Been going here for years and it's my favorite restaurant ever! Nice, welcoming staff and even better food. I always look forward to coming here and it's my go to for everything! Couldn't recommend it enough!

Okazu ya has been around for decades. While it has been a number of years since the last time I visited, it remains as solid as I remember. This truly is a neighborhood go-to for Japanese bento.

A cozy place for great sushi. My wife and I love the Chilean sea bass as well.

This is the neighborhood hit for a sushi restaurant. Always excellent service and fresh, delicious food! Have the Blue fin Toro if you can, it's absolutely divine!

Decided to eat at this restaurant, and was highly impressed with the serving sizes, and extremely nice staff. Ordered the chicken katsu, and loved the dish for the nice crisp, flavor, and not too salty. As aforementioned, the staff were quite personal, and frequently checking on us, attending to other patrons. Would highly recommend this place!

It's a very nice cozy place for some Japanese dishes and sushi. I highly recommend their clam ramen as it is a very unique dish that is special to this restaurant. For this dish they serve you a ridiculously large amount of clams in a bowl of heavenly, savory ramen broth with strong hints of ginger. As for the sushi rolls, nothing really stands out from the sushi but that's not a bad thing considering all the other amazing items on the menu. Such as their dinner plates. For example their Fried mackerel really hits the spot with its crispy exterior, soft fluffy interior, and generous side of peas and bean sprouts and comes with miso soup too. They also offer a large variety of combo trays for sushi that would easily serve and satisfy large parties. Lastly I would also recommend their dozen oysters, that come with topped with fish eggs along with optional Japanese sauce (forgot the name) and lemon. As for the staff, the chef is always greeting and saying goodbye to everyone from his cook station near the front of house and is a very lovable man. The waiters and waitresses are extremely attentive and friendly too. I'm very glad I found this place. Would highly recommend, a true San Francisco gem.

2nd time we are here, order the Salmon dish , it was really well done , fresh , great seasoning the best no dry or burnt . Love it 😍😋. The Oder was a chicken Teriyaki combo with salmon sashimi , tempura , some order of unagi and Crazy roll ( unagi with sashimi) at the end the entree got ice cream 😋

I know this place for a many years. My family loves to come here for dinner. Their sashimi are good. My son doesn't eat sashimi, but he loves seafood. They have different types of fishes dish plates that he looks forward to whenever we come over from Livermore. The staffs are very nice.

Ordered tonkatsu and left satisfied. Meal came with a pot of hot tea, fresh salad, miso soup and ice cream.

Dirty sticky tables, old Dusty sauce containers, food is ok, a little below average for sf. Hard to find parking. Definitely can find better.

Ben always greets us and everyone else with a great smile, food is good, portion size is normal. As for ordering to go, add on an additional 10 to 15 minutes of quote time. so if they said your order will be ready to be picked up in 30 minutes, you may still need to wait 10 to 15 minutes. so be aware!

The ramens are cheap. The tonkotsu soup is pretty bland and does taaste that great. The clam ramen is pretty flavorful.

Got the Okazu Ya teishoku which I figured should be the right choice if they put their name on it; nooooope. It had scallops (fried, with a double batter crust that would put hush puppies in New Orleans to shame for thickness), sashimi (pretty decent), tempura (again double battered and I couldn’t finish it because I couldn’t taste what was under the batter and the oil was starting to be all I could taste) and a little salad with a dressing that sort of reminded me of crab Louie. I am lactose intolerant and am a bit scared about how that salad dressing will go down. Overall not what I expected or was hungry for. Interior of the restaurant was also weirdly dirty, which doesn’t make sense to me for a Japanese place? Overall I cannot recommend the food but the service was top notch and was very warm and attentive.

Outdated, dirty, sticky, smelly restaurant. Looks like they haven't changed a thing since the 1990's! All the sushi rolls fell apart. The sushi rice has too much vinegar and sugar. I witnessed a female employee walking while carrying a plate of fried chicken in her left hand and eating one piece in her right hand. It wasn't a pretty sight.

We decided we wanted to try out a new spot in the neighborhood as were pretty devoted to our usual sushi spot. This place looked great and we were excited. We walked in and it was crowded. Unfortunately literally not one of the at least 6 employees visible to us made any eye contact or said a word to us. We were forced to stand in the middle of a crowded restaurant (along with 4 other parties who came in after us) where we waited to be acknowledged for 15 minutes!!! We walked out without anyone having said anything. Very disappointed as the food looked good and it seemed like a popular place.

I went to this restaurant for the first time today with a friend. I ordered a combo dinner and my friend ordered a medley of appetizers and unique sushi. We had two major problems: one, there was a metal piece in my salad, which I immediately showed to the waiter. Second, my friends order was not as described. The item was removed from my friends order, but no other effort was made to comp her meal order or simply offer some other comped nigiri. When I got my bill, I asked the waiter if he was sure that he wanted to bill me the full amount, which i don’t even think I should have to ask. He went to check with The owner, and came back with a $3 comp of my total bill. It was insulting and terrible service (I work in the food industry and know how this works). I will never go back and do not recommend this place to anyone who values their health (what if I had swallowed that small metal sliver?) or values service in their restaurants. I’m only sorry that I didn’t think to take a picture of the sliver of metal.
