Sin ser pretencioso este lugar tiene un excelente menú, propuestas simples de gran gran sabor. Desde las entradas al postre podrás elegir opciones que te apapchan el corazón y el estómago. La atención del personal es increíble, siempre atentos a los comensales no importando si es un grupo pequeño o grande si son locales o extranjeros para todos el trato es excelente.

Un restaurante con verdadera cocina mexicana contemporánea. ¡Qué falta le hacia a San José del Cabo tener un restaurante que dignifique la cocina mexicana con una propuesta donde los ingredientes y sabores de los platillos no se sacrifiquen en aras de querer agradarle al publico extranjero. Nos encantó esas presentaciones modernas y atractivas en sus platos con porciones individuales o para compartir. Que haya opciones vegetarianas también es algo que debemos destacar de este lugar ya que son pocos los que ofrecen platillos veganos que no sean las aburridas ensaladas. Aquí hasta tacos hay para los que no comen carne. El lugar es simplemente ESPECTACULAR! es como estar en una antigua fonda de carretera con su palapa, pero en versión elegante y distinguida. Las artesanías y elementos de decoración nos llevan al verdadero México, que no es la del indígena con sombrero de charro, eso ya no es México, como tampoco solo los sarapes. Y sus cocteles, una maravilla, tanto como la cristalería que usan, pedimos más solo para ver que otras copas nos traían. De sus platillos no pueden dejar de disfrutar los betabeles rostizados y el tartar de pesca del día para comenzar, después el codillo de puerco, las chuletas de cordero o el chamorro. Del postre, no sientan culpa de pedir doble ración de churros, los buñuelos y obviamente la piñata de chocolate. Tiene una gran carta de vinos, pero los que elaboran con las bodegas en México son fabulosos, el vino que se esta produciendo en México ya ha sido merecedor de premios internacionales y son los que mejor acompañan a la comida mexicana. El chef es encantador, tanto como su comida :-) al igual que los meseros y la gente de servicio. No dejen de tomarse una foto fuera de los baños. Y vean el gran cuadro que esta el fondo de la palapa, es de uno de los pintores más famosos de México, Victor Cauduro y esa pieza es una verdadera obra de arte. ¡Qué orgullo encontrar un lugar así en San José del Cabo, aplausos a todo el equipo de Don Sanchez!

What a wonderful experience we had at Don Sanchez restaurant when we came for the art walk in San José Del Cabo. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious. There was live music to add to the ambiance . The service was impeccable. All the waiters were super attentive. A special thank you to Santiago and Joao who went above and beyond to make our evening perfect. All the food and attention to details were fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely come back.

Wow! What an amazing meal and overall experience. I am celiac and I was looked after from the minute ai entered the restaurant. There was very little on the menu they could not adapt. The servers were totally attentive. The extras made the experience memorable - from the complementary tapas and chocolates, to the delightful live music. The outdoor courtyard setting added to the magical ambiance of our evening. We will make this a regular visit in San Jose. Thank you to our servers Rafael and Alan for a lovely experience.

A meal at Don Sanchez is a must when visiting Cabo. It's so amazing to me the transformation a restaurant makes, when you walk in from the street. What a beautiful setting. Santiago and his waitstaff team treated us like royalty. We did not go for want. The food was excellent. We enjoyed the tuna tartar for an appetizer, the pork shanks and the beef brisket for our meals and the churro for dessert. They even obliged when we asked for Mexican coffee. What a great night. You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant was a 10/10 in every way - I don’t know how it’s not 5 stars. We got into town around 6 Christmas Eve and were stumbling around to find somewhere to eat- this place ended up being my favorite meal I’ve had all year. When you enter, you’re first met with a beautiful interior and live music. I’d also like to start with saying how wonderful the wait staff is - Santiago was a gem, so helpful, very capable of handling dietary preferences and requests. He was smiling and pleasant and one of the best parts of the evening. Thank you Santiago! Onto food. We started with mocktails and cocktails, bread butter and appetizers. Many fun cups and beautiful beverages. I personally drank the mango mocktail and the widow something and both were fabulous - I got them without simple syrup and they were perfect. As a group of 6 with various dietary restrictions, every person was accommodated and got multiple delicious items. They even have gluten free bread and vegan butter from scratch! The chef sent out multiple pallet cleansers between courses, all fabulous. The lobster soup, pork empanadas, mushroom tacos, and more to start got us so excited about the rest of our meal. After that we got more empanadas, the risotto, the farm fresh salad, and the star of the show - the pork shank. So tender it falls apart when you touch it, in the most amazing sauce. I could have drunk it. Some roasted veggies spread around, and you put everything in a tortilla - oh my stars. Chef Edgar we are delighted by your creations. We finished with dessert. The churros were a big hit, but the dairy free cheesecake was just insane. A perfect creation. The textures and tastes all worked magically together in a symphony of flavors I wish could have lasted forever. I will never forget this meal, and I implore anyone visiting Cabo to come here. Town is cute to walk around too!

