Opinions de Meet Fresh San Mateo
Ordered the Q mochi milk shaved ice dessert as a weekday afternoon treat I tried to time it so the dessert would be ready right as we got to the restaurant. However it took us a little longer to park in downtown San Mateo than we hoped for but they kept our dessert cold behind the counter rather than leaving it out to melt! The dessert itself was refreshing and delicious - lots of textures and sweet flavors, my favorite part were the purple potaro balls (chewy taro mochi filled with black sesame)! I wish the other tube-shaped mochi were cut into some little smaller chunks, that would have made it easier to get multiple different things onto 1 spoonful for an optimal bite. I was surprised at how empty the restaurant was on a weekday afternoon, it was pleasantly nice compared to their Daly City location in Serramonte. We'll be back to try other desserts on their menu!!
Meet Fresh is a dessert place that specializes in soups and shaved ice items. It's a popular spot for friends to meet and is pretty busy most nights. Lines go fast which is nice, prices are good for the huge portion sizes you get, and the desserts taste great. Mango milk shaved ice is my favorite. The staff are ok here, more just wanting to get the food out quick. Parking can be a pain at night here so be prepared to walk a bit. They have a few dozen tables inside, some smaller and some bigger for larger groups of people.
This new location is conveniently in downtown San Mateo. Great spot to get traditional Taiwanese desserts after eating at one of the many Asian restaurants in the area. Desserts are the perfect amount of sweetness and there are cold and hot options. My favorites are the Pudding and Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice, Red Bean Tofu Pudding, and Hot Purple Rice Soup. Make sure to try the fresh taro, one of the chain’s specialities. There’s free WiFi and the open, air-conditioned interior makes this location a great spot to hang out with friends.
I'm a fan of their almond jello, tofu pudding, red beans and taro. The seating area is relaxing and spacious. A good hangout spot If you want fresh fruit go to Sweet Moments, the shaved ice mango/strawberry is lackluster here. The core competencies here are grass jelly, chewy mochi varieties, taro, pretty much anything but their fruit (unless you like it syrupy and frozen)
This place has the best Taiwanese/Asian deserts. I have not been disappointed with the teas here, however the shaved ice, egg waffles and the other unique deserts are the best choices. Only downside is that they can be on the expensive side, however that make well for being shared between 2 people and it is after all a treat.
4/2023-Order the shaved ice with mochi and the unsweetened red bean purple rice soup or both anything similar and dip the shave ice with red bean soup and it's a perfect combination! 7/2022-Everything was excellent. Really loved the ice grass jelly and hot sweet potato taro ball tofu. 7/2020-Tried a few drinks and the caramel pudding with mochi which were all good but not spectacular for the higher prices and a crazy wait time when it gets busy.
Love getting Meet Fresh after dinner! Got two shaved ice and a hot Jasmine green tea. The shaved ice can definitely be shared with 4 people, it comes with soooo much toppings. Service is always quick here but ordering on the kiosk took awhile. They have 2 but one didn’t work so it took awhile before it was our turn.
The place is alright, plenty of chairs we ordered togo biba drinks and it was really good ( we're gonna be late at work ) we left our friends they just wanna stay. The only problem is the parking you'll just have to look and find at sidestreet.
I think the trick is to know what you want from their extensive menu then go to the kiosk. Main choices: hot or cold bowl then the extras. We tried the bowl combos previously, it had a nice texture and semi-sweet. This time we ordered passionfruit sorbet. The items they added were refreshing and it was a good size that you actually able to eat it all. We also had waffles, nice crisp edges. Plain is simple to go with sweet drink. Service was nice. People ahead of us took awhile on the kiosk so the server used his register, he was also our food prep person. Friendly and helpful service.
Signature Taiwanese dessert brand. Their specialties are the icy grass jelly and icy taro ball series. Our family came here multiple times and tried out different other items on the menu such as almond tofu, boba milk tea, shaved ice, etc. We still prefer the icy grass jelly best. The milk tea is also not bad, but we already have another favorite, just right next door. The seating area is very spacious with round table style. It’s a great place to hang out with family and friends, but please take note of the hours. This place is especially crowded after dinner time, around 7:30-8:30pm. Everyone wants a nice dessert :))) so if you came during this period, the service is extremely slow because there are so many people, and there’s always a long line at the front door. If you’re not patient, I advise you to visit early evening or during the day.
Delicious food, and unlike many places serving this food type, they have plenty of space and tables to sit and hang out for a while.
A really top tier Chinese desserts restaurant. Super modern dining environment and queue to order your desserts. There is HUGE variety of desserts to choose from, many of which are shareable, but also personal desserts. The variety is quite impressive and will suit anyone's palate. It was pretty hard to choose a dessert to go with since everything looked so good. We settled for some shareable desserts and enjoyed them thoroughly. The mochi was delicious and had the classic chewy, but soft and tender texture you'd expect from high quality mochi. The pudding paired with them was fantastic. Had my first almond pudding there and it was fantastic; a new tasty flavour I enjoyed. Seating was plentiful and lighting of the store and decorations was on point and very nice. I loved the creativity of the chicken wire clouds too- subtle ,but very effective. As we dined some Chinese commercials played displaying more of their desserts which was nice to watch and have in the background, giving us ideas for what we could order next time. Really great place to grab dessert if you're in the area.
Cute and warm interior, friendly staff and very tasty desserts! The waffle or ice cream is not too sweet. Boba tea was one of the best i've ever tasted so far. The place was not too crowded in the afternoon . After the evening there was a like to order. Overall - 5 out of 5 def!
Love this place. Delish drinks. I tried the new Strawberry Slush and it was like a reward for a good job! I felt like a kid drinking this, it was sweet and delightful. I can't wait to visit again. I'm excited to learn they have multiple locations.

