Best veggie chicken on earth. Friendly staff, so convenient. Would never guess that a corner store could make such an amazing sandwich, but the owner is passionate about his work and is amazing.
we waited less than 10 minutes for 2 sandwiches and there were 5 customers ahead of us. timely service and friendly atmosphere. a little bit on the pricier side but so worth it. highly recommend walking to Delores park for a picnic afterwards!!
Holy Damn! Easily the best sandwich I've had in my 7 years in the city. These folks definitely know how to do it. They put their heart and soul into every single sandwich. I feel ashamed that I’ve walked by this place so many times without stopping in. Like so many great places to grub in the Bay, don’t let the humble exterior that suggest this is simply a convenience store fool you. These folks are putting out some of the best food you will get on Valencia and in the entire city.
The Valencia sandwich 🥪 is yummy! Great place to order picnic sandwiches by the phone and they are pretty quick and efficient despite being very busy on a Sunday lunchtime hours. Had always wanted to try their sandwich and I can see why people go!
Call in if you’re getting food during rush hour! We ordered in person and it took 45 min, but at least it was worth it! BBNG was fantastic with a perfect balance of savory and acidity. Hemingway is okay, but I wouldn’t try it again.
Excellent customer service. Blanca makes an AMAZING sandwich 🥪!
This might be my favorite deli in SF! Great peeps making delicious sammies! Try their home made kimchi! You won’t be disappointed😋
Amazing sandwiches. I had the Hamingway, the Valencia and the Korean steak one. All of them were delicious! The line can be long but it’s worth it. They also sell parents staples and drinks. It’s a great place to go on your way to one of the parks around there.
I’ve been going here since 2019. If they ever close, I’m moving cities. Best vegetarian sandwiches in the city hands down!!
This place has some of the best sandwiches in the Mission, possibly even the entire city of SF. Walk in and you'll see a very casual, no-frills deli with limited seating on the right-hand side (perfect for people-watching). Very friendly staff that will help you order (filling out the paper form) as needed. Fresh Acme bread, interesting combo's, liquor / chips / cereal / soda for days. I like the Judah, Valencia, and Korean steak sandwiches. This deli is an longstanding SF establishment - head in and pay your respects.
They make the best sandwiches ever! Always super fresh, friendly staff and the place is always really clean. My husband and i drive all the way from the east bay just to indulge in these amazing sandwiches and when we bought some for our friends out here they also started making the drive. Go and try everything on the menu, you will be hooked!
This is the BEST corner store! They have the absolute best sandwiches plus such an awesome selection of grocery goods and alcohol. The service is also unmatched, James is ALWAYS so kind, helpful and positive. We recently moved away and already miss the sandwiches!
Spectacular array of sandwiches. Pick one up for lunch almost every day! I know the workers and owner quite well, and they are all very kind! Favorite sandwiches have to go to the valencia or the Lucca!
Heard about this place from some friends that live around there. It definitely lives up to the hype! Had the Korean Sandwhich, which had sliced Kalbi meat and some spicy sauces. So good! The sandwiches are made to order and can take about 30 minutes as they have high volume of orders. It's worth the wait, and you can also call in orders. Tons of different sandwich options or build your own.
Always tasty and fresh. Sandwiches are consistent every time. I highly recommend the kimchi! It’s house made. Something I’ve always noticed is the cleanliness of the store, always spotless and seemingly full of products!! Amazing overall!!
Always order the Lucca Ravioli Co, on my way to Dolores Park. On point! They do not skimp on the mortadella, coppa and sopressa. My place to grab a to go sandwich. Their beer/ wine/ booze selection is also not bad and decently priced when you need something to grab for a day at the park.
Great turkey sandos to take on plane. Been coming here for years.Never disappointed. Nice selection of go-withs too.
Stopped by for a sandwich and was really impressed! They have a great deli tucked away inside this corner convenience store. They offer a large selection of sandwiches from their menu and also build your own sandwich.
Tucked away in the Mission, this hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop delivers way more than you’d expect. Fresh bread, big flavors, and generous portions make it a local treasure. The standout is the Valencia sandwich—savory, layered, and perfectly balanced. A true neighborhood classic.
