Just out boppin around lookin for things that won't get me in trouble.. talked to a couple of friends on Bay st. that needed another dude so some Shirley wouldn't be a fifth wheel, but this Wack had capital T Trouble scratched all over her. As I slid on over to Green street I spied old Hasbro Bottompacker and his little flavor of the day sneaking into the California Fish Market Restaurant for undoubtedly a spectacular meal. Well, I'm just going to have to join them so I can get up to speed on the Bowinkle Stabilization Platform I helped him secure from the Sandinistan Embassy without the approval of our Revenuers. I asked the waiter if he'd ever been to Napa, and eaten at the no defunct Carriage House Restaurant, and I was shocked when he said yes...they had a seafood dish called Scallops Guy, is that what you want? I was flabbergasted...that's exactly what I wanted, and Man-O-Man did they deliver, it was Amazing! ☆☆☆☆☆
Super busy spot on green. Worth the wait for quality seafood. Way better than being on the pier in the tourist trap area. Service was impeccable, seafood is as fresh and tasty as you'd expect. It's loud, and I recommend a reservation. The crab cake was the only semi disappointing dish. Fish n chips as well as the crab chowder were highlights
One of my new favorite restaurants in this town of fantastic eateries. A great place for good food at affordable prices. Start off with the bounties of the "Fish Market Deluxe Combo" for a little of everything - generous portions of King Crab Claws, Prawns, (Kusshi, Kumamoto, Marin Miyagi & Beau Soleil) Oysters & Sea Urchin. The menu indicated it should have come with salmon caviar, but honestly, it wasn't missed with the quantity & quality of everything else on the platter. The Spanish Octopus is tender and delicious - a definite must have. So tender, it practically melts in your mouth. The Cioppino is both huge and mouth watering. Warm goodness in the cool San Francisco weather. There's no way this is for a single person and it's even a significant amount for two people to share. It's not only the food but great service on top of that. All of this in the lively North Beach atmosphere.
This was a wonderful experience from the start. At first we came to Soto Mare but it was an hour wait for our table so we decided to try the one next door. We were seated right away and we got done eating by the time our other table was ready. We tried the Caesar salad, I loved the dried anchovies on the top it was so good. We also tried the clam chowder it was really good it had a smoky flavor to it. Then we tried the linguini with clams, I love how they put the red chili oil on top! It was full of flavor. The noodles were cooked to perfection. And we also tried the seafood risotto that was phenomenal as well then lastly we tried a dessert I guess it was flan that was lovely I think next time I want to try the tiramisu! We both can not wait to come back again. The waiter was so kind and attentive. Loved it here!
My wife and I spent a week in San Francisco for our honeymoon and decided to try out California Fish Market restaurant. It was so exceptional the first time we went that we returned during our stay for round 2. The first visit we had salmon crudo calabrese, Californian Miyagi oysters, Cioppino, and scallop linguini. During the second visit we had a combination crudo calabrese, a dozen Miyagi oysters, and the Dungeness crab linguini Granchio. Both meals were spectacular. Our server Alex went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. We will see you in a year, Alex!
Charming small restaurant in the heart of North Beach. The service was attentive, cordial, and friendly. It was quiet during the afternoon and extremely pleasant. The Risotto de Mare I ordered was outstanding. It was a generous portion but more than that it had a large variety of seafood with the best fresh favors. We went there for my husband's birthday and it was quite romantic. We will be back.
This place is a hidden gem! Right next to Sotto Mare, but not as busy! The crudo is just mmm! Delicious and fresh! 🤤 we ordered uni & bread plate — special order (hidden secret menu!). Then for our main, we ordered the Spaghetti Neri (Al dente!), lobster rolls (wow!), and fish & chips — everyone so good! Our service was also attentive and fast!! Definitely coming back again - reservation was so much easier than I thought!
Simply fresh and delicious is how I can describe this place. Absolutely loved the lobster roll sandwich and the octopus appetizer that I ordered. They have limited seating available on the sidewalk which is also great for a nice summer day. Also recommend their negroni cocktail. It is excellent.
.Stopped in while visiting from Delaware. We had a great time! Seating is tricky. I highly recommend a reservation. We had the lobster roll, dungerness Crab, and linguini with the crab in it. Everything was delicious, the service was good, and it was just a cool vibe. Definetly check it out!
Honestly delicious with amazingly friendly service. There was another table that wanted our table under the heater and, when we were asked to move, the staff made it worthwhile, were super chill, and took great care of us. The food - especially the crudo - was seasoned excellently. Reasonable prices with an awesome patio and alley seating. 100% recommend.