It's so good. As good as in Taiwan. Always crowded, the vibe is awesome. Free wi-fi. Me and my husband eat a wellington steak in Porterhouse, and came 鮮芋仙 for shave ice. Super yummy.

Taiwanese dessert place with milk teas, grass jelly, almond milk, tofu pudding, red bean, mochi, fresh toppings, warm and cold options, etc.... The interior is quite large, clean, welcoming, bright. You order at counter, they give you a buzzer when it's ready, a little on the slow side I think. I've been here three times and got try an oolong milk tea: good. Mango milk shaved ice thing: it's good, but a bit pricey ($14, also this is seasonal, not offered in winter). The caramel pudding with boba was great for a cheaper and not so large menu option if you don't want tons of desert food.
This place is packed on the weekends in the evening! I don't blame them because they offer desserts that no others do in this area and their food is on the higher quality end of things. The almond soup and red bean soup with variety of "toppings" (funny how they are actually being buried at the bottom irl) are tasty and served up quickly. The mochi sticks go well with the soups too.
Reliable spot for family or group post-dinner dessert or afternoon snacks. Has these large corner tables that you can squeeze in many and with add on stools, many can gather around. Really smart interior design. The Taiwanese desserts are great. It's a bit difficult to find your line of favorites as there's some weird sounding stuff like taro balls and sweet tofu. But once you get the groove, it's really tasty and consistent. You can't go wrong with shaved ice and these are some of the best in the Bay Area. My only message to the owners is that service time can be really "random". The desserts aren't complicated yet it feels like sometimes they come out extremely fast and sometimes it's as if they are growing the beans for the tofu. Overall wonderful addition to San Mateo.
Service was quick, beautiful space, shaved ice was yummy and not too sweet
I recently visited Meet Fresh in San Mateo, and it's a reliable go-to spot for those who enjoy the standard Meet Fresh menu offerings. The first thing that caught my attention was the spacious interior, making it an ideal place for groups to hang out after dinner. As for the menu, they deliver on the familiar Meet Fresh favorites. Personally, I found their Almond Drink to be a standout. It's a delightful choice if you're looking for something refreshing and nutty. Another highlight was their Mango Shaved Ice. It's a delightful, cool treat with the sweetness of mango that's perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth. All in all, Meet Fresh in San Mateo is a great choice for those who appreciate the classics on the menu and a spacious setting for group gatherings.
Another one of my top 3 favorite dessert places in the bay area! It is so good, and there is a chain with can guarantee great products. There are large variety of products, some season, some not to fit everyones tastes. Desserts ranging from matcha, different bingsu flavors, drinks, sorbet, passionfruit, berries, and more. Futhermore, there is also icy and hot options perfect for any weather. There seems to be an endless amount you can choose form. Although the service may be a bit slow, its a terrific hangout spot with friends and familiy. If it is your first time ordering, I do not suggest customizing, but rather order a set option to see how it goes first! Enjoy
On a heat wave afternoon, we craved shaved ice. The place was packed. There was a line of 7 people waiting to order on the machine. There were four groups waiting for tables. I had to wait ten minutes to get a table when someone stood up to leave. We also had to wait 30 plus minutes for the food. For the lengthy wait, it is just 3/5 for the service. Good and atmosphere were 5 out of 5. I would still come back.

