Opinions de Duyên Dáng Restaurant San Jose
UPDATE: I came back to the restaurant today to try another pho on the menu, this one is with the rare filet mignon, the taste is still good and I also request more green onions to be added, just like how we normally have it in Hanoi. The only problem is with the rare filet mignon, the temperature of the broth dropped significantly while I prefer it to be boiling hot. I hope they can improve this. As a Hanoi born and raised, when I heard that this restaurant claimed that the flavor of their pho is Hanoi-style, obviously I need to check it out. I ordered the beef shank pho with fresh noodles and a poached egg yolk on the side (with the egg white being removed, that’s how we normally have it in Hanoi). The flavor of the broth is slightly saltier than what we normally have in Hanoi, but flavorful and umami intense. You can feel the fragrance of fish sauce being used in the broth. The temperature of the broth is right on point as well because in Hanoi, we don’t like our pho to be served cold or lukewarm, it needs to be boiling hot and steamy. The meat is fresh and flavorful without being gamey or beefy in an unpleasant way. The noodles are soft and chewy with a pleasant mouthfeel. A few things that I feel they could improve is: the amount of spring onion (we tend to have more spring onion on top of our pho, the amount I saw today is a little bit sparse), the sliced beef shank should be medium-rare when served and cooked by the residual heat of the broth, not well done. Overall, I am satisfied and will come back next time.
Really enjoyed eating here. The vibe is great—a clean, stylish mix of modern and traditional decor. But the star is the food. The broth here is perfect; it’s beef-forward and balanced, not loaded with sugar or salt. It tastes authentic and healthy. Make sure you order the flat fresh noodles—the texture is much smoother and more tender than the usual dry noodles. My picky toddler, who usually refuses beef, ate three slices of brisket here. That is a true testament to the quality of their meat! Great spot to hit up after Happy Hollow.
Pho Dang is a hidden gem for Northern style of Vietnam for every Pho lovers! ❤️ The broth is beautifully clear yet deeply flavorful, with a natural bone sweetness and a fragrant aroma that hits you the moment the bowl arrives. The meat is sliced just right, tender, juicy, and never chewy. What truly sets this place apart are the homemade chili sauce and pickled garlic in vinegar. Even the bean sprouts are meticulously prepared, with roots and heads removed, small detail, big foodie points. The space is spacious, clean, and modern, making it a comfortable spot for both casual meals and repeat visits. I’ve eaten here many times, and the quality has been consistently excellent. If you’re in San Jose and craving authentic, well executed Vietnamese pho, Pho Dang is absolutely worth a stop. 👍
Charming little southern Vietnamese restaurant, located in the heart of San Jose’s Little Saigon in a shopping plaza. Menu is limited and focused only on beef pho, but the soup was full of flavor, and the fresh noodles had perfect texture. Good noodle to soup ratio, and the steamed bean sprouts were fresh. Large drink menu for coffee, tea, and juice. Fast and efficient service. Decent sized free parking lot that fills up quickly.
A bit pricier than other pho restaurants in the area, but quality is also higher. If you want good pho, a nicer ambience with clean bathroom, this is the right place for you. The downside of this restaurant is that they don't really have vegetatian pho, but they do offer vegetarian vermicelli. Location is convenient since it's located right in front of Walmart, if you need to get groceries done as well.
The best Northern style pho in the Bay Area. Check out their pho bap bo hoa, one of the best thing on the menu. I really like the clear broth and fresh noodles here
I must say the best pho ever had in the US. I have tried a lot of pho restaurants, the taste of broth and tenderness of meat - PERFECT! No need to add anything else. The staff are attentive, though we waited a little bit but once you got seated, the foods are served immediately. The EGG COFFEE is amazingly good
Pho Dang is truly the best place for authentic pho in the Bay Area. The broth and sauce deliver the genuine taste of Northern Vietnam, making every Pho or Bun Cha feel like home. The restaurant’s design, including the tables, chairs, bowls, spoons, and chopsticks, is well thought out and adds to the experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The space is clean and comfortable, and the restrooms are well maintained. I strongly recommend dining here and look forward to returning.
Decided to finally give this place a try after being on my list for a while. It is on the more expensive side for pho, but the quality of the fresh noodles and the rich broth are worth it. Their homemade garlic hot sauce does set them apart from other places as either a dipping sauce or directly into your bowl. This place will now be a regular part of our rotation.
Great Phở. The Ox tail and Fillets Mignon that i ordered here is so good and delicious (and I think it tastes better than Pho 21). The place is nice and clean, and workers here are very polite. Public Parking is plenty. Will be back for more sooner.
It’s the best Pho I’ve had in San Jose yet. Could be on par with Pho Ha Noi chains, but each has their own unique flavors. - Fancy decorated interior. Even their sauce corner on the table was very pretty. - Even though they are new, the service was quite good and fast. - Compared to the drink menu, the food menu was quite limited. They only serve Pho, true to their name. Just Pho with different flavors and toppings for different audiences and nothing else.
IMO, this is one of the best Pho places in the bay area and I've been to many. First, the most outstanding that I never seen in any of the Pho restaurants in the cleanliness. The place is decorated tastefully, obviously using a professional interior designer. All the decorations, from tables, chairs, interior decors, down to the water glasses and even chopsticks and straws are of good quality, not the cheapest ones like others. The menu is limited, focused mainly on Pho. No appetizers or other food items. Beside of Pho, then there's some dessert and smoothies. I ordered a few different kind of pho, and all of them offer premium meats and flavorful broth. I was impressed that the side veggies served with Pho are carefully prepared. Beside of the typical basil leaves & bean sprouts, they also have culantro which is not typical and not easy to find here. More impressively, the bean sprout was steamed to ensure the cleanliness as raw bean sprout can easily be contaminated with bacteria. One of my most favorite parts of Pho Dang is that they serve their home made Sriracha & pickled garlic. This is so unique and so good! I tried avocado smoothie & soursop smoothie and both were amazing (be careful as soursop could be mild laxative if consume in large amount). The egg coffee is strong and smooth like how it should be. I like the desserts as well since it's not too sweet but my friend did not like the texture. Overall, Pho Dang is one of a kind Pho restaurant. Not your typical ones. The ambience does not feel like a Pho place at all and I'm quite happy to find a place with comfort food that I can sit down and enjoy. No rush!! One thing they can improve is the service to match with all the great things they already do. Maybe have a system where they can repeat and enter the order to the system so they don't get the order wrong?
Offer beef pho only in the midst of San Jose surrounded by all these pho shops should tell you how confidence they are with their offering. Indeed that's how good the pho is. (They do offer noodles with clear booth only, or egg soup, for vegetarian). Booth has great flavors, noodle is fresh, and the beef is tender. They pre-cooked the bean sprouts too. The atmosphere and the decorations are elegant and stylish.
Great food specially the grilled pork vermicelli. The broth is so, so good! The service was pretty good and the ambiance very family like, with plenty of family with kids but not overly noisy. I highly recommend this place.

