A very sweet husband and wife serving generous portions of delicious udon at very low prices. What more could you want?

Really tasty lunch, so we'll priced all this was 19 Dollars and the people running the store were super friendly. Highly recommend to take and eat at the park

An sf lunch tradition. Cash only! They’ve got their operations down to a science. I recommend the half udon soup with handfuls a roll.

Yoyo's is a one of a kind, quality lunch spot in san francisco! It's a rare spot that has affordable AND incredibly tasty options. I always get the half order of udon with dumplings and it never disappoints and is under $10. They are cash only but have recently added Venmo to their store which is super convenient. The owners are always there and are SO friendly. I can't say enough good things about this place.

I found this place a few months ago and have become a regular! The udon is delicious and so reasonably priced, and the couple who runs the place is so sweet! There can be a line at lunch but it goes quickly. So happy to have found this spot!

Genuine 10/10 hidden gem. I don’t say this lightly. Best soba I’ve had outside of Japan. Best value in SF hands down. And this close to Fidi? Absolutely insane. I don’t even want to write this review because I want to gatekeep this place for myself, but the cute couple running it was so kind I couldn’t help but want to show some support.

Awesome Japanese takeout lunch spot! Got half chicken curry special for $12. Chicken was fall off the bone delicious and came with puffed rice, carrots, yam, hard boiled egg and, of course, sweet and savory Japanese curry. Everything was super tasty and the portion for the price was generous. Owners were very nice and the service was fast. No photos because I ate it too fast!

Had this place a few years back. The friendliest married couple runs the shop and has things down to a SCIENCE; they started recognizing me by name after a few visits and would have my order ready to go in seconds. With the fast and friendly service the food is amazing, I highly recommend the udon, and the chicken and rice plates are wonderful as well. Also a big fan of the grab n' go sushi! Make sure to bring cash!

S

Take out only. Cash only. Went with the chicken curry special. Was super tasty, solid rice. Lovely folks running the restaurant.

J

The owner couples are very nice. After a couple of visits, they remembered my usual order. The place is quite popular but the line moves fast. For $6.75, you get a tasty bowl of udon soup with seaweeds, tofu or bean curb, and tempura. For another $2 you can add chicken. It is a really nice deal around the area. Soup noodles are perfect for cooler gloomy days

What an absolute jem of a place. Run by a super friendly Indonesian couple. They seem to know every customer who comes thru the door. The beef (Rendang) curry is "Out the gate". The other food including the soup and dumplings was so good. Would be incredible to see more Indonesian food on the menu too. Keep up the great work.

Yo Yo's is awesome. Husband and wife run this place and they are beyond nice. Know all the regulars names and show their appreciation to the customer. The menu is small but tasty. Sushi, dumplings, udon, and curry dishes are their staples. Most expensive thing on the menu is $9 so everything is a steal, here. 👁 ❤ Y⭕ Y⭕'$

This place is a gem. A gem. It’s a hole in the wall with delicious, affordable, and filling homestyle Japanese food. What makes this place special are the owners who run the shop and remember every customer without fault. Go try it!!

Yo Yo's is a Japanese-inspired lunch spot in a very quiet part of town that you have to find by map or be guided by a local, and it is a Very economical spot. I've seen the spot highlighted on a few "cheap eats of SF" lists and it's not too far from me, so I decided to try it one day with a friend. We took the bus then walked a few blocks to build up the appetite. The place is to-go only, the menu choices are very simple. Udon or soba, in broth, plus 1 or 2 of seasonings/ toppings. Optional togarashi (spice). You can go for half or whole order ($5 or $9). You can also get teriyaki chicken over rice (optional brown rice) which comes with a wedge of orange and a little bit of salad. There's also some sushi in the fridge, and bottled soft drinks. Among us, we ordered 2 half udons, one with additional dumplings (4x), a teriyaki chicken over rice (with mini salad), and a bottled soda... Total of $21. Udon is cooked "Al dente" without being mushy, and the flavorings, with no meat, is surprisingly tasty. Broth is excellent. However, chicken teriyaki feels under-flavored, as I tasted mostly (bland) chicken, with just a little sweet teriyaki flavor. The brown rice is earthy, but with nothing else to accompany it, it's not exactly pleasant. For cheap lunch, this does hit the spot, just wish the teriyaki chicken was better so there's a bit more choice of protein, else this place is almost all carb.

The couple run the restaurant is very friendly. They actually sells Indonesian beef rendang and also Indonesian chicken curry. The taste is quite authentic. Very generous serving for the price. Some menu can be ordered half portion. It's only for take out.

Yo Yo’s is such a wonderful neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall place to get absolutely delicious Japanese curries, udon, and teriyaki chicken. My favorite dish, their beef curry, is available only on Mondays and Thursdays, and is absolutely worth making a special trip. It has a piece of tofu, potato, hard boiled egg, and tender, slow cooked pieces of beef on top of a bed of white or brown rice. It is spicy, which I love! The husband and wife team who run the business and make all of the food could not be sweeter. They remember your name, your preferences, and make it feel like you are getting a home cooked meal from family. The prices are also very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food you get. A total gem!

J
Jessica lsy

Came by right when they opened because I NEEDED to try their very much raved about beef curry while I’m in San Francisco and I can tell you it is everything I was hoping for it to be and more! Beef melts in your mouth (I’m cutting through it single handedly with 1 plastic spoon 🤯) and the curry itself is a perfect balance of spice, sweetness, savory — just, everything. Trying this place just once is not enough! Take note though, they only serve the beef curry on Mondays and Thursdays because it takes like 8 hours to make it. The owners were so sweet and friendly and we talked about how business isn’t as good as it was before COVID and how this shop has been here since the 80s. Definitely please stop by to try their food, your heart and tummy will thank me 🫶

Yoyo’s is a San Francisco gem! This mom & pop shop with the best deal around. I get their hot soba soup almost weekly. They have kept the staff of the Exploratorium well fed for over a decade and are always happy to meet new guests.

