For 8$, this spinach calzone with cheese was very delicious And affordable something I grab before I went home from the movies I will go back and have more
Delish. For right or for wrong, I always get the same thing at this place: a triple play with Mac & cheese, a meatball or two, and a salad and the bread roll comes with it. Yum. A few red pepper flakes give some kick to the mac & cheese. 😁 I usually go to the one in the Great Mall, but I was here today picking up something at J. C. Penney. Delish!
Good food and friendly staff. Thank You!
A huge shout out to Alex and Brandon for their exemplary customer service and they treated me with incredible warmth. The food was fresh and on point. I love the pasta with marinara sauce, Which is my go to for a pre-workout 💪🏼 They have such a positive attitude, and represented the business to the highest level possible. This is my go to when I come to the mall because of these guys!
Vegetarian: Excellent vegetarian lasagna with lots of spinach. The food stayed hot for a long time. Nice "To Go" packing. Pizza and other item I ordered were delicious too. I will try all vegetarian items. Friendly staff too.
Very friendly staff, and all the different sides and slices here are consistently great, been my go to place for lunchbreaks for months now!
I've gone there all the time, the food is great. What can I say?
Food is fresh, staff are nice and helpful, clean enviroment
Food was nice an good best pizza I've had
Friendly staff and clean with well stocked shelves. The food in the restaurant inside is very good and flavorful.
Very clean, more products for latin food and good prices.
Clean, well organized supermarket with a good selection of fresh produce, groceries, dried goods, and meat counter. Inside the market is a hot food counter and table seating with varied selection of Mexican food: tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tostadas, tortas, tamales, chile verde, goat stew, sopa, menudo con pato (Sat & Sun), various rice plates. One corner of the market is a tortilleria producing fresh tortillas on a production line machine. The menudo con pato is very good and does not have hominy in the mix. The tripe texture is cooked just right (not too chewy and not too soggy). The tripe does not have the overpowering smell of tripe. Chile Verde and goat stew (birria) are also good. The grilled chicken and beef are usually good, but sometimes can be dried if they've been grilled for sometime and kept in the cooked meat area. Al pastor is usually good, but occasionally they can be a bit salty. Food service is friendly and efficient. Likewise, grocery cashier and meat counter service is fast and friendly. The panaderia / bakery has a good selection of baked goods and pastries at reasonable prices. Cost for groceries and hot foods at this market is a bit pricey for its location. Groceries and produce selection: 5/5 Groceries and produce freshness: 5/5 Mexican hot foods selection: 5/5 Mexican hot foods quality: 4/5 Meat, poultry, and cheeses selection: 4/5 Meat, poultry, and cheeses freshness: 4/5 Bakery: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Prices for groceries: 3/5 (pricey) Prices for hot foods: 3/5 (pricey) Prices for baked goods and fresh tortillas: 4/5 (reasonable)
Happy with their service. Staff cleaning the restrooms did a good job. Employees are very caring and helpful for non Spanish speakers. The food court’s breakfast burrito was delicious. Great job.
Always an easy go to for their fresh Carniceria , produce, and bakery. They provide friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere in an otherwise part of the neighbourhood. I have been an on and off regular their for over a decade since my high school years at Independence down the street and make a point to visit their Taqueria on lunch breaks when I am in the area. The only complaint is the price is relatively high compared to other supermarkets, though I believe it is justified by the service and quality they provide.
I love getting food from the taqueria inside. Their fish tacos are extremely good, as are their burritos. The meat is really tender and flavorful. A little on the expensive side, but I think it’s worth it. Quick service too.
The staff are very friendly and professional at all times. Clean and nice envirement.
Fast pizza, pasta to go or dine in. 6:30 on Saturday good job here handling orders🙂. Pizza potatoes, spaghetti, zitti more spaghetti! They handled us 3 cutomers great. Food was good too. (as mall food its good enough ).🙂 eat up!...
The pizza was fine, no complaints. The only main complaint was that the macaroni and cheese was microwaved. The cheese and oil separated, though still enjoyable to eat.
Nice Mexican market. Produce and fruit looked nice and fresh. Wide variety of items. Would have given five stars but one item I purchased had two different prices in two different parts of the store. Naturally I was charged the higher one.
Very clean. Friendly employees. I felt that the security was watching me like if i was going to steal. I first ordered and paid from the area where they sell hot food, which all items from that area need to be paid for there. Then i went to the back to get some queso fresco. Security walked passed me. By time i walked to the front to pay for my queso he was standing right there at the check out. This was my first time there. I also thought their prices were high compare to other Mexican supermarkets.
Thus store always has fresh produce and a good selection of Harris ranch meats. I like the variety of stuff that you can't find at target and other big chain stores. They also have a taqueria inside that uses high grade meats for their food. It is always clean stocked and friendly. Much better than other store like it.
I like the fresh food section, and the meat counter. Also, you can get meals here to go nowadays, until they allow sitting inside to eat, which they have an area provided. They make fresh tortillas at this location although I think other locations are the same.
Okay food, staff seemed fine weren't going above and beyond but they did their job.
Very average, nothing that makes the pizza jump out as tasting wonderful
I thought I try them for my New Years dinner and got them on 12/31/25 @ 1 pm The Tamales from The Taqueria were good but they didn’t have much meat ! Hoping I got a bad batch and will go back and give them another chance
Very CLEAN place. The food, fruits, etc is all well kept and fresh. The oy reason I am giving it a 3/5 is because of the cashier at the restaurant. She is slow, and does not pay attention to customers. She talks and writes note while people wait to pay for the food. The management should loom at her performance.