Best sandwich in the city. Tons to select from, custom, and vegetarian meat options too! Got the vegetarian bbq chicken medium spicy and added cheddar cheese. Incredible! The acme bread is sooo good. Similar to a French bread. Highly recommend! The medium spicy had the perfect spicy level. I love spicy food and thought it was perfect. Wait was about 25-35 minutes though.
the bryant st. sandwich is really good. i can’t wait to come back and try the others! it was hard choosing just one. the staff are very friendly and the store has a great selection of drinks and snacks to go with your deli sandwich. EDIT: came back and had the panda sandwich—it was huge and delicious!
One of my top 3 favorite sandwich spots in San Francisco, Rhea’s Deli! Today, I picked up 15 sandwiches for my son’s birthday party. My favorites are the pastrami, ham and cheese, and turkey, all served on Dutch crunch bread – the perfect sandwich meal! Delicious food, great service, and everything about this place is amazing – if you can find parking!
Wow, this is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. All the flavors are well combined. Everything was so fresh, from the bread to all the toppings. My boyfriend and I were so impressed. We got the Barney Rubble, which is FANTASTIC. According to the person who works there, the top 3 are Valencia St, Barney Rubble, and @studio_dad. Perfect place to grab something filling and cheap for Dolores. Personally I got pretty full from only eating half of it but my for boyfriend it wasn’t enough.
Grabbed the Barney Rubble sandwich and had it at Dolores Park like most people suggested. Sandwich was delicious with all the right ingredients mixing well. Plenty of avocado, just enough sauce and cheese. Bread was crunchy but soft inside.
Hadn’t been here before today but I definitely will be coming back. I ended up getting the Bryant Steet, because my two initial choices weren’t available and I grew up on Bryant Street. The sandwich was well made with good Dutch crunch bread and quality meats. They also had a decent chip selection. I am very curious to try the other sandwiches to see how they stack up. You can tell this place is a local fave and that the owner is just as much a part of the community as his sandwiches. ***** I was disappointed to learn that their Korean & katsu sandwiches have been discontinued. The owner said they would be available only at certain times of the year. The owner said to rely on Twitter or FB to see when they would be available next.*****
I had the vegetarian BBQ chick'n sandwich without aioli to make it vegan and OMG! A delicious, quick, affordable lunch for a day at the park. This deli is nestled in a convenience store, so you can pick up a bag of chips and a cold drink to wash it down. The BBQ sauce was amazing, all the produce was fresh, and the protein was out of this world. In addition to the fast, friendly service, this place is a new fave lunch spot!
I’ll give one sentence, this review doesn’t require anything else. Best sandwich I’ve ever had in my entire life.
If you are looking for a great sandwich spot near Delores park, make sure you stop by Rhea’s! I ordered the Valencia St. and it was full of flavor and reasonably priced! Highly recommend this shop.

Really good deli sandwiches. Large selection of ingredient choices. Quick and friendly prep. Clean. Short walk to Mission Delores park, great place to eat your goodies.
i’ve probably gotten dozens of rhea’s sandwiches in my 5 years living in SF, delicious every time! i came by recently but didn’t have a non-Amex card, and I almost had to leave without getting anything but Blanca helped me figure something out THANK YOU BLANCA ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been coming to Rhea’s Sandwiches since 2012 and it still absolutely delivers. I’m a “make your own” person every time, and my go-to is turkey on a whole wheat roll — and honestly, their sweetened pickle is the little detail that seals it for me. It’s that perfect tangy/sweet bite that makes the whole sandwich pop. The consistency here is unreal. Huge shoutout to the crew behind the counter making the magic happen — you’re the reason this place stays one of the best sandwich spots in San Francisco.
Counter serve deli inside a corner market in San Francisco's Mission District. Had the 18th Street (buffalo chicken served hot) and the Buster Posey and both were fantastic. Great bread, good portions, good meat, good cheese and excellent flavor balance. Absolutely one of my favorite deli sandwich experiences, would wholly recommend. parking in the mission district can be tough, especially on the weekends, but the sandwiches from Rhea's are absolutely worth the hassle.
