Had a really great experience at Matador Restaurant in San Francisco! The food was delicious—fresh flavors, well-seasoned, and everything came out just right. Definitely left happy and full. Special shoutout to my hostess, Anhelina. She was genuinely kind, gentle, and really great at her job. She made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in and checked on us just the right amount without being overbearing. It’s always nice when someone truly enjoys what they do! The vibe of the place was inviting, and overall, I’d definitely recommend stopping by for a good meal and some warm hospitality

The food here was great and my partner seemed to also enjoy the cocktails. We went during happy hour which was also a plus. I Enjoyed the enchiladas with Verde sauce a lot. The salsa had a weird amount of oregano in it but that's like my only complaint.

A Must-Visit Spot in San Francisco! 🌮🍹 After a long cross-country flight, this place hit the spot! The queso was absolutely ridiculous. So creamy and flavorful. The drinks? Delicious and perfectly crafted. This is a must-visit while in San Francisco. The meats were perfectly seasoned, making the tacos completely irresistible. And the decor? So quaint, so retro, it added so much charm to the experience. The space is versatile, accommodating intimate tables for two (like ours) as well as large groups, like the party of 20 seated next to us. This place is a true gem (thanks Google for leading us here), and we’ll definitely be back when in San Fran! 🌉

We couldn't be happier with the experience we had with Matador. We are from Fresno but got married at the San Francisco city hall. While looking for place to have a to eat we found Matador. From start to finish, the team was incredibly professional, friendly, and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious—authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The next day, my family couldn’t get over how good the food was. Did I mention the food was good? Lol!! We loved how they offered customizable options to fit our theme. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and the setup was seamless. It was clear that they genuinely care about making special occasions unforgettable. We are so grateful for their hard work and can't recommend this place enough. Thank you, for making our wedding day even more special with your amazing food and service.

Best food we had in San Fran! Wow! Amazing, tasty and well presented. Also a great price. Anyone who likes Mexican food should really give this place a go. I can't believe how good the food was. Good location close to Union Square, menu had good choices and the food was delivered quickly and was very tasty. You will probably need to book a table if you are in group as it was very busy.

Wonderful spot near Union Square for Mexican cuisine. A three taco mix-and-match for $18 is a crazy value, and the tacos are crazy delicious. I tried the Al Pastor Pork, the Camarones a la Diabla, and the Bistec Ranchero. I couldn’t pick a favorite, loved all three. Our companions loved the Ground Beef and Cauliflower Adobo. Enchiladas Pollo are excellent due to the grilled chicken filling and the subtle red sauce. The rice is perfect - completely done but still fluffy, loaded with flavor. The black beans were good but bland - they could be much more than they are. Cocktails are well made and worth it. Given the location and the quality, Matador is a great value for a nice meal out. We’ll definitely come back!

This was our first time visiting. The prickly pear margarita was refreshing and the fish tacos were good. Overall a good experience and would visit again next time in San Francisco.

Perfect casual spot for Mexican food. My first stop on my first trip to SF. If you like wet burritos, the super burrito is a must try! Also the chips are made fresh as well as the salsa. My only critique is the quesabarrias needed a bit more seasoning.

Absolutely loved our experience at Matador! The food is amazing and the service is top-notch. For appetizers, I highly recommend the nachos with chicken and guacamole—super flavorful and satisfying. For mains, the steak tacos and slow-cooked beef tacos were outstanding. The enchiladas with verde sauce were rich and comforting, and the quesadilla was perfectly cheesy and crisp. A great spot for delicious Mexican food in San Francisco!

A very modern Mexican restaurant that really came through on the food. After ordering some very delicious margaritas, we also opted for chips and salsa. Seriously, Australia does not do corn chips and salsa like this place does. I've been ruined now. We also ordered a mixture of different tacos. Their banana wrapped beef melts in your mouth! Churros were also delightful and the chocolate sauce was delicious! Would recommend!

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the bar selection is extensive. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The ingredients were fresh, but the fajita meat was underseasoned and lacked both spice and salt, which left the dish tasting flat and underwhelming.

The drinks where good, strawberry margaritas with basil, special for valentine. After eating many other chicken fajitas in many Mexican places, I can tell you that the chicken was very bad, the flavor was horrible and I had a small bone in my chicken, I don’t mind the bone that’s not supposed to be there, but the taste, that old chicken bad taste that you can shake up! I was sharing it with my wife and we couldn’t finish it, not because it was a big portion ( actually small portion) it just tasted very bad Also, none of the servers asked us how the food is, I guess they know it already… This is San Fransisco, the standards for good food here are high and I really don’t see how this place survives serving this food.

Enjoyed the food and the staff were lovely but the whole experience was tainted after we saw a rat jump from the TV up to the employee area above the bar just after we finished our food. We mentioned it to one of the waiters (younger guy) and he said “oh no, that’s the staff area” and didn’t really do anything… (photos of where we saw the rat running across the ledge above us)

The only good thing I will come back is the cocktail section. The old fashioned with mezcal was very interesting. The bartender was very friendly. The pastor tacos come with bacon, which in really is an alambre.. Cactus taco it could be only without mushrooms and more onion. They need to add a second tortilla as "copia". The console and birria was just plain. Without a lot of flavor. For the amount of money that you pay here. You can find better real mexican flavors in another place,

I came here with my son and my boyfriend. At first, the manager took care of us, then a younger waitress took over, which was fine. However, she was overly attentive and intrusive with my partner while completely ignoring my son and me. She kept addressing only him and didn’t even look at us. Not a pleasant experience at all, we came for a family moment and felt uncomfortable and disrespected. Would not recommend.
