Opinions de Savor San Francisco
Just got back from my birthday dinner and I cannot express to you how happy I am. I had tears in my eyes because there was so much flavor in every dish. Most vegetarian/vegan restaurants do not have the depth of flavor in even one of their dishes. But Savor had flavor in everything we had. We ordered 2 specials (see the one photo I took because everything was so delicious we forgot to take photos!), 2 tapas from the regular menu and 2 desserts. We also had 2 glasses of wine. But even with all the food and drinks, it came out to only about 65 dollars per person for this celebratory dinner. The chef/owner is amazing and the quality of food is what you expect from a fine dining experience but with a neighborhood friendly smile. Thank you, thank you 🩵
This place was an absolutely amazing find. Its been there for around 2 years. The menu is fully vegan with focus on Yemenese cuisine. All the offerings are Tapas style( small plates) many for sharing. We ordered about 6-7 dishes. 1. potato and sage torte 2. Wild mushrooms knaffe 3. Bakhlava 4. Falafel croquettes 5. Roasted cauliflower 6. House special ( collard green stew with lentils and pita) ( not on the menu), 7. Yemenese spice tea ( made from oatmilk), 8. Blueberry tart with toasted almonds. All the dishes were absolutely finger-licking delicious. The balance of flavors were amazing. I loved the house special collard green stew , the mushroom knaffe , potato torte and blueberry torte with almonds. The mushroom flavors in the knaffe was intense and that was something I absolutely loved. It came with a red pepper sauce which was equally delicious. The highlight for me was the house special collard green stew with lentils. It was suggested by the chef with great confidence and we ordered it based on that. The stew was rich, balanced in tens of spice level. It was very well complemented by the barbecued lentils and the pita to wipe it all from the plate 😀. At the end of the meal, when we thought we were full, the chef offered a blueberry torte ( on the house) and to accompany that, we ordered the Yemenese chai . I was absolutely surprised my the torte which had a great balance of sweetness , with the nutty flavor from toasted almonds which all complimented the blueberry flavor. The chai was mild but all the spice came through very well. Overall it was a great dining experience ( something that will start in my memory for a long time).
TLDR: great food at fair prices We ordered a mushroom wrap that came with a hot soup and a sampler platter that came with a gazpacho cold soup. Everything tasted great, I was most thoroughly impressed with the falafel as it was flavorful and not dry. My gf really liked the cold soup
One of the best restaurants we have been to, in a very long time! We were looking for a vegetarian spot and Savor is such an amazing local gem. The chef was really fun and took care of our group of 5. We ordered 5 dishes and each and every bite was delicious and SAVOR-y! Don't skip the soup they offer with the entrees. Also, there's a mean green sauce you're gonna fall in love it. Just let it happen! :)
Savor Cafe might just be my favorite restaurant in the city. The food feels home made - you can feel the effort put in to each dish. I’m vegan and appreciate how nearly every dish is already vegan and those that aren’t mostly all can be adjusted. I’ve been numerous times now and have never been disappointed. The menu switches up fairly often using seasonal vegetables which makes it always a new experience. Each dish is unique and has helped me find new flavors I enjoy and overcome previous biases I held for others. Really recommend the spanish melt sandwich! The owner is incredibly kind and knowledgeable - he’s usually always telling jokes and has been very generous to me after he’s recognized me coming in regularly. Check it out, you won’t regret it!
I can’t believe we just discovered Savor Cafe SF—it’s absolutely fantastic! As someone who grew up in a Middle Eastern household, I often miss the flavors I loved as a child since my partner is vegan and I’m vegetarian. But Chef Mohamed has masterfully reimagined traditional dishes into plant-based delights without compromising on authenticity. Every bite is packed with rich, familiar flavors. I can’t wait to bring family and friends to experience this gem. Run, don’t walk!
I consider myself a soup girl, and the cauliflower lavender soup was the best soup I have had in San Francisco, if not the world. All the other dishes were amazing as well. My (non-veg) boyfriend loved the mushroom knaffe. Owner/Chef Mo was incredibly welcoming and fun to talk to - we felt like VIPs being checked on by the chef. This was the fanciest meal either of us have had in a while and we had no idea what elevated fare, depth of flavor, and beautiful platings were in store for us when we stopped for a leisurely Sunday lunch. Do not pass ‘go’ - come straight to this restaurant!!!
