Excellent spot. Had a server named Raag (hope I remember the name correctly) and he was the dopest server I've ever had. We ordered the food & beer he recommended after we shared our taste preferences, and he went 4/4. We got the steak salad (no lettuce in it btw), a fried chicken sandwich, and a couple beers. Everything hit the spot. We will be returning next time we are in San Jose.
Pre and none pre covid review. Upon walking in we were greeted right away. But we went for the bar. The outside and inside atmosphere was great! A lot of mix in age and everyone was respectful. Not talking to loudly or any screaming of any kind. The inside is updated and new looking. Clean and inviting. The bar is a well constructed bar. With a very proper bar counter and chairs. And many great selections of liquor. Moving onto the food. Mac n cheese. Absolutely amazing. It's A LOT to and is easily a full meal. Can be shared between 3 people without a problem. If you like a bit of spice add the jalapeño purée. It's excellent Roasted bone marrow. 4 large ones. Excellent appetizer. You know this is crazy to say. But I'm not kidding when I say it. Best roasted bone marrow I've ever had in the US. Without question. And that's saying a lot! If you like a good roasted bone marrow you cannot go wrong with this place. HIGHLY recommend it. Bison burger. Large portion of food once again. Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked meat ( asked for medium rare ) and it was in fact medium rare. Seasoned well and not overbearing. Highly recommend this burger if your feeling a burger. With that said Will I return? Oh without question. For the bone marrow alone! Food: Very much above average. Staff: Excellent! Very helpful and professional. Decor: Updated. Good atmosphere Bathrooms: N/A didn't use them.
New favorite spot in downtown. Their food has been hitting the spot. Had to come back and try out their different dishes. Favorites so far are the delicious mussels, string french fries and spicy shrimp linguine. Hoping to work my way through the whole menu. Also, great cocktails, service and staff. Can’t go wrong!
Really lovely place. Great food. New York strip was amazing. Will come back.
Amazing. Tri-tip, fry, salad special was perfect. Tri-tip cooked just enough, tender and favorful. Fries crispy and soft. Drinks: old fashion and classic Jake &coke…perfect Service crew were friendly, prompt and not in my face. Quick service as well. So coming back.
Food was delicious, even the salad was good!
We were in San Jose for a convention and finally "found" this gem of a place! Everything...really EVERYTHING was wonderful. The food was deliciously prepared, the staff was welcoming and made a real and genuine effort to engage and make our meal a great experience. More than well-worth it! Remember to visit and enjoy!
My sister and I went here for the first time on a Friday night and sat at the bar. We shared the chicken wings and a salad and they were amazing! Our drinks were delicious and strong. The bartenders were so much fun and entertaining. The lighting was perfect and the music as well. The barstools were comfortable and the vibe was chill. Will definitely come back and highly recommend.
Fabulous food and great small bar atmosphere. They have a great bar and also offer outdoor seating. I love sitting outside when the weather is nice (which is most of the time in our lovely state). The wait staff is wonderful and food delicious. Great place to have dinner before a concert or game in downtown San Jose.
This place is great! Really nice portion sizes for the money. The food tasted really fresh, and had loads of flavor. Everything was cooked to perfection. The marrow was fantastic (baked). The wings were very good. The octopus appetizer could have been a meal.. Very tasty and cooked perfect, it wasn't chewy at all. The burger was really good, but at then end of the day it was just a burger. Great beer selection too.
Super casual and friendly atmosphere. Nice place to go grab a drink and meal. Their mussels are phenomenal! Wings too . Bartender who works there likes his job and make sure you feel welcome anytime you came. Service is beyond the expected every time.
Good food, good atmosphere, great service Havent tried the cocktail menu but the wine selections is good and the food options are good Stake was cooke med rare! As requested and flavorful
Great food and drinks with excellent service! We got here early and they filled up fast. Highly recommend the calamari. It was perfectly prepared!
