Opinions de The Bagel Bakery Sand City
This bagel shop is similar to most others in the Bay Area and Monterey region. It has a lot of options on its menu, the bagels are really good and parking is easy and free. This shop is located close to Higway 1 in Sand City with easy access. It is a very clean shop with very friendly and efficient employees.
Damn they have good bagels. First time I had been there since the pandemic. There wasn't a line and a large variety to choose from, garlic for me. My son is there at least once a week, sometimes twice.
I enjoyed this place quite a bit! I got the classic salmon lox with cream cheese and some lettuce & tomatoes, and it hit the spot! They had a very nice selection of fresh bagles. The price was of good value, and there was plenty of seating. I would come back here
Visiting from out of town and gave this place a try. Ended up coming back for lunch! Their breakfast options are delicious and at an affordable price at about $5 each. Their New Yorker lox sandwich is out of this world
So far, my favorite bagels in the whole Monterey area. Good service and decent prices. Also, a selection of other breads to use for your sandwiches. Conveniently located across from Target.
Our family enjoyed The Sunrise Bagel sandwiches- crispy bacon, cheddar, and egg on toasted bagels. Great local business!
This has a great long standing history of hot and tasty baked bagels and sandwiches. Although there are subsequent owners they produce the same excellent bagel. Truthfully they are my standard for what a great bagel is.
Been eating here for years. Im a regular customer. Staff is friendly, and they consistently serve good food. Got my vote.
Favorite among the locals. The food and staff are wonderful.
I enjoy eating at Bagel Bakery because of the tasty soft bagels and fresh ingredients. Customer service is great too. This is a go to weekend spot for my hunger needs while running errands.
Today August 11th 2023, I decided to try this place for the 1st time!! MARIA helped me with my order, she was so sweet, caring and wonderful person, definitely she made my day. She listened to my order and make sure that everything was correctly made. I ordered the Turkey 🥯 bagel with some modifications and it was the best 🥯 bagel I've ever tried 😋. So yummy, delicious, all ingredients tasted very fresh 😋. I'll highly recommend this place!! Maria made me the best bagel sandwich for me!!! And everyone seems to be very friendly and attentive!!! I'll give 100⭐️ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 stars to this Place !!!!
Great price and great bagels. I like that the have a good selection of bagel sandwiches. The the belly buster with parstrami,Swiss cheese, sprouts and tomatoes or a quicker grab and go is the hot egg wraps. I now have a great place to get bagel when i come to Monterey.

Amazing chewy, doughy, fresh bagels The drive through is awesome
This place is amazing! The staff ladies that work there today deserve a raise. Gosh! Their memory is unmatched; taking orders from the drive through while making omelet-bagels at the front, without writing anything down, wow! And the food was hot and delicious! Simply amazing! Just wish they had a bathroom since there are some tables and seats to eat-in, otherwise the atmosphere is great (typical bagel place)

Great fast service but like other Bagel Bakery's they need to clean there walls and ceiling. It's shocking that a restaurant can have such dirty walls and ceilings in any part but especially customer facing.
These guys make great bagels. Sometimes there is a line but they move.people through quickly. Plus, Wednesday's you get a bakers dozen for $6.99!
I have only been here once. The question is how high of a review can I give it without liking what I got? I really enjoyed the service, the place looked nice, coffee was good, the food was hot, and the prices are very reasonable. I got the california dream without really putting much effort into looking at the menu and didn't like it a ton. I plan to go back and give it another shot though. I would recommend this place!
Would have been 3 stars for the fact that when asking for a toasted bagel, a warm bagel is not what people are after. Toast them well enough to give the outside a little crunch. 4 stars because the bagel tasted great and the date walnut cream cheese was good enough to buy a container to take home.
Solid bagels and good pasteries. The brownies are super delicious, and I like the chocolate chips they add in them. The Boba tea isn't the best, but overall, the menu is good.
It was a little loud in the restaurant and hard to order. The person couldn't hear me. It was a short wait. They have a drive thru but we went inside. It was very clean. We got breakfast bagels and they were all good and a solid portion.
I got the italiano omelet on a salt bagel, it was good and the price was reasonable. I also got some cinnamon and sugar bagel chips. The facility was clean and the service was fast the people were also friendly. My only negative was that my bagel came with mushrooms and sundried tomatoes, the mushrooms looked and tasted like they came from a can and my sun dried tomatoes were also not very fresh. Other than that the eggs were good and there is a good variety of bagels and different sandwiches. I would recommend this place, just be careful with what you order.
Great bagel place. Not sure how good prices are compared to other bagel places but it seems like a good small local business to support. Lots of variety and conveniently located near other stores, so you could grab a bagel and run your errands at the same time.
Small gem, people seem to overlook, give them a try and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.( California dream)

