We were walking by and decided to stop in on a whim, and we’re so glad we did !!! We sat at the bar and were immediately welcomed with some delicious bread and olive oil to start. We ordered the whole branzino, and it was truly spectacular perfectly cooked and huge. Amazing quality and portion for the price. My boyfriend had the rigatoni, and you could tell it was homemade, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly al dente. The bartender who served us was super attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. The menu is very diverse, with options ranging from fish and meats to pastas and more. We’re definitely coming back to try more dishes. It totally exceeded our expectations 10/10!!!⭐️
Wow! I was treated with the upmost service. I went with a dear friend, had an amazing time We were seated were there was a private party and enjoyed do much. The food was remarkable I started to tear up because it tasted like my grandmothers. On a scale 1 thru 10 I give this marvelous place trillion I was introduced to everyone, the owner, previous owner, staff, everyone is classic. Highly Recommend
Exceeded my expectations in quality of food and service. The vocalist had a great set list of classic jazz standards and some surprises, too. Will return!!
We stopped in here for drinks before our dinner reservations around the corner. My husband based a bunch of traditional dark bars, how much did the chagrin of our 27 year old son, who thought any of the other bars would be fine. The bar here was beautiful and upscale compared to the others. Drinks weren't cheap, but they were solid and the decor was beautiful...very festive for the holidays.
What an amazing place ! If you you are looking for real and spectacular Italian food in San Francisco this is the spot ! The Fettucine Bolognese were among the best I’ve ever had . They also have some addictive Tortellini my daughter could not stop eating . Complimenti Francesco and staff
We came here for a family holiday dinner and couldn’t ask for a better time. We ordered pastas (pasta della casa and frutti di mare), burrata, Caesar salad, and eggplant parmigiana and not a single bite was left. Everything was fresh and delicious! The pasta was perfectly al dente and flavorful. Lovely ambiance, service, and food! The whole team and especially Francesco was attentive and kind. Couldn’t ask for a better way to close out my visit home to SF with my family.
North Beach Restaurant is truly the best spot in the neighborhood. I eat there all the time. Their dishes are incredible — the tortellini, the seafood pasta, the lasagna, the prosciutto with burrata — everything is outstanding. The service is exceptional. Francesco is the best host, always so attentive, and the whole team makes you feel genuinely cared for. They put so much love into every dish. I really, really recommend this place.
Marcello was one of the best servers I've had in a while. Attentive but not over bearing. Knowledgeable but let me feel like I knew a little too. Food was outstanding. Creme Brulee wasn't set but the flavor was there. Really good. Our new SF date spot. Definitely worth the drive from the town.
One of the most underrated restaurants in SF. Samuel took great care of us. We got the Rigatoni Vodka, pasta of the house and the Tagliatelle Bolognese, which were all awesome. The Caesar salad might be the best we’ve ever had. Oh and they had live music. Great meal, special restaurant. Will come back again and again!
The food was delicious and service was excellent. The establishment is clean and ambience is nice (great for groups or family dinners). It was my first time here and I will definitely be back soon. Thank you so much for such delightful and thoughtful dishes. My palate appreciates it! Shout out to the cooks in the kitchen, and to Apo, for his wine recommendations. I highly recommend this place. PS They have great vegetarian options, great wine and the most delicious pistachio baklava I've ever had in my life! TYSM!!!!
Delicious, well prepared Italian with house made pasta and fresh ingredients. We enjoyed falanghina wine, caprese, tortellini, pappardelle and tiramisu. Staff was attentive, courteous, helpful and professional. Waiter was able to suggest a fantastic wine to accompany dinner. Sourdough bread service provided with excellent olive oil and balsamic. Hopefully, they will continue to provide their services for many years to come. Well worth the cost.
They recently reopened and we checked out. Menu is also renewed. The vibe is really nice and the service was excellent. The space is clean, beautiful, and well laid out. Tables aren’t too close to each other, which I really appreciated. It felt like the perfect spot to treat myself or celebrate something. We tried the rigatoni with mushrooms, gnocchi with truffles, and the beef shank with risotto. Everything was super tasty. The rigatoni was cooked perfectly and had a great filling, the gnocchi was rich and flavorful, and the beef shank was so tender it literally melted in my mouth. I finished with the tiramisu for dessert. It came with some strawberries and a little chocolate on top. Would definitely come back.
I had a nice time at the restaurant - vegetarian friendly : Nice flavors, desserts and cocktails/wine. Felt very authentic for USA (I’ve been to many nice restaurants in Boston and New York) Antonelli served us and he was very hospitable, friendly, patient and gave nice suggestions and customizations According to taste (forgive me if the name is wrong - I am very bad with remembering names, he was Turk-Bulgarian origin) I jokingly told my friend that this is how I want service to be at any restaurant, not rushed and requesting too frequently and not too slow that we have to keep waiting to request something.
My daughter had her wedding reception here last Saturday evening. The restaurant opened up an hour early, so we could host a cocktail hour upstairs. The reception was in a stately yet beautiful room downstairs. We had 52 guests and the food was flawless! The service was beyond superb with Jim leading the wait staff and catering to our every unplanned need on the spot! Shane did an outstanding job as the Event Coordinator and was very easy to work with. This has always been my daughter’s favorite restaurant in SF and it will forever be in our hearts as one of the most important pieces of our family’s big day!
