Opinions de Mehfil Indian Restaurant San Francisco
A good vegetarian or vegan meal is hard to find outside of this community. I had an offer to do business with this restaurant and I agreed. The restaurant goers mostly ordered take out. They offered to let me sit, but I felt more comfortable with the takeaway option. Still, they had some nice tables outside on a sunny day. The food was very flavorful. While they had many options to a variety of consumers, I felt that the vegetarian option was superb in a world that often overlooks the beauty of this cuisine. It won’t leave you lacking in the spice department. I really appreciate the way the food excites the palate while keeping it real. The workers were very involved in the experience. I don’t think they expected the review, I just think they put an emphasis on good service with good food.
Got a Tikka Masala + naan to go. Extremely quick service and I had my lunch in 2 min. The chicken was a little dry, but I won’t complain. It wasn’t made to order and frankly I would rather get my food quickly. More rice than I’d like and next time I will ask for less rice than normal. Overall the food for the price and speed was great! The naan was really good too.
Went to have dinner here. Service was quick. Loved the food quality. We ordered fish tandoori, chapati and chicken tikka masala. It was great. Food was hot, adequate quantity and tasty. There is washroom, parking is little difficult since it is on downtown.
Visited the place in October 2019 during the business visit. The place is located in central place. I decided to sit outside as internal place is little dull. The best part was the food. The chef is really good and know how to mix proper Indian species. We order some paneer (cheese) and Dal (Lentils). The staff is nice and courteous. Worth visiting the place if you are looking for good Indian Vegetarian food.
Great restaurant. Enjoy North Indian taste. Big enough to handle around 60 people at a time. Easy accessible from street. Many buses can take you near to it. Comfortable seats.
My heuristic for finding great Indian restaurants is: less hoity toity decor, more Indian customers = better food ... didn't lead us wrong this time. The location is humble, but we asked for our food extra spicy, and it was fire.
I reluctantly ordered the chicken tika masala because I didn’t want to be cliché but I’m glad I did. It was very good. I also had the samosas and they were amazing. Highly recommended.

Came at end of day and they still served us. So nice, but the food was terrific too. The naan was perfection. The samosa was large, crispy and filled with fresh veggies. The tamarind sauce was exceptional. My hubby got gluten free and loved it all. Will go again.
I had the chicken biryani which was tasty and reasonably priced for how big the portion was. Tables were nicely set and the service was great. Be aware there is a service fee if you're dining in (seperate from tax&tip).

I got the veg lunch box, which is pre-made curries with rice/naan. I like how they brought this concept (sewa) to offer this affordable meal. The taste was apt for its price. I think the general population would find it hard to trust the food/quality when you're served this way, but coming from a similar background as the restaurant staff, I believe them. Note: lunch boxes are only takeout!
Pretty good lunch spot. Tasty food served quickly by a very friendly server. Lamb korma was good with an ample portion of meat, some pieces were a little dry.
the sweet meat thali is a solid bang for buck - the lamb and chicken were super succulent, couldn’t get enough of the raita! will definitely come back for a <$30 dinner night.
It’s been more than a decade since I worked nearby and got lunch here. Takeout lunch is still as inexpensive and tasty as I remembered. They have more options now for the lunch and allow combos so I got half curry chicken and half saag paneer for $8 cash takeout! If you stick to vegetarian it’s $7 cash and meat is $8 cash. They accept credit card too with a fee.
Visited here for lunch, ordered chicken vindaloo and garlic naan. Food was good, service was good too. Well maintained restaurant.
There is nothing much to complain about here. Food is decent. I won't call it great given it's in Bay area and in here you will find absolutely amazing tasting Indian food. But overall food is good. I ordered Panner Makhani which was slightly on the tangy side. The ambience is average. Overall this place is between 4 and 4.5 star. I will probably try this place couple of more times this week. May give higher rating next time around if I find something that tastes amazing.
Very friendly and quick. Lunch specials are a great option however I really wish they would have given just a little more of the entree. Still tasted great, will be back to try more

The food was mediocre at best. Especially the garlic naan was disappointing as it was hard, folded up and clearly baked hours ago. The chicken curry had an okay taste and was just warm enough (not hot). Portion was generous and priced okay. Think they can do better and they might do if you actually sit down in the restaurant and come in after the lunch rush.

Food was pretty good. Minus two stars for having SF mandate + service charge of more than 20 percent and then still asking for a tip.

I used to get some butter chicken from time to time from Mehfil for about 10 years. Always predictably delicious. I ordered some last week and it tasted bad and not safe to eat. I don’t know what happened but it’s definitely the last time I order anything from them. So disappointing.
The overall food quality was below expectations. The dal makhani had a strange smell and did not taste fresh. Given the pricing, the experience felt overpriced for the quality offered.

Worst experience! Does not even deserve one star. Bad and rude customer service. Being Indian, I know what Indian food should taste like by considering quality and quantity. I ordered 3 items and all were undercooked and screen was playing vulgar Hindi songs. Not recommended at all from an Indian myself.
