Fun dive bar. So many walks of life and everyone seems to get along. Place is CASH ONLY, so keep that in mind. Stick with beer as the cocktails were kind of weak and beer was cheap (like $4.25 for a Guinness). Everyone was friendly, relaxed vibe, nice bartenders. We will definitely be frequenting this place more often.
.Joel is the most awesome bartender EVER! Love Molly as well!!! They know how to mix a good drink. Love dancing to karaoke on Wednesday with Bobby D..Best KJ EVER!! Fri. and Saturday love the bands!! It is a DIVE bar and a bit racy for some I guess! But, I LOVE this bar!
Staff is very nice & efficient! Wednesday's are Karaoke nights! Awesome atmosphere! This is the place to be if you love singing, making friends & line dancing! I highly recommend! Must visit when in San Juan Capistrano!
Swallows is a unique old country bar! Lots of history.. fun people.. live music and cold beer! We did not eat there, just had drinks and enjoyed the atmosphere! Fun place!
We had snack food because we already had dinner, beer and wine between four of us. Super fun and entertaining atmosphere! Everyone is welcome, EVERYONE! Check website for band night, dance, different events.
A variety of bands play there Tuesday through Saturday nights, Sunday afternoon. Country music/dancing on Thu and Sun... 2-step lessons on Mon night 6pm
My husband wanted to stop here because of the Marine sign, but we are glad we did. We just had a few drinks to cool off and enjoy the music. We enjoyed the atmosphere and laidback over all look of the place.
Great little bar and I think a historical landmark. On the weekends good live music and a fun atmosphere. This is generally an older crowd. 40s + up into the 60s. A good place to get your classic rock fix and throw back a couple of adult beverages.
It's a great dive bar, and Rating reflects this. A surprisingly goid devil hotdogs with jalapeños and Chipotle sauce. Great country dancing and a fun, courteous crowd.
A good morning drink and cocktail on a Saturday at this is the place. Stop by and get a little business done and then stopped to get a cocktail Brandy and sprite. Nice cool dive bar. I felt comfortable and safe and I plan to return to check out the nightlife. Super cool antique store or mall next door so I’ll return to check it out
Always have a good time. Swallows reminds me of Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar and Grill" Every your of person shows up and is welcome
The good old days 1999 - 2004 on Sundays Tiny would serve up some great orange yum yums(screwdrivers made you perfection)! Great place to hang out and the crowd was intermixed with the rich folk coming over the hill with the locals! Had great times with a lot of good people! God Bless Joey Cumo!
The soup was delicious, thank you so much ❤️ Olga
Best dive country bar in town! cheap drinks, fun vibe, always have bands
I go to the country 2 step dances lessons with Debra on Mondays and I love it!!! Debra is an amazing instructor. Christine is an excellent bartender. Its happy hour all-day Monday. I enjoy it so much that I make the drive from North County San Diego! The steak dinner for $25 is a great value. I'm so glad a friend told me about this place!
We spent the afternoon walking around and then went to the swallows inn for some live music. You really good atmosphere. The band was good. The part tender was friendly and courteous and quick. We had some tacos that were just amazing. Fun place to hang out.
Didn't try the food, but this bar is an old time classic. The walls are covered with celebrity autographs and the bras and panties on the ceiling will leave you feeling giddy. The service was excellent. The band was excellent. Overall I give them an A+
Great hole in the wall with excellent service. Iconic place!
For a tourist like me, it is an exceptional experience. Cool, relaxed people having a good time without the hustle of looking "good". Nice and polite service. Affordable prices. A unique and authentic American bar.
Great place to bring your friends or family in a Monday night. Get steak dinner or Salmon and nice crowd and dancing. Relaxing not to crowded . Great little local place. Supports Our Veteran. Staff is super nice and accommodating. Chef makes amazing fresh hot food. 10 Stars!!!?
Old watering hole from the 80's when i was in the USMC. Came to our 40th reunion and stopped in to wet our whistle and reminiscing about old times. Beer is cold whisky is poured. What else can you say except drink up and have fun.
