My 95 year old father and I love Sushi. We travel from San Diego just to meet our friends there 2 a month. Super presentation and great friendly service has been given over the past years. It is a must try if you like sushi.

Great meal every time. Nicole is great. Actually all of the staff has been great. Everything so far has been fresh and delicious. Our favorites are the spicy tuna crunchy hand rolls and the carpaccio sushi is yummy. And the Yakisoba is fantastic if your not in the mood for fish. Definitely the best sushi we've had since moving to San Juan Capistrano.

super super delicious food with really high quality fish and friendly service. their fish to rice ratio is amazing and the flavors in all their dishes are so so so good. i especially loved the tuna carpaccio, the fish quality was melt in your mouth with a light and refreshing sauce. the tuna crispy rice had the perfect texture, and were so savory and delicious. the mixed tempura is a very good portion and everything is friend perfectly. their baked mussels were also creamy and delicious. you really cant go wrong with anything here.

Tasty food. Very good sushi rice, firm enough to stick together, tasty, and not too hard, not too soft. Raw fish piece is the largest size of what we have had. Tempura batter is also one of the best we have had. Draft beer Asahi is buy one get second one half price. Nice.

The cleanliness and spaciousness of the dining area, warmth and family-like service of the waitresses, and freshness of the fish is unparalleled. The chefs really prepare each piece of sushi with great care using really high quality ingredients. You get unbeatable quality for a very reasonable price. High fish to rice ratio in the sushi, delicious unique salad dressing, and thinly coated, crispy tempura of the sweetest vegetables. Chef Daniel was a superb sushi master and prepared a beautiful plate. Nothing bad to say here.

The BEST SUSHI in Dana Point - and in the OC that I’ve ever had! I loved how you can taste the freshness of the fish with each bite. The flavors of each roll were so delicately balanced and well seasoned that I did not even need to dip each piece in the soy sauce on the side. Every order we tried was unique in its flavor profile and kept you wanting to take another bite. I like how they use a thin layer of rice with the rolls and were generous in their portions of the fish/other ingredients. I LOVED every single item we ordered and especially the Yellowtail Carpaccio and the Jeff Special no-rice roll. Their Matcha Ice Cream and Coppa Pistachio desserts were both wonderful and not too sweet! 10/10 would recommend! Visited once during lunch and during dinner and at both times the service was fast and the servers were so friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely keep coming back when I’m in the area.

Best sushi I have ever had (considering restaurants in the same price range). We had 2 rice rolls, 1 salmon crispy rice and a no rice roll. In all of them, the fish was fresh, the color of the dishes with the combination of the ingredients was so inviting. And finally every bite was delicious. Total bill was $84 considering 20% tip. Each roll is around $16-$18 with 8 pieces each. If I ever go to California again, I will definitely come back. Probably will try more of the no rice rolls and nigiri which should be great with the fish so fresh.

Dana Kai is a go to for flavorful rolls! They have their “no rice rolls” which I highly recommend. The quality of their fish is great so having no rice allows you to appreciate it even more. It’s a chill vibe and service is always good. This is definitely one of my favorite sushi places in Dana Point!

I like this place primarily for their no rice rolls. Their Daniel and Jeff special rolls are amazing! A little pricey at $18 per roll, but worth it since they have no rice and are packed with goodness and flavor. Service is excellent, atmosphere is nice. Will be back!

We had their Philly roll and yellowtail Kama. Best sushi I had in a while. Rice was perfect and their Philly roll had additional ingredients. The Kama was perfectly cooked and texture was great. Authentic Japanese.

I didn't think it possible that Lunch could be as good as their Dinner experience, but Dana Kai delivers every time! So much care and attention to the quality of the sushi and the overall dining experience. When I am traveling and eating sushi elsewhere, I realize that it always pales in comparison to Dana Kai! This place is top notch and always a great value for the super high quality food. The owners are always involved and ensure that everyone leaves with a positive experience. I can't wait to come back again soon!

