peanut flavored sauce, thai fried rice- was so good with a lot of chicken pieces, green and red curry- amazing, aloha fried rice- with the pineapple flavors mesmerizing your tongue. The star of the show was the tom yum soup- so tangy, so fresh, so yummy. 5 out of 5 stars.
By far one of the best Thai restaurants, I have ever eaten at! The food was excellent and served promptly! The vegetarian crispy rolls were fantastic, as well as the Thai tea!! I will definitely be coming back!
Incredible food!! You must get a curry ramen. I was skeptical at first, but it’s delicious. I got the soft shell crab ramen with yellow curry. The caramel soft boiled egg in it was one of the best eggs in ramen I’ve had. Also the noodles were chewy and high quality. Pork belly is also very good, though my bf wish it had a bit more pork belly haha. Pineapple fried rice had a spectacular presentation and was very flavorful. They unfortunately didn’t have cocktails the night we went, but they look delicious on the menu so we can’t wait to try them when we get back. The cab red wine is actually very good, would recommend a glass.
Came in on a Saturday afternoon and was seated right away. The service was quick and staff was friendly. The menu offers a variety of quality dishes. We chose the chicken wings, soft shell crab and curry chicken (Kai) ramen with no regrets. I’d definitely come back again 👍
Actually really yummy and good quantity for the pad see iew. Not too busy at 6pm on a weekday. Other dishes looked really good and I'd definitely be down to come back. Interior aesthetic is really nice as well. Good service. Thanks!
Ordered the soft shell crab ramen and it was quite delicious with a lovely deep friend soft shell crab with the delicious tomalley still intact. It’s a nice fusion of Thai flavors inside a traditional Japanese dish. Did wish it was spicier though, the server made it seem like it was Thai spicy levels but it was pretty mild. Service was quick and friendly.
So delicious! They were out of the ramen I wanted but put together a “similar” ramen. It had some crunchy ramen on top, beef, and red curry. Divine! Got Pad See Eiw to go, which was great too, but Ramen was the star. Can’t wait to return and try more.

Had a great lunch here today.

Had the mango curry and it was amazing! Also had the lobster ramen. The lobster itself was fine but the rest of the ramen bowl wasn’t that great considering the price.
Great food, great service - pricey but what isn't in SF right? Portions are OK- just right. Not crowded so no wait time. Safe option for last minute plans with a few or large group. Wait time for food was a bit long, but food was fresh and tasty.
Went to this place after reserving a slot on Yelp. The 1st impression was that it looked very hipster thai place with fake surfboards and long common table in the center. We got our table within 5 mins but I saw other people waiting for up to 15 mins or more. Our server gave us water and menu pretty quickly. We ordered veggi spring rolls, Pan Fried Thai noodles and soft crab shell with red curry sauce. Spring rolls: 4 / 5 Fried Pan fried noodels: Just like drunken noodles - 3/5 Soft Crab Shell: The curry option can get a bit heavy but the taste was good - 4/5 I also ordered a lychee Martini which was exceptional - 5/5 (sweet drink) Our service was good and the presentation was very good.
Ordered the spicy crispy catfish for lunch and it was excellent! Super flavorful, a little kick, and delicious fish! Ordered for pickup and it was fast and fresh. Will definitely be back!
Delicious Thai fusion food with your standard curries and some unique dishes like pineapple fried rice and Thai ramen. Don't get the pork belly though - it's very hard and tough to chew. Everyhring else was good!
Adorable dim sum place that felt much more relaxed than others I have been to. This could be due to the lack of dim sum carts rolling around frantically. Atmosphere was good and the food was very tasty. I would definitely come back here. The receipt was in Mandarin I believe which added to the ambiance.
A solid Thai experience all in a very familiar San Francisco vibe. Definitely a local spot and they have great takeout options. If you are in the area its worth the stop.
I just came back from Thailand. In my 2 years living there, I can say that this is genuine thai food. Our server was the most kind and happy server ever. It was a joy chatting with her. Took more food home than we ate there. Share a dish and enjoy.
- neua ramen [ramen noodles with 24 hrs slow cooked beef, spinach, carmel egg, shiitake mushroom, and tom yum soup base] ($22) never have i ever been to a spot where the ramen's soup base was interchangeable with options like curry/tom yum. being someone who usually opts for tom yum as my soup base during hot pot had an automatic bias preference for tom yum here at mangrove kitchen! and wow they did not disappoint. the flavors of the soup and pairings with the ramen were fireeee - besides the fantastic food, the staff's service was also super incredible! the ambiance of mangrove kitchen is casually romantic and classy. it's the perfect spot for friends, family, and even dates! the only downside in my opinion (just like for many spots in SF) would be the limited amount of street parking in the area - but besides so this spot is a space id highly recommend for yall to check out if yall are in the area because even though i only tried one dish - their whole entire menu seemed so delicious!!
