HK Dim sum, nice dining room, large tables available, full bar.. definitely the best General TSO chicken (I’m converted ), my fave chiu chow dumpling, the best steamed bbq pork imho . Why ? Perfect balance of bun to bbq pork, smooth soft, very soft bun ( it didn’t crumble into pieces), love their pork bone jook .. if u like the HK more than village ;very thick) style .. this is the place & a beautiful full bar with sexy cocktails 🍹 also great pan fried noods .. “Jin mein “
Best dim sum restaurant we have been to! My husband loved it so much we came a second time . The dumplings , buns , chicken wings, veggies.. everything was delicious and service is great and quick. You have options for indoor and outdoor dining as well. We came on two afternoons and there was no wait, restaurant has a lot of seating . Definitely worth a visit !
Osmanthus Dim Sum Lounge in San Francisco offers a delightful dining experience that harmoniously blends tradition with modernity. The Mongolian beef is a standout, with its robust flavors and tender meat that melts in your mouth. Complementing this are the spring rolls – crispy on the outside, filled with a perfectly seasoned medley on the inside. Not to be overlooked, the vegetable lo mein is both flavorful and refreshingly light, a testament to the kitchen's knack for balancing taste and texture. A visit to Osmanthus is a journey through authentic Chinese cuisine with a contemporary twist. Highly recommended for both dim sum enthusiasts and culinary explorers alike.
Excellent dim sum, best I've had in North America since being in Richmond (Vancouver), Canada. The garlic noodles are triple cooked and have a perfect consistency, the snow pea leaves are fresh and not overcooked so nicely crunchy, and the dim sum dishes are excellent. I highly recommend sitting at the bar to chat with AJ, bartender and part owner. He has fun insights about cuisine around the world and can just as readily talk about whiskeys and teas than Cantonese or Punjabi curries and cooking styles. Get a pot of tea and share it with someone, you won't regret it!
I love dim sum brunch. This restaurant is very clean and the service was great. They thoroughly described their food and tea menu, so if you are new to dim sum, this is a great location to start! We started the meal with one of their delicious teas, which I highly recommend. We had various dim sum dishes that were all delicious. We will definitely be back!
Not the most authentic Chinese restaurant I been to, but it's definitely great food for reasonable prices. Atmosphere: a normal eatery, no fancy. Good for a group to go for Service: fast and friendly, not much to add here Food: delicious garlic noodles!🧄 🍜 and General Tso's Chicken! Prices: for San Francisco, quite affordable prices.
Osmanthus Dim Sum Lounge is a true gem in Chinatown that delivers an exceptional dim sum experience! Upon entering, the warm welcome and efficient service made us feel right at home. Although they asked for a reservation, we were seated without any hassle. Now, let's talk about the food—oh, the food! Every dish we ordered was a flavor sensation, showcasing the finest flavors of authentic dim sum. But the star of the show, without a doubt, was the Siu Mai. I found myself utterly captivated by its delectable taste, so much so that I had to order one more! If you're craving top-notch dim sum in town, this is the place to go. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. Five stars for their scrumptious offerings!
Amazing Soup Dumplings! Actually, I had planned to go across the street, but they were closed, so I went to Osmanthus. 4x orders of Steamed Shanghai Dumplings 1x Honey Walnut Prawns And an order of string beans with XO sauce. Food is amazing. 10/10 , perfect flavor and spice. Well go again and again and again. Lol. I'm already hungry for more.
Not to be missed, lots of food choices, whether its protein, rice or noodle dishes, dim sum, soup, veggies, its all on the menu and done right. Fast, efficient, friendly service, casual, inviting decor. A very enjoyable dining experience. Had the Chinese broccoli, hot & sour soup, spicy wonton, Singapore noodles, pork buns, and jasmine tea. All of it so so good.
