Best parking, ready access and quick seating. Dined in lounge, beautiful tables and chairs, quiet atmosphere and fast service. Food was amazing! Generous portions and everything tasted scrumptious. Service amazing felt special
You have to try their food the steak fries and the BLT!!! It had the thick Bacon fresh tomatoes and the crispiest lettuce.it was so good I'm thanking my friend for referred me to the Drying shed thank you
This is one of the best places to just come sit down and have a great meal and a good drink and just leave your worries away
The steaks are a revelation! Food here is honestly in the top 3 in the bay area. Do you want to happy, come here and order the steaks. Honest to God amazing! This is what food with heart and passion tastes like.
Drying Shed is a true gem in San Jose for steak lovers! No frills, no fuss, just excellent steaks cooked perfectly every time. I’ve dined here a few times and always leave satisfied, knowing I’ve had great cuts prepared the way classic American steakhouses are known for. The atmosphere is comfortable, the cooking is consistently on point, and it’s always a place I look forward to whenever I’m craving a proper steakhouse experience. On my last visit, I ordered the Prime Roast Beef (medium doneness) with a baked potato, and it was outstanding! juicy, flavorful, and exactly what I wanted. The staff makes you feel welcome, adding to the charm of this long-standing spot. Portions are generous, so you truly get your money’s worth and because the steaks are high quality and huge, you might even go home with half your plate! If you’re looking for an old-school steakhouse that delivers on quality and tradition, Drying Shed is the place to go.

The Drying Shed is a neighborhood classic but it has been YEARS since I've had dinner there. What a great surprise. Yes it is a steak and seafood place but I was able to find many vegetarian options. Great quality food and amazing service (thanks Ed). It definitely has an old school food vibe to it -- in a good way. Crunchy toasted garlic bread, amazing (homemade?) croutons in the salad, great homemade slaw, and so on. Would have preferred not to have the TV's on while dining, but admittedly we were there early, so maybe that isn't the standard dining experience there. Overall a great dinner.
Hidden gem! Absolutely beautiful steaks, perfect crisp and chew balance. Everything was beyond delicious. The bread was amazingly soft with a crispy shell (not hard), and the croutons were awesome too! Chocolate cake was delicious. I want to swear a lot, really, that's how good it all was.
Large portion, love the clamp chowder and the warm bread. Great service.
Had the best clam chowder I could even imagine. The prime rib here is better than the House of Prime Rib. The waiter was proud as can be of everything to do with this restaurant and it showed. You don't see this kind of pride in workmanship everyday and know this was not a paid endorsement. The clam chowder was so good I ordered some to go and their croutons for the salad to go with it, wow!
The Prime Rid, meat is awesome cooked perfectly as ordered. I asked for the sinus clearing horseradish, it's a must have, ask for the hot horseradish. The baked potato is pretty standard with all the fixings. Very polite and good support staff as service servers. I had the extra large cut of meat. And I had plenty of leftovers for the next day's lunch. We will be going back. I didn't know but Tuesday discount dinner night. Same dinner a lower price.
we loved the food and there was a lot of food. It's kind of dark in the dining area.
A longstanding neighborhood go-to for San Jose locals. Delicious classic steak house. A large event space. Plenty of parking.
The server was super nice and super helpful. The food was great! Really enjoyed the meal!

This was a nice little stop in for a nice steak dinner. We went on a Friday evening and didn't see too many people there, and for me the ambiance was lacking a little bit. The food though was very good and we enjoyed our time! The portion sizes were quite large so you definitely get your money's worth and the wine that we got was very tasty. It's also worth mentioning that the bread they provide is baked onsite and its very delicious. Great steak in a casual, old-timey setting.

Felt like I was in an 80s movie. Standard banquet hall type place but in need of some major redecorating to update to current times. Very dark, no windows to let in any light. Food was average. Pretty much what you would expect. All the standard banquet/buffet type dishes. A little creativity never hurt anybody. They should have more fun with their menu and not be afraid to think out of the 80s box. The lemonade they provided was amazing as well as the dessert.