This review is for the taqueria. I have been coming here for years. It's a quick stop for Mexican food in the taqueria. It's nice that you can watch them prepare your food at the counter . Unfortunately lately the service and the quality has gone down but the prices have continued to go up. This time I went in for 3 Chile Verde super burritos all with no salsa, and 1 no sour cream. To my surprise the super burritos are now $13.99. After she made them wrap them and I asked if she could mark the one with no sour cream. She either forgot which one it was or just didn't care because she marked the first one even though I knew the last one had no sour cream. I got home n cut them open just to make sure and she did mark the wrong one. The flavor was good but the ingredients were cold. I will continue to come for quick eats but I don't think it will be that often.
I buy a order of roast potatoes, almost break my teeth with a big rock or granite rocks inside the roast potatoes I know come from the ground but a list wash them for sure more have to be addressed to not happening again since the pasta it’s good but you have to be careful eating potatoes or get a good cheap dental service for sure.
Way to overpriced food is microwaved and pizza is bland
It's been a while since I've ordered from the taqueria. Tonight I ordered two Carne asada tacos, two carnitas tacos, and a regular Carne asada burrito. The meats were so dry that it dried my mouth, and the beans and rice in the burrito was flavorless. We were both so disappointed.
I live 3 blocks from this store. The quality of meat is great except is expensive of course taking in consideration inflation. I've been here many times but recently I went there twice 7/4/23 and 7/12/23 when I approached the register on both times I was not greeted not a single word which was a weird as a customer. Also after paying they didn't say thank you or bye or have a good day, nothing at all. After working for years in customer service you developed a habit of speaking with people. This Chavez location definitely needs more training in customer service. If any manager reads this review feel free to reply to this message.
What a BAD CUATOMER Service! Cashier was so rude, she is not happy working here...
I went to pay for my food and the cashier kept repeating that the charge didn't go through even though the card reader said approved. A few more iterations of this interaction and I checked my bank statement to see that I have been charged 4 times. So I show my bank statement with the charges to the employee and he asks me to try to pay again. They did not want to hand off the food until a receipt came out of the printer which it never did in the end. Unfortunately, the staff said they couldn't do anything about a refund. So I have to go file fraudulent claims for multiple banks and did not receive any food.
We went to Eastridge to watch a movie but first we have to eat. It was around 11am on Sunday. I was there literally only for few seconds when the Mexican guy is in a hurry to get our orders. I don’t even know what to order yet. He is so rude and I even asked him if he is mad or what. Food is not good too.
Gross. Bland. Stromboli was hard and bitter like . Pizza was mediocre. Garlic sticks were bland and somehow the best part.
This is crazy I would put -5 stars because this experience was wild so I went today to buy some groceries and we got some beer and my brother was carrying the beer to the register and I was carrying my baby and I had my nine-year-old daughter so when I get to the register, I gave my baby to my brother and my daughter was like mom do I help you take the groceries out of the basket and I was like yes, and the cashier all this time was looking at us so when my daughter touched the beer, she was like oh I can’t sell you the beer anymore because she touched it and I was like what I was like she touched it but she didn’t carry it or nothing yeah but we have this policy that if you touch it you can’t we can sell it to you. I was like she wasn’t carrying it in her their sign say we you must be 21 or older to buy beer, which is understandable and I agree but the simple fact that my daughter just touched the beer they were like oh we can sell it and the fact that the lady couldn’t even say anything before my daughter even touch them it’s wild never coming to the store again ever!!! The simple fact that my daughter didn’t carry a beer or try to buy a beer she just touched it. They wouldn’t sell it. This is crazy and they don’t have no sign saying that if you touch it, we can sell it.
BE CAREFUL EATING HERE!!!! I went to this supermarket on March 30th and bought food from their taqueria within the hour after eating here I've been extremely sick, stomach hurting, have to use the restroom more than a few times in less than 3 hours. I tried calling the manager to let them know but this rude lady answered the phone and said the manager wouldn't be there until tomorrow when I started to explain why I was calling and asked who I was talking to she hung up on me. I called back and she told me to call back in the morning. She didn't even care to know what made me so sick or showed any concern of trying to avoid other customers from potentially getting sick. She was horrible and I can't believe Chavez market has employees that work there like her. One thing for the food to make someone sick is bad and another to have people working there that don't care for the safety of their customers.
came here to try and cash a check and the security guard was being a see u next tuesday about a scooter!! not even a lime just a regular push scooter ALSO they don't cash checks they hold your check for A WEEK then you come get ur money this place is a joke
Why is this Mexican "supermarket" so overpriced? They're more expensive than Walnut Creek/Menlo Park supermarkets (Safeways)! Plus not much selection in all categories. Bakery items are overpriced for the quality of items, very basic and home cooked looking. The $2.50 Cheese Danish was good though, you can also just walk over to Yum Yum Donuts on the corner for $1.79 fresh made quality donuts or next door Duc Huong for fresh Vietnamese French bakery items & sandwiches (their lines are ridiculous though, too popular). Snack selection here are all Mexican, no variety whatsoever, no American, no Asian. Oranges and basic apples = $2.49/lb 02.26.24. Employees and security were all really lovely. They have a Taqueria and Coffee in the Market so you can have lunch here. Never been here before, had to visit for some basic items while waiting for Cardiologist appt across the street and ended up buying 1 lone banana, 4 Chupa Chup lollipops & the Cheese Danish :/ The driver who drove me laughingly said, "Everyone knows this isn't a safe neighborhood". Well yes with homeless and drunk people about on the sidewalks in daytime hours as well as security guards/metal bars at every store, and the condition of disrepair of buildings inside and out, I figured as much. Avoid. Also on the avoid list, the entirety of; McKee Rd, Story Rd, White Rd.
I love the carne asada fries, but service is horrible.I waited 20 min just so they can take my order. The lady’s making the food are very slow, and they still stop and start gossiping with coworker’s. Unbelievable, you see theirs many people waiting to order. Wow..