The staff (our server was Santiago Mejia) was so warm and thoughtful, offering us tastes of different liqueurs before ordering to make sure we’d genuinely enjoy what we chose — such a rare and appreciated touch. We started with the octopus ceviche and the catch-of-the-day poké, both beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, clean flavors. For our entrée, we shared the octopus, and it was prepared perfectly — tender, flavorful, and plated with real artistry. Throughout the evening, the chef surprised us with a series of mini complimentary bites — an amuse bouche, an aperitif, and even a small dessert — each one delicious and elevating the overall experience. I ordered their Mexican twist on an Old Fashioned, which was fantastic, and ended the night with a flaming Mexican coffee that was such a fun showpiece and the perfect sweet finish. Every detail felt intentional, every plate was stunning, and the service was some of the best we’ve had. If you’re looking for a memorable, upscale Cabo dinner with creative cuisine and genuinely wonderful staff, Don Sanchez is a must. We were blown away.

Hands down the best meal we enjoyed on our trip to Cabo. The atmosphere was extremely inviting, with lovely live music. The servers were extremely courteous and attentive. They explained all the dishes very well and clearly knew everything about the days’ menu. Now to the food! Each dish was so different and a delight to consume. There were also surprise tiny bites before each course so we ended up with a 6 course dinner. Will definitely be on our itinerary for our next trip!

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Don Sanchez, and overall, it was a memorable evening. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome with their friendliness and attentive service, ensuring that we were well taken care of throughout the night. The ambiance was enhanced by live music, which added a lively and enjoyable touch to our dining experience. We also appreciated the great selection of drinks, which complemented our meal nicely. As for the food, each dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, reflecting the chef’s attention to detail. The portion sizes were generous, and we ended up ordering more than we could finish—something we would have appreciated a gentle heads-up about from our server to help us avoid overordering. While we enjoyed our meal overall, some of the flavor combinations and the pronounced use of smoke in a few of the dishes didn’t quite match our personal taste preferences. This is likely a matter of individual palate, and others may find these flavors appealing. It’s worth noting that Don Sanchez is on the pricier side, especially compared to other restaurants in Mexico. For us, the overall value was just average, given the cost and our taste experience. a rich and memorable contemporary mexican culinary experience. the food was packed with flavors and the presentation was like artworks. the surf and turf taco was very flavored. the mushroom taco - personally i did not like the texture and the accompanying alcohol (tasted like chinese medicine). the entrees were both good! the black shrimp was perfectly smoky and the rice was just one of the best rices i’ve had! the fish was flavorless and dry but the avocado risotto was very good although a bit too salted. the churro was very heavy with the caramel and chocolate sauces in a good way. lastly, the waiters boxed us into a 18% or 20% tip when they could have asked “how much would you like to tip”. it felt like a dishonest practice and gave us a moment of yuck. also the music choice by the live performer / restaurant was pretty bad. the experience could have been better with mexican songs instead of trashy / generic american pop.

El lugar está ambientado con pintorescos motivos mexicanos, el servicio es excelente y el entorno muy agradable. Las entradas y los postres fueron de lo mejor, como plato fuerte tenían un especial de rib eye para dos personas que me pareció excesivo en precio y cuya calidad no era la ideal.

El lugar en sí está muy lindo, una entrada muy elegante y acogedora. Pasas por los largos pasillos hasta llegar a la cima de las escaleras desde donde puedes observar el restaurante. Hay una parte arriba más privada y muy linda. Abajo están más mesas con la decoración en una palapa alta llena de lámparas. El ambiente está agradable,muy tranquilo, a veces hay música en vivo que lo vuelve espectacular. La comida está bien, sin embargo para mi gusto no es tan buena y está caro en comparación con otros lugares. Aún así es un buen lugar para cenar en alguna ocasión especial. Y no de forma recurrente. Was highly recommended, beautiful atmosphere, nice service from most staff. Primary service person did not know the menu well when we asked him to describe couple of things. My wife’s octopus was great . My daughter and I each had brisket with risotto, sadly too salty to even eat. My wife was surprised by this because I usually salt my food a lot! A friend was at another table , had same thing and also didn’t eat hers. Politely mentioned to waiter and didn’t even get a response . Nobody cared in the least that nobody was able to eat it. Es un lugar muy caro, realmente la comida no es sorprendente ni espectacular para el precio que tiene. El lugar es lindo, el ambiente agradable y en el servicio bastante amables pero la comida deja mucho que desear porque el precio es exagerado

