Cool spot to get beverage. I got matcha latte. A bit surprised that it is not sweet at all. Then I appreciate why it is unsweetened: so I can appreciate the matcha taste and the natural sweet taste of the milk. The staff is friendly and the shop is busy in a good way. I had a good time conversing with friends about life philosophy and Buddhism there. Would love to go try some pastries next time!
We love this spot! We tried the pour over and loved it! Totally worth a stop to check it out!!
The barista working this afternoon deserves a mention for great customer service; cheerful and friendly (bonus points for the great playlist). He brightened up what was otherwise a dreary day :) And I watched him bring a smile to many other customers as I sat and drank my coffee.
Words fail me in expressing how much I enjoyed the cappuccino and dark chocolate croissant I had at this establishment. The proprietors were extremely friendly and treated me as warmly as the many locals who clearly come there regularly. I wish I lived nearby.
Nice local coffee shop. Staff is very friendly. Not a large selection of pastries, but what they have is pretty good. They have an old tv with a VHS player and a large selection of films for it on one side. A welcome distraction on those days I come by myself.
Great atmosphere and great coffee. I love working remotely here, during the workday and on weekends it’s a fun and lively atmosphere. Workers are cool and there’s always some 80s-90s movie playing on tiny VHS TV. Honestly worth checking out just to laugh at their coffee-themed parody VHS horror movie collection. Cronenberg’s The Brewed cracks me up
got a delicious pour over :) staff are so friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is perfect for working or coffee with a friend. 10/10 recommend
Best coffee shop in Cole Valley, amazing staff, great matcha and pastries. Love this place!!
Do yourself a favor and grab a breakfast taco! They have a few varieties - every one I've tried has been great - and a small enough portion that I don't feel guilty. Coffee here is excellent! While I love the pour overs, I find the house coffee is not much of a step down. Friendly service with just enough kitchy items inside to make it feel homey. Some day I'll pick up one of the cute cat dishes they have for sale.
A hidden treasure in San Francisco! My husband and I stopped by early this morning for a drip coffee and a dry cappuccino — truly the best coffee ever, far better than anything from the big-box chains. The flavors were rich, clean, and perfectly balanced. We also loved the antique wooden décor, the spotless wooden floors, and all the thoughtful details that show how much love and effort the owner(s) put into this place. Cozy, charming, and exceptional in every way. We will definitely be back!
The cashier was very friendly and nice to talk to. Good coffee with a nice setting to hang out at.
I ordered an oat matcha latte to enjoy in the coffeehouse and it was so tasty. Everything about it was perfect so I’m glad I trusted the other reviews about this being the best spot in the neighborhood for matcha lattes. Now here is another testament 🙏🏼 I would definitely recommend for anyone who has dairy allergies too as they were very nice about my needs.
Good place! Nice work by the barista. Overall feels like a cozy place to spend some time at or work from.
This is a beautiful coffee shop, very spacious with enough tables and seating areas for you to study or hang out. In addition, they have outdoor sitting areas. They have a limited and solid menu and the prices are fair. Everything is very clean and the place had a nice decoration and vibe. The service was great very friendly. Come here!
This is a quirky coffee shop to stop in while you are on your way to hike Mount Sutro. I was very impressed by the taste and texture of their espresso. 5 stars! This is what you can find here: Intelligentsia beans for espresso style drinks Craftsman’s and wolves pastries Ritual beans for drip coffee
Hands down the best mocha I have ever had in my life, and I am a well traveled 55 year old human! They use the local chocolatier Dandelion’s chocolate. I love unsweetened chocolate. In fact, I seek out 100% chocolate bars, which most humans cannot handle. Ask for extra chocolate if you are a chocoholic like me. Very friendly staff too! Nice and quiet with all the students from USF studying.
The best coffee shop in Cole Valley, if not in the entire SF! Matcha is top grade, coffee and pastries are superb too. But what is even more important is atmosphere and the team - those are unmatched. I always feel like home here!
A very charming and cozy spot! Espresso was a zinger — it really gets ya!⚡️I let out an audible “yum” upon my first sip. Looks like they serve Ritual’s blends (or they just sell it at the front counter)

Exceptional, well lit, coffee shop with a literary feel as if Ernest Hemingway will walk into the room to meet Pablo Picasso for a cup of coffee.