The area where this restaurant is located can be very busy, especially during Fri and weekends, so plan accordingly. There is a parking garage nearby which is very convenient. The night we went for dinner was quiet so we were able to get a table right away. Our server was very courteous and helpful since it was our first time there. They have a good selection of beer and cocktails. The four we ordered were great. Appetizers were very generous in portion: calamari and the French fries. Both came out fresh and crispy with loads of flavor. Our main entrees were surf and turf (6oz sirloin and grilled halibut) and NY strip steak. Again, both came out perfectly and we're delicious. Overall a great place for drinks and meal with friends or date.
Had the house special skirt steak with rosemary pesto mash potatoes and grilled vegetables. Super delicious 100% going back. Rahg our server was great and got us everything we needed including blackberry sours and other drinks. 😎
I honestly never leave a review unless it’s really good, or really bad…this was definitely the first. First off the bartender Raag, from start to finish, completed the whole experience. Drinks, dinner, experience, all on point. I live in Texas and came in on a business trip and found a gem. Will definitely be back and will be bringing coworkers and friends. Thx for a great evening.
We were celebrating a friend's birthday and I found Firehouse No. 1 on Opentable. It was Friday night and parking was a bit challenging - recommend getting there early. We were seated right away in the back corner of the restaurant. Our server was friendly and prompt. Drinks were served right away and well crafted. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS! The bone marrow appetizer was devoured quickly, as was the calamari. My friend's rib-eye steak was a perfect medium rare. I had mussels and they were perfectly seasoned and cooked. We ended up staying & chatting at the restaurant for a long time. It got loud at times but overall the volume was manageable. The staff brought out complimentary (?) cheesecake for my friend's birthday, which was a nice gesture. My only complaint is that our bench seats were not the most comfortable. Otherwise everything else was awesome. Would certainly recommend this place and return for future visits.
The food was delicious, the staff was wonderful and the wait was minimal considering how packed it was. I didn't know what to order but the bartender (John) recommended the pork chop and I have zero regrets - it was FANTASTIC. The only minus was the host telling us we'd have to wait 45 minutes and then having to rush to finish beers that we got next door because we got a text 15 minutes later.
Tucked away among many other restaurants is this small spot with a local flair...but the food and drinks are truly world class. We shared the beets, which were so delicious and then I had the pork chop which was cooked to perfection. I also had a delicious italian gin concoction that was perfect with my meal. Highly recommended. #localspot #happyhour
Absolutely fantastic gastro-pub in downtown San Jose. Location is on market place strip where a lot of restaurants are located. The beer and specialty cocktail menu was extensive. The food was fantastic. Had both the wings and the Red Wine Braised Octopus Fire Grilled ... Perfectly prepared with fantastic flavor!
This sports bar has a great atmosphere...Awesome place to be during big games with all the big screen TVs all around. Food and drinks are FANTASTIC!! Attentive staff who are very familiar with their various cocktails/menu to help you decide. I have been here a few times and always loved their daily specials which were always great! Overall...a great place to hangout with friends!
After hooking up with Pillsbury and his son Doughboy we headed down to what Pillsbury calls the eatin street...lots of options he says. Well, we parked in the big garage there, and walked from about here to there before rankin it down to 3 joints. We couldn't settle on which place so we did rock, paper, scissors, and that didn't work because Doughboy couldn't understand how paper could beat a rock, so..we did odd man out, first with our fingers, then with 3 quarters, and again, Doughboy didn't understand the concept because he says each quarter has the same guy on it..! So I asked him this "If your pants were on fire which of these restaurants would you go to?" He thought about it for about 5 seconds..laughed and said the Firehouse Restaurant! It was my choice all along! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

Really nice place. I went in kind of early so it wasn't too crowded. Staff is on top of it. Had the waygu burger, it was awesome. Had a great old fashioned. Will definitely go back again!

