Opinions de Wang Dae Bak San Francisco
Had a great dinner at Bay Pocha in San Francisco. We ordered the bossam and chicken gizzards, and both were excellent. The bossam was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, especially when paired with the fresh greens and sauces. The chicken gizzards were flavorful, well-cooked, and had a great texture—definitely one of the highlights of the meal. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff made us feel very welcome throughout the night. Portions were generous, side dishes were fresh, and everything came out in a timely manner. Overall, great food, great service, and a fun Korean pocha-style atmosphere. I’d absolutely come back and would highly recommend this spot
First timer here and everything was deliciousl I really liked their mushroom banchan. They have a long table in the middle of the restaurant, so they can accommodate large parties. They played a lot of Kpop Demon Hunter. Army Stew ($58.95) - Huge portion. Could've done with less rice cake/rice balls. Seafood Pancake ($22.95) - Crispy and flavorful. One of my favorite dishes. Chicken Wings ($22.95) - Juicy and crispy. Yum. Braised Pork Belly ($55.95) - Apparently a special menu item, but they always serve it. Came with lettuce and like 5 garlic slices. Galbi ($43.95) - No complaints here. Kimchi Fried Rice ($19.95) - Was nice to have rice to eat with the meat, but I've had better.
Yum Loved the Bossam and chicken gizzard. Soju with soda and lemon is a must— it’s fantastic! Highly recommend this place for authentic Korean food.
The vibe at Bay Pocha is loud. The restaurant was full at 8pm with a line outside. It is mostly college age people. The food here is OK. We had the wings $22, spicy wings $24, kimchi fried rice $19, pork belly $32, jap chae $19, bulgogi $35, seafood pancake $21, spicy pork $33 and rice cake $19. The one standout dish was the wings. That was great. Not the spicy wings, that was meh. I love it when the sizzling iron plate dishes come out of the kitchen. You can smell that intoxicating sweet Korean BBQ meat aroma. That was awesome. Service was friendly.
Here’s everything we ordered: 👉🏻Half and Half Fried Chicken Wings $23.95 I only ate the non-spicy ones and those were delicious! It’s fried to perfection and each piece was so big, so meaty :) It came with a side of salad & radish. The dish didn’t just come with chicken wings but drumettes as well. 👉🏻Soft Tofu Soup $18.95 I chose the non-spicy level, it comes with grounded beef and seafood. This is the most flavorful Korean tofu soup I’ve ever had. The broth is so rich and really taste like they’ve been boiling this for hours. They also give a lot of tofu, beef and seafood. 👉🏻Korean Miso Stew $20.95 My mom ordered this and this was such a big portion! This can definitely be shared between 2 people if you aren’t to hungry. It came with plenty of seafood as well, this one had a lot of squid compared to the Soft tofu soup. 👉🏻Hot Stone Bibimbap $22.95 My partner ordered this one, this was also a pretty big portion and came with plentiful toppings. It’s always fun to mix everything together and eat it in one bite.
Everything was delicious! The glazed pig feet were beautifully presented, super flavorful, and the portion was generous enough to feed two people. The corn cheese was fresh, tasty, and nicely presented. Reliable service and convenient experience overall—definitely ordering again! Just make sure you heat it up before you eat if you’re getting it delivered like me!(:
I recently had lunch at Bay Pocha in San Francisco and it was a fantastic experience. I ordered the Galbi and Soft Tofu Soup. The Galbi was just amazing – it was tender, marinated perfectly, and cooked just right. It’s clear they use high-quality ingredients. The Soft Tofu Soup was the perfect comfort food, with a rich, savory broth that was both hearty and flavorful. The atmosphere of the place added to the dining experience. It was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for both friends and family. Service was also top-notch. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. I'm definitely coming back and would recommend Bay Pocha to anyone looking for delicious Korean food in SF. It’s a gem that’s worth checking out!
Absolutely fantastic! The dalbal was a delightful explosion of rich and savory flavors, cooked to perfection, while the army stew was hearty and packed with a variety of ingredients that created a wonderful, comforting meal. The service was impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff who ensured we had everything we needed. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic cuisine. Five stars!
Bay pocha is my favorite spot for late night eats. I’ve came here several times and had a great experience every time. Their pork back bone soup aka gamjatang is exceptional. I’ve never had better at any other korean restaurant. I also always get the kimchi seafood pancake. Very flavorful, crispy on the outside, chewy and soft on the inside. They also have galbijjim (korean braised shortribs) for a fraction of the price of Daeho’s and tastes even better with cheese. Super tender and flavorful. Every time I have came to Bay Pocha, I have been greeted and treated with exceptional service. One of the servers, Chris, was very friendly and helpful with choosing what to order. Bay Pocha is a great place for late night eats because the music is always the best kpop songs and it’s a cute cozy and lively place to eat at.
I think this is the best Ramen I’ve ever had! I got the spicy Ramen, a fried egg and dumplings! It’s freezing cold outside right now and raining and it hit the spot! It’s enough for lunch tomorrow! Maybe breakfast I might not be able to wait! I highly recommend coming here and enjoying the atmosphere and amazing food! Bring a jacket though. Customer service is top-notch. I dropped one chopstick and in seconds the servers saw, and I had another one in hand within seconds.
One of the better Korean food/drinking joint in San Francisco. Vibe is fun, staff is super friendly, food is amazing, and the drinks are, well, drinks 👍🏻 I've only been here a couple times but definitely planning on returning soon to try the rest of their extensive menu. Recommended!!
My partner and I stumbled upon this cute “hole in the wall” restaurant. Loved the lighting and ambience. Customer service was 10/10! Our waitress was wonderful. We ordered a few dishes; Corn & Cheese, Steam Egg, Spicy Chicken Wings & one of the Spicy Stews. EVERYTHING was amazing! The corn a cheese was perfect! Steamed egg had some veggies mixed in! The spicy wings had peanut as a garnish! And the stew…wow!! It was way better than I had imagined!!! Enough spice to satisfy my taste buds and a good mix of sausage and spam + kimchi!