I came here with my partner and we were genuinely impressed by the food, service and the atmosphere. The space is clean, cozy, and welcoming, with a cultured home kitchen feel rather than the usual sf café style. Our waiter (who I suspect might be the owner) was very personable and even memorized our order. He recommended the Hodo Tofu Sougar, which was excellent! It was flavorful, hearty, and filling. We also got the café mocha and jackfruit sandwich, both of which were very tasty as well. It is rare for me to give a full 5/5 in this city, especially for a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, but this place truly deserves it. I really enjoyed the “mom and pop” feel to it and the food tasted like an excellent home cooked meal made with a lot of care and intention.
I really enjoyed the well-prepared and innovative cuisine! Fresh ingredients of the season, skillful preparation, and gentle but rich flavors make every dish a delight. The welcoming owner/chef is quiet, kind and inviting. The fresh baked almond croissants were excellent. The mujumara, lentil soup and fattoush salad were all Arabic comfort foods, accessible to any palate. Most if not all of the food was vegan (not sure about the feta on the fattoush), though I’m not sure I would have guessed that from the dishes. I could eat here every day and will certainly make the trip across town again. The restaurant can be busy so maybe make a reservation if you can. Wonderful!!
Everything was great, though smaller tapas portions. Favorites were Hodo Todu Sougar and the house special split pea soup
We visited the Bay Area for four days and were just looking for a vegan lunch spot. Instead, we found this gem and ended up eating there twice in those four days—plus ordering more to take back to LA! Everything we tried was full of flavor and texture, and you can truly feel that it’s cooked with love. The owner is always present, interacting with customers, which adds even more charm to the place. My absolute favorite was the knaffe—I had always wanted to try it but had never seen a vegan version before! The mushroom shawarma was also incredible. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and will be coming back next time I’m in the Bay Area. Thank you, Mohamed!
This! Is! It!!!!!!! This is the veggie place I have been waiting for. When people say "I didn't even miss the meat" this is the type of food they are talking about : delicious, full of flavor, creative, and high quality ingredients. The menu is tapas style. I went with just my partner but I wish we brought friends so we could have tried more dishes. We ordered a bunch of dishes and dug into them so fast I didn't get many photos, but I will be back again next week so I will try to add more then. We had this delicious garlicky garbanzo and potato soup to start, followed by the baby beet salad (my top dish! I don't know how they get the beets so flavorful!!!), the mushroom pate had a really delicate but deep umami flavor, and the trumpet scallop dish was ....just wow. It didn't look like scallops, but it was insanely good. We had the chocolate bread pudding and blueberry tart for dessert. I already can't wait to go back. Bonus: really good chill music.

I am not a vegetarian or vegan but this was fantastic food. We ate 9 different dishes and each one was absolutely amazing. The owner was as great as the food. I can't wait to bring all my vegetarian friends here. They will surely love it as much as we did.
Savor is a delight for anyone who enjoys deliciously prepared vegetarian food. We came with friends who had highly recommended Savor and the food bowled us over. Each plate was fresh and nuanced with flavors. We'll be back!
My friend said that savor was her favorite restaurant and I finally got to go with her. I was blown away by every dish. The chef is tinkering with vegan ingredients in new ways that kept delighting us. So glad to live in a city that has innovative vegan food like this. Definitely come try the mushroom knafeh and definitely get dessert. We got the knafeh dessert and loved it.
The food was absolutely amazing; incredibly fresh, unique, and packed with flavor. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully balanced. The owner and staff were so generous and welcoming, which made the entire experience even better. We had a fantastic time and can’t wait to come back.
I prefer a plant-based diet and I think Savor serves the best vegan/vegetarian dishes anywhere. The menu is filled with dishes that require extraordinary talent to prepare. Even if you favor animal protein, you won't miss it at Savor. Along with being a culinary genius, the chef-owner welcomes guests into his intimate space and waits on tables, easygoing and friendly.