We only got one drink for a party of three because we just had a big lunch. The drink is good. The inside is nice. I didn’t expect it to be so roomy. There were close to 50 people here enjoying their food. Beware when visiting this business though, grab a seat, bring a book because it’s going to take a while. It takes unusually long. 3 people working and it took 25+ mins 😂 for a drink.
The desserts here are good, but not worth the price. I have tried a few things from here, which are their black sugar boba fresh milk, their fluffy ube smoothie (with boba) from their ube series, their strawberry green tea (with boba), and their medium mangoberry shaved ice. For the boba drinks, I have felt that they are just... eh. For what was paid, I didn't particularly enjoy my drink. None of them fulfilled me, it always felt like there was something missing from them; the ube smoothie didn't feel smooth enough, the strawberry green tea didn't feel sweet enough, and the fresh milk was actually too sweet. It's a shame you can't customize sweetness level, at least when ordering from the self-serve kiosk. The boba pearls themselves were also not chewy or flavorful enough for my liking, and the pearl-tea ratio was never that great either. I can get better boba drinks at other places for lower prices. As for the shaved ice, it was so delicious, but also not worth the price that is paid. It could definitely be made at home if you wanted to put the effort into it. All it is is shaved ice, fruits, fruit syrup and ice cream. I don't hate the products by any means. I just think they are a tiny bit less than okay for what you pay, and I prefer a lot of other dessert and boba shops before this one. The atmosphere and service saves it for me, the store is really cozy. Overall, I'll probably come again on rare occasion. 3/5.
The place is clean and well-maintained, which makes it feel welcoming right from the start. It's also surprisingly spacious, so you won’t have to stress about finding a seat, even during busier hours. Whether you're stopping by for a quick treat or planning to hang out a while, the comfortable layout adds to the overall enjoyment. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for something sweet in a relaxed setting!

What we ordered vs what we received, haha. We actually thought they gave us the wrong item by mistake, but unfortunately no. We were assured that "the ingredients are just at the bottom". The pudding ended up being missing and they were super stingy with the amount of toppings. Quality is hit or miss at this location... But at least we had a good laugh.
This place needs better management. The poor kids behind the counter are overworked and have to deal with pissed off customers for the poor management. On a busy Friday evening my partner and I came, waited 20 minutes to order at the self-ordering kiosk, then waited another 30+ minutes for our three drinks because our order was forgotten. I’ve done my time in the back of house. It was easy to see that it was so busy and chaotic and understandable why our order was overlooked. I asked for management and the employee said there wasn’t a manager. This alone is questionable. Instead of getting a refund I’m here writing a bad review for what it’s worth. But the drinks were good.
Over the years the quality has definitely gone down. Today we ordered the Hot Red Bean Signature bowl. It was mostly soup base with few actual bits and bobs in it, despite paying for extras in it. Additionally, the soup base is very watery and lacks depth of flavor. Definitely will be skipping this place in the future. If you look at my photo, I had to search for stuff and lift it up with my spoon to be able to photograph it.
I love taro balls and have been to several MeetFresh in other cities but this one is different. The red bean soup with taro balls is good, but gave me an afternoon of diarrhea. The purple rice drink took 45 minutes to make and they made the wrong drink without realizing it. I saw another person making the right one at the counter, so I guess the person who made mine was less trained. I was in a rush (after 45min of waiting for a boba, lol) so I took it, but the experience was so bad that me, a meetfresh and taro lover, would be hesitant to come back
The line was 12-15 people long and only have 1 self ordering kiosk, the line wasn’t moving. Once we ordered it took forever to get our food. Then it took even longer to try and find an empty table. We ended up eating outside stand on the street. Our mango shaved ice was good but not good enough to come to this Meet Fresh again. They need an industrial engineer to fix their over all operation.
They are understaffed and it shows. Terrible experience overall- waited some 15 mins to order, then another 40 mins for our order - Mango Sago 杨枝甘露 - only to see it kinda melted and the taste was average and not worth waiting for.
Quite a long wait (~35 minutes while it wasn't too busy) for a dessert and two drinks. The potato ball tofu was just okay, texture was fine but the taste was mellow. The drinks were a bit watery and didn't have too much of a taste.

