Absolutely amazing experience. Originally, I requested a Yamazaki, but unfortunately they did not have it available. I was connected to someone who was very knowledgeable of the whiskeys they had and ended up getting a special leather bound menu ( amazing presentation ) with a organized list of their options. I got to try a few samples and settled on a new Islay whiskey I had not tried before. The service and the experience was amazing. I've never raved about a bar before, but this is one of the best I've ever been to and I truly thank the staff for the astounding experience!
Amazing jazz night on Mondays. Felt like what a jazz club are traditionally supposed to be
We’ve visited Five Points twice now. Both times, I’ve enjoyed my cocktails, but the first time my husband wasn’t impressed with their old fashioned. This latest visit, however, was a turning point for him - he said the old fashioned was a little bit spicy in a way, which is unique and he really liked it. I think we’ll be adding this bar to our regular rotation
I love trying new places and was happy when I found Five Points! They were one of the only bars open later on a Wednesday night which is great for peeps like me who are off of work during the week. I chose this place based off the vibes and decor, it really seemed like a cozy social setting to relax and have some nice cocktails while listening to great music. Had great convos with the bartenders and I even put some new people on a whiskey sour I've been lovinggg lately, but only with a specific whiskey 😉 No complaints really but if I HAD to choose something it's that the music was just a smidge too loud. You really have to lean in to hear each other and basically shout, but eh sometimes you just need to be surrounded by music. Once you have a couple drinks in you it's enchanting, definitely a nice night 😊✨️
On Wednesdays, all cocktails are 50% off. I asked the staff to recommend a good one, and he kindly explained what he recommended in detail. The unique flavor of what he recommended was really good, though it was so strong! You should visit on Wednesdays!
I love that they have a wide variety of cocktails. I've liked all I tried, but the Green Ray is my favorite. I don't think I'll try anything else there anymore. I had a few appetizers/ snacks and thought they were good. I keep getting the fries. Service and seating options (inside and outside) are great. I like that they serve drinks when other nearby bars are closed.
Five Points Bar was the perfect last stop on our barhopping night in San Jose. They were doing a Harry Potter–themed pop-up, and it honestly did not disappoint. The bar was decked out with fun details, and the Harry Potter–inspired drinks were all on point. My favorite drink of the night was the Phoenix Ember of Gryffindor — a bourbon-based cocktail with honey and hot apple cider. It was incredibly smooth and warming, making it the perfect drink for a cold winter night. Definitely one of those drinks you remember after the night is over. One of the coolest surprises was the hidden speakeasy in the back called The Bowery. It’s a small, intimate space with just a few places to sit, which gives it a very cozy, exclusive feel. They even had letters hanging from the ceiling like in Harry Potter, which was such a cool touch. It felt like a little escape from the main bar, and they were playing different music back there, which added to the vibe. Overall, Five Points Bar is a super fun spot with creative themes, great drinks, and a unique speakeasy experience. A must-visit if you’re barhopping in San Jose or just looking for something a little different. 🍸✨
I stopped by for some beers and the vibe was really lively, so I might come back and get ready for a night out.
I was looking for a restaurant with live music on a Monday night, I found five points, and I was thrilled. They had a live jazz/blues band that seemed to bring in different instrumentalist. It was so much fun to watch. I had the most delicious nacho fries. The drinks were really good, but had a lot of ice and they were playing the raider game on TV. My server was super nice and attentive. What an awesome night!
Between the tasty cafe they had/have and the carefully crafted cocktails, this place is worth a stop. Locally owned by some cool folks, this bar is a nice place to relax. It has TVs but not with audio, so the scene is chill. No non alcoholic beer selection, so I drank Coke but the chicken sandwich was delish and the fries had a ‘MickyDs’ saltiness n quality to them that I enjoyed. My buddy got a cocktail with chartreuse that he enjoyed enough to order a couple. The staff was nice. Quiet yet friendly, and attentive when we got her attention. Beyond the basics of what to expect from a bar, this place also has several cool elements like pennys on the floor, a secret room, and lots of great historic vibes with the interior. This is the kind of place that lasts for decades, and I hope it does.