So good! We ordered the pea shoots with garlic. Whole cloves of garlic were roasted to creamy perfection and stir fried with the greens in a lovely light sauce. Har gow was perfect, shaped into little shells. So pretty and just as tasty. We did two types of mushroom dumplings— steamed and fried. Both were standouts. The steamed ones tasted a little bit like Jewish Brooklyn inside, just rich and creamy with little carrot bits. I was loving it! The best East-West fusion. 😂 We also ordered a pot of matcha tea — it was also perfect, and never got bitter because the water was too hot. I highly recommend!!
food is really good. the taste is spot on for almost everything we ordered. the atmosphere is nice, love the decor. service was fast
Best dumplings I had in a while. The Siu Mai was absolutely divine, second best is baked pork bun. My family and I had a great time. Will come back and highly recommend Osmanthus.
An unbelievably delicious meal here. We ordered too much for two people, but all of it was so good that we couldn't stop eating. We ordered the garlic noodles, peeking duck, fried fish and shrimp balls, and the spicy coconut fish broth. My personal favorites were the garlic noodles and spicy coconut fish broth. Both just bursting with flavor. I'd definitely order both again. The service was very quick, friendly, and attentive with no wait. They provided good recommendations and helped us to make a game plan.
Long overdue and much deserved review. Highly recommended If you’re ever in SF! Imagine it’s Saturday morning, you wake up in your comfy pajamas, make a nice cup of your favorite drink about to dig into your favorite breakfast. It’s the feeling you get eating here. Freshly made dim sum? Yes, please! The bbq baked buns…speechless. Soup dumplings…heck yes. (Best eaten 2 minutes after it’s dropped on the table so you don’t burn your tongue.) Chicken Wings here are a gem. I don’t care how much I order, this belongs on the MUST order list. The flavor is phenomenal. The crisp IS CRISPIN’. Delicious tea selection, go figure because they’re tea connoisseurs and have a shop in Chinatown!! It’s called Vital Tea and they freakin have free tea tasting so you don’t have to guess what you’re taking home! (I know you guys know what I mean). Anyway, let me get back to my review… ask for their specialty drinks, if you’re not a drinker - Herman makes amazing mocktails. Today he made a coconut lychee something magical mocktail and I’m still dreaming about it. Which brought to write this review now. All in all - you get traditional vibes with open space with 100/100 good vibes and great food. Friend, friendly. Dog, friendly. (Outdoor seating) Family, friendly. Kid, friendly. Date, friendly. Celebration, friendly. My personal favorites - Pan friend noodles w xo sauce Snow peas with garlic Turnip cake Stir fry Green beans Baked bbq buns Duck w the buns Chicken feet Wonton in chili oil Pan fried pork dumplings Drooling now 🤤 I’ll take my whiskey 🥃 neat ☺️
Excellent dim sum. All the dishes were very tasty. The turnip cake felt genuinely homemade and was savory enough on its own that it didn't need any dipping sauce. The sesame balls were incredible. The mochi filling was perfectly dense and chewy, not hollow or airy like at so many other places. Hands down, it's the best sesame ball I've ever had! Highly recommended.
I hosted one of my 222 parties at Osmanthus Dim Sum, and the night was such a success! The restaurant had the perfect atmosphere for our group — great music, cozy space, and a vibe that made it easy for everyone to connect. The food and drinks were amazing, especially the tea-infused cocktails, which became a highlight of the night. The staff was super attentive and made sure everything flowed smoothly so we could focus on enjoying the party. A big shoutout to Hermen, the owner — he’s incredibly nice and so easy to work with. He really went out of his way to make sure everything was set up just right for us. If you’re looking for a spot in San Francisco with delicious dim sum, creative cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere, Osmanthus is definitely worth checking out.
We came for dinner. When this location used to be Enrico's, they used to have live music. Fast forward to now, it is a Chinese restaurant. The layout remains the same. There's a bar on the right hand side but it is now missing the lively atmosphere. It is quiet roomy restaurant. The food all tasted fine. Since it wasn't busy, service was excellent as there were only three other parties in the restaurant. Good job staff at Osmanthus.