Good idea on combining two popular Asian dishes that are ramen and curry together, but it should not be called ramen, just because it has seasoned egg in it. Those eggs are perfectly cooked and tasted so good though. Other than that many ingredients like their grilled chicken and gyoza are pretty much frozen pre-made from supermarket shelf, which don't have distinctive tastes. Combo sets are the best value. Overall give it a try.
Fantastic food, great relaxed vibe, and the service… kind, warm, sweet, and attentive 10/10.
Nice cozy thai restaurant with some japanese fusion. Definitely less busy that other restaurants in the area, which makes it more enjoyable. High food quality and very nice environment. The mix of ramen and curry was a little weir but in a good way. I will definitely go back.
This is such a cute restaurant in the city!! Definitely one of best Thai food spots I've been to in a while. The ambiance is visually beautiful and great for date nights or small gatherings. A little understaffed during busy dinner time, but we also came at the same time as many other tables. Here's what I tried: + Panang Curry with Pork (5/5): SO GOOD! Great portions. If you love your curry with a strong coconut creaminess, this is THE DISH you need to try. Great flavor, not spicy at all - and the pork in this was amazing! Tender, flavorful, and sliced thinly. A must try! + Khao Mun Gai (2/5): Pretty disappointed by this one. The chicken thighs were SO DRY! Even with the sauce (which was great), the chicken was dry. Even the chicken rice was clumpy and not very flavorful either. + Aloha Fried Rice (5/5): No complaints here! A good balance between all the flavors. Pineapple wasn't too overpowering and the shrimp were huge! I liked the cashews and raisins surprisingly, and the presentation was very cute.
Came here on a Tuesday afternoon with no wait time at 5:45 pm. Good: - Super nice staff - The Aloha fried rice here was divine, it was amazing and super tasty - The ramen here was really tasty, I liked it with the tom yum soup a lot - The red curry with beef was also great, it had a nice sweet flavor and the rice it came with was good - The gao chicken rice was good, though a little bland, the sauce that came with it made it a lot better - Pretty and clean interior, good ambiance for catching up with friends Bad: - Prices are decently expensive and high - Portion sizes are pretty small Overall would come here again!
One of many casual-to-upscale Thai eateries in SF — with well-executed menu, cleverly designed interior, but relatively high prices. $18 for Pad See Eiw: tasty, but worth it only if you prefer not trekking to the Tenderloin or Richmond for a taste comparable.
I ordered Moo- ramen, tomyum soup, fried shrimp and Thai tea. Moo-ramen's broth is curry and comes with pork belly. It was very special and impressed, this was my first time to try this kind of ramen. The environment is great, and it is new-opened restaurant. I will definitely visit soon.

Not sure why, but it seems this business appears with two different names on Google Maps. Search for Mangrove Thai Kitchen for full review. tl;dr - Interesting take on Ramen, which is really a curry soup with an inconsistent cooking quality.
In a world where 5 stars means my eyes light upon the first taste, 4 stars means I was sad when my dish is over, and 3 stars means I enjoyed it, my meal earned 3 stars. It was tasty, the place was cheap / chill, the service was speedy / good. The thai ramen was interesting, but ultimately not very ramen-like. Which is to be expected given it's a curry based soup. I got the pork belly ramen with red curry soup and it was a little too on the sweet side for me. Very generous pork belly portions. All in all very 3/5.
Food was fine, definitely liked the curry the most
Errr very mid ! Price a little high , it is average $30 a plate but it looks and taste the same as those king of Thai $20 a plate …. Going to need a lot more to convince me lol. do like their playlist tho XD
I really wanted to give this place a chance despite all the other reviews. I decided to get the duck since no one else complained about it. Turns out it was terribly tough and if I hadn’t been on a first date I would have sent that back immediately, which is not in my nature. Couldn’t even finish it. It was the chefs pic so I thought it would be a safe choice. Apparently it’s chefs pic because they just grab pieces out of a scorching 6 pan and throw it on a plate with some sauce and broccoli stems and call it a day for $30. 2 stars because service wasn’t terrible.
Had their food a few times and enjoyed it. I ordered again recently and had an awful experience - flavors were good but the pork in my curry was absolutely abysmal, so tough to chew and funky taste.