This one star is for the location. I drop by Meet Fresh in downtown San Mateo after hiking with a friend, we ordered Hot Almond Signature because it looks very Delicious from the menu picture, however when they called No.11 then my friend pick it up the " Almond Signature" from the counter, it is a bowl watery liquid, barely see anything in the bowl; totally different with the menu, so we decide to ask the counter person why it's so different? but the person just simply reply: it always as is! so we want to speak with the store manager, guess what, they don't have store manager, so I request to refund or exchange; basically the counter person just ignoring me. Both of the quality for food and services are very poor here. I'd suggest anyone should ask them if the actual product will matching the menu picture upon place order.
🍽️ almond drink + mini qq (ordered) but I received almond drink + boba 💰 $8 💔 I waited about 30 minutes for this drink. I ordered this mainly because this is a seasonal drink in Canada but it's available year round in the US. I'm not a big fan of the tapioca balls which is why I ordered the QQ. The almond drink is still good.
I am super disappointed. They messed up my order. I had 3 orders. 2x qmochi and purple rice soup. They put the qmochis inside my purple rice soup!!! It made the qmochis soggy and the soup off! Quite disgusting. Its not the on menu I called the store, the guy said they made a "mistake" but told us to call DoorDash to refund the qmochi but not the soup dessert! So cheap! A respectable business would refund the whole order. Never coming back to Meet fresh in San Mateo.
huge wait time although not much people waiting, made the mistake of ordering the qq egg waffle, which is a lot smaller than the regular egg waffle and tastes the same
Came in for a black sugar boba with NO boba, was told, “we can’t do that. If you know boba, you would know you can’t have black sugar boba tea without boba”. I left it at that and walked away. Just FYI, you can. I’ve had it that way at plenty of boba places, they even put extra black sugar syrup around the cup. I never went back to this location after that interaction.
Their seasonal chocoMint slush tastes like vicious water. Keep in mind I ordered default sweetness. Between me and my friends we were unable to find any taste or sweetness in this drink. When I approached a worker about this concern, they just gave me a disgusted look and told me they will not do anything about it. I asked them to remake the drink just in case the previous person forgot to adjust the sugar/sweetness and the worker shot me down immediately, telling me they won't remake the drink. Imagine spending $9 on frozen water. This place sucks.
It's a waste of time. 30+ minutes to get the order on a Wednesday night. Good portion okay taste. The bowl is kinda worn out. It's easy to be misunderstood as dirty. But it's not! I checked other posts and found that it's the faded color of the bowl. I will recommend replacing old bowls.

Shameless management tried to distort the truth. There was nothing to do with the 25-cent bag. The staff never provided this option or mentioned it in the whole conversation. Additionally, my wife brought 2 drinks; should it come with a cup holder by default in a decent drink store? -----Previous Review--------------- This was an absolutely outrageous and provoking experience. If I could give negative stars, I would. My wife went in with our child and bought two drinks. When the drinks were ready, she politely asked if she could leave one on the counter and come back for it later — because she was holding our baby. Instead of showing even a bit of understanding, the staff member rudely barked at her to take both drinks immediately. That attitude was completely unnecessary and humiliating. My wife was so upset she came out crying. When I went in to ask for the manager or director, I was told there was none. I then asked for the staff’s name — and unbelievably, she said she had “no name” and “no manager.” This was pure provocation, not customer service. Her coworkers seemed embarrassed and apologized for her behavior, but she showed zero remorse, as if she enjoyed creating conflict. This kind of attitude is unacceptable. It’s not just bad service — it’s disrespectful, confrontational, and provoking. I will be escalating this to the company. They seriously need to retrain their employees and put proper management in place. No customer should ever be treated like this.
I ordered a bowl of hot tofu pudding and a plain egg waffle. After waiting for a long time, they handed me tofu pudding that had already started to taste sour, and the egg waffle was cold inside. I told them I just wanted a refund because I didn’t want to eat food that was clearly leftover from the night before. I was already shaking from low blood sugar and told them I needed a refund so I could go buy food elsewhere. One of the ladies told me they had “fresh” ones and asked me to sit down and wait. I believed her, so I stayed. But when the new bowl came, the tofu pudding was still cold inside — only the bowl was burning hot. The egg waffle was reheated so much that the edges were too hard to bite. This place is really not worth visiting. The low ratings exist for a reason. I won’t be coming back, and I don’t recommend anyone wasting their time and money here. They only have two people working, and because of my low blood sugar, I ended up having to eat food that tasted like leftovers from yesterday. I truly hope I don’t get food poisoning today.

They seriously need to retrain their employees and put proper management in place. No customer should ever be treated like this.
