I highly recommend El Hongo, I think it's a great bar, with very good service, delicious mezcal shots with 40% alcohol (they really pack a punch) for 180 pesos in the afternoons and 250 at night.

Our 1st stop on a 30 day journey was very good. I suggest Happy Hour! On the beach with friends enjoying drinks and good Mexican food. Service was excellent! If you don’t speak Spanish pull out Google Translate. We (3) had at least 3 drinks apiece and all had a plate (3) iof tacos for a whopping $55 out the door with tip. I highly recommend trying the restaurant! Follow me to explore Zipolite for the next 30 days!

A nice place for a drink. During the short time I was there, there weren't many customers because it was the off-season, but Miguel at the bar was a pleasant conversationalist. Even though he was the only one at the bar, I had a great time exchanging opinions. I'll definitely be back during peak season; it looks like the place gets really lively. I understand there's a DJ on weekends.

Very nice place to have a drink, the mezcalitas are very tasty, background music and a DJ plays, everyone is very friendly, if you want to have a quiet drink like this, this is the place without a doubt.

The El Hongo bar is a great place to have a beer and dance. On weekends, they sometimes have excellent drag shows. Check out their calendar, especially during holiday periods.

Agree with previous comments about excesive noise until typically 2am . I'm staying opposite and it's imposible to sleep. Yrs it's a bar but very inconsiderate to have the music so loud in the middle of the village with posadas all around. Not exactly a good neighbour!

Inconsiderate owners who play absurdly loud, bad music to an empty bar for the sole purpose of preventing the neighbors from sleeping. Monday and Tuesday night until 2am. Why? Rude.
