Opinions de North India San Francisco
Amazing experience! The staff here are incredibly kind and welcoming. While I was waiting, they offered us tea, which was such a lovely touch. Everything was prepared very quickly, and the food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can really feel the care and hospitality. Highly recommend this place, I’ll definitely come back!
Great food and service. The chole and tikka masala had rich flavor, would order again!
Loved it so much!! Had the best chai tea of my life here and some amazing chicken curry.
Tried keema naan, chicken makhani, n chicken biryani here—honestly way better than most places that just claim to serve Indian food. This spot actually gets the flavors right. Good mix of veg n non-veg North Indian dishes. Calm music, nice ambience.
My wife and I spent our first anniversary in Sam Francisco, found this place while wandering and ended up being our favourite place to eat downtown. Atmosphere is wonderful, the staff is amazing, and the food is perfectly delicious! Different food every night, the spices and flavours were incredible each meal. Will come back anytime we are here!
We went to North India for dinner with our toddler and had such a good experience. The food was delicious, service was really kind and attentive, and they were generous with complimentary drinks too. The whole place felt very warm and welcoming. We’ll definitely be going back!
One of the best food experiences in San Francisco. Bhindi Masala and Dal tadka were very freshly cooked and flavourful. Mahavir Singh and Karan were great hosts.
Here’s a short positive review you could use: “The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and made the entire dining experience feel special. Highly recommend this place!”
I've been here a few times for the lunch buffet, which is really good and reasonably priced. The food is delicious, the naan is freshly made, and they served us wonderful gulab jamun at the end. Will come here again!
If you’re looking for authentic Punjabi food in San Francisco, look no further. Don’t judge this place by its overall ambiance because the food is, hands down, the best North Indian, Punjabi-style food I’ve had in the city. I’ve tried nearly every Indian restaurant with 4.6 - 4.8 star ratings, and honestly, they didn’t even come close. The paneer tikka masala was absolutely delicious: rich, flavorful, and clearly made the traditional Punjabi way. The mango lassi deserves a special mention: perfectly balanced, authentic, and made with homemade yogurt (dahi), which makes all the difference. And the chai: hot, comforting, and exactly what I needed on a cool January evening. If flavor and authenticity matter more to you than decor, this place is a must-visit. It truly feels like home-style Punjabi cooking done right.
Been NEEDING to PRAISE this place for a week now. I stumbled in at 9:15pm by myself after work. They're open until 11! Had the most excellent vegetable pakora I've ever had with a delicious sauce. Then ordered Tandoori Chicken on a whim (can't say I've ever had it.) It came out SIZZLING on a platter and was legit PERFECTLY cooked, tender pieces of chicken with just the right amount of smoke flavor and seasoning with onions. I only had the half order, and I saved half of it for the next day stir fried with rice and it was still bomb.com! Finished off with Gulab jamun - which was also superb. Massive kudos to this place. Thanks for the memory! Wish I had taken a picture. P.S. I appreciate that they had real mint in the water, and white tablecloths.
Incredible food and service. Karan and Mahaveer took good care of us. Very approachable staff. Mutter Paneer is highly recommended. Reminds me of authentic food back home. Ended up ordering twice. Must visit for anyone travelling through San Francisco, especially if looking for vegetarian options.
I had a wonderful experience at North India! The food was flavorful, authentic, and served fresh. Every dish had a perfect balance of spices, and the portions were generous. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were polite, attentive, and quick with service. Overall, a great place to enjoy delicious Indian cuisine — I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to others!
My mom and I visit San Francisco once a year and we love Indian food. This is the first Indian restaurant we have found that we truly love. We ordered the daal, chicken tikka masala, and vegetable samosas. Everything was incredible, perfect portions and robust flavors. Usually whenever I order “spicy” restaurants will assume I cannot handle it and bring a dish medium at the hottest. However, North India ACTUALLY listened to my request and made sure it was spicy. Excellent food, excellent service. Will definitely be returning!
The food has always been very tasty here but the interior of North Indian has gotten quite nice since the last time I visited. As always, it seems like crowds in this part of downtown haven't quite rebounded but i do North Indian getting pretty busy. The service is aways fantastic and friendly. It's definitely my goto neighborhood Indian cuisine locale.
I have visited the restaurant two times. Though Enterance is ordinary and not that impressive but inside ambience is fine. We tried buffet once and most of the items were tasting good. The second time we went in for Ala-carte menu and we ordered standard Makhani daal and Aloo Matar with salad etc. Taste of Daal was ok and Aloo matar was good. Hospitality Is very good. Overall excellent experience specially Indian food which I never thought I will get home food taste in San Francisco.
One of the finest Punjabi North Indian restaurants around! The chef’s experience truly shines through in the food — every dish is bursting with authentic flavor and cooked to perfection. I’d easily rate the food a 10/10. Located in the heart of downtown, this place stands out not only for its taste but also for its ambiance and service. Definitely one of the top spots to visit!
A very big thankyou to JASHN n PATAM for wonderful hospitality. Special thanks to cheff GURUDEVSINGH JI for making such amazing tasty food. Yes it’s expensive. But totally worth it. Quantity of food served is also fair and good. Their tandoori roti or bread was done 👍 I ordered vegetarian samosa ( too good) and yellow dal and tandoori roti. Extremely satisfying. First Indian restaurant in san Francisco I have fallen in love with. Guys Must try not only food but their staff hospitality too. All of them are very alert and quick and smiling and friendly. THANKYOU
As a North Indian, I highly recommend! Great service and great food. 10/10 raita and great veg samosa. Also went for seconds on the chutney :)