Exquisite food in a cozy setting. Have had two delicious meals at Savor, with every mouthful a culinary delight. The chef owner does magic with vegetables, lentils and spices turning out mouthwatering sharing plates. Best to make a reservation and be prepared to get what you get, it’s not a menu or establishment that lends itself to substitutions or alterations to what is offered. It’s veggie magic in my opinion masterfully served by a somewhat salty owner.

I took my family over to Savor cafe on a quick stop near GG park. We were looking for a vegan/vegetarian restaurant we haven't tried before and stumbled on this cozy and quiet cafe. Mohammad was an excellent host and found a way to seat us quickly despite being the only one at the front taking orders in the cafe. Food-wise, everything came out in a timely manner. A majority of the items come in sharable formats. I'd recommend the mushroom soup, roasted vegetables, and the green avocado melt. The food is super unique and none of the flavors are super strong or spicy. Give this restaurant a try!
Fresh, hearty, delicious, Yemeni dishes that we can't get enough of. Mohammed is a culinary artist. The soups = incredible, the desserts = perfection. Everything we've had here is unique and wonderful. We love the cozy vibe, the personal touches and consistent high quality. Cannot recommend more!
I don't rate places that sell animal products higher than four stars, but this was probably the hardest decision to keep that rule for this place. Would easily give five stars if their menu ever went fully plant-based. -Orzo Dish with tofu - 10/10 -green spinach melt - 9.5/10 great -Jackfruit shawarma - 9/10 great -Tofu shawarma - 9/10 great -Mujadara - 9.5/10 excellent -Sharing dip of fava beans and veggies with pita with a orange hot sauce side - 7.5/10 very good -Bastilla - 9.5/10 excellent (I think this was the name, is was like a veggie-filled round phylo dough filled with veggies atop a orange sauce) -Cabbage rolls with yogurt - 8.5/10 great, could have used a bit more salt though. -Savor platter - 9/10 great -Tofu sougar - 6.5/10 good -potato and sage torte made vegan - 8.5/10 great -cold Spanish soup - 7/10 good -Split pea soup - 8.5/10 great -almond croissant - 9.5/10 excellent Super appreciate that everything on the menu can be made vegan

I ordered Uber eats from this restaurant. They wrapped a soupy dish in a paper container, then put it in plastic wrap. Unfortunately, the paper box seemed to eat a little more than I did. It’s okay because the food wasn’t great. This is the Artichoke and Pea Tagine. Does this look like $18 worth of food to you? I also posted the menu photo, for comparison.
Racist place???!!!! We (minority couple with 2 kids) were screamed at and driven out of this place! Me(woman) and my husband entered with our 2 kids young kids, one infant and one toddler. The owner gave us a rude look and did not even offer to help with the highchair. My kids were quiet and as we were sitting, he comes over and asks us to leave because "it's a small place and we have kids". We were shocked and then saw our neighboring table with a kid as well and asked the owner why they were allowed. At that point, he yelled "Get out of my place, man. This is torture." He kept screaming loudly. And we left. My daughter who is 3 asks as we left "why were we asked to leave, mumma". She was so scared, and we are still shocked and processing. --------------------------------------- I see the owner has replied to my comment above. I would like to ask "how is a kid sitting quietly in her highchair" termed as disruption ? The racism is the question here. I think asking a family "if their kids would behave" before seating is highly inappropriate, especially when kids have not made one sound. When we asked the owner if he had asked the same question to the family seated adjacent, he said "yes I asked and they said their kid would behave". When we were asked to leave, we asked the other family if the owner had asked them if their kid would behave before seating them, and they said no he did not. That's when we realized that the owner is targeting us and getting us kicked out before seating. When I told the owner what the other family told us, he screamed loudly that 'just get out. This is my place. This is torture'.
Hiiieee! The food is okay, as people have already mentioned…The service is possible the Worst I have experienced in the Bay Area & definitely the city & that’s saying something, don’t be fooled! if you are alternative or of a minority you might not be treated well. I go out to eat for the atmosphere & when I leave feeling like a worthless customer I really don’t care if the food is five stars , I will not be returning for another serving of micro aggression. Thank you the appropriate amount of much!