Bay Pocha is honestly one of my go-to spots as a college student. The food is so good and perfect for sharing with friends, especially if you’re going in a group. The portions are big, and you definitely get your money’s worth. I also like the music played inside as well and it matches the vibe and energy of the other customers as well. Definitely would come here again.
Bay Pocha is not just a restaurant — it’s a treasure tucked away in the Ingleside Terrace neighborhood, just steps from my parents’ home. From the moment you walk in, the cozy space, decorated with traditional Korean touches, feels like you’ve been transported straight to Seoul. On our visit, my dad accidentally ordered Bulgogi instead of Galbi. Without hesitation, our server graciously fixed the order, even though the mistake was ours. That small act of kindness spoke volumes — customer service here isn’t just good, it’s extraordinary. Every staff member is warm, attentive, and genuinely cares about their guests. And then there’s the food — bold, comforting, and unforgettable. The Bulgogi Mushroom Stew and Galbi were both phenomenal, bursting with flavor and served in portions generous enough to share (though you might not want to). Each bite carried the same depth and authenticity I remember from dining in Korea itself. Bay Pocha may be small in size, but it’s huge in heart, flavor, and hospitality. It’s the kind of place you fall in love with after one visit and can’t wait to return to again and again. Next on my list? Their legendary Beef Rib Stew. If you’re in San Francisco and crave real Korean comfort food served with soul, Bay Pocha is an absolute must.

One of the best Korean restaurants in San Francisco. The inside of the restaurant feels cramped and dark. Food and service are good. I really like kimchi stew. It is open until 12:00 at night, so I like it because I can eat at night when I get back from work.
Overall, not a bad spot for late night eats in the city. We came here after a show, and we were HUNGRY. Luckily, the portions here are pretty big. My boyfriend and I shared an order of Rosé Rice Cakes (tteokbokki) first. Pretty good starter. This was creamy! Good flavor, but had more fishcake than rice cakes. Unfortunately there was a piece of plastic (maybe saran wrap?) that we found. The waiting staff gave us some pear juice to compensate. After, we shared an order of Bossam (Braise Pork Belly) and this was HUGE. So much pork! Each slice was thick and had a lot of flavor. Unfortunately this didn't come with lettuce, so we ordered some for $3 extra. The pork wasn't super tender, but not dry either. Since the portion was so big, we had this as leftovers the day after! Still great the next day.

Restaurant - appears new and clean. Restroom clean. Fish eggs stew - really good flavor except for the fish eggs, it was way overcooked and tough. Chapchae - very good. Army stew - good flavor but the broth is on the salty side, imo. Bulgogi mushroom stew - also good flavor but way too sweet for my taste. It literally reminded me of the Japanese sukiyaki.

Korean here. * Pocha is like a pub where you can have food with alcohol. Don’t expect to have the best food here.* I tried -Army stew: good -Pork feet: below expectation -Steamed egg: You can’t fail steam egg but it was pricy -Grilled pork belly: It was okay but you can gril pork belly at home and still expect the same quality. This is my husband (not Korean)‘s go to place but it was just okay for me. If I try other foods and find something good, I’ll edit my review.
If you are a Korean who knows what good Korean foods taste like, this is not the place for you . Based on the decent reviews , I decided to check this place out with my friend. Since it was just two of us, the army stew seemed like too large portion for us to even share . So we ordered pollock eggs fish soup , spicy pork belly and one appetizer. While the soup had generous amount of seafoods in the soup, the pollock eegs tasted pretty bad , like old sock . And I know how the fresh pollock eggs test like. The stir spicy pork belly didn’t have much taste except it was salty . Usually well seasoned spicy pork belly has the combination of smoky sweet and salty with umami flavor but this one lack most of the flavors. The banchan didn’t taste fresh either. The fish cake and mushroom dishes were dry and hard as rubber , seemed like they were pre made long long time go. While I am tempted to go back to try army stew, after seeing recent review with rat pic , I am questioning the sanitation of this place.

**1/5 stars due to rat issue** I would rate the overall food a 3.5/5. The seafood pancake was really good but the bulgogi was kind of tough. The pork belly was pretty decent. However we saw a live rat at the end of the meal right in front of our table on the wall. This is why I am giving this a 1/5. Due to unsanitary conditions and potential health risks to customers and staff it is not recommended to come here until this is fixed. A review on Yelp from 5 days ago also states the same. See photos I posted for rat. The restaurant comped our meal due to us noticing the rat but it seems it had already been there for days.