Nice experience on a Tuesday night. Ordered fritto misto, lasagna, tiramisu. I drank Powers, neat. They provide bread with cheap olive oil and balsamic, complimentary. I asked for a table away from the live music but they put us right in front of it, so we had to ask to move. The table we moved to wasn't much quieter, but had more romantic lighting so we settled down there. Great portion size on the fritto misto. Server, Nino, was good - a little anxious towards the end, he was trying to check out - but he gets a pass. The pasta is fresh, though missing an element of structure. Tiramisu was disappointing, again lacking structure and missing depth of flavor. A decent place for a romantic dinner, though maybe not for a critic, or to bring a group to enjoy the atmosphere. The music and lighting complemented the vibe.
Nice atmosphere! The food and staff wasn’t quite up to par. For desert, I ordered an Irish coffee. It didn’t have any whipped cream on top, and it was bitter and undrinkable. That was a big miss, but they didn’t charge me.
STEER CLEAR OF MARIA. I want to start off by saying that I am a bit picky. I know what I like and don’t want to spend my hard earned money on things I’m not going to absolutely love. I have never been so offended by a server that I felt I actually had to argue with them. But Maria, la colombiana, was the first I’ve had to argue with! she was so rude! She raised her voice at me and I want to mention that I am also Latina & can communicate with kitchen and serving staff in Spanish if need be and am not typically intimidated by loud people with strong personalities as I have one too. But she was rude from the beginning. I ordered an espresso martini but asked for a splash of Baileys or heavy cream. She said no. I said what do you mean? She says no, we don’t have that.. I said u guys don’t have cream or baileys in this full service bar/restaurant? I doubted it but ok, fine. I’ll entertain it & take it as it comes. But then I thought about it.. you guys serve creamy desserts, cream based pasta sauce, perhaps coffee?? and u don’t have a tablespoon of cream in this establishment that u can grab for me? I actually don’t believe it & she was also raising her voice at me throughout this interaction. Their espresso martini is great for someone who wants it without cream but for me, it needed the cream. Why was that such a problem? Idk but Every other place I’ve requested that at, not a problem. We ordered the beef carpaccio & melon with prosciutto for apps. The prosciutto was delicious. The carpaccio had no flavor whatsoever. Literally no salt, the balsamic they supposedly add? Nonexistent. No flavoring. The prosciutto itself was delicious. So, so far the server is rude, the drink not made how I want && the food very bland. NEXT, I go to order mains and ask if they can use a white sauce on the frutti di mare rather than a tomato sauce. She says no. Then I explain to her that hey, can u please just use a white sauce from ur other dishes instead? She says no. She says the sauce comes premade for pasta Della casa and I said ok fine, u guys don’t have a different white wine sauce? She says the chef won’t make my dish like that. Why couldn’t she go ask first and then come back and say hey, he refused to make it I’m so sorry what can I get u instead? It made it seem like she didn’t wanna go ask which was unprofessional and so obvious that she couldn’t be bothered to go ask chef about something I wanted. She just didn’t want to help/ serve me. Ok at this point im not sure I want the seafood with red sauce. I typically only like it with a seafood broth, white wine reduction type of sauce and I don’t like tomato sauce typically. So I say ok, we’ll take the red sauce but can I please have it on the side as I’m not sure I’ll enjoy it? She says, so u just want dry noodle with seafood? It’s not going to be good, with an attitude and made a weird face. So insulting!! That’s one of my favorite ways I enjoy pasta. Very presumptuous of her to give her unwanted, rude opinion without considering if it would offend. I said yes, I want that with the sauce on the side. She made a rude face and gesture, so much so, that my fiancé said never mind we won’t get that. So we just got the pasta Della casa. Even then, the veal was just ground beef from the grocery store. Not veal and if it was, it didn’t seem like it which may be worse. But the sauce was pretty good and they cooked the pasta to al dente perfection. I will say the space is gorgeous, I loved where we sat and the table we were at. The busboys and food runners did an amazing job. Maria is an issue and liability. If I felt offended, I can only imagine what some others feel when tended to by her. I’m sure she was surprised to learn I was the one paying for the meal. Shes too abrasive for the service industry, coming from someone who spent 13+ years in food service. I usually take pics of everything but I was so annoyed and unhappy with my food, this all I got.
The food was below expectations: bland and served lukewarm. The service was also quite disappointing. From the moment we arrived, we barely had time to review the menu, as the staff member repeatedly asked whether we had already decided, even after we explained that we hadn’t. During the meal, we were interrupted and asked if we would like dessert before we had even finished the main course, which felt inappropriate. Overall, the experience does not represent my Italy, where food, hospitality, and respect for the guest’s time are fundamental. The final impression was one of being rushed to free up the table for other customers, rather than being offered a pleasant and authentic dining experience.
The food is very overpriced for what is offered and, unfortunately, nothing exceptional. The pasta dishes were bland and did not match the ingredients listed on the menu, which was disappointing. In addition, the experience was negatively affected by the staff’s constant rush for us to leave. We mentioned that we were simply waiting to use the restroom, yet the waitress rudely came over to inform us that it was available, clearly as a way to hurry us. Throughout the meal, we were repeatedly interrupted with questions asking if we wanted anything else. It is worth noting that we had finished eating and were just spending time talking as a family, for less than an hour total. Unfortunately, the service ended up overshadowing the entire experience.
I been many years to the original North Beach. Since they reopened I wanted to try it. I was very disappointed in food. I felt like it was all prepared a head of time. It really didn’t taste good. My pasta had one piece of small salmon in it. I was told everything is portioned controlled. We order the creamy polenta and it wasn’t creamy it tasted like cooked corn meal that needed to be cooked longer and it had plain tomato sauce around it. They had a piccata sauce for fish. We asked to make a veal piccata since they had veal. They said no the chef refused. Which says everything was premade ahead of time like a banquet food. For a high end restaurant I was very disappointed. They offered free dessert but we didn’t want it. He didn’t even offer to discount our meal. The drinks were the only thing that was good.