Very good bagels, service is on the slower “chill side” (like with most things in the Monterey area, the infrastructure is overpowered)
Pretty good bagels, and toppings are a la carte. They go quite heavy on the cream cheese. Friendly service. Quiet on a Sunday morning.
The bagel egg sandwich was very good, but the gal left out the sausage. I hope I did not pay for the sausage , but i think I did. I like how they use gloves! Stay clean, yes!
I know inflation is bad but I use to be able to get a bagel sandwich here for about $7-$8. It’s almost double that now. I just can’t afford to go here anymore for a simple bagel sandwich at that price!
Disappointing so far. All 3 times I have been recently there has been a very skimpy amt. of cream cheese making the bagel taste like dry cardboard. Not even 1/8 in of cream cheese. Have tried the herb, walnut and olive ( barely a few flecks of olive and a couple of sm. pieces of walnut), and bacon chive (adequate bacon bits but large pieces of scallion tops not chives). Don't bother with the muffins. They're prepackaged and not fresh baked. Look nothing like the pics! They're applying cream cheese like you'd put mayo on a sandwich not like a filling.
Came here a few times for the same order. Last time they charged me differently, not sure why.

If you want a good sandwich, go to the Bagel Bakery on Alvarado St in Monterey. The portions at this Sand City location are half the size of what you get there. The people were nice enough, but they cheat you on the ingredients.
Ordered the New Yorker, lox is very mild and tastes more like Nova, did not have capers which was dissapointing. While waiting I noticed they MICROWAVE their egg for "omlets" in plastic ware, lost me right there. Service was friendly and quick but I won't support a business that's cutting corners on food by microwaving eggs.
There is always a line at this location ,so i thought i would give it a try. Im honestly baffled on how a bagel with topping could still have zero flavor. I ordered the mexican fiesta on a jalapeno cheddar bagel and somehow it tasted like plain egg and dough? I gave them an extra star because the worker was really sweet
Food is decent, costumer service is terrible, and price is average. I had the New Yorker which is Lox and cream cheese. Normally these come with Capers but this one did not, I asked for no Tomato which she did take off. I was standing in front of the counter off to the left in front of the sign that says take order here. A gentleman came up behind me and the woman didn’t ask me if I had been helped and just helped the gentleman. I told the woman that helped me and she didn’t comment at all. The woman that ignored me I told her and instead of relying with, “sorry I thought you had been helped,” she responds with well you were to the side so I thought you had been helped. I responded with you should of asked regardless if you thought I had been helped, she had an attitude about it.
They put chives in the lox Schmeer and the place just feels dirty. Limited selection of bagels. The tables outside are rusty and the concrete is stained. Meh