If you like $9 small pellegrino in a plastic bottle, this is the place for you! The food is good. Fish pakora, lamb and chicken appetizer and the saag paneer are all great. Chicken tikka masala was decent, but the chicken was a bit too cooked. Overall it's a good place for a meal. But please, skip the $9 sparkling water.
Amazing saag paneer my favorite dish. Good paneer tikka masala. Lamb was a bit dry but still good. Nice service and clean and nice seating with tableclothes. Would go back.

I'm Indian and I love indian food. The food is average. They need to improve their food quality. Music is too loud.

This is where you go if you want some Indian food fast and do not care about the quality or the service. The host was unenthusiastic and borderline rude. I can understand a service worker’s lack of enthusiasm, but it was overtly revealing. The food was mediocre at best. Some of the dishes weren’t warmed up as they were probably sitting there for a while. What’s worse was that not a single dish had the complex, saucy flavors that Indian cuisine offers. This was our experience for the lunch buffet. The a la carte dishes may offer a better experience.
Fairly standard Indian food. Could have used a bit more spice, but the meal was still yummy. Garlic naan is great. A bit on the pricey side for the portion size. Service is a whole mixed bag. Lots of rushing us for our orders and to pay the bill, but a snail-like pace when we try to flag them down. Confusing. Place is cramped as well. It's not bad, but I wouldn't recommend coming here honestly.

I recently visited North India in San Francisco with high hopes, eager to enjoy some authentic North Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, my experience was a tale of two very different parts: the breads were a highlight, while the main dishes were surprisingly disappointing. We ordered a few of the vegetarian staples to get a good sense of the menu: the yellow dal, navratan korma, paneer makhani, and vegetarian biryani. The main takeaway across the board was a noticeable lack of flavor. The Yellow Dal was particularly bland, tasting like simple boiled lentils without the rich, aromatic tempering of cumin, garlic, and red chili that makes a good dal so comforting. The Navratan Korma was another letdown. Instead of a creamy, fragrant gravy with a hint of sweetness and the complexity of nine different vegetables and nuts, the sauce was thin and flavorless. The vegetables themselves felt under-seasoned and lacked the rich taste you expect from a well-made korma. Similarly, the Paneer Makhani, a classic for a reason, was a shadow of what it should be. The gravy was one-dimensional and lacked the necessary balance of sweet tomato, spice, and cream that gives the dish its signature velvety texture. The Vegetarian Biryani was also a miss. It was dry, lacked the distinct aroma of rosewater and saffron, and the vegetables seemed like an afterthought rather than an integral part of the dish. It was more like spiced rice with some vegetables mixed in than a true, layered biryani. On a positive note, the breads provided a much-needed silver lining. The naan was excellent—perfectly cooked, with a soft, chewy interior and a beautiful, slightly crispy exterior from the tandoor. It was easily the best part of the meal and a testament to what the kitchen is capable of. The roti and alu paratha were average; they were functional but didn't stand out in the same way the naan did. In summary, while the naan was a definite high point, the core of the meal—the curries and the biryani—was unfortunately tasteless and mediocre. The dishes were missing the depth and soul that define North Indian cooking. I left feeling a bit let down, as there's so much potential for this restaurant to shine. For now, I would only recommend it for the great naan, and I hope the kitchen re-evaluates the seasoning and flavor profiles of their main courses.
This place is just a piece of nonsense. Neither it’s close to any Indian food nor the service. Uncooked naan and meat. Your naan comes like roti and of course not cooked fully as the outer side is fried and inside is raw. I have been to many Indian places and this the lowest quality and service I ever received. Staled batter in the naan and half cooked meat and sisters service. Finally it doesn’t deserve more than zero. If you still want to venture, good luck.