Es impresionante cómo en ocasiones da temor entrar a restaurantes “con propuesta”. Muchas veces estos lugares tienen precios elevados, lo que genera una expectativa de calidad que, lamentablemente, no siempre se cumple. En este caso, la suerte no estuvo de nuestro lado: nos tocó lo peor, una combinación de platillos caros y deficientes. Pedí un taco, un solo taco, que costó nada menos que $300 pesos. Pensé que por ese precio, al menos sería delicioso y generoso en porciones, pero fue todo lo contrario: estaba horrible y, para colmo, me quedé con hambre. También pedimos unas quesadillas de coliflor. En la comida mexicana, una quesadilla suele servirse en una tortilla de tamaño estándar, pero aquí nos trajeron una miniatura, de no más de 15 centímetros. Es sorprendente cómo el chef hace alarde de su “gran propuesta gastronómica”, pero, al final, parece ser más una estrategia para justificar precios exorbitantes y dejarte insatisfecho. Es lamentable que algunos restaurantes jueguen con la confianza de los comensales, sobrevalorando sus platillos y ofreciendo una experiencia que parece más destinada a turistas o a quienes estén dispuestos a regalar su dinero. Eso sí, las instalaciones son bellas y el servicio, aunque algo insistente, es atento. Los meseros realmente se esfuerzan, pero de nada sirve si lo que ofrecen en la mesa no cumple las expectativas. Tal vez mi visión no está alineada con los estándares de la alta gastronomía ni con la del chef galardonado, pero, sinceramente, un restaurante debería cumplir con lo más básico: ofrecer una comida rica y suficiente, no dejarte con hambre. Don Sánchez no logra cumplir con esa premisa.

Doy una estrella por ser el mínimo para publicar, si fuera posible calificaría con 0 estrellas, mi familia y yo tuvimos una muy mala experiencia con el paquete de cena navideña; el plato principal y las guarniciones destacaron por la ausencia de sabor. El platillo principal daba la sensación de estar comiendo pechuga de pollo en lugar de pavo, una de las guarniciones tenia un fuerte olor a cebolla y nulo sabor en las papas. En general la calidad de la cena fue menor de lo que hubiera esperado de la comida congelada, una lastima porque fue muy recomendado por conocidos y familiares que frecuentan el restaurante.

Caro y no lo vale en absoluto, mal sabor, porciones escasas y si consideran que son "gourmet" están bastante lejos.... No pidan postre!! la experiencia de su "chocolate trufado" fue la invitación a jamás volver. Pesimo

Una experiencia poco agradable. No tiene variedad de comida y los precios ridículamente altos. No recomendada a quien busca comida mexicana. El lugar muy bonito pero no recompensa la experiencia.

No suelo compartir opiniones de los lugares, excepto que sea extremadamente bueno o extremadamente malo! En este caso, MUUUUUY malo! El servicio de René: 3/10. Muy apresurado para la toma de órdenes, nos pidió ordenar entradas y plato fuerte al mismo tiempo, sin poder mandar a trabajar las entradas si no estaba ordenado el plato principal. No nos podían traer la amenidad de pan con Mantequilla hasta ordenar.. qué?!? Las entradas, realmente malas, una ensalada césar de $500 por 3 hojas de lechuga, una sopa de tomate incomible por la cantidad de sal que tenía, una sopa de langosta sin sabor... lo único rescatable el tartar de pescado, MUY BUENO y lo único rescatable de TODA la comida. Ordenamos el taco mar y tierra.. el empanizado chicloso, duro, sin sabor alguno.. las gorditas sin sabor también. Los cortes de carne rescatables, muy por debajo de otros lugares en el centro de san José con mejor servicio, mejor calidad de alimentos y muchos mejores precios. Rescato los churros con mole: diferente, original y un mix que volvería a probar. Definitivamente primera y última vez y sin duda sin recomendación alguna este restaurante.