The ramen was really tasty and good, however my gf has a bad gluten allergy and they would not let her eat her food she had gotten at another restaurant and told her they offer gluten free items. She ordered a rice dish with real crab they said but not 10 later she had a really bad reaction. Would not recommend for people with celiac.
I really want to like and support this place, but they make it kind of tough. We recently were given someone else's order and when we called to try to fix it they acted annoyed and didn't offer to try to get us our order sooner - still quoted us the standard wait time and said they wouldn't prioritize fixing it. Didn't say sorry or act kindly or anything and then we had to do the walk again to go get it. Not a good neighborhood feeling here.
great service, weird vibe, mediocre food, and high prices. 35 bucks a head incl. a beer and shared app, lol. the pad see ew had sen-me noodles, not sen-yai. the green curry was thin, neither spicy (heat + flavor) nor richly creamy. light on the proteins, too.
I am usually wary of Groupon deals. They are often no deal at all, with bad food, sullen service and reduced portions. Come to think of it why would restaurants need to rely on Groupon to drive traffic? I decided to go for this place as some reviewers had good ratings, and I was in the neighborhood. A $14 + tax plate of duck red curry at lunch came with a meagre amount of rice. I had ordered spicy, but the curry came sweet with tons of canned lychees, and no balance (of flavors - hot, salty, sweet, bitter) which is a hallmark of good Thai food. Worse was to come. The menu advised that the curry order came with a side of plain rice. There was barely 2 spoons of rice in the bowl. I ordered 1 extra plain rice, expecting to pay some extra. They charged me $5.00 for the extra rice. Apparently that's a Groupon special! Came out to $25 with tax and tip for a lunch order of curry, for one person. SKIP this place!
Looked forward to trying out a new restaurant. Unfortunately it fell entirely flat. We ordered a chicken Pad Thai and a chicken Thai spicy fried noodle. The chicken pad Thai was fine, nothing special to return again for but not bad. The Thai spicy fried noodle was the most disappointing meal at a restaurant I’ve had in a long time. The dish was not spicy. The chicken was cooked to oblivion and the lack of any sauce made the dry unseasoned chicken barely edible. The ambience was nice and the waitstaff was pleasant, but the food was terrible and I will not return.
Ok food (would give 3 stars) and very average service. The dishes miss authentic Thai ingredients. The waitress tried to charge $1.5 for warm water, we settled it with manager and she still put it on the bill. Not a big deal money wise, but it’s the attitude.
Once you finally do get their attention to place an order their time to make something as simple as pad Thai and chicken wings was well over a half hour. They were empty at the time I ordered. Maybe more importantly these four little prawns were added to the pad Thai I ordered with Tiger Prawns. Obviously not tiger prawns, and certainly not worth the upcharge.
Food is decent, but I waited 30 minutes post pick up time for my food. (So 45 total wait when it said 15). Just say it’ll take 45 minutes don’t make me wait 30 min at your restaurant.

Really quite terrible food. We were wondering why the place was empty on a weekend night and quickly found out when the Pad Thai arrived. This is the first time I have ever stopped eating a dish after three bites, and then declined when asked if I'd like to have it packed.
Worst pineapple Fried rice I've ever eaten. Trust me I'm only eating it because I'm starving right now. Food presentation is 100% but tasteless. Idk what the rest of foods. I've had their PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE only
Pad See Eiw was very good! One of the best I’ve had. However the waitress was rude! We showed up at 5:30PM at an empty restaurant and asked if we could sit down and eat, she very rudely turned us away because we ordered takeout. Working at the service industry requires politeness which she had none! I understand the restaurants rules but they should be communicated in a nicer manner, it ruined my experience and won’t be coming back :(
What’s the point of having ppl sign in your waitlist if you're not following the order of your waitlist? Was there on a Friday evening and a South Asian lady arrived with her family 2 tables later than us, but because she kept arguing with the waiter he let her skip the queue. 100% wouldnt recommend this place for weekend evenings.
Didn’t attention online orders and dashers
Food was awfully sweet. We got the pad see eiw was sweeter than a birthday cake, the ramen was a little less sweet but the “24 hour slow cooked beef” was stone-hard! How can this be 24 hr slow cooked!
Bad customer service. Refused to honor groupon guidelines. Forced to eat out side of establishment. Then while paying the waiter had the nerve to tell me no more than ten pennies. On top of that, she gave my friend a hard time while paying with her card. Unfortunate event, but the food is good.