This review is only for dining on Tuesday for their prime rib deal. The prime rib was very delicious, the food was all around pretty good. Got mushrooms, salmon and scallops. Mushrooms and scallops had lots of butter if you are into that. The building itself seemed like it was dying, but all I really care about is food. I would come back here on Tuesday again for some prime rib.
7/13/24 added menu. Nothing to rave about. Inflexible on prime rib Tuesday. Customer does not come first. Prime rib is basic. Forgot to take pictures. Too hungry. One waitress. One bus person. Not very busy. Fries not crispy. Dinner rolls basic.
Last here in 30 years. The food was very good back then and it appears to be very good still... But here is the problem. My friend and I came to try out the karaoke for the first time. My friend has to use one of those manual scooters to stay off of one of his feet. As we entered the lounge to look for a table, the waiter ran over and yelled at us that we were not allowed to bring his scooter into the lounge and ORDERED us to leave it in the small area near the exit. My friend cannot put any weight on his foot and we explained that he couldn't walk. The waiter said he didn't care. Not his problem and to leave the scooter or get out!!. We managed to find a small table for two at the back of the lounge and were able to maneuver the scooter so it was out of the way. The waiter served everyone around us and didn't come to take an order from us for over an hour. I ordered a coke, (we had just eaten dinner before going there). My friend had spent his cash on dinner and didn't have his card, so said he just wanted a glass of water. The waiter made a scene and demanded we order something or leave. My friend asked for coffee, and the waiter said they didn't serve coffee!!! So my friend ordered a diet coke too. The waiter never brought it to us. About 30 minutes later, the KJ came over and said the waiter wanted us to leave because he needed the table for paying customers.. she apologized for his rudeness and asked us to sing one more song before leaving. We did and then we left. IF I come back it'll be for the karaoke. And, now that I know the "Rules" I'll buy a meal, despite the rudeness and total lack of compassion for my friend's situation. .
Desperately needs a new touch... They're stuck in the 90s! Time to Refurbish the Decor, Revamp the Food with current trends, Re-establish the Hospitality!
First of All I would like to Say I Have Been to the Drying Shed Several Times and the Service & Food Were Great, I Made RSVP for Thanksgiving Dinner For 15 People at 1:30, We didn’t get Seated till after 2pm. After waiting Our Waitress took our Order for Drinks instead of Asking what we wanted She Told us they had Wine and Soft Drinks, They she asked us to Raise our hands if we wanted Wine or Soda (I felt like a Kid) So Finally our Drinks Arrive and Our Drinks were in Plastic Cups (No Dishwasher) She Finally comes Back takes our Order Raise Your Hands for Prime Rib Or Turkey, waiting for her come Back to get Refills on Our Drinks, Finally our Food Arrives all but 3 Pieces of Prime Rib were Over Cooked, My Turkey Dinner had about 4 Small Pieces of Turkey And Finally We Never Received any Rolls with Our Dinner. I don’t recall our Waitress coming back to our Table until it was Was Time For Dessert & Coffee, They Bring out Pumpkin Pie on Paper Plates ☹️ and 2 Cups of Coffee and she be Right back with More Coffee when I Looked Over to another Table she was Serving them Coffee, Coffee finally Arrives Cold, By then am Not to Happy about the Whole Evening. I Just wanted to Pay and Leave, I Honestly can Say I will Not Return for Thanksgiving Dinner Again or Recommend The Drying Shed
Decided to have a wedding party at this location but due to unforeseen circumstances the event was unable to happen. I called the location and was unable to change dates for a year later. Lost deposit. Is this how this business operates? I would not recommend this location. Their food is inedible.
If I could give this place a -1000 I would. The Customer service was AWFUL. Do not and I repeat DO NOT go to this place. The people here only want your money!

Very unpleasant experience. If you are going for food or to book their venue/buffet please save your money. The food here is very subpar like below average staff was a bit rude and just seemed like they didn’t care about anything. Again the food wasn’t bad it was TERRIBLE I have no words !