Absolutely love it here. My wife and I came here for a few late night drinks on a Wednesday. Service was excellent. We where taken care of by Tom and Benjamin. Their drinks where amazing. We got x2 of there top drinks, Off On a Comet and The Green Ray plus a few extras. Came a little late for food (no food after 10pm here) but as for the environment and drinks, Highly Recommend it! We'll be coming back for sure with more friends in the near future! Side Note: Bartender mentioned live music on Friday & Saturday nights
I've gotta say, this may be one of the best bar ideas and executions (no pun intended) that I've ever seen. Five Points is based on the real life characters and happenings portrayed in the movie Gangs Of New York. Not only is the decor stunning, but the cocktails are out of this world. I came for Happy Hour and loved it so much, I stuck around for the jam band Jazz session later in the night, and then proceeded to shut the place down!!! I had the Blood, List, and Diamonds, their slightly different take on a Vieux Carre. It was smooth, not too sweet, and strong. And the addition of a luxardo cherry puts it over the top. Tyler was an incredible host and bartender and gave me the history of the place and decorative style. There's even a little speakeasy room where you can have private events, or they open if it gets crazy on the weekend. Even the bathrooms are decorated with hand painted scenes from the gangs. Because they do not serve food on Monday, they are pretty relaxed about letting you bring munchies from outside locations. I did have to run out to get something to eat, but I was back for the music. Every time I'm back in San Jose, I'm definitely going to drop in and say hi
Our favourite cocktail bar in San Jose; staff are legendary and make incredible drinks. Pull up a spot at the bar or out back and enjoy their menu
I went while they had the Harry Potter themed drinks. They were all tasty
We visited Five Points on their live Jazz Monday night. The atmosphere was impeccable, the energy was vibrant, music was highly enjoyable, and the drinks unique and tasty. We got the Green Eyes and Green Ray, both excellent. Will certainly be visiting again🍹
Step into this cool old saloon styled gem in downtown San Jose. The bartenders are true alchemists, concocting drinks that taste like liquid history with a modern twist. Most Friday nights the scene is combined with live tunes setting the mood. Plenty of seating, even a cool nook with couches at the front. Great collection of alcohol on the back wall and experiences bar tenders aim to please with whatever your tastebuds desire. Great place to stop for a quick drink on your night out. 4 out of 5 stars - just because I think they should have more restrooms for a bar this size.
If you're into whiskey, I'll suggest this place along with a few of their menu drinks. Very diverse crowd and great social atmosphere. Great friendly bartenders. If you're into a drink or two, this would be great place to go. Of course parking might b a problem so I suggest uber. You don't know how many times you're gonna say last glass last glass. I would suggest the Bees knees for a starter cocktail if u don't mind the sour sweet taste. Then I'll fallow up with an old fashion.
This is the best cocktail bar I have been to in San Jose. All the cocktails are so unique with interesting ingredients such as bee pollen, thai basil, even whole eggs. Plenty of other places charge $14+ for a very basic cocktail with cheap ingredients. $13/drink here is honestly a steal for the quality and variety of ingredients . This is definitely going to become one of my regular bars from now on!

The atmosphere was incredible, with a cool old-school vibe that made it feel unique. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and they made some fantastic drinks. I tried a couple of their signature cocktails, and both were delicious – balanced and flavorful. The live music on Monday night was a nice touch, adding to the overall experience. The bar was busy, but the service was quick, and the staff handled it well. I’ll definitely be back for more great drinks and a fun time.

Cool bar with lots of seating. It has an old rustic vibe and on the night we visited there was live music which everyone was enjoying. Drink menu is standard with an in house cocktail menu that's special to the location. Good selection of wine as well. They could do with maybe one more server. Seemed a lot of one person to do but it was a Tuesday so perhaps a usually slow evening that was surprisingly busy.
I was here for a private event and had a nice experience. LOCATION This bar is conveniently located near San Pedro's square (SPS). You can park in the SPS parking lot which provides 90 minutes of parking for free and only $1 for each additional 15 minutes. It's a short 5 minutes walk from the parking lot to the bar. AMBIANCE I like the spaciousness and warm decorated vibes that this place gives. Noise level is reasonable. Their restrooms are also clean and tidy. SERVICES Our server was attentive and made me one of the best Amaretto Sour drinks. Overall, I enjoy this place. Though I haven't tried any of their food item yet, I heard good things about them from my friends who've been here before. I'll definitely consider Five Points next time.
