The ultimate cheeseburger looked and tasted good with lots of sauce.
I was cutting across Geary Blvd like I owned it...It was just after 6am as I pulled up to the Jack in the Box, and I knew right away I'd be in for a treat! It was Barnicle Bob the Boatsman's Mate on the Trawler Fibber Jack that told me about the best breakfast sandwich ever. He said get there when they first open..talk to the cook directly and get the grilled sourdough bacon, egg and cheese sandwich like you make for Barnicle Bob every day. It's not not on the menu..but it should be...It's Amazing! ☆☆☆☆☆
Our 1st experience at Jack. Front counter staff was very helpful as we decided on what to try. Food came out quickly, hot and very fresh ingredients. We're looking forward to trying more of what Jack in the Box has to offer during future visits to the West Coast.
All was good just was really hard to find a parking spot to leave the car to order food. In front of stoy all parking areas was painted red! All there is downtown should be the way people be able park to order food. That night I fund a motel room to book online by 68$ but the parking was 50$.
The staff is always friendly and kind to all demographics from what I can see. Reasonably priced unlike most other fast foods in the city.
Granted I only ordered for pick up but I’m very happy to say that the search for the best tom kha soup in San Francisco for me is over!!! It was bomb!!! The consistency of the coconut soup was just right (not too thick, not too runny) and the taste was divine!!! Hefty amount of chicken as well. Mild is spicy enough for me. The restaurant is tiny (hole in the wall-type) but decent seating. I cannot recommend The Thonglor SF enough located on Geary after Mason. Worth coming back for sure! 😋👌🏼
Hands down, the best Pad Thai I've had in a long time! Loaded with chicken, tofu, and egg. The noodles were more of a garnish than a filler! This is how Pad Thai should be! I ordered takeout online and it was ready when I arrived about 15 minutes later. I love that you can see the kitchen working thru the front window! Like many have said, the restaurant is small, but cozy inside. So you might have to wait for a seat, but takeout is easy. The prices are very reasonable too. I'll be ordering again when I spend the night in the city!
Are two meals here in the week we were in SF - it was that good! Simple and delicious food. Affordable prices and generous portions. Quick, efficient and helpful service. We loved the yellow curry specifically! And also enjoyed everything else we tried! Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area!
The Thonglor has been on my list of wanting to try for awhile, but I also try to stay out of the Union Square area (not due to crime, but lack of parking), so when an opportunity arose, I took it! I needed to get a quick lunch so I ordered the Pad Gra Pow with ground pork along with Thai Iced Coffee. The Pad Gra Pow was phenomenal! I ordered it without the bell peppers, but each bite got more and more delicious. I found myself shoveling the food into my belly without making attempts to breathe. Delicious!!! This unassuming restaurant has limited seating inside but the service team is friendly and quick, sometimes too quick (they overlooked giving me utensils when the food arrived). If you’re in the Union Square area, plan a stop here, you won’t regret it!
If you think paradise is just a beach with a cocktail, wait until your taste buds crash-land at The ThongLor SF — the tiny Thai treasure that’s making big waves in San Francisco’s foodie scene! I stumbled in solo on a business trip, but honestly, this cozy hole-in-the-wall with about 8 tables felt like a bustling family reunion (only with way better food and zero awkward small talk). The kitchen is right up front, so you get a front-row seat to the culinary magic — watching your meal get crafted is like a live cooking show, but better because you get to eat the finale. Now, let’s talk food: Tom Yum Soup that’s so perfectly balanced it practically sings “Sawasdee ka!” to your soul. The pineapple fried rice? A symphony of veggies, cashews, and tofu that had me wondering if I’d accidentally landed in Bangkok. And vegetarians, rejoice! With two whole pages of vegetarian and vegan options, this place is basically your new spiritual home. The staff? Superstars. Friendly, attentive, and clearly running the show like a well-oiled family machine. They got me seated, sorted, and served faster than you can say “Pad Thai, please!” Fancy? Nope. Worth it? Absolutely. If you’re in SF and craving Thai that hits all the right notes without breaking the bank, The ThongLor SF is your go-to. I’m already plotting my next visit — and you should be too! **Pro tip:** Come hungry, bring friends, and prepare to fall in love with Thai food all over again. 🌶️🍍🥢
This is one of the best Thai experiences I’ve ever had. The place is super crowded and a little disorganized but once you’ve had the food it’s all worth it. Layers and layers of flavour in everything from their salads to their noodles to their soup. It’s hard to describe but it’s the perfect combo of sweet sour and spicy. My only gripe was the amount of sodium in this food, I was super thirsty the rest of the night after having it. I would highly recommend the papaya salad, fish cakes, Tom yum soup and pad see ew.
Came here late at night, to my amazement they made a nice burger. Took ages to get served, I think all the servers thought all the people in the line were just killing time. The burger was fresh made and hot with fresh ingredients. Nice taste and for an Aussie the small combo is a large meal.
Surprisingly good - try the buttery jack so creamy and buttery and good! The service is quite fast and the food is also fairly good for a fast-food price. Not ashamed to admit it but I had this for lunch for 4 days straight! Place could be slightly cleaner though although it is by no means dirty.
It's super small, so we usually only come here for takeout, but if you want to wait for an open table there's about 8 tables in the back of the restaurant that are almost always full, at least when I visit here. The pad thai is next level, with perfect chewy noodles and packed with a tangy-sweet-salty balance that had us going "whoa" with every bite. The Tom Kha soup our go to for rainy days as my comfort soup for the soul. We also crushed the som tum (papaya salad) – super fresh, nose-clearing spicy (ask for Thai hot if you're brave!), the panang curry was rich and creamy, and the pad gra pow with ground pork was sweet-spicy perfection. Everything tasted authentic and fresh, with big portions and great vegan options too. Staff was friendly, vibe is cozy and bustling (perfect pre-theater spot across from Curran), and it's open late – bonus!