One of the things I’m looking for with Dim Sum is a balance between quality, portions and cost. Some people recommend dim sum places that are cheaper or give huge portions but they end up being oily and chewy. Alternatively, some dim sum places are delicious, but the portion sizes are tiny and the hit to your wallet is certainly *NOT* tiny. I am happy to say Osmanthus is the perfect blend of both!! Portion sizes are great, the variety is there, but the dim sum feels fresh and well made - and it’s both delicious without being very expensive. Service was quick, and the large open setting feels lively and elegant, without being pretentious. Clean bathrooms are pleasant and a large open bar adds to the ambiance. The area around is a bit sketchy though so park a little Closer to Chinatown and you’ll be fine!
The food was all good. while the flavoring was mild, it was all good. Every dish. There were some good vegetarian options. The server was kind and attentive. The facility was appointed and clean. Bathrooms need a little more maintenance, but are pretty good.
Absolute gorgeous dim sum place I’ve ever been to. Not only is their food delicious, their staff is extremely sweet, knowledgeable. Their staff also suggests dishes based on the customer’s taste palette 🎨. When at the table, you will be given pencils and menu cards to tick your choice of dishes. We ordered their shrimp and chive dumplings to start with and then went for their pan fried mushroom bun and pan fried noodle (we took chicken instead of beef and pork). I wasn’t a fan of the mushroom buns but the pan fried noodles and the bun tasted exceptionally good and tasteful. I could get a hint of every ingredient added to the dish. 10 stars to Osmanthus 😇
I was a little nervous when we walked in and there were more tourists than locals, which is rarely the sign of an authentic dining experience. I was pleasantly surprised! Everything was delicious and we gorged ourselves, particularly since the portions were larger than expected. Definitely get the eggplant, the pumpkin was worth trying, the shumai was hearty, and the Peking duck was done well. A lot of the dishes had pork in them, which wasn’t a problem for us, but our Jewish friend did have to be a little more particular about what he ate.

We stopped by for a few bites because we passed by this place so many times and finally decided to give a try. We were a pleasantly taken aback by the quality of food and speedy service. The value for the money is great.

Big portions and great food! We were 7 people easily sat on a Friday night. Ordered a plethora of different dim sum options all of which were good. The garlic noodles were the absolute favorite but this is one of those places you can’t go wrong. We over ordered so keep the portion sizes in mind when ordering for big groups.
Our favorite Dim Sum place in the city. Plenty of choices and their baked BBQ pork is to die for! They run out of it so best to go early in the day to get it. Reasonably priced and perfect portions. Highly recommend.
Best Dim sum in the China town area! Loved the service, joked with the host, bartender was great, they even let Chili Dog chill with us on the outdoor seating. Love this place and it was perfect for the Lunar New Year, thanks again everyone at Osmanthus!
The food in the service were exceptional, but my biggest complaint is that it felt like they didn’t know how to best serve it! We’ve all been to the dim sum place with the excellent side condiments and the spoons for sucking out the soup from the soup dumplings. Unfortunately neither the condiments nor the spoons are provided when we’re served! The soup dumplings on their own we’re fine, but when we asked for the spoons and the condiments alongside they turned into great dumplings. I felt similar about the shumai as well as the mushroom bun.
solid dim sum spot in chinatown serving all the standard dim sum fare. would come back! highlights were: chicken wings: surprising some of the best i’ve had in the city. great sweet sauce and perfectly crispy. saucy chicken wings: not as good, would skip garlic noodles: great as well and offered a nice almost crunchy texture. cheung fun: tasty noodles and always a fan favorite. chicken feet: better than most other dim sum spots. great flavor. sesame balls: must try!! uniquely offered here, more like sesame filled mochi than deep fried balls
It was the first time we visited. We came at the height of dinnertime on a Saturday night a table of 5. We were able to be seated right away. The service was fast and the food was brought out as it was prepared. The wonton soup was excellent, we enjoyed the spicy pork noodles that was a little numbing and the park fried rice. The dim sum was good overall.