Love this neighborhood cafe! They serve one of the best coffees in the city. Great ambience and friendly staff :)
This is the best coffee and coffee shop in the area. Support local and enjoy a perfectly made cup of joe. (Also, they have the most amazing egg muffin things on the weekends)
Best coffee in Cole Valley. All it needs is a laptop ban! The aesthetic inside is great, but the vibes are degraded by grumpy remote worker energy lol
hands down best coffee I’ve ever had. I don’t get how they make it so good. atmosphere is a bit… pretentious maybe. but for a special treat of what coffee can actually taste like, I’ll be going here and no where else.
Nice ambiance! The window seats are comfortable and a good place for people-watching. It was a nice place to chat with my Brother. Their matcha (with I asked for plain and in water) wasn't bad, though I am a matcha snob who doesn't go out for drinks much so I don't know how to rate it. I recommend the Humanito empanada-you'll know it was the right call to order one the moment you smell it

My boyfriend and I checked out Wooden Coffeehouse on a late Sunday morning. They were busy, but the line moved quickly and the staff were friendly. Most tables were taken but we were able to snag a seat after a few minutes of waiting. We really enjoyed the pastries and my boyfriend really liked the cortado he ordered. I got a vanilla latte, but I couldn’t really taste the vanilla which was a bummer. I will definitely be visiting again though because it is in our neighborhood ☺️
Cute coffee shop in trendy Cole Valley. It’s very bare bones right now due to the pandemic. No indoor seating. Also offers a pretty minimalist espresso and coffee menu. The Matcha Green Tea was nice and earthy.
I went for the first time this past weekend. The staff were so nice and from the conversations overheard, they seem to really make an effort to form connections with customers who live nearby or frequent the cafe. Decent amount of seating in the cafe, and I found a table with an outlet nearby. Nice cafe to work out of. I ordered a matcha latte and a morning bun. Not as impressed with the morning bun (have had better ones around the city) but the matcha latte was great and the sugar level is adjustable.
A small coffee shop with a nice vibe and a bit of funkiness (I'm looking at their VHS shelf). I stopped by to grab a coffee before meeting a friend and it was a pretty standard SF coffee shop experience, friendly service and good coffee, but you know nothing really stands out either.

Really curious why a coffee house is consistently closed at 5pm? In a location that has a height of commuters and folks in the neighborhood that would enjoy an afternoon or evening coffeehouse.
I requested a real cup instead of a paper cup. The response was, “We don’t have enough hands to wash it. Sorry.” I believe such a great place deserves better service and respect for customers.

There were like 5 dogs in here, all anxious / fighting each other. Workers seemed to encourage it. Also, it wasn’t busy but it took 15 minutes to make an iced matcha. Coffee was pretty good but matcha was grainy/clumpy and not very flavorful.
Would have loved to have a coffee here, but unfortunately felt very unwelcome. Tried to order a coffee by the counter, but neither of the two employees by the counter made any effort to take my order or acknowledge my presence. Was patiently waiting for a few minutes and even made eye contact with one of the employees, but to no avail. Always love to support small businesses, but this was just an odd experience…
Was excited to try this place out, but as some of the other reviews have mentioned, the cafe felt unwelcoming. Tried to order a coffee here, but was never given the opportunity. I understand that things can get quite busy sometimes, but when I visited the cafe it was mostly empty. Was quite uncomfortable and awkward to be standing around trying to order a couple of times, especially when the staff clearly had seen me. Going to a cafe shouldn’t make you feel like you’re in a popularity contest.
10/24/2025, 9:20am I just moved to the neighborhood, and this coffee shop is the closest one to me. I usually would not say something like this, but the difference in how the Mexican woman cashier treats white customers vs black customers is honestly unbelievable. I have come here three times. Each time, I stood behind someone getting a warm greeting and a friendly conversation, which is exactly the kind of charm a neighborhood coffee shop should have. When it was my turn, there was no acknowledgment and the interaction becomes noticeably curt. As I waited, I watched her mood shift back to cheerful and welcoming when serving others. The two gentlemen making the drinks have always been very friendly to everyone and are the reason I kept giving this place a chance. But after three visits, each time my experience is ruined by interacting with an unwelcoming person first thing.