Difficult communication with staff. My order was not as I had ordered, the veggie bagel sandwich and the omelet bagel sandwich were tasteless. it seems that a napkin with moyonnaise would be tastier. There was no tea, a box of which was on display.
I asked for 3 bagels 1 sesame 1 superseed and 1 plain she only gives me a plain toasted and crème cheese … the rushed lady only gave me 1 superseed no crème cheese and toasted when I didn’t asked for it to be toasted … this is why I don’t like coming here I’ll rather go to the Alvarado one … service here is so confusing
If I could give 0 stars I would. Lady running the drive thru wasn’t able to get anything in our order right then argued with us when we told her none of that was what we ordered. Then the food we did get was inedible. Meh
I ordered 3 bagel sandwiches this morning. When they were ready I was rung up and I noticed as the cashier was ringing me up she quickly inputed a 45 cent extra cheese charge that only showed on the screen for a second before she entered the last bagel. I never asked for any extras and she didn't give me an itemized receipt. I feel like she was adding in extra items I was not given. Be leary.
Bagels are good, cs not so much. They gave me the incorrect sandwich in my order. I went back in to talk to them and they told me that I ordered the wrong item. No, actually I didn't. It doesn't matter to me how good the bagels are, I won't patronize an establishment that treats their customers like this.
Stood waiting to buy a can of coke, was the only person in line, then the teller started helping some new entrant, when told I was there first she said I wasn’t at the order here sign and went back to helping the second person in line. Just left. What a joke.
We came for 2 omelets-on-bagels. One of them got mixed up with someone else who had already left. We got an egg-bagel, instead of a BELT. When showing them, they made a new one, but would only give it to us if we paid again (9$). This is theft!!!!! I never seen something this insulting in a restaurant in my life!
I went to try them out this morning and I got the California dream or something like that and it was not good at all. The bagel was completely soggy, there was no cheese like there was suppose to be, and they didn’t include a side of salsa like it was suppose to come with. I was extremely disappointed and probably will never go back. The only upside was the price point was pretty reasonable. It’s sad the quality just wasn’t there, otherwise this would be awesome.
Extremely poor customer service. I stood ar the counter with employees walking past me several times. No one made eye contact with me or spoke to me for a good 4 minutes. An employee then proceeds to ask a customer who just walked in if she can help her. I said you could help me as I've been waiting here for a few minutes. She then proceeded to inform me that no one helped me because I was mot standing in the correct spot. Arg... Frustrating. Never coming here again
I usually come to the Bagel Bakery periodically - over the last 30 or so years - and have never had a complaint... but today I am super disappointed. Ever since the guy stopped working the morning shift in Sand City about a month ago, it hasn't been the same. The bagels and cream cheese has always been predicable with plenty of cream cheese. But not anymore, it is just really inconsistent now. Yesterday I got a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and it was perfect. Today I got the same thing, plus an order of a cranberry bagel with honey butter and both were inadequate, to say the least. The honey butter might as well have not been used because of how little there was. Not even enough to moisten the bagel. But the true angst came with the cinnamon raisin bagel. The plentiful cream cheese of the past has been replaced with barely a smear. And today it was accompanied by a hair.

Terrible customer service. They verballty attack you that the wrong order is your fault. The first bagel had to be returned. It was completely, black & burnt. The man acted like it was my fault. I said double toasted not burnt. "I can't eat this." Then the second order had a weird taste. Like Garlic. (All the garlic pieces were black like onion! I ONLY Order Onion Bagels but, they tried to blame mistake on me. I asked for an Onion Bagel to go then. The manager was quick to say, "we will give you an onion bagel but no cream cheese! We will give you No cream cheese!" I said, I still have a little left. She walked away like I was trying to get away with something! There was absolutely, no apology. If she has to watch her money that closely, then maybe she & that young man should not accuse their prospective customers. Bagel Bakery on Alvarado would haveNEVER Been So RUDE to ANYONE! ...no apologies were made on anything! I will go to Alvarado street where they have consistent good food, and treat their customers like valued jewels. They give understanding and respect to their customers. I will go there! Missed them today!
1st time here but will make it my last. Ordered an egg omelet with wheat bagels and I must say this is the most bland breakfast bagel I’ve ever had. They use powdered egg and yup came with a bagel. Never had an omelet bagel with just so called egg and was scrambled. The egg was not even cooked thoroughly and was a bit watery.
This place doesn’t have the brains or the competence to be considered a food establishment. I placed a phone order 25 minutes before arriving. Went to the pick up counter and no body, not a soul helped me for 15 minutes or more until I blurted out “can someone help me??” My order had been in the window the entirety of my waiting, which included being cut in front of 3 times. This place sucks and doesn’t have the capability to be anything other than mediocre at best.
Just be aware before you order any bagel that has a hot item, they have no chef inside that is on a stove, their chef is the microwave.. They cook the eggs in the microwave and anything that needs to be cooked is just thrown in a microwave.. extremely unhealthy! So I would recommend staying with bagels that are cold and no need to be heated up. Also make sure to tell them to toast your bagel in the toaster because even if they ask you toasted or not they still just threw in my bagel in the microwave and was definitely not toasted..