Awesome little Japanese joint in Dana Point. Had the Salmon Teriyaki, alongside some California rolls, some sashimi rolls and some spider rolls. Everything was savory and delicious! I loved their teryaki sauce.

Crazy Monkey is the Best I've ever tasted, Baked Mussels are Amazing, their sushi 🍣 is fresh and delicious. Great customer service, depending on time of the day you go depends on how busy. I was very surprised they had brown rice which is great for people that can't eat white, that was perfect. Best Sushi place I've been to. The amount you spend is how hungry you are lol.

Food was great. A huge selection of rolls for no rice rolls. My kids who don't care for crab ate almost all of the soft shell crab appetizer. I had to fight for the last claw!

We were visiting from Las Vegas and came to eat here. We thought, like in Vegas, it was all you can sushi but found out it wasn't. The food was still good and service was great. Definitely would go again.

The food and the atmosphere are great. Tea is great too. The service seemed to have a little trouble when we were there and we had some confusion about pricing but beyond that everything was great and they were fast to adjust. It was crowded too so it honestly wasn't their fault. Prices are a bit high so this is more for "date night" or "night out" kind of sushi rather than "casual" sushi. Definitely worth it tho. Just double check on the seasonal pricing before you order :)

The food was very good, the staff were very friendly. The restaurant has a middle of the road atmosphere and level of finish; it's just not interesting or exciting. The sushi is very fresh and very clean. We had a wide range of menu items and they were all very good.

This place has pretty decent food. The fish quality was very nice. The service needs some work. The waitress made us circle everything we wanted on a paper menu; even non-sushi items. She would not take the order verbally. It was a little strange, and they still forgot part of our order. They were pretty accommodating after I brought it to their attention. Despite the sushi being very good, I felt that it was not made very well. The sushi kinda fell apart.

I don’t give too many negative (or neutral 3 is neutral to me) but here we go. The location is awesome and easy to get to from anywhere in the Dana Point / Laguna Niguel area. Minimal wait time and clean establishment. The food was pretty darn good. The table we were seated at wobbled and so did the one behind us and to our left so changing seats was not an option. The service was sub par on ever level. The restaurant had all of 8 people in it and 3 sushi chefs, it took 50 minutes before we received cucumber salads. And another 40 before receiving the 1st of 3 hand rolls. I refuse to recommend other restaurants in reviews, because that is flat rude, but there plenty of close options with way better service in the area.

Ordered some noodles and 4 rolls. The noodles were solid. The rolls were not… so heavy on sauce you can’t taste the fish, felt like very Americanized sushi. The servers were nice, did overcharge us but fixed it quick.

the good great, it was really good. my boyfriend and i sat at the sushi bar and i was a little disgusted they were using there hands instead of gloves to make the sushi, as we were leaving, they came running after us to give them a tip… the service was ok, the food was great. the waitress asked if i wanted water and she filled mine up only half way. i was disappointed that this is how they represent there culture. very disappointed. no need to chase after your customers for a tip. during our meal, the other waitress had to come between me and another woman to grab food, she would just come up and grab it, there was a lot of personal space that i think they could work around.

This is a friendly Korean run Japanese restaurant. Nice people and quick service but the California roll was the worst I’ve had in years. Same quality as Albertsons premade sushi. The price was fair at $8 or so plus tax but I tossed it in the trash after the first bite. They also only have low sodium soy sauce which I dislike as it has almost no flavor.

Reservations were made for 7 PM, on a Thursday night. It was packed. We got our table , drinks 30 min later.. took our sushi rolls an hour and they forgot one… No one came to see how we were doing or if we had what we needed. food was good, but the service was horrible.

Service was slow and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. They got our order wrong and gave us a roll instead of a hand roll. 30 minutes after eating there I became very ill. Couldn’t even make it home before we had to stop for a bathroom. My Boyfriend then became sick and threw up all night. I would not recommend coming here.