GET THE PADKEEMAO! There was a long line to get into this place but it was worth waiting every second. The serving size is pretty big and getting 3 dishes for 3 people was actually a lot of food. The curries were also great. True definition of a hole in the wall but it’s a gem. The mango sticky rice was interesting….
⸻ I recently had the chance to dine at Thonglor, a Thai restaurant tucked away in Union Square, San Francisco, and it turned out to be an absolute delight. From the moment I stepped in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for what was going to be a memorable meal. The décor struck a nice balance between modern and traditional Thai influences, making the space feel both cozy and elegant. The menu offered a wide range of classic Thai dishes along with some creative takes that caught my eye. I opted for their signature Pad Thai along with a green curry, and both dishes showcased authentic flavors with a refined touch. The Pad Thai had the perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and nutty notes, with fresh shrimp and just the right amount of crunch from the peanuts. The green curry was aromatic and rich, with tender chicken and vegetables that soaked up the velvety coconut-based sauce beautifully. To complement the food, I tried one of their cocktails, and it impressed me with its fresh and vibrant flavor—fruity without being overly sweet, making it a great match with the spiciness of the curry. The service was another highlight: attentive, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu, with helpful suggestions that elevated the whole experience. What really stood out was the balance of authenticity and creativity in their cooking. It felt like traditional Thai food made with a modern San Francisco twist. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality of ingredients was evident in every bite. Overall, Thonglor is a wonderful spot for anyone craving Thai food in the heart of the city. Whether you’re looking for a casual dinner or a place to take friends for a special meal, it’s a restaurant I’d happily return to.
This is one of those little neighborhood spots that's small, and cozy with friendly service that makes you feel welcome as soon as you step inside. The food was good, and they give you generous portions, making it a really satisfying and well-priced meal. For a simple, tasty, and pleasant dining experience, this place is a definite win.
Overall, it was an average experience. As someone with Southeast Asian taste buds, I tend to be more particular when it comes to Thai cuisine. The papaya salad was excellent and hit the mark. However, the Tom Yum lacked depth of flavor and was too plain and sour for my liking. Our chicken curry was somewhat chewy. I've experienced better at other restaurants. On the positive side, the atmosphere of this family-owned restaurant was heartwarming. I hope they can improve the quality of their food in the future.
First time eating jack-in-the-Box and honestly I didn't really taste the food much, not because it was necessarily bad or anything, I just wish I had gotten it to go. I was so sketched out by the other people around and was scarfing down the food to get out as quick as possible. I went to other restaurants in the area and the inside was normal and felt safe, but this particular Jack-in-the-box did not have that same feel. This part of the city in general made me so uncomfortable even walking around in daytime I was extremely on guard. So if you want to get food here either get it via a food delivery service or get it to go.
The burger is really good, way better than the big burger chains. The curled fries were a surprise (probably for us, who came from Europe). The only detail that pushed us back, was the prices. Do not trust the prices they have on display on the back top or the kitchen. We were charged more than that.
This is a really interesting place to be late at night in downtown San Francisco. The personnel are friendly it's just a weird vibe hard to explain. Felt safe and the food is good, just an after dinner snack.
I had the chicken nuggets and they were really tasty. Someone in my party had the chicken strips and it was a ripoff, $18 for dry chicken. The burgers were delicious! Service was really disappointing, staff were paying a attention but they were at least fast. The atmosphere was terrible because of the construction and it was really dark but maybe it will be better once they finish the job.
Fraudulent pricing. The meal I ordered is listed at $11.99 I had the regular combo swapped for seasoned fries .60 upcharge... Somehow the total before tax was $15.38... the math doesn't math...
Oh my goodness , I would like to order at the 12:40 but they said they close I’m so confusing so you close at 1 am or close at12:40
The service was decent, but the food was horrible. Not sure if I was just unlucky that day, but it was really bad. The tacos were uneatable, beyond disgusting. Mind you that it says munchie meal and not even high I could enjoy it.
Terrible is an understatement for this place. Every order from both locations on Geary have been wrong every single time. Doesn't matter if it's delivered or take out, it sucks. I've spoken to the GM and then went back after a month; same old bs. If you must have Jacks, go to the Bayshore location, better food, better service; there is a reason the line goes down the block at this spot!
Hecka Gross now.it should be zero stars.my burger bun was burnt the burger had a whole bunch of mustard and it was sloppy and gross. Who ever prepared bother burger left catchup/mustard prints on the white paper that wrapped the burger i mean cmon. Epic fail.. i would have fired someone foe doing that. I didn't eat the burger it looked gross and was gross.hire new people...every body who goes in that store isn't a homeless person who doesn't know what good food is.i.prove the quality. Your a disgrace to jack n the boxI
HAIR WAS IN MY FOOD WONDER WHY LOOK AT THEM NO HAIR NETS NOTHING!! Counting money at the front counter !! ATTITUDES !!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !! She wanted TO FIGHT THREATEN TO COME OUTSIDE!!! Will be calling corporate!!!!
The location and service were great up until I received my order and pointed out the excessive amount of sauces. Then I got an attitude from the cashier who said it wasn't his job to hear complaints and then called the cook so I could tell her. Then she gave me an attitude and said, "Okay, next time." Save your money or eat at Pinecrest across the street. They are delicious!
They never got my order correct the last 10+ times I've ordered here. They fix my order when I get the wrong items or missing items, but it would be great if the order was correct the first time they made it...
They completely did my uber eats order wrong. Just because it's a late night order does not make it okay to serve customers with completely incorrect orders. It came falling apart with lettuce on top of a hamburger bun? Come on. Seriously? Don't order from this store.