Thursday is a big h-down barn dance with the quintessential gentlemen cowboys ready to dance with you. If you're unfamiliar with the Two Step they will teach you. We had so much fun!!
Great tacos and cheap drinks. You cannot beat it. It's a dove bar but with amazing food.
This place is awesome, an authentic cowboy style bar that takes you back to a different era of life!! The staff was friendly and fun, great selection, all sorts of memorabilia, funny pictures and tons to look at while you enjoy a cold one!! Cal is a great guy and I’m glad I was able to meet him in his bar! Next time you’re in San Juan Capistrano, check out the Swallow’s Inn!!
Stopped in randomly because we heard country music 🎶 great vibe.casual.interesting visuals....don't forget to sign your bra and leave it behind! Also for the smokers there's an old school cigarette machine and outdoor patio to actually smoke
What a great place to hang on a Saturday afternoon. I’ve been lucky enough to play there with the band Tightrope over the weekend. But on the stage or in the floor, the drinks are good and the crowd is fun.
Very fun bar with live band. Closest to country saloon bar in SoCal. Lots of interesting decorations hanging from the ceiling. Good to dance and loud singing.
This is on the 'must see' list for friends/family visiting from out of town. 😊 So much history within the building and the ever-famous ceiling covered in bras. 🤣 Everyone has loved the visit and talked about it for weeks after.

This place is a favorite among old-school folks. The people are super friendly and always ready to give advice. The food is made with Mexican flavors and is really well-prepared. They have a full bar and plenty of security guards to keep things safe, even if there are some rowdy patrons. It’s a great place to meet new people and enjoy some live music and dancing every night. It’s like a piece of American South tradition.
A great cowboy dive bar! Its been in SJC for years! Local party spot mostly mature folks who still like to kick it up and country dance. A few 30yo’s! Great bands! Generous pours! Come On Down!! Security are young Marines 😉🥰 and the Manager was a Gunny 😎
Went here for the Marines 250th Bday. Outstanding place to be. Great food, good times, fantastic people, awesome history. Met the owner, Ret. U.S. Marine, phenomenal gentleman. Look forward to going back just for the hell of it. RETREAT HELL!
This place is legendary, what a vibe. This is the dive bar we all need in our lives. Bartender poured them heavy which is appreciated and great prices. We even bought some hats because they were so dope. Band was awesome and just made for a great ending to our night. Do it, go… I dare you not to have a good time! :)
They have food from outside vendor after 2pm. You can order food from Restaurant across the street and go pick up. This place is a Dive bar. Great drinks and bands.

Down home country western bar. This place is a locals hot spot. Expect a crowd and expect to have a blast! Process on drinks are what you would expect, nothing special, nothing that is a bargain. The photographs on the wall, the bras and panties covering and hanging from the ceiling, this place has history and culture. If your downtown in the history district and looking to have a good time and dance, you must go to Swallow Inn!
This is thee dive bar in San Juan Cap, and is a stark contrast to the rest of the more upscale watering holes in this part of town. This is where you find all the Harleys in the parking lot. But we arrived here by rail. This is just a skip from the train station. Enjoy the decor indoors, which largely consists of used ladies undergarments, or soak in some of the foul mouthed humor from fellow seedy types on the patio. Good times.
Funky atmosphere. A collection of women's Bras hanging on the ceiling. If you're into that kind of thing go see it
Stopped by after work waiting for my train. I give the bar tender a $20 for a $5 bottle corona. After that I order me a k-sa-d-ah with steak, $15. I give the change from the bar tender to the cook. The cook tells me I'm a dollar short. You do the math. The k-sa-d-ah was 5 stars alone, but that bar tender....