The sandwiches are hearty and delicious. Pro tip: buy the homemade kimchi from the back fridge! It’s so good
This is in the top 5 sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. The bread is amazing, the service is accommodating and friendly and the food comes out quick. We ordered vegetarian sandwiches that we modified to be vegan and they were mind blowing. Our friends from the area recommended it to us and we can’t wait to go back on our next visit. 10/10. Highly recommended!!!

Rhea's is up there, definitely in the top 20 joints in the city for sammies. It's a cross between Lou's in the Richmond and (the original) Ike's in the Castro: inventive and unique sandwich creations done up by some choice bread (never sleep on the bread, yo). The Korean Steak (marinated rib eye steak, cheddar cheese, red onions, house pickled red onions & jalapenos, lettuce, chili sauce, garlic aioli, served on acme organic sweet roll) is the must-try and it's legit spicy and super-flavorful. The bulgogi is a bit sweet and goes great with the chili sauce. like the Buster Posey ( pastrami (locally made) wrapped in pastrami, melted pepper jack, creamy slaw, roasted pepper & garlic aioli, kc style bbq sauce served on toasted french roll) because it's made with heaping cuts of pastrami and the aioli and bbq sauce pair perfectly with it.
This is a very unassuming liquor store looking deli. I actually passed it by when I was walking alone the night before and was surprised when my friend took me here the next day for a sandwich run. We split the Korean steak sandwich. It's just as amazing as everyone else makes it out to be. Spicy, meaty, cheesy, and bursting with complementing seasonings. Make a lunch run of this place and you won't be disappointed.
Friend wanted a sandwich from there. I had never been in there before. We looked online to find what sandwich he wanted. The prices listed was a bit more than $8. When I got there the price was about $12.50, much more than I realized. So the sandwich was very good but the cost was a bit high.
I'm on a mission to find a proper bodega in any city outside of Manhattan. And while Rhea's is not one, it is not entirely far off. You've got some pantry staples, snacks, cold drinks, beer & liquor, and a deli counter. It's all of... Questionable quality, but the spirit is there. The wood paneling and old bar decorations on the walls gives a sense of history too, which adds to the neighborhood charm.
Solid sandwiches with a ton of variety. They aren't remarkable in quality, quantity, or flavor. But the wide selection will be great for groups or if you're within a few blocks.
TLDR: great sandwich though a bit pricey and eating/waiting inside is like waiting in a stove We ordered the freak 55 named after Tim lincecum and the sandwich was great! Healthy amount of pastrami, great spice with the kimchi and peppercinis, nice pickled onions to round out the flavor and the sauce was flavorful. We ate inside but I immediately had to go outside after because it was so stuffy. And the sandwich after a small tip came out to $20 which is a bit pricey for a sandwich without avocado

I ordered the Barney Rubble and the Valencia. Both sandwiches tasted really good. I would have to say that I enjoyed them and the taste is not the reason for a 3 start rating. The sandwich was very small in comparison to another fav of mine, little luccas or even Ike’s. If the sandwich came in a larger size I’d give it a higher rating but for the size and price 3/5.
The pick up estimate was delayed for 10 minutes, then it was delayed again upon arriving at store to pick up. Ended up with a 35 minutes delay through uber eats 😱 stressful experience. Ue language was vague… showing in app that it was “probably ready” The sandwich was fine. Expect delay if ordering through an app.
I've been coming here for years and the sandwiches are usually very good, so it pains me to write this but I've noticed some slippage in the service. I think overall they are quite understaffed which is leading to some problems. First of all, the waiting times have gotten longer and longer—not a ding in and of itself, truly a testament to the fact that the sandwiches are great! But it is a noticeable and increasing problem. More importantly, I've noticed that they increasingly ignore or forget about my requests for substitutions. Today, I asked for a sandwich with Dutch Crunch bread to substitute for their normal Acme Roll. Usually not a big deal. But when I got the sandwich, they hadn't made the substitution. When I was speaking to the crew about this, I saw fresh Dutch Crunch rolls behind the counter and asked about them. They said they were reserved for a "large order". I have no idea what that really means, but it does make me feel a bit like a second-class customer to see that. Not to mention they didn't tell me they were "out" of Dutch Crunch when I ordered, so I could have chosen another type of bread or canceled the order at the outset—they just made the default sandwich and assumed I would be alright with it. Again, this is not to knock the food. But I do wish they could improve the attentiveness of the service.