Good drinks and atmosphere - walking distance to the Sharks game and a nice stop prior to the game. We ended up getting a great booth on the back of the restaurant and it was a delightful experience. The service was also excellent. Revised / 5 stars when we arrived for service, atmosphere and the drinks but when the food came it was a solid 2 stars. Being gluten free, I had limited options and ordered the nacho fries. They came cold and not appetizing at all. Rounding up to 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ based on the other attributes but not a dinner destination for GF or even others.
This place is a comfortable small bar. At night after a sharks game it gets busy. Music started off as nice soft jazzy music but turned into club music after 9 but other than that it was fun.

I had a really good experience at Five Points Bar thanks to Humberto. He was super chill, friendly, and really helpful the whole time he definitely made the night better. The drinks were solid and well made. That said, the food didn’t quite hit for me. The wings in particular were pretty dry and felt overpriced for what they were. I’d definitely come back for the drinks and the service, especially if Humberto’s working, but I’d probably skip the wings next time.
Cool bar come early to avoid crowds. The bar makes good cocktails. Bartenders are rude and not very personable. Limited tables chair and seats. Long lines for bathroom. Dirty tables and floors. Pricey drinks
Renaissance- An era of cultural and philosophical rebirth among other things, right? When you walk into Five Points your reminded of this amazing period of time at every turn. From the wooden structure of the place it’s self, it’s library, the long wooden bar, rails and tables, the paintings, and even some of the words on their menu like labyrinth or pergola. In my opinion it resonates of an older period in time, and the mood is set to unwind, have a drink and dialogue. You won’t be drinking any new or rare ingredients but is definitely a rebirth of flavors in the way they’re conceived and presented. Beautifully made with- too bad I didn’t take a picture of labyrinth- reasonably fresh ingredients. As majority of local establishments you gonna be paying market price high. Roughly spent 80 bucks on four drinks and fondue. The whole experience that was exquisitely thought out has been tainted though. Sadly is like a white sheet of paper with a black dot in the middle. Although it only covers a tiny percent of the sheet it captures all of your attention. The black dot at Five Points is the bartenders- hence my three stars-seems as if they where working on speedy auto pilot, apathetic and lackadaisical. I believe there was 3 or four of them behind the bar and three small groups of people sitting. I don’t want to generalize but from my interactions and what I observed with others-at different levels-they all displayed the same attitude. Obviously they’re just doing a job but you gotta embrace what your doing and put some joy in it. That’s my opinion…. It won’t stop me from frequenting the place but I do hope they improve because I really want to love Five Points. I will possibly update if I see it fit. As for now if you want to be transported in time and have a beautiful and delicious drink with a twist “ leave a kiss but in the cup”….- Ben Johnson Would recommend Labyrinth, under the pergola, or flight of the bumblebee.

I recently attended and planned a team bonding event at 5 Points in San Jose for a cocktail class. Unfortunately, despite the potential for a fun evening, the experience was largely negative due to poor customer service, with the exception of the Event Coordinator, Stacey. First, the event was quite expensive at $75 per person for just one cocktail. Scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30, we were taken aback by a strict start time of 5:45, which wasn't mentioned in our contract. We were not permitted to enter the room until the start time, and when we had questions before the event, we were told to wait twice, which was frustrating. The Event Coordinator provided a menu beforehand, but it differed from what was actually served. We were incorrectly informed that half of the menu could accommodate vegetarians, but in reality, everything was pre-made, leaving few options for our group. We also faced difficulty when trying to accommodate a last-minute guest. The manager refused to help, even when I offered my spot, claiming that setting another place would require a complete room reconfiguration—despite the simplicity of the place settings. The bartender commented on the new chef and Michelin-star menu, yet they failed to accommodate our party of 15, mostly vegetarians. One guest had a grapefruit allergy, and despite informing both the bartender and manager, the response was dismissive. We requested family-style dining, but the food was served individually, causing confusion. The plates were appetizer-sized, and vegetarian options were severely limited. The mushroom curry over seasoned rice lacked any mushrooms. In an attempt to create more enjoyable options, I asked for seasoned rice on the side to pair with chicken skewers and coconut shrimp. However, I had to repeatedly ask before receiving a response from the manager, who stood across from me at the bar during the menu review. The Bowery room was advertised to fit 25 people but felt cramped for our group of 15. Despite these issues, the Event Coordinator was sweet, attentive, and communicative. However, the on-site manager offered no guidance or reassurance, leaving us feeling disrespected. After discussing this experience with a friend, I discovered that poor service and management are common issues at 5 Points. Additionally, I found out that the Event Coordinator works offsite, which highlights a lack of communication between them and the on-site manager. This disconnection, along with the manager's unprofessional demeanor, contributed to a disappointing event.