S

Their Chicken Curry Rice is AMAZING! And the price is very reasonable for that quality and quantity. I wasn’t able to come to this place since I moved to Seattle 10 years ago. I also had a half size Udon Soup and it tasted better than before. A lot of things happened and changed in the last 10 years, but their reasonable selections, quick and friendly service have never changed. I definitely go back to Yoyo’s when I visit San Francisco again.

I started going to this place 25 years ago. Great lunch place. I’ve been out of the neighborhood for more than 20 and the couple that runs it literally still remembers me and my standard order. I go a couple times a year, just because it is that good.

Y
Ying Zhang

Incredibly huge portions at an extremely competitive price point! This whole container cost me maybe $14. You don’t see prices like these in SF often, especially close to FiDi where most restaurants charge an $25+ for a weekday office lunch. It’s takeout only since it’s a small counter space. The couple running this restaurant is so sweet and warm. There will definitely be a line during lunch rush, but they are fast and diligent so the wait goes by quick. I really enjoyed my chicken curry also. The carrot was so sweet and flavorful. Office lunches are a little less bleak with Yo Yo’s around.

A lot of people ask me is this the absolute best restaurant you’ve ever been to in your life? Yes it is. This is the best lunch restaurant I’ve ever been to in my entire life. The food is cooked with love and you can taste the quality in the ingredients and in the recipes. If you start coming here every day, your life will improve.

I couldn’t imagine rating this place anything less than 5 stars!! The owner’s personality ALONE was worth the visit; it’s truly an experience that appeals to all six senses!! As for my udon, it was so delicious I slurped it down before I was able to get a pic! Very generous portion, delicious, and I will definitely be back for sushi next time!! I’m not used to feeling full for under $10!!!!! 🤩🙏🏽

Yes. Just YES. This place is amazing. Roughly $10 for a healthy portion of food. Friendly owners. Can pay by venmo. Parking does suck, but this is one of those ~must try~ places in SF. Plus you’ll save so much money. Btw, like one table inside. Definitely a grab-n-go spot.

This place is cash or Venmo only. This is a small little shop run by the nicest and friendliest couple in the world. I think the wife is the master cook😄 I ordered their daily special of curry chicken and it was very tasty and not spicy at all. The curry plate comes with 2 quarter chicken legs that was well seasoned and grilled, it also comes with an egg, veggies and generous portions of rice. I’m a very happy and a full customer 🤤🤤

You don't often find a place as special as YoYo's. Stellar quality food at lovely prices. A perfect meal to share with friends and family. But the most remarkable feature of this establishment is the Couple that runs it! I feel like family in a city that is brand new to me. The Soba is my absolute favorite! Udon is great and if you like a little spice, try the curries! Need a Snack? Grab some sushi rolls or dumplings! The soup in the udon and soba is among the best I've had, just like Grandma's cooking. They must call it YoYo's because like the eponymously named toy, I keep coming back! 🪀

Just randomly bumped into the tiny restaurant / takeaway shop and tried their Monday lunch special. It is Beef Curry in Indonesian style. Only 13 bucks. Last night I was at ChinaLive, a fancy Chinese restaurant which was highly rated by Times in 2018. But I think this beef curry beats them for sure. The owner knows almost every customer and their preference. Jokes around and really relaxed feeling. The casual conversation makes you wonder it is a Yo Yo Family or something. This is a role model for small family run food business. As I was writing this comment, it has been a relatively long queue all the way to the street. Unfortunately I live in Sweden so I wouldn't have chance to come here often as my workday lunch go-to places. But I will definitely visit it again next time I am in SF.

It's a mom and pop shop, and the owners are extremely friendly. After realizing it's my first time here, they introduced menu items to me with passion and even offered extra toppings for what I ordered. First time dining here, and I was genuinely impressed. The food is both delicious and very filling. I ordered a half portion of the teriyaki chicken along with a full California roll, which came out to $13.50—great value for the quality and portion size. What stood out most, however, was the hospitality. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It can be difficult to find places in San Francisco where the hospitality feels truly genuine, but here you can feel it immediately—their energy is warm and pleasant. With that being said, I’ll definitely be back very soon (deff have to try the udon soup & curry) hehe ☺️😋🫶🏽 *CASH ONLY or VENMO**

Second experience was much better I've gotten chicken curry twice and it was good. TY! Updated rating to 4 stars. First experience 0 stars - I want to start off by saying that the service and atmosphere is 5/5 stars. But the food on the other hand was a diff story, I got the "one order chicken teriyaki plate white rice" it was a 2 star at best, If not 1. Chicken had an alarming taste, I would describe it as "old" or "plastic" taste, as well as the look of it, dark spots, definitely not seem fresh. The rice was slimy and also had a strange taste that I could only describe as "plastic" or something. Super unenjoyable, idk if I got a bad plate because I do see people line up like crazy for this spot. Nonetheless this was my experience I'm just hoping I don't get sick.🤢

Real value here for a simple, delicious meal. I ordered one order of the udon and it came out to only $9.50. The meal was filling and tasted good. The udon was on the thinner side and it leaned towards the salty side but I enjoyed my meal. The owners were pleasant and super friendly.

The price is sometimes why food tastes good. I would ask when the sushi was made as you pick one from the fridge. And go light on the chili powder ✨️