Terrible service, and the table was dirty. We were hoping for a good dinner after a long Sunday, but this place was disappointing. First, it took 10 minutes to take our order, even though it wasn’t busy. Second, the main dishes arrived with the appetizers, so the food got cold before we could even start. Third, we had to keep raising our hands for water because the waiter was too busy chatting and texting on their phone. Worst of all, the waiter had a bad attitude and made us feel like we were being annoying. Definitely won’t be coming back.
The general consensus on this place is that it’s so mid. But I just wanted a simple soup so I figured that it would be low risk. Ordered soup w/ shrimp and brown rice. Somehow came to $30 but ok.. First attempt: they gave me the wrong soup, one I’m actually allergic to. No big deal, mistakes happen Second attempt: I went back, clarified my order (with the prawns, please), and they confirmed it was the wrong soup. Got the right soup and left. Third attempt: Halfway down the block, I check—no prawns. Back I go again to ask for the correct order. I was met with SO MUCH ATTITUDE as if I had done something wrong. They literally made me open the soup and handed me a fork to “prove” that there actually wasn’t any shrimp. At this public shaming, I literally dug through this soup and there were a collective 2 shrimp. I asked if this was normal and they just rolled their eyes and went to the back. So I basically ended up spending over 30+ minutes on a bowl of soup and feeling publicly shamed for their mistake. Will never be back ✌🏽
It will be the last time I ever buy a meal unless they offer one for free. I bought the CRISPY pork belly with broccoli which turned out to be a tasty disaster. The point of crispy pork belly is that the skin is crispy, it was soft and not worthy for eating. The meal it self was not worth $22, more like $7. Thanks for your total failure Mangrove
Ordered food for pickup; arrived at the restaurant when they said it was ready. However I had to wait an additional 45 minutes to receive my meal. Front of house was extremely understaffed and the front of the restaurant is filled with uber drivers waiting for pickup. Wouldn’t want to eat here or order from here again
The bad: Totally understaffed! Long long wait for seating, ordering AND getting the food!! Not cheap, small portion. Can't get the order correctly. Noisy. Bad music. They forced the 18% gratuity on us, even though we were only 5. Ramen was ok, salad was bad. The good: roomy, nice interior decor, table bench is cool.
Mangrove on Divisadero in San Francisco was reported to be a fine Thai food experience. The menu certainly gave that impression as did the very high prices. My friend and I found parking right in front on the street and were seated almost immediately in one of the large booths. The decor of this place is quite lovely! Woven basket lampshades hung from the ceilings in shapes that went from organic to fish. After scanning the menu, I realized I could only afford one dish, so no appetizers I had a Thai iced coffee, which was awesome and ordered the softshell crab Ramen, which came with shiitake mushrooms… my FAVORITE!!! my friend ordered the vegetarian green Thai curry. Hers came first, but the food was served quickly. Her bowl was decorated with savory crispy fried Long noodle sticks. When mine arrived, there were two large crispy pieces of softshell crab. But something was off. I’m allergic to fish, but I can eat shellfish. It’s just fish with scales that I’m allergic to. But the smell of fish makes me retch. And the smell of bad fish… One bite into the crab, and I realized that that was where the odor was coming from. It’d befouled the entire soup. It’s a pity. The soup had lots of corn and some pretty slices of a small onion… maybe shallots? But I couldn’t eat it at all! I was struggling not to throw up. I had to suck down my Thai iced coffee to attempt to eradicate the taste. I flagged the waitress down and told her of course she seemed concerned she asked if I would like anything else and I said yes I would appreciate the same dish only with chicken and no crap. I asked her to add shiitake mushrooms to it. She seemed concerned about that too. When she returned, she brought a large bowl like the previous one, but after one bite and then a second bite to make sure, I realized it was not the previous Ramen soup as before. At all. It was vastly different in spice, fairly bland, and then she reappeared with a little bowl in which was placed a single small shiitake mushroom Seriously? They charged me five dollars for one shiitake mushroom cap? Better be magic for that money. Sadly, all the magic had been drained from the evening, and I can only say that after all their arguing that their chicken Ramen was a different soup from the soft shelled crab and that my saying I wanted the *same* soup -only with chicken - meant nothing to them, that others is far better than I did. Honestly, if someone were about to throw up because I brought them spoiled fish, I don’t think I would charge ANYONE at the table for their dinner! But they did not think that was appropriate.
Worst food i have had in san francisco so far. I have been to Thailand, have had Thai food thousand times and have never had a food this bad. The drunken noodle tasted like a pastry, the beef was chewy, the ramen(!?) Had big chunks of chewy cheap beef in it. I have never experienced anything like this before. Don’t understand how it could have 4.2 avg stars…maybe paid reviews? Who knows.