Honestly the vibe here isn't too bad I would have definitely given this a higher rating but I mostly disappointed by the fact that they added a 10% gratituity to every single order done over the weekend. I I've never been to a bar that adds it automatically. In order to get the most out of it you would have to order multiple drinks so you don't keep going back and getting charged again another 10%. I think I will reframe from coming back here again there's a lot of good bars in the San Pedro area that don't even do that. if you're going to charge people a automatic 10% then Increase your prices a little bit on your actual menu so that way it seems more fair and you can provide a more livable wage for your employees.

Bartender is rude. I didn't give tip and he got even more mad. Owners should take into consideration that tip is for good service not entitled agreement before I order drinks
Listen this is my local bar I love this place… I think this guys name is Deandre or deshawn… I was in line for this bathroom and he let two guys cut in front of me. Made fun of me for standing in The line for the women’s restroom. So I tell my friend that there is a one for men’s and a one fire womens. He his told that there is o lot o e line…… later that night I got to the back patio I ask if it’s open he tells me that it is I go outside. Bout 10 minutes later I have staff asking me why I’m outside and that I shouldn’t be here. WHY WOULD HE LET ME OUT THERE… I love this bar but this man needs to figure out what he’s doing this feels extremely homophobic.
Last night, a friend had the opportunity to visit this place. They were having a good time and got in line to enter the establishment. Once they got to the bouncer, the security guard denied entry to my friend because they were wearing a tank top. A tank top??? Keep in mind, some ladies were wearing a bralette, and gladly being let in. The security at this establishment is sexist and has double standards. Why would you turn someone away for wearing a tank top? Absolutely disgusting behavior by security guards at Five Points. We will take our business elsewhere and we recommend everyone else to follow suit. A place that does not turn away customers is Dr. funks bar. It is right around the corner of this sexist establishment, and they offer delicious food and beverage options. Parking is right across of Dr. Funks as well so it is a fabulous place to stay for the evening. Zero points for the five points, shame on you.
I don’t really do bad reviews but I was really upset about this business. We were having a 30 year birthday next door and want to continue our celebration at five points. We were a group of 8 Asian American girls but only had a bottle of champagne between the 8 of us. The bouncer declined our entrance and continued to let other people that were not Asian American that looks very intoxicated through the door. We asked why and the bouncer just simply said “no”. No explanation or anything.
Menu says one thing and I got another (spicy). The manager was aware and didn't approach our table to say anything. Soy Glaze vs hot chicken are very different. You shouldn't have to ask if we want it off our bill. Then to be forced to close out after I verbally expressed how I was going to get another beverage seemed like retaliation. As a business owner I would of handled it way different. Simple apology would of sufficed. Maybe they thought we were college students... picture shows I ate the chicken out the hot chicken breading and what the menu says it was suppose to be.

I'm very shocked this was the only place in Dowtown SJ that did not accept me due to my outfit, basic cut sleeves shirt, jeans and shoes. Due to my outfit, I will need to cover my arms, so my friend lend his jacket and security/bouncer still did not want to let me in and told me to completely change. All I can say when someone looks ugly as a bouncer/security, they get will be hating on you since your very good looking. Customer service lost, all good. Just looking out for y'all.
