Mỹ Cảnh Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant serves many delicious dishes such as grilled pork with rice, rare beef with lime, crab noodle soup, and crispy Vietnamese pancakes (bánh xèo). Each dish is full of rich flavors and truly represents the essence of Vietnamese culture. When you come here, you will not only enjoy the food but also the warm and attentive service from the staff. Every visit makes me feel like I am at home—just like when my sister used to cook for me. I haven’t lived close to her for nearly 20 years, but whenever I dine at Mỹ Cảnh, it brings back that same comforting feeling of home. Welcomed in with care. The food was prepared in a timely manner and the recommendations from the server were pristine. The restaurant itself felt like a family run mom and pop shop and the vibe was comfy. They seem to organize some community events within it too! The food portion was a lot! Definitely worth the cost and a visit. Thank you for the hospitality.

What a treat! We just saw Mitch Polzak here last night and the level of energy and presence he brought was outstanding. Super intimate close standing room with some surprisingly good sound. They started playing at 930pm. Lots of dancing. Vibes all around. Cash only bar for some standard bottled beers. Definitely come here for great live music and check their website for the artists schedule.

The Saloon was awesome! Oldest bar in San Francisco w/ Live Blues music, this place doesn't disappoint! You can tell the place hasn't changed much outside of a new coat of paint (probably because paint was invented after it was established, that's how old it is). Paint was probably invented before but come on..... I'd highly recommend checking this bar out in the North Beach neighborhood. It is CASH ONLY and they don't have an ATM.

The food is great. The service is acceptable. The staff seem to be always chattering in a language I can't understand, which means it's like going on an expensive vacation in Vietnam. It's a taste of the culture, but without that early 1970s angst of no support for that war. It's a refreshing break from the big box joints. Not everyone wants to risk this. I don't understand and get confused at times.

Great down and dirty Vietnamese on the edge of San Francisco’s Chinatown. The aesthetic is rough however the food is great, well priced and popular with locals. We arrived at just around 11pm and the place was alive and clearly popular. Food was tasty and a great find if you’re a seafood lover.

Wonderful live music vibe! Friendly customers who don’t mind dancing with each other. Small and cozy gathering place for lovers of live music and cheap drinks!! Be sure to count your change as the skinny blond bartender doesn’t take so much care with that. “Skinny blond” made the place so unpleasant with her ranting that the place emptied out. I’m so glad she’s not here today!! Back again for the great music in spite of the unpleasant bartender last time. This one is awesome!

This dark and murky little neighborhood bar has a very unique vibe. A regular crowd of interesting characters from the neighborhood. A space in the back for a live van to set up, they feature bands every weekend. The signage in the place is very interesting and clearly has been here of very long time. We had a Chow Mein special, grilled shrimp & beef bun and Vietnamese spring rolls. The quality of the food was good, but the portion size was quite small especially the Chow Mein came only with a very small portion of noodles and also bun dish was on the smaller side. Given that both dishes costs $17 each I was expecting at least a normal portion size. The interior looks worn out and in a need for an update. They also charge a surcharge for credit cards which was neither mentioned on the menu nor by the waiter. The service was okay expect that the waiter refused to close the door even though it was quite windy and cold outside. The waiter also tried to push me repeatedly to give 20% tip which was a bit annoying.

It's like stepping back in time at the Saloon. A small little dive bar (I love a dive bar) with music. Affordable drinks and a fun staff. We went for a friend's birthday party and had a ball. The impromptu jam session was classic. It was great to be in North Beach on a Saturday night.

This placed used to be the IT place for crab noodle soup. Some would say, legendary even... back in the day. Sadly, in September 2025, we got the noodle soup with the crab and it was clear the crab was not fresh. Wife said, don't bother eating it and we tossed our crab to the side. I tried the pork blood, and even that tasted a bit off. This place went from #1 for this, to worst we've had in a while. There was a grand opening banner outside. We should have known. Our second dish, the crispy noodle wasn't too bad. The noodles were indeed crispy which met half the requirements. It wasn't great, but wasn't bad otherwise. Sadly, we will not be coming back.

Tables weren’t clean. They should disclose the credit card surcharge upfront. The “extra large” pho was actually the size of a regular pho at most places. Also, if you want the 10% SF resident discount, make sure to bring an ID with your current address. For reference, my final bill for a $16.xx something dish came out to about $21.something after adding a 15% tip, the credit card surcharge, and then applying the 10% discount.

walking by because the live band caught my ear: as i'm waiting at the bar to order my drink, watching the band, i pull out my phone to record the saxophone solo being shredded by this adorable grandma ) and the bartender shouts and flails at me NO! NO! like im breaking a law. i'm startled and put my phone away asking what i did wrong - he SCREAMS at me, you DO NOT photograph before ordering a drink ! i respond okay i was waiting to and just wanted to catch her solo? he screams again to order my drink first ?? couldn't you just say, what would you like? - i get it in SF that everyone is obsessed w their phones but it was literally a timing thing. why would i spend ANY money ordering a drink from a man who is screaming at me? he could have just asked what i would like?? but i guess it's more fun to humiliate the lady enjoying the music. i would have ordered something just to stay for the band but never giving my cash to a place with such rude staff. Extra star for the hot granny on sax.

We recently concluded our visit to the establishment. Initially, the first round of drinks amounted to $13 for both. However, we observed an unexpected increase in price for the second round, despite ordering the same drinks. Despite this minor setback on New Year's Day, we opted to focus on enjoying the exceptional music. Additionally, there was an incident with one of the bartenders, a stout individual, who exhibited rudeness when I attempted to capture a photo of the bar, stating firmly not to consider taking any photographs. so be prepare for that if you’re planning to visit.

Crab noodle soup, it’s so disappointed. I used to love this place for crab noodle soup. Food now doesn’t taste as good as before. We asked for crab meat no shell, they said yes then brought out 4 bowls and said sorry they are out of the crab meat without shell. Each bowl is $20 so not worth it. Never come back.

They only accept cash, but they don’t clarify when you walk in. So I went in, sat for a while watching the band, but nobody came to take my order. When I moved from my spot, the man behind the bar—who I think is the owner—spoke to me and kicked me out because he pressured me to order something, but I didn’t have cash. Anyway, the only good thing about the place was the band I got to listen to for a bit. Really bad attitude and predisposition, and he even spoke to me in a rude, aggressive way when i wasn't doing something wrong on purpose. If you dont want people to walk, just control the entrance man and don't take it out on me. Never coming back and wont recommend.