We ordered the sui mai, cha sui cheung fun (roast pork rice rolls), lo mai gai (sticky rice lotus leaf), soup dumplings, salt and pepper squid, garlic pea shoots, green beans and eggplant, soup dumplings, hot and sour soup, and beef congee. Everything was really good except for the lo mai gai, it was a little too soggy and the congee was a bit bland but neither one were horrible just a little meh. The atmosphere and service were good!
Went here for a post-work dinner with a coworker from out of town. We ordered some of the vegetarian and shrimp dumplings, stir fried vegetables, scallion pancakes and salt and pepper chicken. Dessert was custard bao buns, which were likely the highlight, although everything was very good. Space is huge and well-decorated, and the owner is very friendly and helpful. Ask about their tea selection!
A nice spot for dim sum. The selection isn’t very large, but I actually appreciated that — sometimes too many options can be overwhelming. Everything we tried was tasty and well prepared. I also had the lychee cocktail, which was pleasant and refreshing — not a big “wow” moment, but definitely solid. Overall, a good place to stop by for a satisfying dim sum meal.
The dim sum was good but nothing really special. The best thing to get is the Garlic Noodles. They’re chewy and very delicious.
We didn’t realise how big the portions would be and over ordered. Agree with the other comments that the food was a little too oily, especially the ribs and the fried calamari. We liked the dim sum but no dipping sauce was provided. I would return but only order dim sum next time.
We ate here for my husband’s birthday. We ordered beef chow mein, scallop dumplings, spicy pork and shrimp dumplings, pork soup dumplings, custard buns and bbq buns. We were quite disappointed with the pork soup dumplings as there was barely ‘soup’ when you bite into it but the dumpling itself tastes good. The custard bun is average compared to other restaurants while the rest of the food is good.
I recently visited this place craving for some good Dim sum. Their service location and ambience of this place is really cool. It has a small bar area and a cozy dine in place. The service was amicable and quick. Their food was piping hot and fresh. We ordered corn and chicken soup and it was lite and refreshing. Then we had garlic noodles which had a strong garlic punch to it. Only downside it was a bit heavy on the salt and oil side which is completely acceptable for Chinese cuisine. We also tried their custard buns, fish and shrimp fried balls, spinach dumpling and chicken dumpling. The custard Bao which was on of the best steam bun I’ve had recently. The bun was as soft as cotton and the custard was lite and not too sweet. Their fried fish and shrimp felt like seafood cake with crispy coating of spring roll sheets. It gave a nice crunch to its crust and a soft meaty filling inside. The dumplings were both steaming hot and fresh. It was so delicate that it melted in my mouth. Overall I would say it was one of the best Chinese cuisine I’ve explored so far and I look forward to coming back soon. This place interested me in trying new Chinese places. The only con I would say it’s expensive and that is completely fine for a dine in at San Francisco.
Had an amazing outside dinner! Every dish was so delicious, especially the Szechwan meals. The outside seating area is very pretty but a little loud next to the street. It would be nice if they added some extra plants or something to dampen the noise of the cars driving by. Great place!

Very busy place. Service is prompt and very helpful. Place is big and bathrooms are nice. Food on the other hand is decent but not to our liking and dimsums weren't really authentic. It felt like a very hypped place, not something we would come back to though. Our friends who live in the city suggested it i guess cause they also have cocktails/drinks they were keen to have otherwise wouldn't have been our primary choice but a cool experience nonetheless!
Decent little dim sum shop on the edge of North Beach. Quick service and traditional mark the menu with your order. I loved the har gow there. The XLB dumplings were okay, the tin cups tend to tear the skin and the dumplings were not consistent. Slightly expensive for what you are getting in terms of quality. I prefer China Live to here for quick dim sum, but this is easy to walk to and fund versus some of the other dim sum places nearby.
