Had lunch here today the food was delicious the staff is great definitely recommend this place great job guys ps I forgot to take a picture before I started eating this deliciousness the enchiladas are bigger than displayed .
Cutomer service is fantastic! Everyone has been super friendly
Karina was a very lovely and attentive waitress. I was unsure of the horchata, and she offered to replace my drink choice if I didn’t like it. Horchata was great btw, as well as the rest of our order but just to be given to option is always nice. She was so sweet and continuously checked on our table. Thank you Karina ♥️
Awesome place to eat & we've eaten there several times! I have never had a bad meal there! All the food is great, even the tea is awesome!
Yesterday, my family celebrated two of our sons graduating, and the ceremony was held at Texas State. I called and spoke to the manager, Ludy, to see if they can support a party of 25. Upon our arrival, Ludy did everything to quickly find ways to get us into the restaurant and seated with three tables for our family. Our servers were Katya, Brenda, and Jenifer, all three went above and beyond to care for the three large tables and getting us drinks, appetizers, and our food. Ludy continuously checked with us to ensure we had an amazing experience. Ludy and the servers made our experience a phenomenal one. I highly recommend this location. The staff is amazing and the food was all fresh and delicious.
Garcia’s in San Marcos, Texas, delivers an unforgettable dining experience with bold flavors and hometown charm. From the moment you're seated, the fresh, crispy chips and flavorful salsa set the tone perfectly spiced and addictive enough to ask for seconds before your meal even arrives. The real standout for me was the combination quesadilla. Stuffed with tender meat, gooey cheese, and grilled to golden perfection, every bite was satisfying and full of flavor. Paired with a cold, sweet tea perfectly brewed and not overly sugary it made for a refreshing balance to the savory dish. Garcia’s nails the essentials of great Tex-Mex with quality ingredients, fast service, and a welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to every time you’re in town.
Comfortable restaurant good for families, groups and solo diners. The wait staff were charming and friendly. I ordered Garcia’s queso and the vegetable quesadillas both of which were tasty. The queso had a nice heat but it was a little salty. The vegetable quesadillas were out of this world. I highly recommend them. The table service salsa was not remarkable, but the light crispy chips were great.
The guacamole and the enchiladas were really tasty! The margaritas are also pretty good! The restaurant was clean and the service was fine. The food really stood out though, we enjoyed everything we were served!
I will do a full rating of everything I ate! Chips and salsa- the chips were SO good and the salsa had the best perfect amount of flavor and spice. Chicken cilantro enchilada: it was good. I just didn’t really like the really creamy sauce just because I’m not used to it, but very good flavor. Sweet tea: good. I think it tasted like dirt. Like the water they used tasted like dirt idk, but it’s don’t really think that’s their fault. 😭 Rice and charro beans: the rice was delicious and they beans taste just like the ones my mom makes! (So, amazing) Crispy beef taco: so good and really fresh. The service was really good. We got our food less than 10 minutes after ordering. When it came out that early i was like “dang that was fast.” Really nice environment and great food.
I have been a customer of this location for the past 2 years. I have occasionally had to call the management about missing items on my take out orders. I usually call for take out menudo and tacos as they have very good menudo. Today being under the weather i thought I'd order some caldo de res, but upon opening my order at home I noticed they did not include a side of rice which is customerly included at most of the other places I've ordered it from. Also the cook added too much salt when cooking it. I called the manager to inform them about my missing rice only to be told that they don't start cooking their rice until 10:00 am and the don't serve their caldo with rice. I told him I wouldn't be ordering there again. I called the other Garcias in town and asked if they included rice with their Caldo and was told that they do.
All I know is that we had gotten the exact same order of six tacos 1 week before at the new Braunfels location and only paid $36 and some change but went to this location and had to pay $40. The quality and flavor and size at the NB location is great! Will not be returning to this one. I asked for cilantro and onion on my Barbacoa and did not get any, and we noticed that the tacos were significantly smaller than what we had gotten in the new Braunfels location.