Easily the best phò in San Jose. Broth is perfectly seasoned, not too salty. The meat is great quality, very tender not too fatty. Love it

The perfect broth and amount of fresh noodles. The meat was thinly sliced. Tastes like home cooked pho. Broth isn’t too oil, very flavorful. The carrot orange juice is refreshing.
Stopped by on a Monday morning before 11AM, parking was easy and there was no wait to be seated. We were very impressed by all the food, everything was very clean and flavorful. The broth was great and very nicely seasoned, with a more mellow seasoning profile that feels more comforting and home-like than other places which can have too much onion or are overseasoned. I tried the shank and it was very unique. The meat was very flavorful and had a bit more texture which was very welcome. The tendon was also great, and had a nice balance of soft, tenderness and a more robust meatiness. The parking in front of the restaurant got quite busy when we were leaving, so plan accordingly if visiting during peak lunchtime. Overall a great experience and definitely one of the top spots for pho in the area.

A little different from the usual pho, the soup here is sweet and refreshing, and I didn’t feel thirsty after eating it, so I guess there is no MSG. I ordered fresh noodle, which was very delicious! Although there is not much meat in it, I like the soup. The bean sprouts are blanched and have no smell. Service was fast and friendly .
Parking is easy to find as well as the restaurant. We got seated right away. I loved the decor and how welcoming it felt as soon as we walked in. When we ordered the pho, came out right away and the drinks took a bit longer to come out. I loved their bamboo straws and how everything had their logo on it. The pho needed a bit more flavor, but the meat was good and had a lot of meat compared to other pho places. Customer service was great and will definitely come back.
Decided to check out this pho restaurant while visiting San Jose. Didn’t realize they only served pho and nothing else (no appetizers). I ordered the special pho with a side of scallion oil (which is a must in Cali) and a sugar cane juice. The broth was so rich and flavorful. I didn’t enjoy the scallion oil that much here since it made the broth too salty unlike elsewhere. The pho comes with a side of onion but we ordered extra without knowing. They do ask if you want regular or fresh noodles which I stuck with the regular noodles (coworker said that the fresh noodles broke easily). High quality meat but the portion is on the smaller size for the price. Service could be friendlier but the pho came out really quickly.
I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect pho—chasing that dragon from spot to spot around San Jose—and finally decided to give Pho Dang a try, even with all the new places popping up lately. Let me just say, this one really stood out. First off, the vibe inside was unexpected in the best way. The decor, the furniture—everything felt high quality and well thought out. Nothing cheap or thrown together. It had a cozy, homey feel, but with real Vietnamese character, which is honestly rare to find in NorCal these days. Now let’s talk about the food. The broth leaned a bit on the sweeter side, but still flavorful, and the meats were super tender. What really blew me away was the little details—like the pickled garlic (huge win) and this house hot sauce that was straight fire. Not your basic Sriracha—it actually tasted like something you'd find in a legit spot in Vietnam. Spicy, bold, and totally addicting. Service-wise, it was on point. The staff were kind, super attentive, authentic. Overall, Pho Dang definitely earned a spot in my top pho joints in San Jose. Worth the visit if you’re after more than just a bowl of noodles—this place delivers on vibe, flavor, and service.

The vibe is 5/5. They offer fresh pho which is rare but the broth is lacking flavor.
3 months ago this was what I wrote about this place “There are couple delicious Pho restaurants in San Jose, but I think this is one of the best. It’s evident that the food was cooked with love & care. The broth is clear & flavorful. I really hope they can keep it up.” Now, 3 months later, I’m disappointed. They wouldn’t be able to keep up. We ordered 2 orders for to-go. When we got home, we realized it’s nothing like they served us at the restaurant. The noodles portion was so little (not even enough for our 6 years old girl). The meat portion was not enough either. It’s quite a rip off for $20/bowl.