In town for a wedding and heard the music from the street. We went in. The place was packed. The music was great! We met some really solid local people who were celebrating all sorts of things. The only downside to our visit was the bartender. He's the kind of guy who doesn't belong in the hospitality business. He was grouchy and I'm pretty sure rolled his eyes when I ordered drinks from him. We wanted a second round, but I didn't want to order from him. There was another bartender, but that line was longer than the grouchy guy's, so we left to grab a bite to eat. Maybe being a jerk is that guy's way to keep people from overdoing, IDK, but he was definitely a momentary downer for an otherwise great day leading up to the wedding today.
Went on a Sunday afternoon, following a band I like. There aren’t enough counter bars, or places with a true dance floor - so points there. Their tap selection was good, and a beer was $8. It was a little too small, incredibly loud, crowded, the bar tender was rude to my friend, and the energy was chaotic. The vibe was “spring break, but 30 years later.” The clientele was extremely irritating, with drunks crashing into people in the dance floor and trying to flaunt… something? Pros: country, dance floor, live music, good beer, dancers

We have been going to The Swallows Inn for many years. We take the train and it’s a whole day thing. This last Saturday we were treated very rudely by manager Clayton ( that’s the name that was on his shirt) We arrived a little after 10:00 so we could get a large table for our group. The band wasn’t going to play until 2:00, but our group needs to be able to sit, so we arrived early. We sat at two tables that were on the side where the restrooms are. There were stools on both sides of the tables. We moved the tables together to accommodate our group. When the so called manager and security came in around1:30 or so, we were told we could sit against the wall and had to move the table back t the way we found them. So we did just that. Then the jerk of a wanna be security kid came over and told us to do as we were told. I went to the bar and encountered “Clayton” who has no customer service skills whatsoever. I explained that we had been there since 10ish and nobody said anything to us about the way we were sitting at the table. He said he didn’t care, we needed to put the tables against he wall and only 3 stools to the table. So where were we all supposed to sit????? He was just a total jerk!!! We ended up staying for the band and had a great time, but I will be very recluctant to go again. They have no ADA seating as he told me. 4 out of the 8 of us are handicapped. He was more worried about us taking up space on the dance floor than working with us to accommodate everyone.

Non-hygienical practices. The woman bartender with blonde long hair was tasting the drinks licking a straw and just casually inserts the same straw into the shaker used to make the drinks.
Didn't eat duh! Only 2 stars yup 1 for each bartender. Service with the proper smile and attitude. My kind of attitude not for the faint at heart!
This is the worst bar I have ever been to. I was innocently waiting in line to use the men's restroom when a woman came out of the single use womens restroom and said "hey, there's no line, go ahead and use the this bathroom." I said thanks and used the bathroom. The instant I came out of the bathroom an extremely rude and trashy bouncer said "you're gone. you are leaving now." Without ability to close out my tab he forced me to leave. That behavior was completely absurd and unawarrented. I will never be giving them my business and I strongly advise any human who goes to the bathroom on a daily basis to avoid the terrible and abusive behavior or this bar in case Mother Nature calls and a polite female offers the bathroom to you. What a terrible terrible experience. Unbelievable.
Unfortunate experience, zero wow factor. Upon entering, I was greeted with "welcome, we don't allow you to bring your water in. I wanted to spend my money there however, I was not impressed with that comment and went elsewhere. I do not recommend this place due to this experience.
Spent $147.00 beers & shots Gal behind small bar took my bucket of beers , still had a couple of fulls in it. I called her out on it. She shows me a cardboard box of empties says these are yours. Bucket holds 6 showed me 4. She instantly called security. We were already leaving. I don’t stay where there rip me off.
Presented our ID’s to two different bouncers, both refused to let us in or check with managers about our IDs, they could not provide a valid reason as why we were denied other than “we were out of state” and other made up excuses such as missing security features. They asked for our passports to prove it, but since we were traveling domestically we did not have access to them and would not accept photos. I understand that the bouncers do not want to lose their jobs, but coming up with multiple false excuses on the spot does not seem professional in any sense.
Refused to serve because they get to tell if an ID is real I guess they’ve never seen a REAL ID first bar I’ve been rejected from will never recommend nor return
