This is by far the most tradicional Mexican place I’ve found in the Bay Area. They use white corn and made their tortillas fresh in a very traditional way. Also their birria is phenomenal, just like it would taste in Mexico.

We were waiting for our car at Wheel Works and decided to try this spot for a quick bite. It was our first time and it turned out great the food was fresh, full of flavor, and served hot. The restaurant itself was very, very clean. The tortillas were warm and fluffy tasted homemade. I ordered the shrimp diablo, and the shrimp were not overcooked, they were perfect and tender. The sauce for the diablo shrimp was honestly the best I ever had with spice and depth in flavor. My husband got tacos and said they were delicious, and the salsa was one of the best he ever had. We were very happy with the service, prices, cleanliness of restaurant and of course the quailty of food. The waitress was very welcoming and checked on us multiple times, making sure we were satisfied. Would definitely return everything was on point from environment, service, and food 10/10! Keep coming here year after year, hands down best shrimp Diablo around!

If you looking for awesome birria, in a ton of styles, then this is definitely the place to try out. I grew up having birria most Sunday mornings as we had a local home in my suburb that sold it. I must admit they did not have quite the variety you get here but trust me it's all delicious. Birria can be a little intimidating for the uninitiated but submit to the birria gods and you will be happily rewarded. They have classic birria that comes as almost a soup. It is full of flavor and the meat is still form and not at all mushy. It has a great meaty flavor and no gaminess at all. Along with the fresh hand made tortillas they also bring you a plate with salsa for the birria, onions and cilantro (yuck, I'm not a fan of cilantro). I like to make tacos out of the meat and drink the delicious broth. They also serve dry(crunchy) birria and a dry birria(crunchy) rib plate that are super flavorful. I have never had anything other than the birria so I cannot speak to the taste of any other dishes but from what I can see, and smell, their other offerings appear to be nice as well. Now the location, it is your classic low budget dinning room, cheap tables, cheap chairs and loud music. It is authentic in that sense but can be off putting to some. I beg you if you want to try some good birria do not let that deter you. The food is awesome and everyone is there for that. I have never had a bad experience dining at birria tepa, other than maybe eating too much. 😀

The food was so good. I had their Enchiladas suizas, which came with a green sauce, which was a thicker consistency that was so delicious. My kid ordered a chicken torta and said it was really good. I did take some of her fries, and you can tell they are homemade, I ended up ordering a side of fries to go because they were so good. The Birria was really good too, and the pozole. Just beware because my youngest said it was spicy. I personally didn't think so, but if you have a low spice tolerance, it might be. The service was good. It was just one waitress doing all the work out front. But she was very kind and efficient. It wasn't busy so maybe that's why she was alone. I will definitely be going back. The food tastes authentic.

It has the texture of beef but MUCH more flavorful and not super fatty or gamey tasting like lamb. Friend recommended getting the broth on the side and then using the tortillas to make your own "tacos" and dipping it in the broth. Its been over 2 weeks and I cant stop thinking about how good it was and cant wait to go back. Perfect meal for a hangover or on a cold morning but really would be good any time of day. Definitely WILL be back and highly recommend!

This is a great place for Birria de chivo. Loved it. They need better salsas. Music from the jukebox is very loud.

Better then most places still it is the closest to real authentic mexican food that your Abuelita could make. Good birria and menudo.

Costilla dorada is my absolute favorite. But you have to be there first in line early because it runs out quickly, and not alwaysthey have. Music is too loud. I really like the servers, very nice to me.

The food was really good but the waitress was not friendly. She even didn't welcome me, upon my entrance she immediately asked, here or to go? The time I spent there she was loud and not professional at all. I hope she get more training in how to create a welcoming environment. I didn't give her any tips cuz I am not paying to feel uncomfortable.

It’s no wonder this place was empty on a Sunday evening - I had their namesake birria tacos and they were a huge let down. The tacos had little to no flavor - meat was bland and the tortillas tasted like cardboard. The only thing that was good was drinking the consome as a soup.

Couple of months ago I went there and their service was crappy their food was too spicy I requested it not be spicy I couldn't eat it I asked if I can get another dish the girls said no you need to pay for that one and then pay for your other dish that's not cool I would not recommend this restaurant for No One

I’m sorry to say worst service ever. The place felt cold and it didn’t feel like a family place. Food had no seasoning and food tasted burnt as left a bad flavor in your mouth after eating it. Waitress service was also bad. I’m sorry but are not going again.

Just letting you know when I get shrimp fajitas I expect a juicy shrimp plate didn’t get that at all and there wasn’t flavor. Old meat including the shrimp and was charged for water yes you heard me plain water. My families belly hurts 🤕 including me.

Birria was dry and flavorless. Consome taste like watered down salsa. Tortilla although it was handmade it was bland and broke into a mess of pieces after one bite into the taco. QuesaBirria lacked meat and for $9 I expected it to be bigger

Son ordered a burrito and they put stuff that was not on the ingredients on the menu and got upset when we told them it was wrong. I asked for manager and they told me they do not have a manager. If that it true it really shows, I am a manager and I would be embarrassed if my place was ran like this.

Honestly dont know if the flavorless birria was worse than biting into a burrito with uneven ingredients. There was multiple bites with only bean...should of trusted the reviews. When we arrived there there were only 3-4 other customers and at least 4 waitresses just standing around. None of the waitresses voluntarily came to assist us so my brother had to flag them down. The waitress took our order and didn't ask me how I wanted my eggs and I didnt think to mention how I liked my eggs because I thought they were going to be like the picture. I wanted Ham and eggs but they told us they had no Ham. I asked for Avocado and they said that they had no Avocado! It was only 2pm!! My brother and I felt slighted and ignored!!! We have our suspicions as to why (my brother said that he had not experienced such bad customer service from this restaurant when he and his wife go there). When I FINALLY got my food my eggs were practically burnt and had 1 bacon slice mixed in the brown eggs! It cost $10!!! The waitress only came to our table 1 time after giving us our food but made sure that she paid extra attention to the other customers who were the same ethnicity as the waitress. When were ready to leave we had to flag down the waitress AGAIN so she'd bring our bill. We waited almost 15 minutes just to pay!!!! The waitress never apologized for the delay and was absolutely the worst waitress ever. Not to mention the place doesn't look clean. I'll never go to this restaurant again and I'll make sure that I let others know of the horrible service AND food.