Service and waiter were great. Just the food… I’m sure if you’re use to this type of Tex-mex it’s fine but for anyone who’s use to more authentic Mexican food it’s very baseball game type of food. Rice and beans are solid. The enchiladas/burritos just tasted like melted quick cheese on store bought tortillas. My burrito was literally just cheese and chicken I was fully expecting lettuce and rice and beans inside etc but nothing. Again this might be peoples normal but just a warning if you are someone who’s use to more authentic Mexican food. I’d say TomaTaco is a safer choice but still searching for good Mexican food in San Marcos. I’m use to Laredo, San Antonio, EL Paso food so maybe not the best judge but just wanted to share.
Food was decent. Service was ok. Couldn't use gift card. Stated it was for a different location. Went to the other location and was told the same thing. DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS!!!!!
We got there a little before 2and left at 2:17. Our waitress never asked us if we needed anything else or checked on us. We asked another lady for our bill n take out box 10 minutes later the waitress brought it to us and never came back to get our money. My husband had to give it to another lady. As we walked out she smiled at us. Worst waitress we had there. Never have had any problems before.
I use to enjoy going to eat at Garcia’s but the service has become extremely unbearable. This use to feel like a family friendly environment, but now it feels as though it’s all about making money and not taking care of their customers. I use to frequent this establishment four to five times a week. Sometimes even twice a day. Now with the horrible service, and bad attitudes from many of the servers I’ve chosen to not come here any longer. I prefer to go to establishments in San Marcos that truly care for their customers. Today I did an online (phone order) order off the website linked to Garcia’s on Dutton Dr. and saw a meal for $12. (New Pricing went up $3.95)When I arrived I saw the ticket was for $30 and change. I showed the girl the price discrepancy, and she then showed her manager and who I assume was a supervisor. I showed both the supervisor and main manager to see if they would honor the price. They both said NO, ended up canceling my entire order and wasted about a half hour of my time showing them the website with the menu and pricing which they stated wasn’t theirs. Do better for the customer. We keep your doors OPEN! I will NO LONGER be eating here, and if you haven’t noticed as a customer many of their plates have increased in price by $2 to $4 more. Recommend you try Casa De Don Lorenzo in San Marcos.
I would like to say that I am an honest reviewer, you can look at my profile I review all places and restaurants with fairness. When my husband and I arrived to Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant they asked what we wanted to drink. My husband wanted at michelada and I wanted an agua fresca. We got a sorry we have no michelada mix and we don’t have aguas frescas. I was shocked at a Mexican restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Well we looked past that. We were ready to order food my husband ordered a mixed fajita plate and I ordered a veggie fajitas plate. Server comes back sorry we can’t make the veggie fajitas were out of bell pepper. I asked can you make it without bell pepper just all the other veggies comes back sorry no the plate is mainly bell peppers. I asked the server well what do you recommend I eat vegetarian. She said we can make you potato tacos, I said ok fine 2 ranchera potato tacos and a side of beans. 15 minutes passed my husband’s plate arrives and I just get beans. Server comes sorry we can’t make ranchera potato tacos. Seriously my mouth dropped I couldn’t believe it. I said fine just bring me 1 potato a la mexicana taco. Then my husband start eating his plate of food goes in for the rice first spoonful a long blonde toned hair. Picked at the rice some more and more hairs were in there. I just couldn’t believe it. One bad thing after another at this restaurant. Also this place was busy people were waiting outside for a table I seriously don’t understand how. The server brought back the manager I told her everything that we went through since the beginning and told her we wanted our bill and to leave. All we ate were the chips and drinks. I still left the server a $15 tip for a $12 bill. It wasn’t the servers fault and I thought I was more than fair. I will never come back and recommend that nobody else eats here either.
While visiting in San Marcos, we chose Mexican food. We tried Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant over Balcon Comedar Y Bar. Bad choice. The overall atmosphere was ok. Our waitress Christina was not very good. She was not attentive. We asked for silverware twice. The food looked well but had no flavor at all. My daughter had chicken flautas. She said the chicken had no flavor. My husband had the sour cream enchiladas. He stated the same. It tastes as if the chicken was boiled. The sour cream sauce was runny and tasteless. I tried the fajita chicken taco salad. The chicken wasn’t necessarily fajita style. It was regular cut up chicken. I also had a Margarita flight. No alcohol at all and mostly flavored syrup. It was a wasted $75