I can (and have) ordered my entire meal from their starter/appetizers menu. The bone marrow is a favorite. As is the Bacon Mac & Cheese but the Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps are the best thing on the menu! In the "Booze" category, the Corpse Revivor and the Habanero Matador are my personal choice. Craft beers and a decent wine selection. This is a Date Night kind of place! #SanJose #DateNight #SanPedroSquare #Foodie
We were looking for a nice place to meet a friend for dinner and Firehouse No. 1 fit the bill. The staff was very friendly and made some good drinks suggestions. We had the Phillie cheese steak, calamari, side salad and both coffee and vanilla bean creme brulee. Everything was very tasty. We sat inside but the outside seating looked very inviting.
The buffalo burger and the mussels were good. Wasn't too big of a fan of their mixed drinks though just stick with beer.
The service at the bar was great, as was my old fashioned. My food was alright, nothing to rave about. But the inside of this place is very chill and cozy. I’d come back just because of the ambience.
Good service. But my shrimp carbonara came out too salty. The mixed drinks were delish. The total came out a bit pricey for the quality of the food.
We were able to dine in now that 25 percent is allowed. We were the only one in the restaurant. Everyone was in the patio. We had to fill out a form for the city of San Jose. The service was good. The food was only above average for us. We had the calamari for appetizer. The batter was good but the calamari was a little chewy. We're calamari aficionados so our standard is a little high. I had the pork chop. It was juicy enough, but a little on the bland side. It was also a little small. The wife had the steak. Again it was juicy but a little bland. So it was an above average dining experience.
I was here working for a week and was eating fast food and my body was highly upset about the whole food situation. On our last day in town I found this place with great reviews. Bartender was great and answered all our questions, I finally went with the pork chop. It was easily hands down, the best pork chop I ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Add a old fashioned and I was in a great place to be. Absolutely 🔥. Will definitely return to give the 5 Starz this place deserves. Do yourself a favor and just go!

On food alone, I would give this place 4 stars. The macaroni was really good but the charcuterie had no variety and was fairly boring. The layout is packed tight in the back area seating and the whole restaurant is very difficult to navigate if anyone else decides to get up and move at the same time as you. Service was strange to say the least. There was only one server for the 10 tables so we only managed to get 1 drink each but our food came ridiculously fast after ordering and everything came out right after the other. We had intended on sharing mini courses but were bombarded with everything very fast with no time to enjoy them separately. I was really hoping for more because of the reviews but overall, it was just okay.
This place was decent. They validate parking which is a plus but there were a lot of other things that made this place only a 3 Star restaurant. We went during happy hour so a lot of appetizers and drinks were half off; the waitress charged us full price so we had to send the bill back. The food was good, but really rich. I had 10 bites of my food before I started getting a head ache from all the rich flavors. Good atmosphere and nice outdoor seating. Just wouldn’t spend $40 on food here. Maybe just drinks.
Came here for brunch today and it was OK. I think if they had more staff my review would have been 4 stars. Our waiter seemed as though he was the only waiter working, and unfortunately drink and food did take awhile. That being said I didn’t realize Sunday’s were only the brunch menu and he did tell me the kitchen could accommodate me ordering Mac + cheese. He was very accommodating and I think had he had more time to dedicate to each table it would have been a better overall experience. The food was just OK. I will be back to see how it is in a few months maybe.
We came during happy hours. $10 on selected appetizers, $5 on selected beers/ wines/ cocktails. Their mussels are good! We also ordered the wings, bison burger, calamari, a couple of HH drinks, and our total before tips was $90. Will probably come back for the mussels and try other entrees. Though we will sit at the bar next time, the sit down area was a little loud even though there were not many people inside.
We came here for some dinner and drinks, my Husband and I. The place looked pretty packed and the menu looked good. We decided to try it out. We were not impressed with the food. My Philly had lots of fat in the meat. My husband's steak was not the cut they said it was. However, the cocktail was delicious! And the waiters were very nice.
Nice establishment, the staff was polite an incitefull of the menu. The ambiance was nice as we chose to sit outside an enjoy the San Jose 🌙. The food was an I would definitely be back an recommend.