I've been in this restaurant on my last night in San Francisco, I had high expectations given the reviews, but they have been let down a little bit. We had 3 different types of buns and dumplings, but the weren't so good, too sweet in my opinion. What disapppointed the most was the Pecking Duck, because there was so little meat to eat.
Read reviews this is one of the better places for dim sum in San Francisco if that’s the case then Dim sum is blah in SF. Price is premium for Dim sum. Min $10 per item. We tried soup dumpling - first time seeing these steamed in foil pans. It was juicy but flavourless.. a disappointment. Ordered shui mai pieces were big they were juicy but again lacked flavour. Steam pork ribs were hard and chewy, hand pulled noodles weee soft and fresh but had no flavour. Pork fried rice was yummy Mongolian beef was flavourful but beef slightly chewy. Overall I felt the meal lacked a lot. Ambiance of restaurant is nice. Could be cleaner, floor was sticky. Staff was nice and served food efficiently and cleaned table well. Bathroom was also sticky. I don’t know I felt I wasn’t impressed with this place my bill with taxes and tip ended up over $30 per person for my family for mediocre food.
3.5 stars. The food was decent but not out of the world. They allow pets on the patio, which was a big draw since our group had a dog. It was super cold outside even with the heaters, which wasn't as pleasant. We ordered the spicy wontons, the soup dumplings, the chicken dumplings, the coconut fish curry, and the Singaporean style noodles. We also got a pot of jasmine tea to warm up. The jasmine tea was lovely and helped with the cold immensely. The food came pretty quickly after we ordered it. A heads up that the curries do not come with rice, so you have to order it separately. The spicy wontons were good. For those who don't like schezwan peppers like me, beware that there is a hint of those peppers in the sauce. It isn't to the extent of numbing your tongue, but you feel a little bit. I liked the dish despite this. The soup dumplings weren't properly structured. They came in the aluminum foil cups and it was near impossible to take them out of the cup without splitting them apart, which means that the soup and the meat were now separated. It defeated the purpose of the dumplings. Considering that I am used to the intact dumplings from Din Tai Fung, this was quite disappointing. The soup was ok. The meat was ok. I just wish I could have had both together. The chicken dumplings were fine. I can't say that they were best ever but they weren't bad. They were ok. Eating them with the spicy sauce from the spicy wontons helped. The fish curry was honestly the best of the lot. The fish was wonderfully melt in the mouth with a very thin breading and the coconut based curry was delicious. It was a huge portion so my friend ended up taking almost 3/4 of it home. I would definitely recommend ordering this! The Singaporean style noodles were ok. If you are expecting Char Kway Teow when you read this, you will be mistaken. The noodles are more along the lines of vermicelli and the spice mix reminded me of a Japanese curry or an Indian Ching's instant noodles mix. We liked them, but I think we had a different expectation in our head. This dish is also not spicy so if you want heat, this is not the dish to order. Pricing wise, I think we paid an acceptable amount for the portions we got but the flavors could be a little better. Considering that this is a dim sum restaurant, I would really like their dumplings to be more on the mark.
This is an okay place to have some dim sum but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to have authentic Cantonese cuisine. Service was slow, had to wait for a long time for the dishes to be served. The floor was a bit slippery as it was covered by a layer of grease. It should come off easily if you spray a bit of ethanol on it.

Visited Osmanthus on a Sunday evening for dinner. The place was relatively empty and we were seated right away. We had the following - Dan Dan Noodles - Spicy wonton - Mongolian Beef - Rice+Pork in Lotus leaves - Eggplant with French beans Food was strictly ok (extremely oily) .. which is a shame considering this is a Chinese restaurant in SF Chinatown. There are far better Chinese restaurants in South Bay which is why i will not be coming back.
