We usually come most Sundays after church. Abbie always waits on us when we come in and she is ready with our order. She has a smile on her face and excellent customer service. The cafe is lucky to have her on their staff. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My friend and I went to this lovely cafe before our train ride about 2 weeks ago. We went right around opening time and were the first people there. The staff was absolutely lovely and was super welcoming. I am not very good socially and do not often go out to restaurants so I was a bit awkward and unsure of how to proceed upon entering. The staff directed me where to go and immediately provided service and recommendations. I got the half order of French toast for an extremely reasonable price, it was a massive portion and everything was delicious and homemade. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, and even the customers who came in later were kind and in good spirits. It seems this restaurant attracts the best kind of people. 10/10 would recommend!
Great place for a casual meal. The food was delicious and well-priced, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.
They have a great breakfast, but it’s even better when you have Esther as your waitress. Asked for crispy bacon and she brought the crispiest bacon I have ever had! I’ll be back.
!! I had a breakfast burrito sausage/bacon comb with hash browns inside !! Hands down great. The salsa there is spicy and I want more ! Thank you Abigail for great hospitality! 🙂
This is a lovely little place. Just a charming rustic cafe, but the food is so so good! Get the Migas and the Chicken Fried Steak! There is so much flavor without one thing being overwhelming! The gravy is also phenomenal and I'm not usually a gravy fan. The Salted Caramel Cheesecake was delicious as was the Peanut Butter Pie. The servings were generous and the service was kind, sweet, ans swift. It was a lovely experience!
I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it’s still my favorite spot downtown. The community wouldn’t be the same without it! Great food and all my servers have been phenomenal to us. Outdoor seating on the square is dog friendly which makes coming here a special treat for me and my chihuahua!
Cafe on the Square never disappoints! I opted for the two tacos listed under the side orders, one chicken fajita and one beef fajita, asked for lettuce. Perfect meal! Will leave room for a pie slice next time.
This is an old fashioned cafe that is a joy to dine in. It harkens back to most likely the 1930's or earlier with its tin ceiling tiles. I liked the quaint ambience. The service was very good with my breakfast meal being delivered quickly after ordering. I had the Classic Breakfast which consisted of two eggs, potatoes, bacon (or ham), refried beans and flour tortillas. My eggs were prepared exactly as I requested, and the meal was a large serving. The coffee was also flavorful. The price was reasonable for such a large serving size. I enjoyed my dining experience here and will definitely return.
Wow! Came here because of our son's recommendation. What an amazing place! The vibe feels like an old school diner. Breakfast is served all day, and the menu is quite large. Highly recommend the Three Amigos appetizer (guacamole, salsa & queso with chips) & chicken fried steak / eggs. For dessert, they have a variety of pies, and the ones we had were outstanding as well. As you can see from the pics, the food looked great. Everything tasted so fresh & was full of flavor. If you're around the San Marcos area, do yourself a flavor and visit this place. You won't be disappointed! Parking: we parked around the corner, behind the building, and parking was free.
One of the best beef quesadillas I’ve had! The place is very welcoming and cozy. I ordered their beef quesadilla, came with a side of lettuce, tomatoes & guacamole. They have a great selection of food options for all kinds of people! My server Ashley was very attentive and professional. I loved how they had TVs playing NBA features and other sports. There is street parking all throughout the area. This place was so delicious I went back a few days later with company.
Local diner with old school vibes. The food was great and the service was awesome. Delicious cheese sticks. We also enjoyed the burgers a good deal but the quesadilla was super good.
Great food. There is a veggie burger and lots of good sides. Our server, Shannon, was really friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Would go back again.
Friends took me here recently for my first time and joy to the world was I missing out. Our server was kind, patient, informative and on top of it, we waited for nothing. You can tell the freshness by the delicious, spicy salsas and veggies I had in my huge omlette. There was no skimping out here. Portions were quite generous. We will definitely be back.
I was very impressed with this cafe/ bar. The decor was simply amazing and it's a huge restaurant. The prices are pretty reasonable with coffees/ hot chocolate available for only $2.5. I had a regular coffee and a chocolate cake The cake was moist and a big slice for $4.75. I wish the cake had been a bit heated but it was still very tasty. The service was amazing with great servers. Would visit this place again!

First time eating here we had a mix of brunch and lunch items, everything was delicious. Great waitress too, very attentive. Cute lil restaurant on the square with a lot of other stores around.
Opinions differ. I read quite a few good reviews on it, and there were a lot of good things. But let me tell you, we both had the migas. And they were just pretty bland that's partially my fault. I could have asked for hot sauce. That would have helped the migas, though, really just scrambled eggs. They had hardly any shivers of any kind of corn chip or tortilla or anything to add a little crunch and salt. And I mean, that's what migas are all about. Tea great ... beans good .. potatoes bland.. service was very good.. the place was well lit.. and clean.. some TVs.. but if you are large or handicapped.. the chairs were very tight to sit in.. It's probably great 4 most.. but if you use a walker, I would bring it
Our first time visiting, it was pretty good. Chicken fried chicken was slightly overcooked but still good, onion rings are delicious, mashed potatoes and gravy were good. We waited a little longer than expected to get the food (they were not busy) but it came out very hot and fresh. Hubby got fried catfish and he liked it. Not much parking in the front but we parked across the street and walked.
Place is nice and the staff is great. Food was very good. Some of it may have been left on the line for a bit because some of it was cold. Will try again next time in San Marcos. Came back for pie and a pitcher of beer. Good stuff and friendly folks. We will be back.
I hadn't been to this place in 2 years . the changes were many and not good ones. There was a litter on the floor from the front door two back by the kitchen and into the bathroom. The bathroom look like a construction project that that was not finished. I had my standard burger and fries. the burger was in pieces and the bun was as sweet as a Danish. Not a good surprise. Our table had been fixed to keep from rocking buy a wad of dirty tore up napkins under one foot. Not good ugly ugly ugly! What a shame.
We already had one bad experience here but we decided to give them a second chance and we were let down once again. The wait for food is outrageous. I ordered the club sandwich and we waited a solid hour + for it. When it finally arrived it was just a cold bland sandwich. I had a better bologna sandwich in jail. Our waitress seemed very uninterested in us as she had some friends at another table she was giving all her attention to. I also ordered a Caesar salad and the “Caesar” dressing was a cup of watered down miracle whip. Super unappetizing. Maybe I just don’t know how to order here because I just don’t get the hype.