Great place to celebrate. The combo crudo was fresh and delicious. The sampler was a great way to get a couple of each of the oysters. The seafood was great tasting but I wished the presentation was better. Uni was 4 pieces and tasty. Octopus was tender with good char. The waiters were super nice and the parklet was perfect for outdoor dining
July 2023: Get the whole fish! 😀 We had a choice between the branzino and a bass. We got the 2 poundish bass. Started with a Caesar salad and the crab Louie salad. Both were very good. Also tried the raw 🦪. Good cocktail sauce and the 🦪 were fresh tasting! Also had the grilled calamari, which was very flavorful. We also had the clam linguini and the crab spaghetti. Everything was very tasty. Will definitely be back for more delicious food!
We ordered the Beau Soleil oysters, which were incredibly fresh and delicious, a perfect start to the meal. They also brought us complimentary bread, which appeared to be sour dough, and it was a lovely touch. For our mains, we tried the Ravioli con Aragosta and the Scallops with a side of Linguine al Pesto. I really appreciated that the scallops and pasta were served on separate plate, it was a thoughtful detail that made the dining experience even better. The ravioli was a standout. You could really taste the lobster, and the dish didn’t overwhelm its delicate flavor. The shrimp that accompanied the ravioli were cooked to perfection, adding another layer of delight. The linguine al pesto wasn’t quite al dente, but the pesto sauce was absolutely incredible. The rich, herbaceous flavor made up for any issues with the pasta texture, so I didn’t mind at all. Finally, the scallops with the Meunière sauce were simply stunning. I loved every moment of it. The service was excellent as well. The waiter Raul, was attentive, kind, and made us feel very welcome.
The seafood here is incredibly fresh! We started with the combo crudo Calabrese, which quickly became one of my favorites. It featured raw halibut, salmon, and scallop, topped with capers, Calabrian chili, and a sprinkle of sea salt--absolutely delicious! For the mains, we had the linguine granchio, a perfectly cooked linguine with Dungeness crab meat, tomatoes, and pepper. The cCoppino was a standout, filled with mussels, clams, scallop, calamari, and shrimp in a rich tomato-based stew. Everything was outstanding, and I'd highly recommend it if you're craving fresh, flavorful seafood!
Came here on for date night. Everything was really fresh and the food was delicious. Everything was really yummy. The lobster Will was a 7/10. The roll was kinda hard and blah. Could have been better if they used a softer roll and maybe buttered and toasted it. We also ordered a side pasta and that was really tasty! 9/10 Oysters 10/10 Halibut crudo 10/10 Octopus 10/10 Super friendly staff and well as really great service. Would definitely go back!
I discovered this delicious restaurant on my last day in SF. The staff were so friendly and courteous. The seafood was so fresh 😋 I never had better oysters in my life! It was heart breaking to leave. The Spanish octopus was so tender and delicious. The pasta as was as promised homemade but above all the ambiance and the quality of the food made it a spectacular experience. Try Italian and very spectacular.
Cioppino was good but not as good as next door, and DOES NOT COME WITH PASTA. Calmari was really good. Decent wine selection…service was ok, had to ask literally every accessory associated with consuming the food. Italian guy was hustling for sure and holding it together. He got the 5 stars.
Restaurant that focuses on the delivery of good seafood and it does so very well. Both our dishes were very fresh and very well cooked & seasoned. I had the mixed grill platter which was a very healthy portion of fresh seafood and salmon, each type of seafood was individually cooked so all were on point which is not a given in most places. My partner had the scallops which were also cooked perfectly and very good sauce work.
Initially we wanted to go to sotto mare but they were too full so we went next door and were very happy we did. We ordered the risotto, pappardelle al salmone , linguine granchio and Caesar salad The risotto and pasta were all amazing; seafood was very fresh and there was a good amount of it and the pastas were perfectly cooked with enough bite to it. The pappardelle was surprisingly delightful and unique , the smoked salmon they used is not your average smoked salmon (the one on bagels) and went well with the richer sauce . The salad was admittedly just average but no doubt all the pastas would be a great choice. Hope this place gets more business as I feel like it gets overshadowed from being next to Sotto mare . Our favourite place we ate at in San Fran.
I chose this restaurant after doing some internet research. I was celebrating my 50th birthday with my sons and knew I wanted to go to San Francisco (I live north of SF) and knew I wanted seafood! Everything was absolutely delicious!! We had such an amazing meal and memorable experience. Service was great, too! We got the seafood crudo combo, crab linguini, and Ciopinno and were in absolute heaven!
I don’t know why here only have 4.5 stars, I promised you guys this restaurant is more than 5 stars! This is the best seafood restaurant I never been in the Bay Area! Is *California Fish Market restaurant* Full of seafood in the tomato soup and really soft juicy octopus, this restaurant is the legend in Bay Area, you need to come here and should be your pocket list!
