As we visited Barcelo Maya Grand Resort, we had a chance to visit most of the restaurants in the area. One of them was the Grill Bar Captain Morgan. In the are, this is a great bar / restaurant to visit. You will find nice food there as well as burgers and drinks. There is an outside area too where smokers can enjoy their habits while sat on the table. The grill bar is suitable for the visitors of the pool as well as for the ones of the beach. Overall great atmosphere and food!

Captain Morgan’s restaurant is an excellent dining experience. Hassim Viana is the interim manager of the restaurant and the staff he has is one of the best. We first met Hassim as a waiter at the Caribe Buffett over 5 years ago. We are so happy to see the Barcelo family promotes from within. The food and service under Hassim at Captain Morgan’s was excellent! I highly recommend dining there! Michael and Debbie Patty Married at Barcelo Grand Resort in 2015 10th vacation at this resort!

Geat food and service. Nice please to seat drink and relax! Very few waitresses go beyond expectations as Obed and Jazmin, both are very kind. Don’t waste your time sitting at pool bars where the service is very poor.

Came here for my best friend's bachelorette party. Our experience here was amazing. Our servers, Miguel Lopez and Maria Garcia were so hospitable and very attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying at this resort!

Not recommend. It’s like a bad cruise ship buffet. This is a premier pool and seaside restaurant/bar serving the Barceló resort. I live in Playa del Carmen and came here with high expectations to enjoy a day pass. We arrived at about 9:30 am to be told the breakfast buffet would not open for another 20 minutes. Can we get a drink while we wait? No. Can we put tables together for our party of eight? No. Once the buffet opened their was a deluge of guests, lines, and long waits for very average food. Trying to get a masero to bring a drink was a fool’s errand. To generalize, this resort is the kind that promises “all inclusive“ but fails to staff for the crowds. It’s an old trick. The result is poor service and lots of waiting for average watered down drinks. I felt like the staff were very bored and not motivated to please. I can name 5 topnotch rooftop pools in Playa del Carmen where you get a lot more for your money, and the servers are amped and ready to earn your tips. Barceló is just … Boo! Booceló!