Amazing food. We came in without looking at reviews etc. Food exceeded expectations. Definitely worth checking out. Portions are huge, cioppino is enough for two people, sea food pasta, had more fish than pasta in it. They don't have a kids menu but our 9 year old ordered fish and chips and I must say they were amazing, probably some of the best fish and chips we had anywhere.
We came to eat dinner at California Fish Market Restaurant because of seafood cravings and saw their menu had several seafood items. It didn't disappoint! First of all, the service was spectacular. The server gave us a lot of attention and even double checked whether or not one of the items (a roe pasta) we ordered would be okay for us after describing it. He offered to switch it out in case we didn't like it (we didn't have to - it was delicious). We ordered some raw miyagi oysters, the scallop crudo, a lobster roll, and a fish roe pasta. Everything was tasty. The lobster roll had a slight spicy kick to it, which was a bit different than I expected. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance, with indoor and outdoor table seating as well as a bar area. Parking can be a little tough in the North Beach area but you can find parking if you don't mind walking a bit. Overall, good experience and would come back.
one of the best seafood restaurants on the block and in San Francisco. i had Cioppino and Pinot Grigio- it was perfect. great portion, worth the money and easily can feed two people. they also showed how to crack open the crab legs. the soup was amazing and enjoyed the experience dining here from service to presentation. 10/10!
Absolutely amazing experience from beginning to end. I came here with some family for a birthday celebration and we were amazed by the food and atmosphere. My partner doesn't like most seafood (mostly a "fishy smell" thing), but everything was so fresh and perfectly cooked that he ate everything! We started with the Grilled Squid and Kumamoto oysters. The squid was perfect, not too heavy and it was tender. The oysters were delicious with a hint of sweetness. We ordered the Squid Ink pasta, Chef's Selection of Grilled Seafood, Uni Bucantini, Dungeness Crab Linguine, and Lobster Ravioli. All the dishes were made where the seafood was really able to shine. I highly recommend the Chef's Selection! Everything is also large enough to share with a group of people. The tiramisu was delectable and the perfect way to end the night. --Corkage fee is reasonable so we brought our own bottles of wine. Overall, we can't wait to come back and dine in again!
Great food and friendly service. The waiter was so nice and helpful. He knew I was splitting a dish with someone, so he went ahead and split it into separate dishes. All of the food we tried was great. I would definitely go again. I recommend starting off with the Grilled Octopus, followed by the halibut, and ending with the Tiramisu. 🤤
Crab chowder was DELICIOUS! crab cakes are really good but the arugula salad just elevates the dish. The fish and chips were good, if they put a little more seasoning they would be perfect. Great service. Word the price.

Tried the Red Snapper whole fish and oysters. The fish was quite good with butter and capers and a side of vegetables. Bit on the pricey side but not bad. We ordered a dozen Marin oysters and they were spoiled. After tasing 2-3, we returned the entire dozen. The restaurant replaced them with other oysters that were much better. However they should make sure that they check these before they give it to customers. Service was good and our server sincerely apologized for the experience with the oysters, multiple times. This is important since at many restaurants, servers don’t even care. This one was different. They fixed their mistake.
Pretty good all around experience. Oysters were super fresh. Scallops cooked to perfection. Price to value a little off, but all and all a solid restaurant in an amazing neighborhood. Lots of tourists and service a bit lacking.
Loved the mixed raw seafood plate (see photo). I wish I had picked a different pasta; the uni pasta had very little sea urchin. Mussels were good. Good vibe. Excellent service. I think I will be back if I’m ever in Little Italy.

We ordered crab chowder, linguine Granchio and grilled squid. The chowder tasted great, but lacked crab meat, linguine was very salty and the squid was delicious but very oily. Although there's mask mandate for vaccination requirements, they don't check and half the servers don't even wear their masks. Food: 3 service: 4
The wife and I met up w/my sister for dinner here, who said the food was pretty good. I had to go inside and find a waiter, but after that he sat us inside right away. For drinks I ordered an IPA and the wife had the spritz, which she said was just ok. For apps we got a caesar salad, oysters, and crab cakes. I'm not an oyster fan, but they were pretty good, the caesar was ok, and the crab cakes were just ok. I kept getting bites of shell in my crab cake which I didn't enjoy. For the mains, the wife had the Crab Chowder, and my sister and I had the Ravioli con Aragosta. Here's where the restaurant redeemed itself. Everything was tasty and we all enjoyed it. Overall it was a cool spot.
I will start by saying the service was very good, they found a table for us very fast and the food came quickly. Regarding the food, it is not close to Italian food, despite that fact the pasta was cooked good, seafood as well, I would like to give a 3,5 stars but google does not have this option. Good food, nothing special, very delicious bread though.

While the cooked scallops were prepared delicately, the other food (especially the pasta) was more on the bland side. We had to ask for a lot of things twice (eg water), because there was only ~1 server when we went for lunch.
